IPhone outside the States

I bought an iPhone in Hong Kong and before to buy it i've tried inserting my Italian Simcard and making a call to Italy. The iPhone call was good and now i'm using the iPhone in Italy but putting my iPhone on the desk connected with iTunes i'v received an advise to update my iPhone all in italian language afetr that update my iPhone it doen't work anymore....
Calling the Apple support in Ireland they tell me that i can't use that iPhone in Italy with a different sim card not AT&T... but the question is that i've used my iPhone before the update with my Italian simcard....
how can i resolve my problem ?

The magic word is "GOOGLE"
You have a hacked phone thats why it worked before with an italian Sim card, you should have not updated, you will not get much help here with a hacked phone so follow the magic word and do a search.

  • Billing Password - outside the States

I am trying to unlock my iPhone 4s so I can use it outside the States with another sim card - to do that, however, I need my billing password. I don't remember ever setting up a billing password, and I feel like it was set up by the Verizon worker who sold me my phone. I tried calling customer service and they asked me for my SSN - I don't have a SSN, what with not being a citizen of the States (I am a student on a visa.) I am also not in the States right now - which is why I need to unlock my iPhone in the first place, so I can't go to a Verizon store so they can retrieve my password.
Is there really no other way to work around this issue, such as to ask me different security questions, so I can find out my billing password?

So you are not a Verizon Customer? You will not get any unlock code from Verizon to use oversees unless you are a verified present customer. I see you claim you set up a Verizon account, yet did not give a social security number?
You had to give them some sort of identity verification. Sorry I have no idea what that would have been.
    Sorry I could not assist.
    Good Luck

  • I would like to buy the iPhone from the States but...

I would like to buy the iPhone from the States but I am from Canada. Is it possible for me to buy a no-contract iPhone 4 from Apple in USA, and bring it back to Canada to use it? Does it come with the micro-sim? I believe it is locked to AT&T but is it possible to unlock the iPhone at all?
Also, pre-ordering. Does Apple ship to a US P.O Box? And if so, would it arrive around June 24th as well? When pre-ordering, would it be mandatory for me to sign up for an AT&T plan as well (even if it's not a data plan)?
    Thanks in advance!

Also, pre-ordering. Does Apple ship to a US P.O Box?
No. Someone must accept and sign for the delivery.
Wait until the iPhone 4 is available in Canada, or will it be available in Canada at the same time?
Regardless and as already provided, the iPhone is sold in the U.S. as carrier locked with AT&T only and AT&T does not unlock an iPhone for any reason under any circumstances.

  • How do you use an iPhone outside the United States?

I'm going on vacation with my family and I was wondering how can your iPhone 4S with Verizon Wireless to take pictures and listen to music without being charged for roaming if you'll be traveling outside the United States? I have heard that you can your iPhone if you turn on Airplane mode but I am not sure if this is true or do you have to turn off a certain thing on the iPhone?

Airplane mode turns off all radios.
The iPhone includes the ability to enable wi-fi and Bluetooth access with Airplane mode enabled so you can access the internet with your iPhone via an available wi-fi network and/or access a Bluetooth device such as speakers or a headset. Being able to place or receive and calls and the same for SMS/MMS and cellular data access is prevented with Airplane mode enabled.

  • Please can someone help,i bought an iphone from the states,i put a sim in ,i could make phone call, but i couldnt surf ,it seems that something is wrong and when i click on wireless nozhing happen,

please someone help i bought an iphone4 from the states, i put the sim card in, icould make a phone call, thats ok but i couldnt open the opera, and when i click on wireless on buttom nothings happen.

Are you talking about an unlocked version?  If an iPhone is locked to AT&T in the U.S., anyting is fair game outside of AT&T's network. (You can always use WiFi, though.)

  • Purchasing an iPhone in the States for use in Foriegn country

Am moving to Israel and looking to by an iphone before I leave the States.  Will I be able to use the iphone in Israel?

This question comes up all the time, and the answer is yes if you purchase an officially unlocked iPhone, directly from Apple. There is no where else, in the US, to purchase officially unlocked iPhones.
You need to be aware of one big downside to doing this: You will have absolutely NO warranty & support for a US iPhone in Israel...NONE. If you have any issues, you will have to physically return the phone to the US for all warranty & support issues...you can't mail it back.

  • Why no Apple Protection Plan for iPhone outside the US??

The Apple Care Protection Plan for iPhone has been available for a while in the U.S, but it's still unavailable in other countries where the iPhone is sold.
Even if in countries where the iPhone V1 has been available since November 2007, like UK, France, Germany.
Will the APP for iPhone be available outside of the U.S anytime soon???

Since AppleCare is an extended warranty, Apple needs to write it in such a way that foreign governments will accept it. Even here in the US, it was not valid in Florida until fairly recently.

  • Does it cost extra to use wifi outside the states?

I am in germany and I'm using my families wlan to connect to the internet with my cell phone (send emails, check facebook etc). Now i was wondering if that is going to cost me any extra. My Plan is NATIONWIDE TALK & TEXT FS 700
Since it's wifi I figured I would not be charged for it.
Thanks in advance for any answeres.

If you are using your family's WLAN, then you will not be charged for it. Just make sure that it is the WLAN and not wireless cellular data that you are using.

  • Hey Guys I Travel to the States and I am from Germany. I want to buy an iPhone 4S 8GB white Version unlocked GSM. Can I use the iPhone in Germany with every SIM Card?

Hey Guys I Travel to the States and I am from Germany. I want to buy an iPhone 4S 8GB white Version unlocked GSM. Can I use the iPhone in Germany with every SIM Card?

As long as you buy from an Apple retail Store (Apple owned ) an unlocked iPhone 4S it will work on GSM services worldwide
    from Apple.com
If you buy a SIM-free iPhone, you will need to purchase a GSM-compatible micro-SIM separately. When you travel internationally, you can use a micro-SIM card for iPhone 4s from a local GSM carrier.
The unlocked iPhone will not work with CDMA carriers such as Verizon Wireless or Sprint.
However the warranty will NOT be valid outside the US .If you need warranty or post warranty service you will have to return the iPhone to the US in person ( cannot mail in to US )

  • Can IPhone be activated and used outside the US on other networks?

    Dear all,
I was wondering if the iPhone can be launched and activated to operate outside the United States, any other country using their networks or its just exclusively by AT&T..?

You have to activate the iPhone on the AT&T network. However, you can ask AT&T to enable international roaming and use it in other countries. If you do not have international roaming enabled, you can still do email and internet browsing when you are connected to wifi in other countries, but no phone service or sms.
Other users report spotty international roaming performance for phone calls and sms. Also, international roaming for phone and data (other than on wifi) is extremely expensive.

  • I have two questions. Are unlocked iPhone 5 available in apple stores in US? Can i use a factory unlocked iPhone 5 (GSM) anywhere outside united states?

I have two questions. Are unlocked iphone 5 now available in Appple Stores in US? Can i use a factory unlocked iphone 5 (GSM) anywhere outside the United States?

The Apple (Republic of Ireland) online store has the unlocked Iphones 4, 4S and 5 for sale. They are dear but worth it. I ordered the unlocked I phone 5 last week. That said, retail Apple Stores do and will not carry the Iphone line instore. They do however sell some accessories for all Iphones but thats as far as the Irish retail stores go.
Its obvious to me that the Apple sales strategy for the US is different to the Irish one, so your retail stores may carry the unlocked versions at some point in the future.
Sorry I could not be of more help..

  • HELP! I want to know whether my hand-me-down iPhone 4 is SIM/carrier-locked or not. I was given an iPhone 4 which I think was purchased outside the Philippines.

I was given an iPhone 4 which I believed was purchased outside the Philippines. The previous owner had it jailbroken but something went wrong so it was stuck on DFU mode. So when it was given to me, I had it restored and updated via iTunes to iOS 5.1. I bought a micro-sim and inserted it on the sim tray. iTunes was able to detect the SIM card number and there was NO MESSAGE like the sim card is not supported whatsoever which can be usually seen in unsupported simcard. I thought everything went smoothly. But when I tried to set-up the phone, the SLIDE TO UNLOCK button is unresponsive. It doesn't work so I was stuck there and my iPhone cannot be accessed because of that. What shall I do? I have tried doing the hard reset several times, it still didn't work. I have tried restoring my iPhone three times but the slide to unlock is still unresponsive. I think the iPhone was able to detect my carrier simcard since it shows on the top corner the name of my carrier, mobile signal and 3g network. Now I am wondering as to why the slide to unlock button is unresponsive? Was it because of my iPhone LCD or was it because the iPhone is locked? Please help.

according to some blogs, if the sim card you are using is unsupported, iTunes will show you a message that the sim card you are using is unsupported. But when i opened itunes, I didn't see that message. Instead, it was able to detect my sim card number. So I guess, the simcard is supported. It isn't the original sim, though. Then the phone was able to detect the mobile carrier, mobile and 3g signals. So iam wondering whether my phone is locked or was it a hardware problem?

You need iTunes on the computer. There is no iTunes for your phone. See:

  • I live outside the US and am confused if i should get a locked or unlocked Iphone 4s?

I live outside the US and probably will not move their either. I am confused if i should purchase a locked or unlocked IPhone 4S. I travel frequently but buy a sim card for each country i travel so i want a phone that i can insert any sim card into. At the same time i also want it so that if i move to the US it will work their too. PLZ HELP FAST!!

Did you read the specs I linked to? All iPads have a sim card slot for local sim cards regardless of where worldwide. Again, a local carrier must offer local iPad data plans and a local sim card.
The Verizon, etc. carrier designations only have significance in the USofA where two networks are avaialable, GSM and CDMA. In the USofA if you subscribe to a USofA carrier using CDMA then you must purchase the iPad designed to use CDMA. But again and per the specifications,  any post iPad2 iPad, GSM or CDMA will work worldwide on GSM networks.
