IPhone opens Aperture's import screen

For some reason, when I plug my iPhone into my Mac and Aperture is running, it automatically goes to the import screen. I have application launching disabled in Image Capture, so this only happens when Aperture is already open, but I thought it was a strange behavior. When I connect my digital camera's SD card, Aperture doesn't react and I have to manually click import if I want to import something (this is the way I like it). I would like my iPhone to behave the same way with Aperture. When I plug in my iPhone to sync, 99% of the time, it doesn't meant I want to import photos and its annoying to return my phone to it's cradle after a call and have my photo editing interrupted by an import screen.
Does anybody know if there is a way to disable this auto import feature in Aperture with the iPhone

  • Iphone is showing in import screen, but is not connected

I don't know when this started, but I have recently noticed when I go to the import screen, it shows my iphone and a bunch of pictures/movies that should be importable, but don't actually have anything.  The kicker is, my iphone is not plugged in.  How to I "disconnect" it, so that when I do attach my phone, I can get the actual images.

Try the "Safe Mode" solution mentioned in this post.  I don't remember why it worked -- but it did.
Post back if it does not.

  • Aperture cannot import iPhone 3G screen captures

I have no problem importing regular pictures from the iPhone camera roll into Aperture. All software is the latest version. However I cannot import screen captures from the iPhone. In Aperture's import window, there is a dotted line in a square shape outlining where the screenshot should be, but no image appears and the box can't be selected.

Actually the box can be selected, but you won't be able to see it. I have the iPod touch and the operations are pretty much identical. Any images in that Saved Images folder on the touch or iPhone can be imported into an Aperture Library.
Bring them all in, then delete what you don't need. Then, on the iPhone, go into the folder and delete all of the images, otherwise the next time, they will all be available and, if imported, you will have duplicates.
I guess the way to think about it might be to imagine what a roll of film was like: we could not see the photos, but had a fair idea (on a single roll -- not a major shoot) what we had on there.

  • Why can I not rotate and re-save iPhone photos once I import them to my PC? They are not being saved into a Read-Only folder. And why can't I open them or save them when I email them to myself?

Hi I'm having trouble with the photos from my iPhone.
When I import them to my PC, it won't let me rotate them and re-save them. It says that there is a problem with the file's properties or they may be in a read-only folder. The latter is not the case.
I have tried opening them in several programmes but Windows Photo Viewer is default
Also when I email them to myself I can't open them or save them down to my computer.
Is there a setting on my iPhone that I should change that is impacting on the photo's file properties? This has only just started happening.
    Thanks!

  • HT1296 i gave my iphone 5 to fix, my screen was broken, now i got it back but i cant use it cuz its disabled and ive tried to open it thru itunes and zero results.it just tells me that i have to enter password on the phone but i cant cuz its blocked

i need some help, im trying to get my iphone open but nothing seems to work, my itunes just asking me to enter passcode on the phone and i cant and it doesnt let me do it on itunes so im stuck.

Try this: place the device in recovery mode and restore it to erase the device:
Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to shut down.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
iTunes will alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then restore the device.

  • My iPhone 4s is not importing my latest photos into iPhoto, though it opens iPhoto as if it were going to do it.

My iPhone 4s is not importing my latest photos into iPhoto, though it opens iPhoto as if it were going to do it.  When I plug my iPhone into my iMac, it opens iPhoto, but then it does not import my newest photos.  Any fixes?  This used to work fine.

I have experienced the exact same thing... I figured out a way around it, which seems to work every time. 1. quit iTunes
    2. open iPhoto
    3. unplug the iphone usb cable from the computer
    4. turn your phone on, and unlock it.
    5. plug in the usb cable. after about 10 seconds or so, iPhoto should prompt you with items to import. -p

  • I can't import from my iPhone into Aperture anymore

Since upgrading last night to 10.10.3 and running the new Photos app, I'm unable to import from my iPhone into Aperture. My iPhone does not show up in the Import pane. Anybody else seeing this? or am I missing something?

I agree that Apple screwed Aperture users. I don't understand why. Over the last few years, Apple has dumbed down some applications which makes those apps much less useful. Then they slowly start adding some functions back in for a couple of years then nothing. Look at Pages. It still is missing features that the old pages had.
Apple should have simply given Aperture to everybody and maybe implemented a Simple User function for those people that don't need professional features. Here was an app ready to go and what does Apple do? Get rid of Aperture to come up with a "toy" replacement, as somebody on these discussion boards mentioned. I'm very disappointed in Apple and the direction that some of these apps are taking. I used to enthusiastically push Apple products to everybody but now I mind my own business. It's a sad state of affairs. The whole quality has gone down. All this reminds me of Apple before Steve Jobs took over. Somebody needs to crack the whip over there and focus on quality and useful apps AND listen to the users.

After update iOS 5.1 iPhone 4 camera on lock screen doesn't open the app

    Tonebox,
I couldn't get my camera to work smoothly
the 1st ten times,or so,I tried to open it.
As it turns out,it isn't as pressure sensitive as I have
grown accustomed to, and required a gesture that feels
rather awkward, by comparison to the ones I have been using.

  • Help Verify: Aperture 3 does not regenerate thumbnails at Import screen

Before I consider this to be a bug, can someone else help me verify that Aperture 3 will not regenerate thumbnails at the import screen? Basically, if you have the thumbnail slider middle-ish then slide toward larger thumbnails, Aperture just expands the existing thumbnail, resulting in pixellated thumbnails.
Surprising behavior, to say the least, especially since Lightroom has had this ability since 1.0 beta.

Sorry that was not helpful. I am using the trial version only and HELP states 'Aperture provides a few methods for reconstituting your Aperture library and the file relationships within it.'
To repair or rebuild your Aperture library : - following by empty white space.
Having looked through Aperture Commands under the Aperture Menu I cannot find any likely entry other than I have already mentioned.
    Good luck.

Close out of the camera app, double tap the home button and completely close out of the app.
Then do a reset, no data loss.  Hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up.
Then check your camera roll again.

How could I import the photos I took in iPhone into Aperture 3?  I see nothing when I connect my iPhone to my Mac..
    iPhoto isn't working neither..

I see nothing when I connect my iPhone to my Mac.
Does your Mac not recognize the device? Or is the iPhone recognized, but the import panel does not show any images to import? Is your Photo Stream turned on?
There is a known bug with PhotoStream and AP 3.2.1.
Do you have the current Aperture version 3.2.2? If not, upgrade to 3.2.2.

iPhone 4S - Phone App opens into a blank screen and I have to reboot the phone in order to restart the app and be able to use the phone.  The problem appears intermittently.
How can I fix this so that a reboot is not necessary?
    Thanks!

Try a restore. If that does not work, you most likely have a hardware issue.
