IPhone or iPad for ebooks

Just curious if I'm the only one who prefers the iPhone rather than the iPad for reading ebooks. I prefer the one handed operation and I guess I got used to it over the past year before the iPad was available.

I think most people will use their Amazon Kindle account over their iBooks account. Aside from a Kindle device, you can use your native OS (iPhone/iPad/Android) and carry over your books.
iBooks has a more revolutionary graphical compared to Kindle. The Kindle just flips right away. Doesn't have the fancy graphic of actually grabbing a page, pulling it from the top downwards or curling the page before actually flipping it, or even resizing the words, or changing font type.
It also doesn't have PDF viewing. Just grabs Kindle books we've already spent our hundred dollars of collected downloadable books.
Back on hand, I'm into using iBooks over Kindle. I only have one or two Kindle books, no biggy. I just bought a handful of iBooks for the fancy graphics. I would go iPad, but I already have the i4 and I prefer internet on the go. I would have to cancel my iPhone plan and get the iPad plan which would cost me $350 now plus the restock fee plus the iPad pricing of $700-$900. Not really wanting to pay $2000 in total for all that.

  • TS4062 I've done all of these recommended steps.  My problem is that I have a new laptop that I am trying to sync my iPhone (and iPad for that matter) via Wi-Fi but both devices are looking for the old laptop to sync.  Any other suggestions?

I've done all of these recommended steps.  My problem is that I have a new laptop that I am trying to sync my iPhone (and iPad for that matter) via Wi-Fi but both devices are looking for the old laptop to sync.  My iTunes is version 11.0..3.42, iPhone is 6.1.4, and iPad 6.1.3.  Any suggestions?

All I had to do was complain.  I synced my iPhone to the Windows machine, checked the other account at iTunes prompting (where no apps had shown up previously), reconnected the iPad, and 140 apps downloaded including the App Store.  I have no idea why.

  • Can stereo be input to iphone or ipad for making video

I am trying to record video but want to use the out jacks of my hifi amp for audio at the same time, is this possible with iphone 4 or ipad, in stereo? Guess you could say I want to use my iphone or ipad on occasion like a normal video camera but I want the stereo input to transfer to my desktop for editing.

Well, since Microsoft has never made a version of IE for iOS, the answer is no.

  • HT3819 I am a teacher. I have an iPhone and iPad for personal use.  I also have an iPod and now an iPad for school use.  Would it be best for me to use home sharing on all 4 devices, or should I split my account and have separate accounts for home & schoo

My first i device was an iPod touch that I was given for use in my classroom.  Then I got an iPhone for personal use.  Both items are listed under the same username and account.  Since then I now have 2 iPads, one for home and one for work.  I have many apps that are only for work like Math Zombie and Science Facts, and many that are for personal use, like Facebook and YouVersion.  I know that I can synch each device and tell iTunes which apps go on which device.  However at home I use a Mac, and my school computer is a PC.  I am wondering if I should split my account and keep personal separate from work.  Then I can synch all school related devices on the PC and home devices on the Mac.  I realize that there maybe the rare occaision that I might want one app for both accounts.  That's the chance I take on splitting my account.  Are there ay benefits one way or the other?

Will you be the person paying for apps on both accounts?
Are you the only person that will use both of the iPads?
Is there a chance students will be using the work iPad and if so, do you want personal data stored on it?
If you're the only one using it I'd keep the same account just to have the flexibility of having access to everything on all devices. If your students will be using it or if the school is paying for the school apps I'd keep separate accounts. It all depends on how often you will use school apps from home, and home apps at school. Just some things to consider...

  • Can I connect iPhone to iPad for direct backup and download?

I am a Windows 7/64 user. I have an iPhone 4 and am thinking of buying an iPad, cheaper than a whole new Mac. I regarded the iPad as a small computer, and thought that one might use it to make backups of the iPhone and download eg films or other stuff from it. Now a friend told me that it is not even possible to connect the two devices to one another and that any interaction between the two would have to go through a computer. So what is the use of the iPad, when it is no more than a heavy and clumsy iPhone?

I do not fully understand all of the ins and outs of iCloud either. I use iCloud in very "limited doses".  The greatest feature of iCloud - IMO - is that you can download purchased content again at no charge as long as you use the same Apple ID. There are some limitations based on where you live - but in the U.S - all of this is available to you.
I also use iCloud to back up my Pages documents and currently only the Apple iWorks suite of apps, pages, Numbers and Keynote, can make use of this feature of iCloud - As far as I know.  The changes that I make on the documents will sync to my iPod Touch and I can download the documents from my iCloud.com account in order to work on them on my Mac. Revise them on the Mac, upload to my account again - and they appear on the iPad and the Touch with revisions in place.
iCloud is still in its infancy, and even if it was "foolproof" or as foolproof as anything can be, I would never count on the cloud only to store my important files. I still backup to iTunes on my Mac and I backup my Mac with Time Machine. The use of iTunes is simply the vehicle through which all of your purchased content can be transferred to your computer for safe keeping. iTunes will store your media, apps and photos - and the backup process using iTunes - provides a way to save your settings, app data, camera roll photos, bookmarks, - in essence - the "stuff" that your apps produce - if that makes sense to you.
Read this to learn more about iCloud. This is covers everything from soup to nuts. The articles contain links to other articles with more information as well. You may even want to peruse the iCloud forum for more information.

  • What should I do to have continuity between my iPhone and iPad for gaming applications

I would like to have the same content on my IPhone and on my new Ipad, especially for the games. I would like to start an activity on my IPhone and continue on my Ipad. Now, I don't find the way to upload the content of my IPhone  on my Ipad and to synchronize them.
Thank you if you can help

To to http://iforgot.apple.com and sign in with your iCloud ID. A new password will be sent to the associated email address.
It this doesn't work, go to https://getsupport.apple.com ; click 'More Products and Services, then 'Apple ID', then 'Other Apple ID Topics' then 'Lost or forgotten Apple ID password'.

  • Help to undo a sync'd iphone and ipad for imessages

I recently went on vaction in ohio, i left my ipad back at home, and my father snyc'd the number to my iphone and my ipad. is there anyway to remotely remove my snyc'd number from the ipad? i already tried changing my apple id picture, also ive been on icloud and removed it aswell...please help

Oh, so you don't want your phone number linked to your iMessage on your iPad. The way to fix it, is to sign out of iMessage and Facetime on both devices. You then need to sign into the iPhone iMessage first, then the iPad. The only way I can see to fix it with your iPad in a different state would be to wipe it in iCloud.

  • I can't activate my iPhone or iPad for Match

I finally got my library uploaded - which took a lot longer than expected.  But it's complete now.
There is nothing to turn on or activate for Match when I go to Settings>Music on either of my devices so I don't have access to my libraray on Match.  I have turned the devices off and on. I have tried to subscribe (which is the only alternative I have related to Match) again but when I do I'm told I already have a subscription.  What do I do now?

    Michael Allbritton,
Pardon me for jumping into this change of posts but I have been trying figure out this discussion thing so that I can connect to you about my issue.  If this is the place to do it, please direct me.
But seeing as I am here trying to get to you,  I read another post about not transferring everything in itunes to the iphone.  Your answer was setting it to transfer just checked songs.  Well when I go into itunes all the songs are checked and I can't figure out how to uncheck them or where to check them.  I tried unchecking a couple songs and they disappeared.  Grrr.  Also, my second question if you don't mind is this.  My iphone was synced to my other laptop which is now dead.  So it is not doing its thing on the new one.  If I chose to unsync with the old laptop it says everything will be gone.  Now is everything jus the songs in the area under the icon called Music.
You have such great information I am hoping you can help me with this.
Firstly, the reason I am not getting any response on my second laptop is because iphone is still synched to old one.
Secondly, all the songs in my itunes library are checked for some reason, and how do I safely unchecked them all so that I can check what I want only.  Kidd Karrim

  • I am using the same Apple id for my iPhone and iPad! Does this cause a problem with apps?

I Was told I should use a whole different I'd with my iPad because if I have both my phone and iPad with the same Apple id it will cause conflict with the apps on each of them. Does this happen?

No. I've been using the same Apple ID on my iPhone and iPad for years without problems. If fact, if both devices are yours and you use both devices having the same Apple ID on each of them is preferable.

  • Numbers for Mac does not show all stored Numbers files in iCloud that are already in use on iPhone and ipad

I have been using Numbers on both iPhone and iPad for a while and have about 8 files stored on iCloud. I have just purchased Numbers for Mac but I do not see any of my files stored in iCloud. I have created a test spreadsheet on my Mac which says it is stored on iCloud when I choose File - Open on my Mac but this test file does not appear on Numbers on iPhone or iPad.

I have tried all what you have suggested but still no luck. I am unable to locate the file Mobile Documents in either the Library folder under Mac HD or Mac HD - System - Library.
If you've set up iCloud properly on the Mac then in your Library there will be a Mobile Documents folder with documents in it:
Everything else syncs absolutley fine such as contacts, mail, notes, pictures etc etc.
Contacts, Mail, etc. sync via another iCloud protocol. For Numbers you need 'Documents & Data' turned on, per the screenshot upthread.
Numbers appears twice under iCloud for some reason though -
Numbers doesn't appear "under iCloud".  Numbers uses iCloud to sync. Not sure what your screenshot is showing. On the Mac your Numbers will be here (in Finder):

My calendar appointments show for future events, but disappear once I reach the day of the event.  So I can see tomorrow's appointments now, but they will be gone tomorrow.  Why is this happening?  It's on my iPhone and iPad.

For what it's worth, you posted this in 2011, and here in 2014 I am still having this same issue. Over the last two days, I have had to unlock my apple account 8 times. I didn't get any new devices. I haven't initiated a password reset. I didn't forget my password. I set up two factor authentication and have been able to do the unlocking with the key and using a code sent to one of my devices.
    That all works.
It's this having to unlock my account every time I go to use any of my devices. And I have many: iMac, iPad, iPad2, iPad mini, iPhone 5s, iPod touch (daughter), and my old iPhone 4 being used as an ipod touch now.  They are all synced, and all was working just fine.
I have initiated an incident with Apple (again) but I know they are just going to suggest I change my Apple ID. It's a simple one, and one that I am sure others think is theirs. I don't want to change it. I shouldn't have to. Apple should be able to tell me who is trying to use it, or at least from where.
    Thanks for listening,
    Melissa

  • Push isn't working for email on iPhone or iPad using aol

Push isn't working for my email on iPhone and iPad for aol carrier

I have the paid AOL accounts, and they were supposed to get back to me today and have not, thus far. It has to be an issue with AOL's email server.  The tech that I spoke to over the weekend said that he thought that it may be an issue with their server.  Almost 3 weeks ago, AOL's email server was hacked.  They said that 2% of their accounts were affected, and one of my AOL accounts was in that 2%.  They didn't admit for over a week that it was their server that had been hacked, and instead made everyone affected think that it had been their own computers that had been hacked.  I have to believe that this is an AOL issue again.  Everything was working fine with my iPhone and my iPad, and suddenly my email was nolonger being pushed on Thurs night/early Friday.  If I get an answer from AOL, I will certainly post it here.

  • Virtual Leash between iPhone and iPad mini

    Hello,
Is there any application working like a virtual leash between an Iphone 4S and an Ipad mini?
My problem is I already use bluetooth between my Iphone and Ipad for getting internet from the Iphone to the Ipad.
Devices I have seen are using bluetooth as well and will stop my connection for internet I guess.
    Thank's for your help.
    Etienne

No. You can sync Apps by using the Same apple ID on both devices. But the Apps contents remains on the device unless it has a specific feature that backs up to the cloud or something similar that can then be retrieved on the other device.

  • ITunes crash every time I try to update iPhone or iPad apps

I have a iMac which I have used to sync my iPhone and iPad for years. But now it has started acting wierd when I am downloading updates to my APPs. It usually freeze after some apps are downloade. First the weel just keeps spinning, then the whole iMac freezes and I have to restart. When I restart the iTunes library needs to be updated and the whole library of APPs is emty. Trying to downloade the APPs again from the "cloud" just freezes it all up again.
I have tried to downloade the puchesed APPs to my Mac Book Pro and that worked fine, but have anoyne any idea whats going on with my iMac iTunes (running Lion)

So the Mac you have did you buy it new or used?
If you bought it used you have to contact Apple and have it removed from the original owners name and Apple ID and then register it under your Apple ID.
The iLife apps on newer Mac computers, ones that came with Lion or newer version of OS X , are now tied to the Apple ID of the original owner. No other Apple ID and password can be used to do any updates on them or Re-Download them if you wipe the drive. That is until you have that Mac's serial number removed from the origiinal owners Apple ID.

  • HT204053 is there a way to backup about 50 devices (some Iphones, some Ipads) to the same Icloud account

I am the sole IT for a company that is using Iphones, and Ipads for all of our sales people.  what we have had happen in the past is a sales person decides to quit but before he does, he will wipe out all of the info (customer contacts, sales information...) off of the Iphone, and Ipad.  we are wanting to backupall of these devices(40-50 of them) to either the Icloud, or maybe there is another option?  What I was reading is that the Icloud limits the conection to 10 devices.  is there maybe a business icloud, or something like that?  thanks for the info.
    Jake

    Welcome to the Apple community.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
When you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
