IPhone only searches MobileMe in iOS5?
I just noticed that searches under iOS 5 are only matching things in my MobileMe inbox, and not my other IMAP or GMAIL accounts. Is there some preference I am missing to enable searching for the other accounts?
LOL . . . I just knew that someone would ask, and I'm not sure what I did to fix it. The problem was with only one mail account, my .mac address, and only on my 3Gs iPhone.
What I "think" I did (although I thought I'd tried this before and it didn't help), was that on my iPhone, I totally deleted my .Mac account and alias account, and reset the phone, then set it up again. That seems to have been the trick. At the same time, I started the MobileMe mail beta, so I can't say for sure that that might have also in some way fixed it.

Well unless you use it all day and experience the problems when they happen, you wont see anything wrong. But there are lots wrong with it. But this would be the same store as I purchased the phone. I just installed last versión of iphoto and it erased my iPhoto events. Now i dont have iphoto library anymore and i only have my events in iPhone and in MobileMe gallery. How can i download and migrate events in MobileMe gallery to events in iPhoto ?
O also installed lion before and as i had filevault activated y lost my user information in timemachine. So, i have a useless backup. I only have events in iPhone ( due i didnt sync photos) and in MobileMe gallery, and i already migrate to iCloud. So?

I have just recieved the Iphone 4s and have updated it etc, i have just started to use the SIRI app which is great but when i want to search for say business etc it says it can only search for these based in the US. Im in the UK and have found this a little frustrating not being able to search for things locally.
Is there a setting i have to change or update.
Can anyone help??Apple haven't yet signed agreements with yell.com and similar local information services here in the UK or in europe. The rumor is that in the UK and others, will get it sometime towards the beginning of the year.

I have both Motorola and Rocketfish behind-the-head earphones. Both work fine on my IPhone 4. But the bluetooth setting on my IPad only "searches" and doesn't find the devices. Any ideas? (Using Latest OS for IPad
I had the same problem for the last 2 weeks and today it just started working with nothing changing. I've also read reports of others having it just start working today. Give it a shot again. I think it was a problem that AT&T sorted out.

HT5527 why does my iphone show I have CLOUD but my laptop and mac only show MOBILEME?
How come my iphone shows under settings ICLOUD but my laptop and Imac only have Mobileme and nothing under preferences that indicate ICLOUD?
According to your signature your Macs are running Leopard and Snow Leopard: neither is capable of accessing iCloud (other than setting the Mail application up manually). Lion 10.7.2 is the minimum requirement to make use of iCloud's other facilities.

Contact the police about the theft. Change passwords on any accounts used with the device. Contact the carrier about discontinuing service and possibly blocking future contracts with the phone. Shop for a new phone. -

I'm trying to recover a file and the app company said to restore from an earlier backup. My iPhone only shows the most recent backup. I've been searching the net for answers - I found the back up file and date sorted them (over 6mb of files). How can I get my iPhone to restore from an earlier backup?
I am on Windows Vista so I don't have Time Machine.
I have backed up the backup folder so if I mess it up, I have it in a separate place.
Can I just delete all the files with todays date in that backup folder and have it forced to the next oldest date?
Why doesn't the iPhone show a list of the least several backups.

Backed up to computer through iTunes (not iCloud)As you backup the iPhone in iTunes, it overwrites the last backup. Files are kept as they are changed, so that would explain how you get different dates in your backup folder. The only backups that are saved and not overwritten are the ones done just prior to a restore. You do have the option to go back in time on a Windows computer, however depending on the last time you set a restore point in Windows, it could be back further than you are willing to go.

How can I replace ALL Contacts on the iPhone with my MobileMe Contacts?
I have removed all duplicates in AddressBook on my various Macs and have uploaded the master copy to MobileMe. I would now like to replace all Contacts on my iPhone with that MobileMe master.
I have followed the steps in the KB article for syncing the iPhone but when I get to the step of turning on the iPhone Settings for the Contacts it looks like the sync wants to merge the contacts. Of course, I do not want to "merge" since that will reintroduce all those duplicates.
I suppose I could manually delete each of the the hundreds of contacts that are on my phone until it is empty ... and then turn on the iPhone setting for Contacts. That way it will have no option other than "add." But surely there is a more efficient way.
(FWIW, when I turned OFF the setting for the Calendar it did empty the iPhone's calendar, which is what I wanted. But it didn't do that for the Contacts -- I turned that setting off but I was not asked if I wanted to keep or toss the Contacts. They are all still on the phone.)

Brilliant! That worked like a charm.
I created a new User Account on one of my Macs and logged into it. I connected my iPhone to its iTunes and checked my iPhone's Sync Contacts option in iTunes. Since that account's address book was basically empty (two dummy contacts, one for Apple and one for this new user), I ended up with only those two Contacts on the phone. Then, going back to my real User account (which does not have syncing turned on in iTunes) the phone synced nicely with the MobileMe account and populated the phone with all the MobileMe contacts and groups. -
Can I search email archive on iCloud server from iOS device, or can I only search what it has downloaded locally?
I currently have an iPhone and iPad, and am soon changing over to a Mac. When that happen I'd like to try to see what I can migrate over from the Google ecosystem to the iCloud ecosystem.
1) Currently I have the Gmail iOS app (a webapp container) that can search server-side of several years of email archive. Can iCloud do this using the iOS native mail application? Or is the search just limited to what the device has downloaded locally?
2) Do I have to use a @me.com address for the full iCloud email sync to take place between server, Mac, and iOS devices?
Believe it or not I've read quite a bit about the iCloud services, but the answers to these questions were far from clear. For other accounts like google, you set up the account in the mail app and if they're IMAP accounts, you can sync between the google server and any devices you have defined that account on.
I'm not absolutely sure about 1) since I haven't had to search going back years - I use MailSteward for that on the mac. On my iPhone/iPad, when I go into a mailbox and the emails are not immediately available, it downloads them. I suspect for a search, you need the emails downloaded. -
This is very weird!! Recently synced both mine and husband iphones through iTunes and upgraded the software. (iCloud was another matter altogether) but since the sync we find that several files are duplicated on the iphones only - not in the itunes library (we have separate libraries) Also, the icon for the album is missing although on itunes itself it is there. Can anyone help with this? An exampled of this is - Norah Jones shows in iTunes perfectly - just as she always did - but on the iphone we have a blank album cover - open the album and there are duplicates of each track listed one after the other. So track 1 is track 1 and plays as track 1, but the next in the list is also Track 1 and plays as track 1 - although this time it has a picture of the allbum??? Check this in itunes and it shows only the correct album with the album picture........ getting a little cheesed off! I posted similar thread before but without ANY response... please help someone. (Yes both the Mac and the iphones have been turned on/off)
Morning! Having search most of the evening I found a thread that helped with removing tracks from the iPhone! I never knew you could just swipe accross the track and then delete it - so Im off now to go through my iPhone to delete all duplicate tracks that way and then sync again to see what happens!! Thanks to Katrinas reply back in 2010 - I am now moving forwards.. SM:)

What is the SAFEST SEQUENCE to convert from a Outlook/iPad/iPhone synced with MobileMe to syncing with iCloud (I have 10 years of calendar diary events and 3000 contacts) - I am worried about the data issues that have been posted about iCloud.
This has worked fine with MobileMe with only a couple of minor glitches in the past.
Any experience doing this the "right" way?The warranty entitles you to complimentary phone support for the first 90 days of ownership.

IPhone only displays messages in Inbox dated within the last month
I tried searching but couldn't find an answer.
My iPhone only shows messages that I received in the previous month even if there are older messages actually in the Inbox (still visible in Mail.app and webmail). This is an Exchange account.
Is this a setting somewhere? Is there any way to show everything in my inbox instead of only things from the previous month?
Thanks in advance...There is a setting for this with an Exchange account accessed via ActiveSync on an iPhone.
I don't know the exact location for this since I don't access an Exchange account with the iPhone's mail client, but there is an option to sync all messages or the last 30 days, etc. Check all available account settings on your iPhone.
