IPhone prompting me to sign into a different apple id than my own

Hi,
I am trying to help my Dad with a wierd issue he is having with his iPhone 5. He is running iOS 7.1.2 (does not want to update to iOS8 yet with all of its bugs). Does not use iCloud, it is switched off. Does not use FaceTime, that too is switched off. On the phone, he is logged into iTunes & App Store with his own apple ID. He is also logged into iTunes on his mac with his same apple ID. The last few days, each time he tries to update his phone apps it prompts him to type in the password for my Mum's apple id! Her id isn't logged into his phone anywhere, or on the computer. I tried to type in her password to get passed the message but it says its incorrect. Dad's own password doesn't work either. I have tried resetting the phone and also tried restoring it and still I can't get any further to update the apps, it continues to ask for my Mum's password. Any ideas how I can fix this, it's driving me round the bend.

Is it possible that the person who sent the message to your phone sent it to your phone # instead? Try sending a message to your phone via the email address and see if it shows up on the iPad.

That's a problem that all users of a second-hand Mac released after the OS X Lion launch have. OS X, iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand are registered to the Apple ID the first owner used to register the computer, so you can't use them legally without repurchasing them. Furthermore, there's a bigger problem: you have to get iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand on a DVD, because the App Store makes impossible to purchase these applications on a second-hand Mac.
Nothing will happen if they are already installed, but you won't be able to reinstall and update them, so I recommend you to delete them and buy iLife '11 on a DVD to install the applications from there. Also, take note that you can't also reinstall OS X, so if OS X gets damaged, you will have to take your computer to an Apple Store.
Open  > About this Mac, and tell us the OS X version you have. If you are using OS X Lion, you can upgrade to Mountain Lion with your Apple ID, so then you will be able to reinstall OS X

You should be able to find that lost iPhone with the Find My iPhone. It will let you locate the iPhone on a map or play a tone in case it’s under a couch cushion.

Check in settings-itunes and app stores, to see what it is showing as far as apple id. If its not yours, log in as yourself. Also check settings-icloud and sign in

On the phone, go to Settings, and change the iCloud and iTunes Store AppleIDs (sign out of the one you have, sign into the one you want). Note that you can't transfer apps from one AppleID to another, so you may still be prompted for your old AppleID password to update any apps that you installed under that ID.

Her iPhone will need to be set up to iTunes Match using your Apple ID to be able to share music via iTunes Match. Otherwise you'll have to download the music to your computer and then copy those tracks into her iTunes library, assuming hers is separate.

I would also caution you to make sure that you understand the implications of signing in with another Apple ID. If you changed your Apple ID, go to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap the old ID and sign out, then sign in with the new ID. Read this as well.

It is best to stop making all new apple IDs, as software is permanently tied to them, and you can't converge them. Make differnt ones if you plan to get divorced though....

Syncing an iDevice to a computer does not remove content from the computer.
Syncing an iDevice to a computer that it does not normally sync with will remove the content from that device.
If the media was acquired with a different Apple ID it is in no way linked to your Apple ID.
