Trouble Shooting, When I connect my iPhone to my PC about 50% of the time I can view and copy photos using My Computer, 50% of the time no photos show up and it says no photos found.

The iPhone will only show up as a camera device if there are photos in the Camera Roll. Occasionnally there may be corrupt image files in the camera roll; usually from a web page, MMS or email. A corrupt photo can prevent the Camera Roll from being visible in the computer also.

Transfering/storing iPhone photos to your computer

Anyone know to do this? I know that the iPhone syncs and backs up all files when you plug it to your computer. I see the iTunes folder in my hard drive but I don't see these backed up files, esp my photos. My iPhone has maxed on storage of photos and all I want to do is find where they're stored on my computer. Any other tips/info much appreciated!

Photos stored in your camera roll are imported to your computer, just like photos would be from any digital camera. They are not synced(although they are included in the iPhone backup). Your profile does not saw what OS you are using, if Windows I believe you have the Scanner/Camera Wizard, if OS X, iPhoto.

Go into iPhoto. You'll see the iPhone in the left column. Click on it. Follow the directions in the main window. Move the photos to your mac, plus have the option to delete the photos off of your iphone, so read carefully.

For photos captured by your iPhone which are stored in your iPhone's camera roll, importing photos from your iPhone's camera roll is not handled by iTunes. When there are photos in your iPhone's camera roll, your iPhone is also detected as a digital camera when connected to your computer, and you import these photos as is done with any other digital camera.
Since you have a Mac, you can use iPhoto for the import if you use iPhoto for importing photos from another digital camera and for photo storage on your Mac. If not, you can use the Image Capture application located in your Applications folder.

How to enable permission to delete iPhone photos from my computer

I have an iPhone 6 running iOS 8.3. I use a PC. I like to pull pictures of my kids off of my phone and save them on my computer in different files. I plug my phone in via USB, open the folder with the pictures and transfer photo files where I want them to be. Once I've moved it, I right click to delete the original photo in my iPhone folder to remove it from my phone. This is how I've done it for years. Since I've upgraded to the new iOS 8.3, my computer tells me I don't have permission to delete these files out of my iPhone folder. I'm very frustrated and can't find any solutions, and I can't figure out if this is a phone setting or computer setting. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Yes, that is always an option, but not what my issue is. For speed and efficiency of what I'm doing on my computer, I want to be able to delete them as I always have been able to do before iOS 8.3. I'm sure there's a setting somewhere, I just can't find it.
Your issue is, that you updated to iOS 8.3, and that does not allow deleting photos from the iPhone like before.
Even a Mac can no longer delete the photos from the iPhone after the iOS 8.3 update, if iCloud Photo Library has been enabled on the iPhone in the Settings > Photo & Camera. Then you have to delete the Photos in the Photos application to delete them from iCloud.

I upgraded to 8.1 and now my iphone doesn't appear anymore in the itunes screen. I can see the iphone photos on my computer screen but there is nothing where the device used to show up. I can't back up and I can't see how much storage space is occupied.

Does anybody know how I can restore my itunes to recognize my iphone? I updated to Windows 8.1 and now there is no recognition of my iphone as a device in the itines window.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you updated your Apple Id and password but now you are being prompted for the old information in iCloud. You are on the right track by changing the Apple ID back to the previous email address temporarily so that you can sign out. You should not need to verify the email address. After you edit the Apple ID back to the old email address and then sign out of iCloud on your iPhone, edit the Apple ID back to the address you would currently like to use. There is no need to change the password again, only the email address, unless you prefer to update the password again.

Change your Apple ID temporarily
If signing out and back in to iMessage or FaceTime didn't help, try these steps:
Change your Apple ID to the Apple ID you used previously. You shouldn't need to verify the email address.
Tap Settings > iCloud. Complete these steps only if the Find My [Device] setting is turned on:
Scroll down and tap Sign Out, then tap Sign Out to confirm. If you're using iOS 7 or earlier, tap Delete Account, then tap Delete to confirm.
Tap Keep on My [Device] or Delete from My [Device]. In either case, your data remains in iCloud and will be updated on your device when you sign in to iCloud again.
Enter the password for your previous Apple ID.
Change your Apple ID to the new email address that you want to use. You'll need to verify the email address.
Return to Settings > iCloud and sign in with your new Apple ID.

My iPhones gives me a message that I don't have enough storage to backup. When I attempt to manage my storage it shows 1 backup for the phone I use and it's 5GB. I have transferred all my photos to my computer hoping it would create storage but no good.

My iPHone tells me I don't have enough iCLoud storage. When I manage my storage from Settings it shows 1 backup for my primary phone and it's 5GB. I understand that is what Apple provides for free and I could upgrade but I don't want to upgrade. I have transferred most all my photos to the computer and I have no music on my device. And this was several weeks ago and I have attempted to backup since hoping it would create a new backup but no good.
I have even went in the backup and turned off Camera Roll since it's the largest but still no good.
If you have any suggestions other than upgrade your storage plan please help.

Try deleting the old backup.
Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage, tap the device name and on the resulting screen, scroll down and tap on Delete Backup.

You cannot drag pics from computer to iphone. This has never been a feature of iphone.
You sync them as you would anything esle.
You select photos from the photos tab. Whatever is selected will be on your iphone. Anything not selected will not be. Make sure that everything you want on your iphone is selected, then sync.

I am unable to import photos to my computer from my iphone. I need help!

Everytime i try and import photos to my computer I get an error message on every single photo. It says "The following error occured while importing 'photoxyz.jpg': The exact error is unknown. Make a note of this error code, which might be useful if you seek additional help to resolve this problem: 80210005." I can then try again (which never works), or skip the file. Essentially I am unable to import any photos from my phone. With the iphone 4 i did this all of the time with no problem but now that I have the iphone 5 this is all that happens. Having troubles transferring photos from my Iphone 4s to my computer

I can't transfer photos/videos from my iphone 4s to my computer since the computer won't recognize the phone as I plug it in. I tried to install new drivers but only tells me that all my drivers are up to date. I cant recall having this problem until I switched to Windows 7. I also tried reading these forums and others for a solution but I have this far been unable to find one. Is there anyone else out there having this problem?
I also seem to have exactly the same problem with transferring photos from my digital camera.

Thanks for replying to my question! You mentioned that it might be a problem with my computer, what do you mean by that? Is it the hardware, i.e loose cables and such or is it the software that you refering to?
Great suggestion that I should use Dropbox to transfer my pictures. I already have Dropbox and I have used it to make copies. The problem is that I find the app troublesome to use and I much rather prefer that I can acess the photos as I did before.
I will continue to try to find an solution to my connectivity problems but I appreaciate your advice!

Be careful, when you connect the iPhone to your mac, unless you have saved the photos. Synced photos may easily be accidentally deleted by syncing again. And do not enable iCloud Photo Library (Beta), that will erase synced photos as well. Synced Photos are not included in the device backups.
Set your iTunes Preferences to "Devices > Prevent iPos, iPhones, iPads from syncing automatically". Otherwise iTunes may launch and sync your iPhone with an empty iPhoto library the moment you connect it.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to sync the synced photos back. Apple recommends to mail them back, but that would be a lot of clicking (iTunes: Syncing photos - Apple Support). You could also share them to a Shared Album, but a third party app like TD recommended, will be better.

Sounds like you synced the photos instead of importing the photos.
In iTunes with your device plugged in, go to the photos tab and uncheck the photos that were synced over, then sync again. This should take the photos from your coputer off the devices leaving just the camera roll.
If you have a Windows computer, go to mycomputer and right click on your device and select import pictures and video. If its a Mac computer, plug in your device and go to iphoto and select import all.
