Iphone OS crashed after a complete battery drain.

Hi,
A few days back my iphone battery drained completely (the phone switched off) with the daily usage. Once I plugged it to the power supply, the apple logo screen appeared after an initial few mins charge but then it halted to the gray screen...and then its stuck there.
After several attempts of reset and charging... the iphone OS refuses to proceed further with the boot.
Any clues what has gone wrong?
and How to fix it?
regards,
Asim.

Define what "a while" is. How long did you leave it plugged in before your tried to start it?
Also, you can try a reset: Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Apple appears (up to 30 seconds). Once the Slide to Unlock screen redisplays you should be all set.
Cheers,
GB

Restore iPad to Factory Default; do not restore from backup. It may be the cause of the problem.

My iphone 5c crashed after updating to IOS 8.02 and now i don't have anything from the last 3 months. What do I do?

Don't worry about that. iPhone stuck in recovery mode always happens when you update the iOS on your iPhone. There are two ways to solve it.
First is is to put your iPhone in DFU mode.
    Step 1. Turn off iPhone
Step 2. Hold down the Power and Home button.
Step 3. When you see the Apple logo, release the power button but continue holding the Home button down.
Step 4. Open iTunes and wait for it to tell you that it’s in restore mode.
If DFU mode can't solve the problem, I'm afraid the only solution is to try some 3rd party software, like iPhone data recovery or something like that. You may simply try the tutorial here: How to Fix iPhone that is Stuck in Recovery Mode.

  • IPhone 4S : no reconnect after signal lost + battery drain

Maybe my title is confusing, so here the full story :
Now... I got my new 4S for two weeks now (replacing my 3GS) and I got a very bad issue with it. When I go to my mom's house located in a deep valley where there's no cell signal at all. But just a half mile away (when you leave the valley), the signal is 100% strong. So, neighter my 3GS nor my 4S get signal (voice nor data) but that's not a suprise.
The big surprise (the issue is) : when I got visiting my mom, but 4S say "Searching for network" and the battery drain quickier, but that's not the issue and I had the same issue with the 3GS. BUT, with the 4S, when I leave my mom's house and reach the area where the signal come back (to 100%), the freakin' P.O.S. don't want to re-connect to the network and continue to say "Searching for signal". I had to shutdown the 4S, then reboot, then it work fine (100% signal). The last time I visit my mom, I notice this situation quickly because I tried to use my bluetooth handfree in the car after leaving mom's home and I saw the 4S don't see the network signal.
But yesterday I leave mom's home later by the night and I don't tried to use my 4S on the way back to my home and I go to sleep quickly after that and I just drop the 4S on my night stand and go to bed. When I was to my mom's home, last time I used my 4S was on her WiFi network (to check email), my battery was like 90% charged, and this morning when I wake up... the 4S died and took like 20 minutes on the wall charger before booting at 5% battery (COMPLETELY DRAINED!).
Did some research on the internet, but is this a common issue of the 4S ???

Oh please. The iPhone 4S supports a lot more than you would expect from a 3G phone (2G technology supported).
If you've replaced your 4S due to signal issues that can't be explained by coverage or overcapacity, there's almost very clearly a network related issue, or a widespread Hardware/Software fault due to Apple (most likely).
All non-Apple 3G phones I've used re-establish 3G communication given the best outcome when weighing Advantages vs Disadvantages when switching from GPRS or EDGE.
My iPhone 4S will sometimes switch to EDGE from 3G in an area with good 3G coverage. At the same time, my Android device still indicate a good 3G signal with the H indicator as my iPhone shows an E and in rare cases an o. Rebooting, toggling Airplane on and off, or waiting some amount of time can temporarily restore the iPhone 4S's 3G reception.
I've replaced my iPhone 4S once, and I still have 3G/EDGE/GPRS switching issues that I originally had the first time around. I have yet to try getting my sim card replaced.
I believe that most signal issues come down to a few bugs.
I did a bit of research into these signal issues and I read that Apple are working on a fix to be released in the iOS 5.1 update which you can update using your iPhone in Settings > General > Software Update.
If the iOS update is not public by the 3rd, I will be testing a developer version to find any signs of a fix to these signal issues.
If you think you find a bug that Apple doesn't seem to be aware of then you can provide any information here:

  • My iphone 4S 64gb factory unlocked keep freezing when running especially the music and photo app; and it keep rebooting itself after every total battery drain; i'm on ios 5.1

i upgraded to the ios 5.1; and i realized that each time i have a comple battery drain and the phone goes off; when i connect the iphone to charge; it keeps rebooting itself. And the phone freezes when in the middle of applications; i have to stop the app and start it several times before it works; i have an iphone 4S 64gb factory unlocked

At first drain the battery till the iPhone gets off for many times isnt really a good thing read this:
    http://www.apple.com/batteries/
after that I think the only way that will help you is restore the iPhone and the bad news are that you should do it without restore a backup after cause you're problem could be saved in the backup of the phone too so you must manually reinstall apps, preferences etc etc

  • IPhone 4 Shuts Off repeatedly and battery drains after ios7 update

This morning at 5:20 am, my alarm went off on my iphone like normal, I plugged my 100% battery charged iphone out of its charger and within 30 seconds it turned off. I quickly plugged it back in the charger and it dropped to 41%. Then as I had to start my morning and get to work and take the phone again out of its charger, it died again. So I got to work, and I have put my phone to "charge" while plugged to the charger, but as time passes, instead of charging my battery it looses life, then I recieved a notification to update my phone, which I did however this did not help my phone, it still continues to turn off once I plug the phone  out of the charger.

Same here. My ipad mini used to last weeks, now I can barely get a full day out of it, after I finally updated to ios7. And yes I disabled every possible battery drainer I could find and rebooted. This is clearly to me a bug for the mini, possibly their code that drains batteries on older devices to force people to buy new hardware is running faster than it used to when it would only kill your battery twice as fast, perhaps something else I would hope, but I'm about to hack my device and return to ios 6 as this is absurd. I can put my ipad down for a few hours and pick it up with a 5% drain or overnight with a 70% drain.

  • Iphone 4 Phone App White Screen/Battery Draining Fast

I have an iPhone 4 with the most recent version of the software.  For the second time in about 5 weeks, my phone app has completely stopped working and only shows a white screen when entering.  I can still receive calls however.  The only way I could fix it before was a complete system restore, which was horrible.  My battery drains really quickly and the iphone gets really hot.  The system restore seemed to fix it for a few weeks last time.  I tried hard resets, soft resets, and everything in between. A friend of mine had the same issue with his phone.
    Any ideas?

I did some research.  I deleted my exchange account from work and it appeared to have fixed the problem.

  • IPhone 5s IOS 8.1.1 battery drain using mail

Problem: battery drain is unacceptably high with -1% per five minutes
Description: after upgrading from IOS 7 to 8 the battery drain on my iPhone 5s (32GB) has hugely increased. Several tips on the internet have been tried from turning off several services to reinstalling the IOS none with no improvement. After reinstallation the drain was acceptable only to result in again a -1% drain per five minutes after a week.
Expected: using IOS 7 I could easily use the iPhone throughout the whole day with -1% per fifteen minutes. After installing an improved IOS one would expect similar or lower battery drain
Tests: as said, severals tips found on the internet have been tested none with any improvement. Deleting all accounts under "Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars" proved to be the only solution for this problem (a non-functional solution I must add since I'm using this iPhone for communication...). Even keeping the iCloud account but disabling all iCloud services did not improve the situation, only a real account deletion worked.
Question: do you know how to get battery drain back to -1% per fifteen minutes whilst maintaining my iCloud and Exchange account using IOS 8.1.1 on an iPhone 5s (32GB)?
    Kind regards,
    Ronald

Since upgrading my iPhone 6 to iOS 8.1, my battery has not been the same. I was able to get 9-10 hours of usage before and am lucky to get 6-7 hours. AppleCare thought that was on the low side and told me to visit my local Apple Store for a thorough diagnostic testing of the battery. My appointment is tomorrow. Will report back.

  • Iphone 5S crashing after 8.3 update blue screen of death

I have an iPhone 5S which is 90 days out of warranty.  I updated to 8.3 and the first issue I noticed was my music app.  When I play music it doesn't start off from the last song I played - I have to choose my songs again and restart my shuffled playlist.  Last week out of nowhere my phone crashed but it was at 80% battery.  The screen went black, then blue, then tried to reboot.  It "reset" itself within a few hours.  Next day I accessed the App Store and it crashed again.  It has since crashed several more times using Facebook, email, turning it off...very frustrating.  I brought my phone to VZW and they said it was a software issue.  I then went to the Genius Bar and they said without restoring the phone and reinstalling ios, they have no way of knowing if it's software or hardware.  The phone crashed as the tech was looking at my phone so he excused himself, went to the back and came back with a second opinion  "it's definitely a hardware issue and since you are out of warranty, you'll have to buy a new phone for $549".  WHAT?!?  So wait, you JUST told me that you wouldn't know if it was a hardware issue until the phone was restored so how did you magically surmise this?  Then to tell me there is NOTHING that can be done and if I wanted to restore from a backup, I wouldn't be guaranteed that all of my content would be restored to my phone OR there is a possibility my phone would be wiped clean and not restorable at all.  Nice try and scare tactic.  I left Apple with a phone stuck on the blue screen of death.  I went back to VZW and they said its definitely not a hardware issue and even if it were, Apple is the company to seek, not them - they are just my carrier.  I am so fed up with Apple.  Every update and phone I've had with them has had issues.  I don't know why I continue to be their customer.  If anyone can help I'd appreciate it.

Sorry, what i wrote was wrong and i can't edit it again now
Here's what I was actually meant to say,
    Hi
You could try basic trouble shooting, that's what everyone usually suggests first but it that fails to work then it is a hardware issue.
Did it start crashing after you installed or or got rid of an app? Oh and has it happened before on any other IOS?
In my opinion you should email Apple explaining the issue and they might be able to help you or tell you it plain and simple that your phone is broken

  • Iphone 4s crashing after adding starbucks freebees

I am having a problem with my iphone 4s. After I bought it in December I added a couple of the free things from starbucks to my itunes and did a sync. After this my hone kept crashing. No aplication would work, I couldn't turn it off and most anoyingly of all my alarm didn't go off! So I took it to the apple store and they told me to do a factory reset and reload everything without doing it from a back up. This worked . However, I have just added another bunch of the starbucks things and it has hapened again. Has this happened to anyone else? Is there anyway I can add the starbucks freebees without having to reload my phone every time?

    HI all
i thought I would join apple at an entry level with the iphone 4s this was due to the amount of negative stuff I had read and heard but I liked the product happy with my I pad and tv but the phone rubbish I'm afraid crashes like anything new from shop or a possible refurb as their was another wi if code entered into the wifi settings when I was setting up I have an authorisation code to take it in to be looked at but I have been nursing this phone and have almost got it working ok very strange the battery usage and standby info confuses itself but I have caught on how to get it working when fully charged if your lucky enough to get that far the usage and Standby data has no info so I unplug the charger plug it back in and bingo you have the zeros up and the phone works all day no problem however if you left the usage and standby without its info it crashes like **** so I've basically run this phone right down in increments as when it crashed it would go from 100 percent to 88 then crash turn it back on up to 92 percent and you then grt he usage data back turn off phone plug in charger back on again and I've been doing this for a week now and slowly but surely it's stabilising itself I've removed all the apps phone is down to factory default only I've rebooted that didn't work but what I'm doing is working I'm having fun with this phone not bothered about getting it fixed I will go and get another one not sure if it's going to be apple to many problems
Sorry I wasn't able to read your run-on sentence, since you forgot to use periods.
Just base of your title.  Basic troubleshootings steps are: restart, reset, restore from backup and then as new.

  • Iphone 6, iOS 8.0.2, battery drain & overheating

So I upgraded to an iphone 6 from an iphone 5. The phone came with iOS 8.0.2. It seems that I am not the only one with this issue but my my phone gets hot after a short use and battery drains rather quickly. It seems to be a software issue since many people are exhibiting the same symptoms. My battery usage shows that the Home & Lock Screen ate up 26% of the battery and my settings ate up 22%. That seems a tad high. Battery is at 84% after 56 min usage and 4 hr 14 min at standby. Note this is on the initial charge after transferring my data from the iphone 5 to the iphone 6. Battery has not fully drained yet. What do you guys suggest? Thanks.

I have a similar problem on my 5s. Since updating it has stopped allowing me to send texts to my wive, but will accept them and allows calls.
I must add that I can text her when on wifi, and also from my mac, but when on 4g?
    Any ideas?

  • HT201210 My iphone 4 crashed after iOS 7.1.1 update

My iphone 4 (7.1) crashed after iOS 7.1.1 update. iTunes is unable to recover it. Has anyone encountered similar issues?

    Hello Rajesh,
Thank you for providing the details of the issue you are experiencing with you iPhone repeatedly becoming unresponsive.
I recommend following these steps for an issue like this (you can skip 4 because it does not relate to the issue you are experiencing):
If a single application is not responding or stops responding when it opens, you can force it to close.
If the device is unresponsive or if certain controls aren't working as expected, restart your device.
If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on),reset your device.
If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:
If you are using an iPad, ensure that it's connected to the USB Power Adapter supplied with the device.
Let charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
If there is no image on the screen, press the Sleep/Wake button to attempt to wake the device.
If the screen displays a red battery icon, continue charging the device until the battery is fully charged.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes:
Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more about restoring iOS software.
If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode, and then restore it.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, contact Apple.
You can find the full article here:
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on

If you get to step 5, I recommend backing up your iPhone before performing the restore:

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • IPhone 6 Plus & iOS 8.1 Battery Drain...

    Hey,
    i have 6plus 64gb, and installed new 8.1 ios.
i noticed clearly that the battery drains so fast. (Like %33 reduction)
After take a look at another iphone user's forums, too many people complain about the battery.
    submitted for your information.

In most cases the problems when switching to a new iOS version are (as I had with my switch from iOS6 > iOS7):
    - rogue app process (app not updated yet to iOS8/8.1) check Settings > General > Usage > Battery usage in percentage to determine which app is using much more battery although you haven't used it at all or much.
    - settings in e-mail receiving is changed
    - background app refresh (turn it off if you do not need it)
    - location services (look carefully which apps you want to use this feature)
    - notifications (look carefully which apps you want to use this feature)
    - Facebook app
