IPhone purchased album lost after restore.

So I purchased an album off iTunes directly onto my iPhone. The next day, my iPhone froze up and I was directed by the website to eventually do a restore. Obviously, this deleted that album off my iPhone before I had a chance to sync it to my computer.
Has anyone had this problem, yet? I saw one of Apple's policies is that you have to repurchase an album if it's lost, which seems a bit silly and greedy to me, but I'm hoping they've revised their thinking with the onset of the iPhone's Wifi iTunes music store.
Thanks,
Scotty

Same thing happened to me. Except it deleted only half my album.

  • IPhone won't activate after restore

Can't activate my iPhone 4S after restoring it to factory settings on iOS 6. It's been 12 hours now. I tried restoring it several times through iTunes and so far no luck. Feel very frustrated. What do I do?
This is the message that gets displayed when I try to activate the phone:
"Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable."

I had the same issue, and just took took it to the Apple Store.  They had the same problem and ended up replacing my phone.

    could not activate iphone.....after restore.

    Hello dar1000ex,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing after restoring your iPhone.  I recommend the following steps:
    Symptoms
Your iPhone may display one of the following messages when you attempt to activate it:
"Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable."
"The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported"
"The iPhone is not recognized and cannot be activated for service."
"iTunes was unable to verify your device."
ResolutionPerform the following steps if you receive one of the messages above:
    Restart the iPhone.
Try another means of reaching the activation server and attempt to activate.
Try connecting to a known-good Wi-Fi network if you're unable to activate using a cellular data connection.
Try connecting to iTunes if you're unable to activate using Wi-Fi.
    Restore the iPhone.
If you receive an alert message when you attempt to activate your iPhone, try to place the iPhone in recovery mode and perform a restore. If you're still unable to complete the setup assistant due to an activation error, contact Apple for assistance.

  • HT201407 iPhone unable to activate after restore

    Hi,
I have just restored my old iPhone 3GS 8GB (without a sim card in it) as I was going to sell it. However after restoring it via iTunes a message appears "we are unable to continue with your activation at this time. Please try again later, or contact customer care"
I have tried it several times but get the same message, any ideas?
    Thanks

iPhones require a SIM for activation.
If the device still will not activate, this is typically the result of a device that has been hacked or jailbroken.  If that is the case, no support can be provided here.

  • All iPad photos saved locally lost after restore

    Hi,
My (original v1) iPad started acting up so I decided to do a full restore via iTunes. Before proceeding I backed up / synced to my Macbook Pro. After restore iPad was wiped as expected, I then did a restore from my last iTunes backup. It came up with a "Backup corrupted or wrong version" but then proceeded to restore anyway, so all music, apps etc. were restored successfully.
However all Photos I saved locally on the iPad by holding down / Save Photo or doing Home / Lock button frame grabs have disappeared. I can't seem to find any specific option within iTunes that refer to these pictures. Photostream was disabled.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

Was the original problem that her device was signed into an old iCloud ID that had since been updated to a new email address, and as a result you were unable to access (sync) that data in the existing account?

  • Please HELP very important video lost after restoring from backup

I used my iphone 4 to record me preposing to my fiance and then today I stupidly sync to computer and restore from my 3GS backup before backing up the video files. Is there anyway to get the video back? Please help this is the most important thing in our life. Anything, Anyone please help. I am very devastated right now!

Too be honest. If you recorded the video on the iPhone 4, and then synced the iPhone 4 to iTunes to the computer it is usually connected to, then the video should be backed up.
I'm not sure though, how you managed to have your iPhone 4 up and running, but then restore from a backup from your 3GS?? If you have synced your iPhone 4 to iTunes before, then the backup will have been from the iPhone 4. You get the option the first time you connect the iPhone 4 to iTunes, to either setup as a new device or restore from a backup (that's if you have had a iPhone previously). You can restore the iPhone (which would set it up has a new device, which would remove everything off of it). If you have done this, has far as I know the old information off of the iPhone, would be still there until you synced the iPhone to iTunes again.
In Windows, the library file for iTunes is in username (whatever you are called) music/iTunes, the library file is called iTunes Library.itl, also in this location is the iTunes/iTunes Media folder, in there should be any video/s that have been synced from your iPhone.
Other information off of the iPhone are in the following location:
(You will need to first make sure you have Windows set to show hidden files & folders), Username/AppData/Roaming/Apple Computer
I hope you manage to find your video.

  • IPhone 6 plus - SOME contacts are lost after restoring from iPhone 5

    PLEASE HELP!!!
Went today to an Apple store for them to help me to do the restore from a backup as something was going wrong with iTunes.
They seemed to "successfully" to do it - from iPhone 5 to iPhone 6 plus - all the apps moved, the interface, everything BUT after a couple of hours I've noticed that some contacts from the phone were missing and nowhere to be found AND now in the list of favorites ONLY SOME contacts don't have the names to them but only the numbers show up? WHAT'S UP with that?
This is my 5th or 6th phone and the whole backing up and restoring never been this difficult... grrrr!!!

  • Purchased apps/films etc. lost after restoring ipad

I just restored my iPad and all is gone, even purchased items! Can I restore somehow the purchased apps/films/books etc.?

As long as they are still available in the store then apps and ibooks can be re-download for free, music in some countries, TV shows in fewer countries, and films in fewer still : re-downloading. Have you not gpt copies of them on your computer and/or on a backup ? If not, and your aren't in a country where you can re-download films then you can try contacting iTunes support and see if they will grant you a re-download : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Express Lane, then iTunes > iTunes Store

  • Voice memos lost after restore. I've tried everything.

When I plugged my iPhone 5 in a few weeks ago it said it needed to update the software. I clicked OK. It froze hard while doing this. I had to do a restore. That's when I "lost" my voice memos. For voice memos I use the app "Recorder" by Bear-Software (I asked them for help but got no answer). After the restore all of my voice memos are gone, sort of. The folders and times of the individual voice memos were all put back on my iPhone, but if I try to play any of them I get the message "Warningw (sic) There was an error loading the sound file." I looked at my time machine backups. It appears that my voice memos stopped backing up about one year ago. Why, I don't know (I have Voice Memos checked in iTunes). I tried iExplorer and Wondershare Dr.Fone. All they find are those 17 old voice memos from a year or two ago. Ditto for PhoneView. Nothing from the past 12 months. Hundreds of voice memos are gone, but if they are really gone how were the "titles" of each voice memo (the day/month/time), and even the exact number of seconds for each one, put back on the iPhone without the actual associated audio file? Am I looking in the wrong place for these backups?
User --> Library --> Application Support --> MobileSync --> Backup
This MobileSync Backup file has every item in it listed as a "document."
Any help will be much appreciated!

This support document tells you about the location of your backups http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4946
The backup file is not intended to be looked at as if it were just a compilation of data, it is somewhat encrypted.
Did this app supposed to have saved the voicememo in such a way that when you sync the phone it was located as music? I don't think an application has the access to the iOS to be able to do this. I would think they are located within the app itself as app data like may other apps are. If that is the case, the app data should be saved as part of the backup, but should only be accessed via the app itself.
My thought is that the only place for you to get support on this would be the app developer, as they should be able to tell you how you might be able to find where data is stored.

  • Missing album art after restore

This seems to be a recurring issue but I haven't found any definite solutions. After I restored my iPhone 5 and then restored my backup, the album art for much of my music is gone. They'll all show up on the Songs menu, but under Artist and Album, only some will show up. I've tried unsyncing (removing) all the songs and then resyncing (readding) them but to no avail. How can I get the album art to be displayed for everything?

Delete and re-sync the affected songs.

  • IPhoto 09 - some recent events lost after restoring from Time Machine

recently my early-2009 iMac hanged during boot up on the white screen. so i a restore from Time Machine and it works. this freezing occurred twice of the last one week, which i did 2 restore to last backup. then i notice there's an issue with iPhoto 09. i notice some latest events which supposedly been backup during the restore point, appears 'blank'. when i enter Time Machine, i see all previous events but the recent day or two, it just turn out to be black squares, and when i enter the events there weren't any photos but just files with names.
i tested again but loading in a couple of new photos into iPhoto yesterday night, back it up and double check in Time Machine, it is (the new photos) there. about 6-hours later i make a check again (on Time Machine), the photos event became the black square again. this is really a pain for me as i have lost enough photos
i desperately need help on this. anyone?
here a couple of the screenshot from my Time Machine:

    Hello mook,
    So if I understand:
1.) The goal is to restore the iPhoto Library from a point before the issues started happening
2.) When you try to go backwards in Time Machine while inside the iPhoto window you get a blank Library when you get to the date range you want.
    What to do:
    - As you cannot seem to access the iPhoto contents using the iPhoto window I would suggest the following:
1.) Navigate using the Finder to ~/Pictures (or whatever folder you are currently housing your iPhoto Library in)
2.) Rename the current iPhoto Library to something else (Like iPhoto Library Old etc)
3.) While looking at this Pictures window, activate Time Machine and go back in time to a date when YOU ARE SURE iPhoto was working fine and had the images you want
4.) Click on the iPhoto Library in the Time Machine window and click on Restore
-- This will restore the Library from the date in question
-- You will have 2 libraries once the restore is complete. The freshly restored library and the old library. Keep the old library just for safe keeping until such time as you determine you have all the pictures you want. Then you can do whatever you want with it (trash it, etc)
    Hope that helps.

  • Why is my iPhone not responding even after restoring

some one please help me !

    Hello Hello Katrina,
It sounds like you are unable to restore your phone successfully, as it keeps getting stuck at the loading screen. I recomend putting the phone into recovery mode and attempting the restore again. The following article will assist you with that:
If you can't update or restore your iOS device
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
    Use recovery mode
Recovery mode erases your device and restores it, which should resolve the issue. If you previously synced with iTunes or iCloud, you may be able to restore from your backup after recovery.
Turn off your device. If you can't turn it off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time and wait a few seconds for it to turn off.
Plug the device's USB cable into your computer only.
Hold down the device's Home button as you connect the USB cable to it.
When you see the Connect to iTunes screen, release the Home button. If you don't see this screen, try steps 1 through 3 one more time.
iTunes should open and display a message such as: "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes."
Use iTunes to restore your device.
If you don't see your device in iTunes, follow these steps for Mac or these for Windows.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Sterling
