IPhone Reception with Micro SIM?

Hey Apple Discussions,
I have just received an iPhone 4 for Christmas today and I instantly stuck my Three UK Micro SIM card in there.
I've noticed that I'm only pulling in two-three bars of service when with my 3GS and the standard SIM, it was a four-five bars of service.
I'm wondering if the Micro SIM has any affect on it and if the iPhone 4 also has any affect on it?
I am using the bumper case too so the "death grip" is a non-issue.
Thanks.

Thanks for the response.
And yes, I do understand that phones use formulas to calculate the signal strength. Saying this, as far as I'm aware the formula it uses is OS specific rather than to the phone.
I have had an iPhone 3GS running on iOS 4, same network and it always had shown four-five bars?

  • How do I activate a used iPhone 3 with no SIM card for use as an ipod touch?

    How do I activate a used iPhone 3G with no SIM card for use like an iPod Touch? It was apparently on AT&T previously and I have another iPhone 3 that is active on AT&T if that is helpful. Thanks!

    Follow these steps to use your iPhone without a wireless service plan:
    Insert the SIM card from your new, activated iPhone or one that was previously used to activate the original iPhone.
    Connect the iPhone to iTunes on a computer connected to the Internet.
    Once iTunes activates the device, you're free to use the iPhone as if it were an iPod touch.

    I have a iphone 4 with no SIM trey hole. Is there anyway i can get the serial number without using itunes? My iphone is disabled and will not connect to my computer because it is locked.

    Why do you need the serial number? You could get it if you'd ever synced it to that copy of iTunes before, but I'm guessing that's not the case.  You need to put the phone into recovery mode and restore it if it's disabled now. There really isn't any other choice.

  • Using UK iPhone 4 Vodafone micro SIM in iPad

    Hello:
    I have an iPhone 4 with a UK monthly contract with Vodafone.
    I also have an iPad 3G, but do not have a SIM card for it, usually using it through wi-fi. I might eventually get a SIM card for it so that I can use the 3G.
    But a thought has come to me. With my iPhone 4 with Vodafone UK I have a data plan as well as voice, but probably never use up the monthly data. I'm just wondering that when I find myself somewhere there is no wi-fi but I can get a 3G signal, is there any way I can take the mico SIM out of my iPhone 4 and put it in to my iPad 3G and use it with my iPad.
    I imagine that Vodafone will probably be a bit sniffy about this, and maybe they have already blocked people doing this. I haven't tried it yet because I'm not sure what consequences it might have for messing up my settings etc. on iPhone4 and iPad 3G. But, has anybody done this, and does it work ?
    I guess my rationale in wanting to do this is that I am paying Vodafone for data that I am not using on my iPhone, so it is my data which I've paid for, so why can't I access and use it on my iPad 3G if that is technically possible. Vodafone still gets paid, and I get to use the data I've paid for. Simples, no ?!

    I gave this a try with vodafone, the carrier information was displayed at the top however when I attempted to connect to the internet I received a message stating that I did not subscribe to a data plan. I haven't played about with it so can't comment on how to get the iPad to recognise that there is a data plan. However, I can confirm that it works with a t-mobile micro sim.
    It would be interesting to see if anyone else had had any luck in getting micro sims intended for an iPhone to work with an iPad and how they managed this.

  • Problem with Micro Sim release Mechanism. Please help?

    I am using Ipad2 and tried to change the Micro SIM using the Pins to release it. The Micro Sim holder is not coming out as usual and there seems to be an internal problem with the release mechanism. For now, I can't access my Micro Sim. Please help?

    Tried as suggested but it does not work. Something seems wrong in the release mechanism. Thanks anyway. Is there any other option? If I bring it the Apple Service Center, will they be able to work it out?

  • Can I activate iPhone 4S with a SIM from one country and then use with a SIM from another country?

    I bought a factory unlocked iPhone 4S from an Apple store in the U.S. and I am in Guatemala. I want to use it now but later on I will move to New Zealand. Can I activate it with a SIM card from Guatemala and then use it with a SIM card from New Zealand? I am just wondering if it will get locked with the Guatemalan SIM card. Or does it just need a SIM from any supported carrier and then it remains unlocked to use with any other carrier? Thanks

    David,
    As I (mis)understand it, you may:
    1) Copy one orange gradient path to the magenta gradient path document;
    2) Select the two magenta gradient paths and change the Fill to None;
    3) Select the orange gradient path;
    4) Select the two magenta gradient paths and change the Fill to Gradient.
    That should give you the desired replacement. For multiple use of the same gradient, you may consider a gradient swatch.

  • IPhone G3 with prepaid sim : disable G3 and edge ?

    I have a iPhone G3 (2.2) with prepaid sim card.
    I want to use the iPhone for calls and connection to internet only by WiFi.
    WiFi is OK, but when I recharge the prepay sim card, the iPhone connects to internet by G3 or Edge (although I disabled G3).
    Now the prepay gets to ZERO in 3 days...
    How to configure the iPhone to NOT connect to internet by G3 or Edge ?

    You cannot, unless your carrier disables data connectivity on your account. You can turn on Airplane Mode then turn Wi-Fi back on, which will prevent you from using cellular data, but also prevent voice calls.

  • Did the iphone works with egyptian sim card in egypt inspite of purchased from usa, did the iphone works in egypt dispite of purchased from usa

    dose the iphone work in egypt with egyptian sim card inspite of it purchased from usa

    If the iPhone is officially unlocked, then it should work with any compatible carrier anywhere. You will not get any support from Apple in Egypt for a US-sold iPhone, though.

  • Why won't this iPhone work with this SIM??

    I recently sold my iPhone 3GS on eBay after getting my iPhone 4. Before I shipped it, I took out the SIM, and wiped it of its data. I shipped it out, and now the buyer is telling me that he cannot activate it with his SIM card or service. He says he has the data plan etc. I didn't unlock it or anything... All I did was take out the SIM, wipe it, then ship it. What are some possible reasons he cannot use it with his service? (which is AT&T)

    No, the SIM is sorta unique for the iPhone. He has to tell AT&T he has an iPhone, they will give him new SIM for it. That SIM will work in iPhone (or other phones). But you cannot put a SIM from another phone into an iPhone.
    Sorry, but you are mistaken.
    The iPhone 2G, 3G, and 3GS all use a standard SIM. That is what we are discussing here.
    The iPhone 4 has a microSIM. That is not the OP's issue.
    ANY SIM from any AT&T phone (excluding iPhone 4) will fit into the iPhone and work with it as long as it's a 3G SIM, it should have the 3G fireball logo on it. If it is not a 3G SIM, then the purchaser can go to any AT&T corp store and they will generally give the user a new SIM free of charge.

  • IPhone 4 with out sim tray? How to change out SIM card?

    How can I swap out SIM card in iPhone with out sim slot?

    Thank you all for trying to help! Sorry if I seamed short in my reply! All I wanted to do was remove the sim from one phone and move it to the other! But my iPhone does not have an external port for SIM card addition or removal! All our other phones you insert the pin, pull out tray, swap out cards and you were ready to go! Only one of our phones came with out the spot for the sim! I think I will get home and remove back cover and look for SIM card! If I find it I'll switch it over if not I'll take it in to apple!
    thank you all for your help!
