IPhone only syncs when Outlook is open?

Hi there,
Strange thing: Our business iPhones only syncs when we leave Outlook 2003/2007 open!. If we closed Outlook or shutdown the PC it won't sycn.
We use Microsoft Exchange.
Any idea's?

The problem is most likely on the Exchange server side, not the phone. A few months ago a Microsoft patch broke Exchange syncing. Below are the notes from my Exchange administrator. You may want to discuss the problem with yours.
+We ran windows updates on the Exchange server a weekend or so before this problem on the 28th. One of the updates was a DNS fix that expanded the dynamic port range dns is using. Problem was, in it’s infinite wisdom, MS allowed this range change to include 2883, the AUTD or active sync port. So we had to do a registry change to exclude the port for Active sync only. Hi, I have a new E71, and I setup my hosted Exchange with Mfe. When I have Outlook open, or Outlook Web Access the syncing works, no problems. As soon as I am out of the office, and I don't have Outlook or OWA open, the sync just does nothing. Then when I open my Outlook at night, it starts syncing again. Any ideas? Please help.

You will probably need to contact the hosted exchange provider about this issue.
I am a ex2007 system admin, and it should work.

Emails not pushing when outlook is open

Ladies & Gentlemen,
I need some advice on how to fix a problem. When my outlook program on my pc is open, my mail will not push to my phone, even when I have the frequency set to 15mins. How can I fix this. Whenever my outlook is closed all my messages push just fine, it's just when outlook is open is when they don't sync. The only way they will push when outlook is open is when I send the email(to my comcast acct) and continue to push the "refresh" button. But I don't have this issue with my google acct. Please assist. Just incase someone ask. I've had this problem with three different driod phone, with and without the software updates.

Outlook - 2007
Cell - Eris Droid
Email - Comcast,net (POP3)

You may just want to say Remove Email after X days. By not removing your email most carries restrict mailbox size and you will allow it to fill up and then stop newemails from arriving. so You may want to choose Remove emails after say 3 days this way you get it on the phone and on the PC. I run mine at 1 day but thats just me....

Not Receiving Emails on BB when Outlook is Open

Hi,
I only get emails delivered to my blackberry only when my Outlook is closed.
Only on few occasions, I will get 1-2 emails on my blackberry when Outlook is open.
I tried deleting all my accounts on the BIS website and re-created the accounts and this problem still persists.
Further, the emails that arrive in my blackberry are removed every few days such that they only show the emails that I had sent from my blackberry.
I am using:
Blackberry 8320 v4.5.0.55
Windows XP Pro SP3
Outlook 2007
Messages set to be left on Internet Provider Server
BIS
3 POP3 Email Accounts

I have a client who is experienceing a very similiar issue.
He is using a hosted Exchange server through GoDaddy for his primiary email. At first he had issues getting any email whatsoever on his BB so we worked through some things and now it is capable of receiving emails.
He can send emails just fine at any point from his device but the issue comes when he wants to get an email. If Outlook is open he is unable to receive the message on BlackBerry, but as soon as he closes Outlook, he is able to receive any new emails sent while Outlook is closed. I At first thought it looks like his settings on Outlook do not leave the messages on the server, but as I thought about it, this did not make sense as he is using an Exchange server. I thought Exchange servers left the mail on the server until deleted by the user. Is this not the case? And would the fact that it is a hosted server have any effect?
We have it setup through BIS, OWA account
Right now the only solution I have for him is to close Outlook when he leaves the office. I can not figure out what the issue is, even though it is likely something small that I am just missing. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Not Receiving Emails on Blackberry when Outlook is Open

Hello,
My client has gmail as her host. Outlook on her desktop is configured with POP. The "leave a copy of messgae on sever box is checked". When Outlook is open emails don't come throught to her balckberry. Has anyone had this problem?

If IMAP is properly setup on the server then the BlackBerry will automatically detect these settings and use them. To see if this works you can delete and reintegrate the account as shown here http://bit.ly/c1TyHV

With the exception of photo stream, iCloud doesn't sync your apps or photos between devices. You will continue to sync this content via iTunes in the same way as you do now.
Photo stream allows you to sync your most recent photos between all devices, you have the option to use photostream or not.

How do I remove one of the calendars from iCloud but keep it on the iPhone to sync with Outlook by USB and keep the other calendars synced on iCloud ?

iPhone 5, Macs and iPads at home, Windoze7 system at work.
Using iCloud to sync calendars, contacts, etc on all the home devices. Used USB cable to sync at work with the Windows system, with the Outlook 2010 corporate account (corporate server). I need only the Outlook calendar to be synced, syncing the contacts created too many problems with duplication, etc. No need for that. Worked fine until the latest upgrate to iOS7 and iTunes 11.1. Used to have a calendar that was not on iCloud and was simply and exclusively syncing between the iPhone and the Windows computer at work. The other 3 calendars synced fine with the macs and iOS devices via iCloud but not with the machine at work - keeping private records private.
Upon the iOS upgrade, all calendars are now on iCloud. I am no longer able to remove one - for security too - from the iCloud and sync it with the Windows computer exclusively. I managed to sync it once on the PC with iTunes by switching iCloud off on the iPhone before connection by USB cable. Trying it again, it tells me that it will erase all items on the Outlook account (the "more than 25% of your records are going to change" alert) and won't add or modify any. I stopped the sync in time...
Tried on the iCloud site for a solution to remove the calendar, nothing.
There is no iCloud setup on this corporate computer - no access permitted. The USB cable connection is the only solution and up to the upgrade of the iOS this went seamlessly.
Any solution out there?

I share a similar situation (usb iTunes sync with Outlook with my corporate laptop; personal calendar on icloud).
With IOS7, at first, iTunes/Windows does not propose Outlook sync anymore. I need to switch off calendar from iTunes to enable usual usb sync with Outlook. I had to sync it twice while checking "replace iphone data" to get a stable behaviour (like before) IOS7.When I try to re-enable icloud calendars, it proposes me to merge them...
I did not test merging so far...
IOS7 and iTunes 11.1 are not completely polished ;-)

IPhone quit syncing with Outlook after disabling iCloud

I have a new iPhone. I hooked it up with a cable to my laptop running Win 7 and did a sync using iTunes with Outlook Pro Plus 2010. Everything sync'd fine (calendar, contacts, notes). I did several syncs. I decided to try syncing with iCloud and so installed iCloud on the pc and turned sync on the phone. It didn't do what I thought it would so I turned it off (selected off on the iphone and uninstalled iCloud off the laptop). At this point, I said I did not want data from iCloud saved on my phone for calendar, but I think I said to save it for the other two apps. I then noticed that I no longer had a "calendar" listed under my calendars (I still have some internet calendars I have linked to), but not the default calendar. I can only save new items to one of the internet calendars. There isn't a "add calendar" button on the phone to add more calendars on the phone - only to add calendars with outlook.com, exchange, gmail, etc.
I tried syncing to Outlook, but it will no longer sync. It will sync notes and contacts fine (I tested both and it seems to be working fine). I have tried closing and rebooting both pc and phone, uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling, resetting sync in itunes, setting sync to push data from the pc to the phone. I turned iCloud sync on for calendar and then shut it back off...but this time, I told it to save the data on the phone. The "calendar" saved from pc showed up on the phone. However, it won't sync with Outlook. In iTunes, it was showing two "calendars" with both selected. I added a new calendar at that point on the phone called calendar. I deleted the other calendars that iCloud added - but still no luck on syncing. After deleting all the iCloud calendars and the added calendar, the two listings in iTunes went away (when syncing was working, there weren't any individual calendars listed in iTunes).
I think the issue is from 1 of 2 things: 1) something got messed up with they sync and it is trying to sync to a blank calendar in my outlook - not looking at the default calendar (unlikely) 2) it can't sync with the phone because the default calendar no longer exists on the phone (likely).
Any ideas on how to recover the default calendar or how to fix the sync issue? I have been trying to find all I can on the internet, but after troubleshooting for several hours, I am at a loss.

I figured out how to recover the calendar and get syncing again (or at least a work around), so thought I would post in case someone else has the issue. To recover the calendar, you need to log out of all calendars on the iPhone and it will recreate the default calendar. When you try to log back into another calendar, it will ask if you want to delete the default and warn that there may be duplicates by not deleting it. Since it was blank, duplicates wasn't a concern.
To recover syncing again, I looked up where the sync files are stored. I copied all folders that looked like they had anything to do with syncing to a temporary folder in case I had issues that I needed to recover from. I then went in and deleted all the sync files I could find from the date I tried to use iCloud. I also deleted the sync database which caused iTunes to not be able to sync correctly. Next, I did a repair on iTunes. When it came back up, it allowed me to reset everything up as if I hadn't sync'd the phone before. It seems to now be working again.

Calendar event entered on iPhone only syncs to imac via iCloud if I quit Calendar program and reopen.

I am new to support community. Was unable to get answer from Genius Bar. Did not have this problem initially (2 weeks ago) but not it has changed.

Yes, iCloud and Outlooks local calendar are 2 different calendars, use 1 only (and if you want to see it on both devices) use the iCloud calendar. Outlooks local calendar is just that, local.

IPhone only syncs to my girlfriend's Macbook Air

Some how along the way, my iPhone syncing transfered from my Macbook Pro to my girlfriend's MBA. When I plug in my phone to my computer, iTunes does not automatically start and when I manually start it, my phone does not appear in the Devices sidebar. When I try to Wifi Sync, my iPhone only wants to sync to her laptop, not mine.
Note, I had the iPhone before the girlfriend (and thus her MBA) so it was syncing to my laptop at one point.
How do I fix this? I want my iPhone to sync to my laptop and her iPhone to sync to hers.

If you have been using wifi syncing with her laptop you first need to disable this by unchecking this on the Info tab of the sync settings on her computer, followed by syncing. Then when you attempt to sync with your MBP, if not done carefully, you will losing everything on your phone. You first need to copy your iTunes library from her computer to yours (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527) unless your music and other media is already in the iTunes library on your MBP. Once done, carefully follow the steps in wjosten's post here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/13356770#13356770 (substitute Outlook for iCal and Address Book in step 2).

IPhone appts synced to Outlook keep disappearing in Outlook

I create appointments on the iPhone. It syncs to Outlook 2007 and generally appears in the day/week/month views. At some point later, the appointment disappears from the day/week/month view.
It is visible, instead, only if I go to the "Outlook Today" view or on the "To-Do Bar". It doesn't show it in the Day View, the Week View, or the Month View. They're always visible on the iPhone.
I feel like a crazy person. Why am I not seeing these appointments in the normal view??
This never happened before 2.0.

- local (non-exchange) outlook 2007
--only one calendar, "Calendar"
- iphone 4gb w/2.0

When I Sync my IPhone with my PC the Calender from my IPhone wont populate my Outlook Calender. There use to be an option to sync too the PC and from the PC. Can someone help me?

Check your iCloud settings on the phone and make sure they aren't checked for mail, if you're synching by USB cable

My iPhone only seems to be syncing my primary google calendar but not the other ones I've created. Any suggestions? I tried using google sync and the exchange server but the issue persisted.

If you want to sync calendar events over the air with your Google calendar and when creating a new event on the iPhone it will be created and synced with your Google calendar automatically, you need to select your Google calendar as your default calendar, not your iCloud account calendar.
