IPhone or Droids?

I just bought the Droid Incredible 3 weeks ago, therefore i DO have the option to return it and then use my upgrade on an iPhone when it is released, but my question is which is the better phone.... Droid Inc. or iPhone??
I do LOVE my Droid, BUT i have been wanting an iPhone foreverrrr, but obviously that was not an option for verizon customers until now.
What are your opinions in the 2 phones?  Which one is the actual better phone??

I think it is all a matter of personal preference. I had an iPhone 3G, then switched to the Droid Incredible, and I plan to go back to the iPhone now.
Here are my own personal reasons for wanting to go back:
DInc feels a little "cheap" by comparison. Within a month of having it, the silver 'H' on the back peeled off. The T soon followed suit, so I decided to just peel off the C on my own before it had a chance to. My husband's has the same issue. I also have a hard time plugging the phone in - I have a lot of damage around the port now.
Lack of accessories for the DInc. There are no docks for it, only mounts, and they have terrible reviews for the most part. HTC seems to have thrown this phone out the window as soon as the Evo came out. Which is sad, because I still do think it's a great little phone.
I feel that the web browsing experience on iPhone is much smoother and easier than on Android.
I like the more "polished" feel of iOS. App icons are consistent, and the titles are limited in characters so that they don't disappear off the end. Things just feel sleeker and more streamlined to me.
The Apple App Store is, in my opinion, better than the Andorid Marketplace (if you're not a developer, that is). I'm constantly seeing ads for apps that I want that are available on iPhone only. Additionally I feel like browsing the Marketplace I'm overwhelmed by a lot of junk apps and it's hard to fish out the really great ones by comparison.
Conversely, here are a few of the things I feel like I'm going to be giving up by going back to iPhone:
You don't have to use iTunes with Android. Updates push automatically to your phone without having to plug it in and sync it, and it's much easier to put music on the droid.
It's much easier to put custom ringtones, images, etc on a droid than iPhone.
The turn-by-turn navigation and maps on Andorid can't be beat.
There are some other "downsides" too, like lack of widgets and customization options, so if you like to do a lot of tinkering the droid may be the better choice for you. For me though, I love that iPhone right out of the box gives me everything I want in a stable, polished fashion...and I like the fact that there are myriad accessories to choose from. At the end of the day, I would try to get your hands on an iPhone and play around with it a bit to see how you like it.
edited to add: Oh yeah, my DInc randomly reboots by itself 2-3 times per month, like it just did a minute ago. This is my 2nd replacement phone and they've all done that. The call quality is tin-can sounding, and the battery life is garbage. Other reasons I'm switching back to iPhone.

  • Iphone or droid?

I have been a iPhone user for 2 yrs and always recommended it to everyone until 2 weeks ago... My phone died and my upgrade is not available until august. :-( I'm sure my fellow IPhone users can feel my pain .. Although I've always been pro iPhone I looked into their competition, mostly the android type phones and realized the iPhone may not be my next choice.. We have service with AT&T , which doesn't seem to offer many android type phones with their service.. I added a line for my daughter and went with a motorola backflip , she loves it and so do but not enough to replace my iPhone upgrade with it ... I am impressed with the speed, multi tasking ability, camera features, 32G sd card ( which came free with the phone!) battery life , and the android apps...many are free and some are exactly like the apps I paid for through iTunes ! It's a really great phone if you don't mind the motoblur installed theme ... I've heard rumors of the next iPhone being better then any droid and vice versa. I was hoping to get some advice from users of both iPhone and Droid... Is AT&T getting another android phone anytime soon? If not is getting a droid worth changing to verizon?

AT&T just announced the end of unlimited data. The iPhone 4G will be just as lackluster and as locked down asd the previous versions, and you'll still be on the worst network in the country (AT&T). You'll still have Steve Jobs deciding what you want and when you want it. It still wont have an AMOLED screen and wont do high def. Why would anyoen even consider an iPhone? Android is the way to go. It has already taken more market share than the iPhone. It has far better hardware. It is open source. No brainer. Apple-bots and fanbois will line up for the next generation of fluff, but those who are serious about their phones will not even give the iPhone a serious look.

  • TXTing from iPhone to Droid (one sentence/line at a time)

I have an iPhone 6, when I txt a friend who has a Droid, she receives one line at a time instead of the entire paragraph. Only with me, not her daughter who also has an iPhone. Any ideas what the problem might be?

That's not what home sharing is for or how it works.
    You want the remote app.

  • Texting between Iphone and Droid

I previously had an Iphone and switched to a droid. My mom and  2 sisters have iphones. My mom's text messages come through to my phone but I can't recieve my sisters texts. I have told them to try and hold down the imessage and select send as a text message and they have deleted my phone number and entered it back in. I also have gone onto my iTunes account and deleted my iphone off of it. What else can I do to fix this?

When your sisters entered your phone number again, did they enter it as "mobile" as opposed to "iPhone"?  When your sisters send you a text message, are they starting a new thread now or using an existing message thread?  They need to use a new message thread in order for the message to get to you.
Other than this, you have done most of the things that should be done.  The worst case scenario is that you would have to wait until 30 days have passed since you switched phones and your text messages should start coming in at that point.

  • Can I switch back to my old iPhone from Droid?

So, I had an iphone for two years and loved it.  When my contract was up, something possessed me to try a Droid.  Well, now I am experiencing major remorse.  I want my iphone back.  I still have the old phone.  Can I switch back to it?  I know that Droid and iphone use different kinds of cards or something, so I know it's not as easy as replacing a sim card, but is it possible?  How much would it cost?  Thank you!!!

Before you decide to change back, bear in mind that the iPhone 3G is not supported for the latest iOS version  so you will be out of the loop for some of the more recent features available to 3GS and iPhone 4 unless you upgrade your hardware to 3GS or 4.

  • Sending pictures from iPhone to Droid does not work

I have a iphone and my husband has a droid.  He can not receive any picture I send him in text messages.  I thought it was just his phone but I recently tried sending to another Droid device and the same thing happened.  Does anybody know what setting is causing this to happen?

    Thanks for the reply.
I have had this problem for over a year.  No I have not upgraded to the new OS and I don’t want to at this time.  The error I get in a text message is Message Send Failure, Not delivered,  and it fails right away, doesn’t seem like it even tries. I got the same thing the other day attempting to send a picture via text message to a blackberry device too.  The recipient gets no message at all.  I reset set my network settings like you suggested and it did not help.
My husband, who has the Droid, cannot send any pictures via text only email.  Sounds like an SMS problem.  If you could fix both are problems that would be awesome!
I look forward to you next troubleshoot step.

  • Iphone and droid group message problem

I recently got the iphone 6.  I have a group text comprised of iphone and non iphone users.  If the discussion is just between the non iphone users the messages send properly (as a sms).  However, when an iphone user responds it automatically converts to iMessage and non iphone users stop receiving the group txt.  HELP!?!?!

I had an iphone 5 and switched to Samsung galaxy S5 in August 2014.  Went through all the processes of de-registering number with apple imessage and had no problems with getting group messages from iPhone users.  Then, about beginning of January, no longer could receive group messages from my iPhone friends.  A couple have upgraded to the 6 but others had not.  I have a pending case with ATT support, worked with Samsung support and did a factory reset, still no fix.  I had two of my friends turn off iMessage today and send the group text, guess what?  IT WORKED.  So I totally agree, something has happened, maybe with a recent iOS update, not sure.  But, they cannot send me group texts with iMessage turned on.  Need help because I cannot afford to switch back to iPhone just so I can group text, but I'm getting left out of important information and events.  VERY FRUSTRATED!!!!!!

  • Apple Iphone vs Droid?

Hi, I am debating on whether to get a Apple iphone 4, or stay with my LG/Androids. (Can't afford the iphone5) Is the iphone 4 a good choice? Thanks.

Here's a few comparisons between Androids and the iPhone 5:

And as gina pointed out, if you go with an Apple, this article talks about why a 4S is a good choice over a 5:

  • WHAT IS THE BENEFIT OF IPHONE VS DROID NOW THAT DATA PACKAGES HAVE BEEN RESTRICTED?

please help me decide to get the sprint HTC EVO OR IPHONE4???
NOW that data plans have been destroyed by verizon...what is the benefit of iphone???

There are just about as many opinions on this as there are people...
Just a few from my perspective: Superior usability, consistency of the UI across devices, quality and quantity of apps available and the increasing occurance of malware on the Android platform.

  • Will the iPhone 5 have a keyboard

I would personal switch to iPhone from droid if it had an keyboard

    If it's really that necessary: http://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Bluetooth-Sliding-Keyboard-Rubberized/dp/B0052CHO S2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1324589869&sr=8-1
It's a bluetooth keyboard, so just setup the keyboard in Settings. It should charge via USB. Works with iPhone 4 and 4S.
I made the switch from a Droid 1 to the iPhone. It felt weird not having a keyboard but now it's just natural.

  • Making a Capitvate movie for the iPhone

    Hi all.
I am looking to do online training for an iPhone using Captivate.  I have done this before using SOTI and skins for other Windows Devices but SOTI does not support iPhone or Droid (another movie I need to do).
Basically I am looking for an iPhone simulator where my iPhone would be displayed on my screen and I can capture all of the movements on the device using Captivate.
Has anyone done any iPhone training of this sort?  I don't want to download the Apple SDK since that's on a Mac and Captivate doesn't run on Macs.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks..
    Erika

Hi Erika--  This probably won't be too much help to you now, but I've seen a demo online of the upcoming Flash CS5 which contains a "Publish to iPhone" option.  In theory, you could export out your Captivate project to Flash CS5, then publish from there.  (Unless, of course, Adobe includes this publish to iPhone capability in Captivate 5.)
    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/flashcs5/appsfor_iphone/
Again, I'm sure this isn't very useful to you now, but depending on your timing need (and Adobe's rollout of CS5), maybe this could be a option for you.
    Good luck!
    Joel
Edit> sorry, I just re-read your message and realized what I posted isn't what you're looking for at all.  Instead, you're looking to capture activity FROM an iPhone.  Have you thought about "ScreenFlow" or one of the other Mac screen capture utilities using the Apple iPhone SDK?  ScreenFlow captures in QuickTime format, but you could use the Adobe Video Encoder to convert to FLV to use in Captivate.  (Convoluted, I realize, but it might achieve what you're looking for...)

  • Unable to text a contact on Droid Turbo

I just made the switch from iPhone to Droid and so far not a good experience. I'm trying to compose a new text message and I keep receiving this error...
Invalid Recipient...will not be added to the recipient list
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

I deleted contact then added to contacts and works fine now. I think one of the numbers got added as a fax number when transferred from the dark side. So just make sure they are described correctly, mobile, work, home,etc...

  • Cisco Mobile 8.0 for Iphone and Presence

Is there any plan to provide Presence and IM to the Mobile 8.0 client in the future?

    1.     When will the updated 8.0 version be available for Iphone that will operate in the background?
8.0 on iPhone has been available for a while.  There's no ETA on next release (8.5 maybe?)
    2.     When will a Droid version be available?
    ETA Nov 2010.
    3.      If you are committed to Iphone an Droid only (no bberry or symbian os),  is there any reason to implement the Cisco Unified Mobility product?
Not sure what Cisco Unified Mobility product you were referring to.
"Cisco Unified Mobility" is the feature on CUCM that provides SNR (Single Number Reach), MVA (Mobile Voice Access) and EFA (Enterprise Feature Access).  It has nothing to do with iPhone or Droid.

  • New Iphone can't send or receive texts from non-Iphone contacts

Okay Verizon, you finally convinced me to get a smartphone so I can text, etc. Now I find that only other Iphone users  can get my text messages. This is very annoying. My family members are Verizon and other carriers, Iphone and Droid users but I find that only some can receive or send me messages. What is up with this?

That is because you are not sending texts, but iMessages. iMessage is an Apple proprietary messaging system which DOES NOT utilize SMS, but instead chooses to send messages counted against your data allowance. iMessage is ALSO only available to Apple phones.
Go into your settings > messages > make sure that the box is checked to send as SMS if iMessage is not available is checked. This way, when your iPhone cannot send an iMessage to a contact, it will send an SMS.
Personally, I think you should completely disable iMessage and only send SMS messages. With Verizon, most plans now include unlimited texting and an allowance for data. If you use iMessage, these messages will count against your data allowance where these same messages sent as SMS would not since you most likely have unlimited texting on your account.
    Good luck.

  • IPhone to Galaxy S4 not receiving text messages

I recently switched from iPhone to Samsung Galaxy S4.  Now when I send a text message to an iPhone user, they are receiving my text messages but I can only get their responses on my iPad (iMessaging).  Anyone know how I can correct this to get their responses on my new Galaxy S4?

i recently switched from iphone to droid maxx and i FINALLY figured it out. everyone was telling me to unregister it from icloud, itunes, apple. going to apple support was 0 help and verizon 0 help. it shouldn't have to be this way, but all i did was change the password on my apple ID and i started receiving messages again from iphone users. i hope this helps someone because everyone complaining about the issue isn't helping those who need it fixed. obviously verizon, apple and droid need to have a talk.
