IPhone OS 3.1.1 Update - When?
Does anyone know when Apple is planning to release a 3.1.1 update for iPhones? It seems like an unusually large number of people are experiencing major problems with version 3.1 and it's been almost a month now with no fixes from Apple. This is very frustrating to have an expensive phone that only works part of the time.

I gave up waiting for 3.1.1 and returned my 3.1 phone for one that (fortunately) has 3.0 on it. I'm not sure I'd take this route if I had a new phone, since what Apple gives is refurbished phones. Since the phone that I turned in was already a refurb - my new phone's GPS was broken - I didn't mind exchanging phones.
Now that I'm back on 3.0, I'm not having any problems with the phone...

My Ipnoe 3gs said it had updates when connected to my laptop, so Ihave let it back up then clicked update. It would not update and said it had an unknown error. Now it is trying to restore but it has been plugged in restoring for over an hour and nothing seems to be happening. Can anyone help?? Please,
Try putting it in recovery mode:

If you can't put it in to recovery mode, try using DFU mode (which is basically recovery mode with iPhones having more serious issues):

If it does go in to recovery mode but you are still having this issue when restoring it, try it on a different computer.
It is good that you let it back up. After it restores to factory settings, you can then use itunes to restore it from the backup and get your goodies back:

I manually manage my music on my iPhone 4S but I used to be able to update song information, lyrics for example, in iTunes and it would update on my iPhone when I synced it. It no longer does that. I've never had this problem before and I updated both iTunes and the iPhone firmware and no luck. I don't think this is something new in iOS (at least I hope Apple isn't that stupid), so does anyone have any ideas?
Hello! Unfortunately, MusicFree got removed from the app store, along with all the other music downloader apps. We hope to release a new version of it, but it will not have the downloading capabilities.

please please help. today i tried to update my iphone 5 with the most recent update and it crashed. i had to restore it but i noticed that about 90 of my photos were deleted. i didnt back the phone up but i need to recover those photos. how can i do it?
If it's in recovery mode, the data is already gone. Why did you never back up your important data?

IPhone 5s won't install updates, when I try, it just opens the app
I have an iPhone 5s. Whenever I press the update button, the app doesn't update. The update button is working more as a button that opens the specific app I'm trying to update. I am very frustrated. I had an iPhone 5s with a previous phone company and didn't experience this issue.

I have a iPhone 3GS and my husband has an iPhone 4, both phones are updated. We added iMessage the them both and at first it was great, the messages appear in the text messages under the phone contacts and when I send a text message it will either be a green message or a blue one for (iMessage) depending on the signal. Now when my husband sends a text message to me I don't get them all or some days none. When I send him a text message he gets them from my email address. I cannot send him a standard text anymore my phone only wants to iMessage, so if the signal is not right it just sits there undelivered???
I also have a friend who that we regularly texted each other, for the past 4 months I can receive her texts but she never gets mine? And I have tried countless times, now iv given up trying and I don't use texting to either, but everyone else no problem.You and your husband can share a store account and still have seperate iCloud accounts for your contacts, bookmarks and stuff like that. Click here for instructions to make an apple account without entering a credit card. Make sure you use a different email address for each apple account.
Set up your iPhone/iPad whatever using the new account for iCloud. Then go into settings/store and sign in with your purchasing account, you may need to sign out of the other account. To the best of my knowledge, your household is allowed to share purchased legally, someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
Once you each have your own devices set to your own accounts you can set them to backup to that account and it will keep all your contacts seperate. -
I have one iPhone 4s, one iPad 2 and wife's iPhone 4s. yesterday I have updated all with ISO 8 under one apple id, now my problem is that in same WiFi when Any of phone receive phone all the three gazettes ring simultaneously . how to resolve this.

rbvTell your wife to get her own Apple ID. If you do not want continuity/handoff to work with calls, on both devicesgo to Settings==>>FaceTime==>> Turn OFF iPhone cellular calls.

IPhone question: Im trying to update applications on my iphone. When I do it I'm as for password from a different Apple ID from what I have in Itunes. How do I change so that both are the same?
All apps are tied to the apple id that it was used to purchase or download the app.
did you use a different id to buy the app?

My folders that my message rules on iCloud divert emails to don't update when I open Mail on my iPad or iPhone. Only the inbox does. I have to click on each folder individually for it to update. A real pain as I have about 30 folders. Is there a way around this ? The folders update on my mac fine when i check mail without having to select each one of them. Can the iPad and iPhone do the same thing?
My Mac has 4 mail accounts coming into it, but you are correct, one of them is a POP account, (and unfortunately it is the main @ account, and is the one associated with my apple id, since we've had it for years). I couldn't figure out how to replace this with the Imap version, short of deleting that account entirely.
Is this what I have to do?

My iphone is in recovery mode, and when i connect it to my computer it makes the connected noise and itunes finds it, it starts to restore and update but it gets to the point where it says waiting for iphone. My compuer hasnt connected my iphone. i dont know how to make it conect :S Someone help! ive been trying for three hours!
i have, its connected to my sisters computer,it starts to restore then says there was a problem downloading the software for the iphone, the network connection has timed out. what does this mean?

iPhone 4 went into recovery mode when trying to restore it. Now the only option iTunes allows is for "restore & upgrade", it is not offer an option to restore from a backup, says that must first do the upgrade, when attempting to do the upgrade the iPhone won't accept it.
How can I restore from a back up in recovery mode when the only option is "restore and upgrade"?

Please can someone help me to solve the error message "Could not activate cellular data network: PDP authentication failure"when using 3G or GPRS on safari with an iphone 4GS and latest software updates. I have tried resetting the network and phone settings. I have restored the factory settings on itunes and still the problem persists.
All iPhones sold in Japan are sold carrier locked and cannot be officially unlocked by the carrier. If you unlocked it, it was by unauthorized means (hacked), and support cannot be given to you in this forum.
Hacked iPhones are subject to countermeasures by Apple, particularly when updating the firmware. It is likely permanently re-locked or permanently disabled.

Neither my iPod Touch nor my iPhone will show up in iTunes when I plug in through the USB cable. My software is updated, I've restarted everything, I've reset the devices, but still no luck. Help?!
Check your System Profiler to see if your computer is recognizing them. You may need to reset the computers SMC.

I plugged my iphone in to do an update and it was mid way through the update when the phone was accidentally disconnected. Now the phone is stuck on the screen that shows a cable and the iTunes image suggesting the phone needs to be plugged in to iTunes. I have plugged it in, powered on and off, attempted to enter DFU mode numerous times all with no success. ITunes does not recognize the phone and I continue to only receive the screen saying I need to plug in to iTunes.. Please help!
Hold Sleep Button with Home Button toghether until it restarts Always it takes 8 to 15 seconds, after it restarts leave the sleep button and remember do not leave the home button it automaticlly switches to DFU mode.

My MacBook Pro that is running on Mac OS X 10.6.8 won't update software that I need in order to download the newest iTunes software to connect to my iPhone 6. Problem is that when I go to update, it restarts the computer but never updates any of the software.

When you buy an upgrade disk, all updates in that OS can be found on Software Update.
For instance, I bought Snow Leopard at 10.6.
All other updates have been free and downloadable. So I'm not a 10.6.7.
10.4 (Tiger) went to 10.4.11.
10.5 (Leopard) went to 1.5.8
10.6(Snow Leopard) is currently at 10.6.7.
Now, when Lion come out (the next major upgrade of OSX), I will have to pay to go to 10.7.
After that, updates are free til 10.8 comes out.
