Iphone reboot loop. help plz

I have in iphone 3gs in a reboot loop and need it fixed. i have a chromebook and cannot get itunes that i know of. any help is appreciated. i've also tried the volume up button thing and it didnt work. thanks

I am experiencing the same problem, and i have attempted NO jailbreak or other iphone hacked software. My screen will slowly fade to white, and then go into an endless reboot cycle, or just glow bright white til the battery dies. I have tried restoring with itunes via recovery, and i receive error (2003).
(EDIT)
I successfully restored my iphone, and it worked GREAT! until i removed it from the cradle, and my screen jumped straight to apple logo, descending into the bottomless pit of reboot cycles.

  • Msi z77 mpower. higher than 8gb = reboot loop. help.

Hey guys I'm posting this in hopes that maybe someone could figure out what is causing my new build to reboot loop without post if I added anything higher than 8gb of ram stick. I updated the bios to latest non-beta version, drivers all updated, and made sure that all connectors were correct and properly attached.
    Here is my build:
    i7 3770k
    Corsair H80 liq.cooling
    MSI Z77 Mpower Mobo
    Corsair Vengeance 16gb (4x4gb) 1600MHz [9-9-9-24]
    Asus Geforce GTX 670
    Corsair AX850 psu
    2 WD Black 1gb HD
    Win 7 Ultimate 64bit SP1
Everything is at default options since I didn't want to overclock without including the full 4 sticks of ram. Whenever I add a stick into slots 1 or 2 while having a stick in either(or both) slots 3 and/or 4, and attempt to start it up, the mobo's debug shows 55(early memory initialization) and then gets stuck in a reboot loop. It boots up fine if I only add 1 stick in either slot 1 or 2 but if I add either a stick in slot 3 or 4 or add a stick in 2 while having a stick in 1, reboot loop occurs. I've searched everywhere for similar problems and actually did find one on this forums, https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=162331.0, except that the thread starter's problems were about getting the reboot loop problem after he has overclocked his system and nothing about the number of ram he has added.
fyi: the mobo names ram slots(from left to right) as slots 3, 4, 1, 2 (in case anyone gets confused reading what I have wrote above)
Some assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Honestly, it doesn't matter what slots are what number because I cannot add a 3rd stick (more than 8gb) without pc going into reboot loop and or any variations of dual channel setup without pc going into reboot loop.

Sounds like maybe the DRAM V. is being set too low by the BIOS. Raise it to 1.55-1.575v's and see if that resolves it.
using your #1 image, if i try to add stick in dimm1&3 or dimm2&4 it would reboot loop. If I tried 1&4 or dimm2&3 it would reboot loop.
If i tried dimm3&4 it would reboot loop.
BUT if I did dimm1&2 like I have it right now, it would boot up with no problems. I have already tried raising the DRAM V with no luck as well.

  • White screen of death and reboot loop help!!!

I have a problem with my curve, I have a white screen of death. This happens whenever I turn on my blackberry. Also my phone is stuck in a continuous loop of it rebooting, loading up showing the home screen and then rebooting again. What do I do? i have tried battrey pulls and pressing on the corners of the screen

Deal with the rebooting first.  If you have a media card installed, remove it and test.   If it isn't the media card that is the problem, see if you can reboot in safe mode, then do a a full backup.   While in safe mode, after the backup, you can try removing any apps or themes you added and then test.  Ultimately you will probably end up reinstalling the OS.
Once you have the device booting up and staying on, hopefully, see what you see.  If the screen is all white with no text or icon, you have a hardware problem with a connection to the display.
Caveat: If have gotten the device wet or dropped it, all bets are off.

  • 8220 Flip Reboot Loop Help Pls.....

My flip will just randomly shut off and then go into a constant reboot cycle. Ive read other threads on here from ppl with the same problems.
Ill wipe the phone with jl_cmder and install the newest software .305 with the loader after deleting the vendor file.
The phone will work fine for about a day and then it will go back to the rebooting thing. This happens even if I havent downloaded anything and kept the phone completely factory.
Im at my wits end and beginning to think it is a hardware issue. The phone has worked fine for the 2 months ive had it and this just recently started.
I got this phone off ebay so I can't get Rogers to exchange it.  It seems like this is a known problem with this phone.

No Help from Blackberry. I had 3 of these lemon phones and others have had 9 or more.

  • Reboot loop: Help me delete all login items with Terminal

I updated my Macbook (5,1) from Lion to Mountain Lion and began soon thereafter to get the error that the computer had restarted after a problem. For a few days the computer would nevertheless reach desktop after a restart and could be used.
I thought that perhaps the error came from the login items and saw on Rogue Amoeba's site that SoundSource isn't yet compatible with ML. Removing it seemed to cure the problem.
But as of this morning the computer is stuck in a restart "loop". It shows the apple and spinner and a grey progress bar. When the bar is almost completed (a millimeter or so remaining) the computer restarts and does the same thing all over.
I have now managed to get to the recovery partition with cmd-r. I have repaired the disk with DU and I would like to remove all login items using Terminal but haven't got a clue how to do it. I have searched but don't find good walkthroughs. So I would very much appreciate help on how to do this.
My login items are Skype, Dropbox and iTeleport.
    Cheers and many thanks
    /p

    Thanks for the replies.
@ mende1 - I did hold cmd-R to reach the recovery partition. How do I now leave safe mode (if it is stuck in that) and boot normally?
@ Thomas - DU seems to be successful in repairing the disk. It doesn't report any errors - just says what it is "checking", "updating" and "adjusting" (not a very long list at all) - but it concludes with partition map appears to be OK.
My other Mac has all my files so I don't mind reinstalling on this one, except for the fact that I would have to reinstall all the applications and I don't have them with me where I am at the moment.
If I choose to reinstall when booted with cmd-r will it re-download or install from a local copy? Re-downloading will take forever because I only have mobile (3G) broadband here.
Do I have any other options?
    Thanks for helping.

  • First time IPhone 4 owner-Help plz

    Hi,
I received my IPhone 4 from Verizon last Monday and have been tring to figure out what it can and cannot do. Mostly using MMS. Can't forward a MMS that has a pix, text and sound? Can only forward a MMS to 3 address'? Transferred MMS files from BB and found out my animated ones were saved as stills. I'm really getting frustrated with the whole MMS program and the lack of information on what the phone can and cannot do.

I've been with Verizon for over 5 years and have never had this issue. Just when I switched from a Blackberry to the IPhone did it start. My Husband has a non smart text phone on Verizon and can forward animated MMS as well as one that have an animatied pic, a sound and some text all together on one. He also had a BB on Verizon and was able to as well on it.

  • IPhone stuck in reboot loop - too many apps installed?

    Hi guys!
Starting some months ago, I've had nothing but problems with my iPhone. However, I've been dealing with most of these or even solved them.
But now I'm stuck on a reboot loop for a few days and don't know what to do.
When did it start? I think it was in May when I first got panic.plist, ResetCounter and SpringBoard-CrashLogs under "Diagnostics and Usage". Following this, everytime I rebooted my phone or the battery was empty, it could take some more minutes than normal for my iPhone to boot. This loading time increased and increased, in October it once took more than two days for my iPhone to reboot. I now have really thousands of those ErrorLogs. The Apple support on the phone couldn't help me either. Additionally, the phone performed some cruel changes I can't explain: Once the language was changed, once the photo gallery had to be restored (the iPhone did that on its own).
However, sometime in November the iPhone crashed, and I was already thinking that it would now last a few days until I could use it again. But somehow it was done within 15 minutes. Without any error or reboot loop. The last two months I haven't had any problems with this until the battery was empty three days ago.
Since then, I have had the iPhone plugged in so the battery doesn't get empty and it's stuck on the bright Apple logo. After about 210 seconds the logo gets dark, then the screen is completely black and it's starting the same procedure again. Sometimes I get the vibration, sometimes the loading circle (white wheel of death!), but everytime it just starts over again.
I am pretty sure this problem appears because I have more than 1300 apps installed (yes, this is a very huge number, but I remember Steve Jobs saying that, with the folders in iOS 4, it would be possible to have a few thousand apps installed), 4000+ photos, and so on. I am pretty sure it's not a hardware, but a software problem. In detail, it's about the SpringBoard. The iPhone 4S only has 512MB RAM, so it's hard for it to load 1300+ app icons into its memory (which it has to because the SpringBoard has to run without any lags). Only in some cases it's able to boot that up, but I have absolutely no idea which cases these are and why it has run well for the last two months, but beginning with the new year stopped to work.
Furthermore, the panic.plist entries all say that the problem is a watchdog timeout. Apple's iOS seems to allow the devices only to take up to two minutes (always around 120 seconds in the CrashLogs) to boot up, then probably another 120 seconds to launch the SpringBoard process (which explains the watchdog timeouts in the SpringBoard-CrashLogs).
I will not restore the iPhone because I unfortunately haven't backed up for a long time and there have been many data changes since the last backup.
So altogether, I tried to collect all the information I know here, but that's really not enough. Apple unlikely wants to help me, the phone support was really nice, but even asked his superior, who couldn't help either.
My questions to you folks now are: Do you have any more information regarding panic.plist's, watchdog timeouts or reboot loops?
What would your advice be? Any chance to get onto my data and back it up? Or is waiting the best solution?
Would it be better to try several hard resets, or let the battery run empty and start the whole process again, or just let the phone plugged in so it tries to reboot on and on until it's hopefully successful sometime?
And: Would it maybe increase the loading time if I would take the SIM card out of the iPhone, so the chance to have an successful try would be higher?
Note: I am still using iOS 5.1.1 because I am completely sure that I'd have to buy an iPhone 5 to run 1300+ apps on iOS 6.

Okay, some more information about this.
Apparently there is a 'watchdog' that listens whether the iPhone's software responds or not. If it doesn't, it forces a restart, and also creates a panic.plist entry (under Diagnostics). Unfortunately the responding time is only 120 seconds. The problem I have now is the so called 'Application Map'. To ensure a smooth browsing through the different screen filled with apps, this map is regenerated everytime the user installs a new app or deletes one. Because I have more than 1300 apps installed, generating this Application Map usually takes more than two minutes. I can only hope that sometime in the next days my iPhone will be able to do this in less than 120 seconds (like it has done that several times before).
I still can't explain why everything had been working great during the last two months. I have probably installed some new apps, but also deleted other ones, so the number of total apps didn't really increase heavily.
However, I've read about some possible solutions to this problem (without restoring - which would solve the problem only temporarily anyway):
Hard-resetting the iPhone until the screen is completely black, then wait a few minutes, then turn the device on. It's possible that this has to be repeated several times, but for the user who posted this it resolved the issue.
For all the (in this case lucky) guys with a jailbreak: SSH into the iPhone, then temporarily move the watchdog located under /System/Library/SystemConfiguration/mobilewatchdog.bundle to a different folder, the iPhone will boot up after a few minutes. Then just move the watchdog back. It's a shame that apparently jailbreak users can resolve this issue, while normal users can't.
I also want to note that this problem has been appearing since iOS 2, which came out more than four years ago. It would be really no big deal for Apple developers to change the 120 seconds to e.g. 300 or even more. I've found hundreds of threads, not only here, where users complain about exactly the same issue. I don't have any hope that an Apple employee will ever read this, but if so, please keep that in mind. I don't understand why Apple has done nothing to solve this issue.
However, if you have any more ideas, please reply here. If there's anyone around here who has managed to successfully install more than 1300 apps on his iPhone (or iPod touch), please post that.

  • Random iPhone crashes and reboot loop after iOS 7 upgrade

    Hi all
Since I upgraded my iPhone to iOS 7, I suffer from random crashes/resets, where my iPhone reboots and enters a reboot loop (Apple logo, black screen, reboot, Apple logo, black screen, reboot, etc) that I can only exit by restoring the device (resetting doesn't help).
    Some more information
    a) The device: iPhone 4, 32 GB, has never been jailbroken, and has never shown any similar issues before.
    b) The crashes/reboots: I haven't been able yet to find a pattern when and why they happen. I had reboots when searching for an app, when pluging in the wall charger, when entering the access code, and even when doing nothing at all (iPhone in my pocket). The only constant is the reboot loop after the crash.
    c) What I tried so far: I restored the device several times, using normal restore (with the iTunes logo) and DFU mode (black screen). After that, I recovered from a recent backup (takes some hours), and everything is ok again - for some hours, until the next crash and reboot loop. I also set up the device as a new phone, and there it seems stable, so I exclude a hardware issue. I tried quite a few of the advices that I found when googling for reboot loops: reset all settings (this led to an another immediate crash and reboot loop), disable app background refresh, etc.
I've been using this device for my daily business. With the current instability (and the couple of hours it takes to bring it back to life again), it became more or less useless. I wish I could downgrade again (I know that I can't). My assumption is that either iOS 7, or some incompatible app or some corrupt setting is causing this situation. But I don't know how to proceed to isolate and eliminate the issue. I really would like to avoid setting up everything from scratch again.
    Any advice is greatly appreciated!

    All,
First of all, sorry for my half-finished post above. While typing, I was interrupted, and by reflex I hit CMD-S. Unfortunately, the stupid interface of Apple's support website interpreted that as a submit command. I tried to complete my text with the update function, but when finally hitting the submit button, I got an error message, and all my updated text was gone... No way to bring it back, and also no way to delete the half-baked posting. Quite frustrating.
Now, to complete what I started above:
In my case, the problem definitely had something to do with the springboard process (an iOS system 'app' that manages the iOS homescreens) and the watchdog process (another iOS system 'app' that monitors certain things on your phone and that can initiate a restart when it thinks the phone is frozen). In the folder '/Users/<your account>/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/MobileDevice/<your phone>' I could see what caused my crashes; they were all 'stack+SpringBoard' and the reason in these crash log files was 'Watchdog timeout'.
The following two forum posts helped me:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1676330?start=30&tstart=0
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/20794982#20794982
I'm quite sure that my issues had to do with the 'application map' that is mentioned in the above posts. So far, Ive been thinking that it was just too large (as in the case of Andi1996 [second link above]), but jmbladen's observation seems not to support this. So, the absolute number might not the source of the problem, but I still assume that something went wrong with my application map during the upgrade from iOS6 to iOS7. I remember having stability problems before, as soon as all my 10 home screens were full of apps and newly downloaded apps would generate additional pages (only visible via iTunes). Considering that there are some fundamental changes to how we can organize apps within folders in iOS 7, it can well be that the springboard process just wasn't able to cope with my application map correctly within the 120 seconds before the watchdog process restarts the phone. My massive cleanup action must have fixed this somehow.
@jmbladen: I'm only using iCloud for the 'find my phone' functionality, so all the backup & recovery was done via iTunes from my local harddisk. And there was no temporal pattern for my crashes before. You might suffer from the same symptoms, but probably not because of the same cause.
My advice for anyone affected by random crashes and a reboot loop is to check out the directory with the CrashReporter logs mentioned above to find out what app or process causes the crash. If it's the springboard and watchdog problem, then you should try to clean up your home screens (from iTunes). Maybe the absolute number of apps is not that important, but make sure that you reduce the number of screens. And then sync and backup before you start using the phone again. In my case it helped.
Hope this helps someone else too.
P.S. Once you know the right keywords to search for, you find forum postings back to 2008 / iOS 2 describing exactly the same problem. This reboot loop is a very nasty issue, and it is hard to understand that Apple still hasn't been able to address this, or at least provide some better help on how to get out of it again.

  • HELP!!! MBA will not boot. It's in a constant "reboot loop!"

Hi! I was having issues with my MBA and it's well known problem with getting a bit hot and shutting down the core etc. One post mentioned coolbook. Several peole gave it the thumbs up so I decided to give it a try. Installed it and was asked to restart. Now my MBA is in a constant reboot loop and will not start-up. it gets as far as the gray screen with the Apple logo and the spinning wheel. Then about a minute or so later it reboots. And this goes on and on forever. The MBA is now insanely hot and I have turned the MBA off not to cause any damage.
I can not boot in safe mode.
    Any ideas??
    Thanks!!

thanks for the views, but seems nobody wanted to help. cheers for that!
i managed to reboot using the OS X DVD and reinstalling. Now I have an eject symbol in my system bar top right corner and my superdrive will not "eject". this means I can not use the USB for anything else. meanwhile I ejected the OS X DVD from the drive and tried to reinsert it. NADA.
Getting to the point where I am fed up with the MBA. It gets so hot I could fry an egg on it. The system must be running something in the background, becasue even with a new install it still is slow and stutters (and no, I did not start you tube!) either this is from a real crappy batch, or I looked at it the wrong way.
Looks like I am heading back to the MBpro.
