The only pics that you can take off of the iphone are the ones taken with the iphone.
Since the iphone is not designed as storage for photos ( just a mirror of the selected albums on your computer), you cannot take other pictures off of the iphone.
There may be 3rd party software that may allow this. However, since the iphone optimizes resolution/file size for iphone viewing, the pictures would be in lower resolution than the original.

  • IPhoto won't import my iPhone photo library.  Help!

I just bought a new Macbook Pro, and am having difficulty importing photos from my iphone4.  When I open iPhoto, it allows me to import photos from my camera roll, but it will not allow me to import photos from my iphone albums or iphone photo library.  It doesn't even acknowledge that my iphone has any photos on it other than those in my camera roll.  Is there any way to import those?

@sig Your reply misunderstands the issue. While it is straightforward to sync photo albums FROM iPhoto to the iPhone, there is no apparent way to import photo ALBUMS CREATED on the iPhone into iPhoto. I'm having the same issue and seeking an answer, which I'll republish here when I find it.

  • Transfer iphone photo library folders to computer

Instead of syncing all of my photos on my iPhone at once over to my Macbook Pro in order to transfer my photos over to iPhoto, I would like some sort of semblance in doing so. I have all my photos on my iPhone organized in different folders in my iPhone photo library. How do I transfer my folders (pictures in them) over to my computer so that I don't have to reorganize each and every photo once they've been synced to my computer?

    1. The photo library on your phone is not the same as your iPhoto Library. For a start, thoe images have been compressed to a very small size to save space on the device and you're missing versions, metadata and so on.
    2. You would be better restoring from a back up.
    3. You can get these versions off your phone with an app like http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/36028/iphone-photo-transfer . There are others. Search on MacUpdate
    4. Once you've recovered them to the computer you'll need to create a new Library to import them.

Replying to my own post - heh. I downloaded iExplorer (http://www.macroplant.com/iexplorer/) which allowed me access to the files on the phone and there was the phantom movie in the DCIM folder. Deleted it, and all is well - although I still have 0.65gb of Other in iTunes.....

  • Photo on my iPhone Photo Library that I want to delete.

It's not in iPhoto on my Mac, yet shows up in the iPhone, Photo Library and it will not delete. How can I delete it? This is one of the reasons I dislike iPhoto.
iOS 5 and OS X Lion (latest iOS's)

    Thanks for responding Rysz.
When I say Photo Library, I'm referring to the file hierachy inside the default 'Photos' app that ships with iPhone.
Once opened you are presented with the following list of Albums.
    Camera Roll
    Photo Library
    Last Import
    Last 12 Months
Inside the Photo Library, if I select the photo I want to delete, my action options are: Share, Copy, Add To. Not delete. There is no way to delete a photo from iPhone once it is inside the Photo Library.
If I tap to open the photo my only other options are in a UIActionSheet:
    Email Photo
    Message
    Assign to Contact
    Use as Wallpaper
    Tweet
    Print
    Cancel
I'm pretty familiar with Apple devices and user experience, but this seems a major bug.
If anyone has an idea, that would be great.

  • How to access iPhone "Photo Library" to get image file properties?

I want to access iPhone "Photo Library" to get image file properties(name, list etc..) without dialog.
Is there any suitable method/class to this?

    Allan,
    Thank you for your reply!
My purpose is access to "Photo Library" by iPhone API.
Because, I know several iPhone application which has own image list and the list is synced to "Photo Library".
If I take photo by iPhone native camera, the taken photo is listed up on the image list so I guess those applications can access to "Photo Library" directly.
    Or.. any other solution..?

  • How do I transfer photos from iPhone photo library?

How do I transfer photos from iPhone photo library?
I had my iPhoto library and Time Machine Backup on an external drive on my Mac Mini - not a clever strategy I know! I recently synced my photo library successfully with my iPhone 5 but now the external drive has died and my most recent backup (on another external drive) is 5 months old. Can anyone advise what is the simplest/quickest method of transferring these photos back from my iPhone photo library whilst ideally maintaining the 'events' folder type structure? Preview doesn't do it as this only allows me to copy photos taken with the iPHone, not the ones in the library.

Do you have iPhoto on your iPhone?
Then this should work - use iTunes to sync your iPhoto Library back:
    Save photos to your computer

  • Get the Pictures off my iPhone Photo Library

I got a new Macbook from insurance after a break in, My backup was stolen as well. I've got all my pictures in my camera roll Photo Library, the only problem is how to I get them off and back into iphoto on the new mac, i've tried with the jailbreak app iFile and count's get them. There are a few paid programs that say they can do it but surly i don't have to go and pay over $40 just to do this.
Please note the pictures were synced into events and what not. this isn't the camera roll stuff.
    Any help
    Thanks
    Not_Sean

Photos transferred from your computer via the iTunes sync process is a one way transfer process only. Photos transferred from your computer are optimized for viewing on the iPhone as part of the process - the original resolution of these photos is reduced on the iPhone, which is why transferring these photos in the opposite direction is not supported.
I'm not aware of any 3rd party apps or utiltities that are free which provide for transferring this data in the opposite direction, and the original resolution of these photos will be lost in the process.

  • How do you delete iphone photo library?

I'm looking to free up some space on my iPhone4, and would like to know how to go back and delete ALL the photos under PHOTO LIBRARY, as they are all now uploaded into my MacBook.
To that end, I would also like to know how to go back and delete all the photos under CAMERA ROLL...
... what I'm looking at is to simply keep a few ALBUMS that I have synced back onto the iPhone from iPhoto.
    thanks in advance

You delete photo library pics the same way you put them there.  The sync process.  Deselect them in itunes and sync.
Camera roll photos can be deleted one at a time from the iphone or all at once when you import them.

  • IPhone Photo Library and Album photos to iPhoto

    Hello:
I am trying to import the photos on my iPhone to iPhoto. The photos from my Camera Roll will import, but the 2,000 or so photos I have in Photo Library and in my other Albums will not import. How can I transport my Photo Library and other albums on my iPhone to my Camera Roll? Or, how can I get all of them to upload to iPhoto? My end goal is to get them into iPhoto, but if I can get them in the Camera Roll, then that will work.

however, it happened to be the only source left after a freak loss of data from my harddrive
At least you have that, although as Allan stated, you can never recover the original full-resolution pics from the iPhone (they were optimized to ~0.6 megapixel images, although that may be higher now with iPhone 4's higher-res display).
Still, an external HDD is what you need. Personally, I have two of them, backed up to each at least weekly, and the two drives are stored in different locations (home and offsite). Every 2 months, I also backup pictures and movies to DVD -DL media and store that in a safe deposit box. Even then, a natural disaster affecting my whole area could theoretically wipe destroy it all - so, likely I'll add Mozy soon...
Overkill? Maybe. But my daughter is only going to grow up once, so I'm not going to risk losing the digital memories of these times...

  • IPhone photo library shows black, but it shows the number of pics in it

    Hello,
I have a problem with Photo Library on my iphone4.
It shows the number of photos contained in the Library, but when I choose the folder, it shows black.
This happened after iTunes automatically synced with my iPhone without my wish or knowledge.  During the sync, I saw it started deleting images, so I immediately stopped it. But maybe it was too late???
The reason I have my pics in the library was that I had to empty my pictures folder on my PC, so I moved my pics to my iPhone. I guess that was a mistake...
Does anyone know if there is any way for me to be able to see my photos again?
    Thanks for your attention!

They could be gone unfortunately. You might try quitting the photos app then starting it again.
Go to the Home screen and double click the Home button. That will reveal the row of recently used apps at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold on the app in question until it wiggles and displays a minus sign. Tap the minus sign to actually quit the app. Then tap anywhere on the screen above that bottom row to return the screen to normal. Then restart the app and see if it works normally.
If that doesn't work try quitting it again but reset your iPad before restarting the Photos app.
Quit your Photos app like I describe above but do not restart it. Then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.
