Iphone output to home stereo

I am not able to output from my iphone to my home stereo via output jack, but was able to do so with a Sony mp3 player. Does Iphone require apple products to output to, such as ipod stuff?

Hi...I am new to this whole posting thing, but have been an avid reader for awhile. I too am having difficulties with the whole iphone to stereo concept. I bought the Belkin cord from the Apple store, but still seem to be unable to get any music to come out of my stereo. So, what could I be doing wrong? I have connected cord from both the iphone and from cradle's line out jack, and then connect the other end to stereo through the headphone jack. The headphone jack is the ONLY port on the stereo that seems to fit the belkin. No input jacks to be found. Do I need to do like iTrip radio stations in the iPhone, or did I just waste money on this cord? Please help. I am so frustrated. All I want to do is enjoy my music OUT LOUD! Thanks.

  • IPhone on a Home Stereo

    Hello all!
I'm at a total loss with this one, I am trying to connect my iPhone to my home stereo via an apple dock. I placed my iPhone on an apple 30 pin dock and the mini-jack line out dock and I get no sound. I plugged in my nano and it works.
I have used a mini-jack to L/F RCA cable, and a mini-jack to video+L/R RCA cable, a 30 pin to L/R RCA cable and nothing! Whats the deal if my nano works (latest generation) my iphone must be damaged then?
Has anyone run into this problem?
    Thanks in advanced

    A few steps to try.
    1. connect your earbuds to the line out on the back of the dock to see if there is any audio coming out.
    2. If no sound from bluetooth headphone dock, try using the dock that came with the iphone.
If the earbuds play when connected to the dock, then the iphone is ok.
If no sound on either dock, try resetting the iphone and try again.
    Hope this helps.

  • Output to home stereo - no right channel

I am trying to connect the SB Audigy2 Platinum to my two channel homestereo. I connected the 1/8 digital cable via an rca adapter, going into corresponding
L+R RCA inputs on my amplifier. When trying to calibrate the speakers I hear the right channel in bothe speakers
The same effect when I listen to my stereo headphones connected to my amplifier. When my headphones are plugged directly into the external I/O module, theheadphones sound just fine. I have checked to make sure that the 1/8"" jack is plugged into output onthe soundcard, and is in all the way. I have also switched the polarity of my L+R rca audio jacks going into theinputs on my amplifier, works the same either way. I have tried all available input pairs on my amplifierI have checked the polarity of the audio cable from my speaker outputs on myamplifier to the speakers. I have turned all DSP's off on my amplifier and am bypassing surround soundand Dolby. I am stumped. Also, shouldn't I be able to use the 1/8" digital out on the back of the I/Omodule to go to my home stereo instead of the 1/8" out on the soundcarditself?Thank you,

  • Iphone and Apple Home Stereo Box

I bought the Apple home stereo unit a few years back and have always used it to play my ipod and and recharge it. I just bought the iphone and when I put it in the slot the phone said that this device does not support charging the phone. Why would this be. IT works with my wife's Touch. Why would it not charge the phone, it's an Apple device after all

Apple has been gradually removing firewire support for iPods over the last few years.
Initially, all iPods charged and synced via firewire. Apple switched from syncing via firewire to USB with all iPods and continued to support charging via firewire.
The first generation iPhone supports syncing via USB and charging via firewire - many car kits and your Apple home stereo support charging via firewire.
Apple removed support for charging via firewire with the iPhone 3G and will follow suit with future iPod models. The firewire pins were removed from the dock connector with the iPhone 3G. The next generation iPod Touch will not support charging via firewire either.

  • Wireless music playback from iPhone via home-stereo

I want to listen to my music, playing on my iPhone, using my home-stereo as speakers.
I'm looking so to speak for a wireless iPhone-Dock, or a wlan/bluetooth-receiver with audio out (and matching app), or a airport-extreme that syncs with my iPhone.
Is there a device that can do this?

I just bought Belkin's Bluetooth Music Receiver (F8Z492) and it works just fine when I want to listen to music using iPod or Spotify on my iPhone. I can change tracks but my problem is I can't figure out how to adjust the volume. It seems like using bluetooth is the same as using the iPHone connector in the bottom of the phone - it only send the sound without the volume info and you need to adjust the volume on your stereo. Anyone have input if that is the case or not?

  • Is there a connection device to hook up to a denon recever to plug in Ipad2 or iphone 4 to place music thru home stereo

I would like to hook up my IPAD 2 or IPHONE 4 to my denon AVR3806 recevor to play music thru home stereo.  Does anyone know how to do this?
    Thank you

A crude but effective way would ,assuming the Sony has an AUX in ,
    is a stereo bluetooth receiver
plugs into aux and recives music over B/T from
the iPhone etc ,as used by many in vehicle
    For instance as an example

  • Listen to music through home stereo on iPad?

How do you stream your music to your home stereo thru your iPad similar to iTunes on your Mac desktop? They allude to this being possible at the very end of the guided tour to iPod on the iPad

I am trying to do the very same thing, glad to hear others are struggling!
I stream Pandora through my home AV system through my PS3 browser. The problem is, to change the station, I need to turn on the TV, boot up a controller, etc. Instead, I want to connect via iPad Bluetooth to my home AV system and change tunes at will.
I was able to pair the iPad to PS3 as shown on numerous YouTube videos to pair iPhone to PS3. The problem is that the audio doesn't pass through, even though it is linked. On the iPad Bluetooth settings, it shows paired, but the Device part shows the searching wagon wheel......... and doesn't allow me to pick headphones versus keyboard.
So, how do I force the iPad to output to the Bluetooth connection? I update PS3 software with no success... Help Techies!
An alternative would be to purchase a Bluetooth receiver / transceiver and try again, but since it didn't work with PS3, would their be any hope in it working on a dedicated receiver?

  • 20G iPOD freezes when connecting to home stereo and other components

When i connect my iPOD to my home stereo through a docking station the iPOD buttons become disfunctional. it only plays one song and then it "shuts down". Not really shuts down because the iPOD is still on and as soon as i remove it from the docking station, it works fine again. Any ideas?

"However, most of the cables I find use the headphone output. "
Yep, thats fine, just get one of those!

  • I am trying to play my digital music off a hard drive onto my home stereo.  I would like to know if the mac mini can just hook to my processor and play music through the processor(preamp) on my home stereo speakers?

I currently have a nice home stereo component system.  I also have a 500 GB external hard drive loaded with music.  I am looking for a way to play the music off this Hard Drive onto my home stereo system.  I currently have a WD home entertainment box that I can play movies that I download off the Internet on my TV, of course piped through my home stereo for the sound.  I would like to know if the mac-mini could be used in this form also.  Just have the HD hooked to it, the TV would become my monitor and the mac mini would play the music ... RANDOMLY ... with the use of iTunes.  This of course would be hooked up to the home system with an hdmi cable and the HD hooked up through a USB connection.
Just would like to know if this could work?

    Yes. Is the short answer.
You can directly connect the speaker out port of the Mac mini to an input on the AV Receiver which then feeds your speakers. This would be an audio only solution. If you use a TOS-Link connection this will be a pure digital connection ensuring the best quality (important for audiophiles).
You can if you wish connect the video from the Mac mini to the AV Receiver, and if you have a Mac mini with HDMI or a Mini Displayport you can run the audio and video via a single cable. (Older models would use two cables, the aforementioned TOS-Link pus a DVI to HDMI cable.)
If you do connect the video output from the Mac to the AV Receiver you can then display this on your TV, and have as one possibility iTunes displayed with perhaps one of the iTunes visualisers playing along with the music. Another possibility would be to use FrontRow on the Mac.
A different approach would be to have the Mac mini stream over a network to a device e.g. the Sonos Zoneplayer which is then connected to the AV Receiver. An AirPort Express is also able to do this.

  • How can I play my ipod classic 30G thru my older home stereo? Radio Shack guy sold me a head phone adapter to use in the head phone socket on the stereo with the other end attaching to the ipod. It doesn't do anything. Are there settings I need to make on

How can I play my ipod classic 30 G thru my home stereo system? The guy at Radio Shack sold me an adapter for the older, larger headphone adapter on my stereo receiver with an ipod attachment on the other end. It doesn't work. Do I need to make special settings on the ipod? Should it work? I read elsewhere that I need a Y connector.  Thanks for any help.

The headphone jak on your stereo is an output, not an input.  You cannot route music into your stereo throughthe headphone jack.
You can get a cable that connect from the headphone output of the ipod to the stereo inputs on your stereo:

  • Trouble connecting Ipod touch to home stereo.

Hello, I have an Ipod Touch 3rd gen.  I currently use it mostly in my car and I use a simple aux 3.5 mm jack from the itouch to my aux input on my car stereo to listen to music.  Works great.  Now, I have been trying to get my ipod to connect to either of my home stereo receivers without any luck.  I have a 3.5mm jack from the itouch going to 2 rca inputs on the back of the stereo.  When I try to get it to play, it sometimes will play but it is not loud at all and sounds very distorted.  I can sort of hear the music but the vocals are very quiet.   This happens on both of my home stereos.  I was thinking of getting another cable that goes from the 30 pin connector on the bottom to the 2 rca inputs.  Do you think this would be better?  Or do I not have something configured right with the itouch?  Its just weird that it works fine in my car but not with the home stereo.  Thanks for the input.

This may work since it includesd an audio out\http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC748ZM/A/apple-composite-av-cable?fnode=72
This may also work since it included :

  • Why lower audo levels when connecting to home stereo system

I have connected an audio cable to the earphone output on the Nano. This cable has two RCA connectors that connect to the line-in of my home stereo system. It works fine except for one thing. The volume is lower than other sources that feed into a "line-in" input. To make things even across the system, is there some type of devise that will increase the output level of the headphone jack on the Nano? Or does using an Apple cable make any difference. I would think this little problem is just a case of the headphone output being of a lower output level than a "line-out" output.
    Thanks for suggestions.

"I would think this little problem is just a case of the headphone output being of a lower output level than a "line-out" output."
It is, which is why many people who want to do this use the iPod dock, which has a proper 'line out' socket.

  • Using iMac as Home Stereo

Is there a way to use my iMac Intel as my home stereo? I have an old receiver that isn't working anymore. I just had my kitchen redone, and my brother-in-law (the electrician) put in speaker wires to my deck and in my kitchen/new bar area. All of my music is on my computer. Is there a way I can connect all of my house speakers to my computer?
I am not the most educated when it comes to speakers and amps and what needs to be hooked to what without blowing something out.
If it is not possible to directly hook these up, what is the best way to go about it? My buddy has an iPod with that device that tunes into an FM station and broadcasts through his speakers that way. I don't have an iPod yet and would prefer to go through my computer instead.
    Thanks!

Here are the Spec's for a late Intel iMac.
    http://support.apple.com/specs/imac/iMacLate2006.html
    Audio
    Built-in stereo speakers
    17-inch and 20-inch models
    Internal 12-watt digital amplifier
    24-inch model
    Internal 24-watt digital amplifier
    Headphone/optical digital audio output (minijack)
Audio line in/optical digital audio input (minijack)
    Built-in microphone
As you can see 12 watts for 17 & 20" models and 24 watts for 24" is realy not enough power for a large set of stereo speakers.

  • Adaptor To Connect Intel Imac To Home Stereo?

It's been about five months that I've had my Intel Core Duo iMac sitting proudly on my desk. Question: Has anyone found a way to connect the audio outs to a standard home stereo? (No, I don't want 5.1, just good old 2 point stereo)...
    Thanks,
    Stu

My friend we have all tried to tell you that you are mistaken with your ideas about the audio output jack of the Intel iMacs, but you don't want to believe us. The output port is both digital and analog. A regular mini plug cable activates the analog output. A mini plug on a Toslink cable activates the digital output. Yes there is a 1 to 2 mm gap that is always there. No neither Apple nor anyone else makes anything special because what they expect you to use is the regular old standard mini plugs.

  • Can the Mac Mini G4 be connected to a home stereo?

    Hi,
I've been trying for days to find the right cable which will allow me to connect my G4 Mac Mini's headphone out port to either an optical or digital coax input on my home stereo.
If anyone has had any success with this, please let us know!

Doug, the G4 mini does not have optical/digital output capabilities. You can get a mini-plug to toslink adapter, as I have on my intel mini going to my stereo's optical input, but I do not believe it will work since the output port is not digital/optical.
As you saw in the other thread on PPC mini and audio output
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=935713&tstart=30
Your options are limited when going from analog output to digital/optical input.
If you do not have any composite/RCA type inputs available (red and white cable) perhaps a switchbox would suffice. There are many on the market, some with a remote if you do not wish to get up and change the input source to the box.
Perhaps going to a site like http://macaudiopro.digitalmedianet.com/ can give you some ideas/solutions to your dilemma.
As for cables, while Amazon is always a source with a number of options available, cablesforless.com, cables4sure.com cablestogo.com etc. are all online wholesalers/retailers of audio and video cables. If you are looking for quality vs. price you will need to shop around a bit, as the different options/style cables can get confusing. Especially for someone like me who just wants to plug the **** thing in!
