IPhone OS 3.1 changed my ipod albums!!

I listen to music on the ipod on my iphone by albums and when I updated to OS 3.1 it screwed everything up. If an album has features or different artists my albums list now shows that song as another album(same name) and not part of a whole album. Example: I have a mixtape called New Orleans Next 2 Blow which features songs by many different artists and instead of all the songs being under the album title, now each song is listed seperatley because not all the songs are by one artist. This was never a problem before! How do I fix this??

I was thinking that I was perhaps going slightly mad as I have the same problem. I looked at iTunes and the songs were listed as being part of the album, and it wasn't something like there being an extra space at the end of the album name for one or more songs, which would be invisible but would cause a problem, however, you'd see that in iTunes as being two album entries.
I did notice that for some of these odd entries, some had artwork and others did not, perhaps another reason why they don't show up grouped as they should.
I've erased all music and playlists from my iPhone (I only had one playlist, 3GS, which I'd setup specifically so I knew what music was on my iPhone)
I'm about to copy over one of the albums I have seen the issue with and see if I can work out what is going on and how to fix it. I have a feeling it could well be, as others have said, that the "Part of a Compilation" option needs to be set. There is some sense as from the sound of it, the albums we see issues with are actually compilation albums, but I've not had this problem before with any of the iPod's I have owned.
I'm also going to have a look at my iTunes settings as I recall there being some option about grouping compilations and I'm wondering a) what it's set to, and b) what happens if I change the setting, perhaps iTunes will then display things in the same way as the iPod, which would be something, and would make trying to track down what is happening possibly somewhat easier as the results would not require a sync as it's on your local music library.
I'll report back what I find.

  • Why is the order of my playlists different on my iPhone than on my computer or iPod?

Why is the order of my playlists different on my iPhone than on my computer or iPod?  To clarify, I'm asking about the order of the playlists themselves (should be alpha) and not the order of the songs in the playlist.  I have an iPhone 4S running iOS 5.0.1, and a MacBook Pro running 10.7.2.

I beleive when Photo Stream first started it only sent photos to other devices and didn't delete them so you'll have to start fresh. Be aware it can take a little time for the changes to take effect depending on your upload speed of your internet.
I think to start out you'll have to delete all the photos on each device first which will also delete the new ones from the stream. Make an album in iPhoto on your Mac with all the photos in My Photo Stream. Then delete all the photos on Photo Stream on all devices then add all the photos back to My Photo Stream on the Mac.
May I suggest setting up a Shared Photo Stream for this purpose and keep the My Photo Stream for the new photos taken with your devices. Also be aware of the 30 day 1000 photo limits on Photo Stream.

    - How did you dlete stuff from the iPod? If you have a 1G or 2G iPod and deleted the stuff by going to Settings>Genera.>Reset>Erase aall contents and settings without being connected to a power source, the battery dies before he erase was comleted since it can take hour.
    - In any event try the following:
    - Connect to a chaging sour for three hours.
    - Reset the iPod and then connect to the computer and try to restore va iTunes.
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Next try placing the iPod in recovery moe and then try to restore. For recovery mode:

    - Last try DFU made and restore.

1st - itunes downloaded to my ipod albums that are all fractured, compilation albums are seperated. This should not have happened but itunes felt it knew better. I do not like it.
2nd - While trying to fix it, itunes made all albums and artists unknown
3rd - While trying to get an answer I am unable to contact anyone or even send an email requesting an answer.
4th - While trying to use the "fast lane" i ran into trying to find the product S/N, I went to my account and it was not there. I tried to see it on the back of the Ipod but had to find a magnifying glass to even read it.
5th  -- The we will get back to you really ****** me off
6th  -- I have wasted 2 hours to fix something that should not have happened and the situation is worse than when i started
7Th  --- Itunes management of songs is terrible and there are NO instructions and even worse no support
8th  ----  Apple is going down the toilet because the products are good, not great, and the itunes instructions are non existent
9th  --- to even suggest i pay for product support is insulting and a sign that apple is desperate
10th -The suggestion for online feedback is this; BE ON-LINE SUPPORT, NOT WHATEVER YOU CONSIDER IT TO BE NOW.

    I agree with stevejobsfan - (0123).
However, if what you actually want to do is to fix/sort out your problem, why no try posting a question on that subject?
For starters - you can re-name the tracks in your iTunes library, so it is possible to correct the changes that you must have made that mean that songs are now "unknown artists and albums."

  • Ipod album problems: Several times the same album

Hello, since 9 months I try to fix this problem with Ipod/Iphone:
I have 50 Traks in a album folder Dance Tunes. All informations are same for each track exept artist, but album selection and album name is always Dance Tunes.
In ITunes it's shown as 1 album with 50 tracks, after synchronisation i have 22 Albums with 2-50 tracks (always random)with the same name: Dance Tunes.
I have this problems with more than 800 tracks in my playlist and even I delete and reimport, the get the same problems. Rename the album ends with the same 22 albums with random tracks in it.
Anyone same problem and know how to fix my 180 doubled albums on my iphone?
I have the problem with windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.
    Thx
    Dan

    The information is there...
Select all 50 tracks of your Dance Album. Use CTRL-I to Get Info. On the info tab enter *Various Artists* into the *Album Artist* field. On the Options tab set *Part of a compilation* to Yes. Sync the album to your iPhone. ALL artists will be listed in the Artist menu, but the album will be listed once in the Albums menu and once in the Cover Flow view.
For iTunes I recommend you use the options *View > Column Browser > Group Compilations > On (ticked)* and *View > Column Browser > Use Album Artists > On*.

If You Are Locked Out Or Have Forgotten Your Passcode

iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
    iOS- Understanding passcodes
A Complete Guide to Recover Your iDevice if You Forget Your Passcode
If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.
Try restoring the iOS device if backing up and erasing all content and settings doesn't resolve the issue. Using iTunes to restore iOS devices is part of standard isolation troubleshooting. Restoring your device will delete all data and content, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, and calendar information, and will restore all settings to their factory condition.
Before restoring your iOS device, Apple recommends that you either sync with iTunes to transfer any purchases you have made, or back up new data (data acquired after your last sync). If you have movie rentals on the device, see iTunes Store movie rental usage rights in the United States before restoring.
Follow these steps to restore your device:
         1. Verify that you are using the latest version of iTunes before attempting to update.
         2. Connect your device to your computer.
         3. Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes under Devices.
         4. Select the Summary tab.
         5. Select the Restore option.
         6. When prompted to back up your settings before restoring, select the Back Up
option (see in the image below). If you have just backed up the device, it is not
             necessary to create another.
         7. Select the Restore option when iTunes prompts you (as long as you've backed up,
you should not have to worry about restoring your iOS device).
         8. When the restore process has completed, the device restarts and displays the Apple
             logo while starting up:
After a restore, the iOS device displays the "Connect to iTunes" screen. For updating
to iOS 5 or later, follow the steps in the iOS Setup Assistant. For earlier versions of
iOS, keep your device connected until the "Connect to iTunes" screen goes away or
              you see "iPhone is activated."
         9. The final step is to restore your device from a previous backup.
If you can not restore your device then you will need to go to recovery mode.
Placing your device into recovery mode:
Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.
         1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the other end
of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
         2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the
red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake
and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake
              and Home buttons.
         3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device.
The device should turn on. Note: If you see the screen pictured below, let the device
charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some charge, and then
             start with step 2 again.
         4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen.
When this screen appears you can release the Home button.
         5. If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:
         6. Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
    Additional Information:
Note: When using recovery mode, you can only restore the device. All user content on the device will be erased, but if you had previously synced with iTunes on this computer, you can restore from a previous backup. See this article for more information.

I have an iphone and my daughter has an ipod.  She has all my contacts showing up on her ipod.  I deleted them and now they are gone from both.  is there any way of retreiving this deleted information.

When you share an iCloud account, any data you sync with the account is merged, and any actions you take on one device (such as deleteing contacts) is synced to all other devices sharing the account.  To avoid this, each person's device(s) should have a separate iCloud account with a separate ID.  (You can continue to share your iTunes account; it does not need to have the same ID as the one used for iCloud.)
To create separate icloud accounts, decide which iPhone will be keeping the current iCloud account.  On the one that will be changing accounts, go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  (This will only delete the account from this phone, not from iCloud.  The phone that will be keeping the account will not be effected by this.)  When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, be sure to select Keep On My iPhone.  Next, set up a new iCloud account using a different Apple ID (if you don't have one, tap Get a Free Apple ID at the bottom).  Then turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to the new account.
Finally, to un-merge the data you will then have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the data you don't want (such as deleting the other person's contacts from your account, and vice versa).
As for recovering the deleted contacts, you can try restoring her phone from her most recent backup.  This may recover the contacts, however it often doesn't.  Restoring to an iCloud backup has to be done in the initial setup process.  If she have any data on your phone now that is not in the backup that she wants to save she will need to do that first.  Then go to Settings>General>Reset and tap Erase All Content and Settings.  You will then go through the setup screens as you did when the phone was new. When given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup.  Be sure you are connected to wifi and your charger as this will take some time to finish.

  • How can I take a photo on my iPhone then save it into a second Album, not Camera Roll?

How can I take a photo on my iPhone then save it into a second Album, not Camera Roll?

All photos captured or saved with the iPhone are stored in the Camera Roll which cannot be changed.
You can create an album to place photos in that are in the Camera Roll which does not duplicate the photo. It creates a pointer to the original photo stored in the Camera Roll. If the original is deleted from the Camera Roll, it will be removed from the album as well.
Import the photos from the Camera Roll with your computer as with any other digital camera followed by deleting the photos from the Camera Roll after the import process is complete. Create an album or albums for the imported photos on your computer followed by transferring the albums from your computer via the iTunes sync process which is selected under the Photos tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.
