IPhone Remote app hangs on Verifying Remote Password

When connecting to iTunes 7.7 Mac or PC from an iPhone 3G using the Remote app iTunes wont accept the passcode that the iPhone displays. It just hangs after entering the 4 digits, times out and request them again.
What I've found is that this seems to only happen if you access iTunes via an Apple Extreme - if I go via a non Apple WiFi access point it works fine every time. Web access etc from the iPhone via the Extreme seems fine. Both PC's are connected to the network via wired connections , one via the inbuilt (non GB) switch on the Extreme. . If I enable the inbuilt WiFi on the Mac it seems to work OK too via the adhoc. However switching back to wired it fails again , unless it's via the non Apple access point. I don't believe this is a firewall issue.

I too have spent a lot of time trying to get this working and so far I've had success. I'm running iTunes 8.0.2.22 on 64-bit Windows 7 Beta Build 7000. Some of what I did was taken from another reply to this thread and I'm not sure exactly what did it, but I had tried everything I could think of. Here are the steps I took:
* Reset router
* Ensuring media sharing was on in Control Panel/Network and Sharing Center
* Removing the remote app from the iphone and then reinstalling from the app store DIRECTLY on iPhone
* Added Inbound AND Outbound firewall rules (Windows Firewall\Advanced Settings) for TCP AND UDP ports 3689 and 5353
* Added Inbound AND Outbound firewall rules for Bonjour AND iTunes applications
* Reboot computer
* Launch remote app on iPhone and bring it to the 4 digit code screen
* Launch iTunes
So far so good. The configuration has been working since I completed all of those steps even once the iPhone has been powered off and back on. Some of those steps might not be needed but I was at a complete loss as to why iPhone Remote wouldn't work so I went overkill with the troubleshooting.

Can I pair the 'Remote' app without the original remote?

A series of ocurrences has led to the need to pair the iPhone's 'Remote' app with my first gen Apple TV without actually having to navigate on the Apple TV using the original remote. Is this even possible? I am willing to do root work using Terminal, etc. N.B. I am on a Clear Wireless network and already have all my data on the Apple TV. Thank you very much for any help you can provide!

There is no official way to accomplish what you want without a functioning remote (any white Apple remote not necessarily the one it shipped with. Newer silver remote might work ok too - I'll check).

TS1741 I have home sharing on both my computer and my iPad remote app. But the remote app no longer works.

My remote app. Use to work perfect. It quit working and now I get a blue screen telling me o turn on home sharing. I've done that on both my mc and iPad with no luck getting the remote and iTunes to pair. Any suggestions?

lower left corner on the text
top of the context menu click devices
choose the appletv rather then your shared lib in the list
if you are trying to view a movie that is located on your ipad on your tv using the appletv then
you should use airplay mirror not the remote app

IPhone Phone App Hangs

My iPhone Phone app suddenly started hanging. I cannot receive a phone call and I cannot make a phone call. I made a hard shutdown for my iPhone several times but of no use.
I made a reset for all iPhone settings and again of no use.
Please help me =)

Same occurred to me today. Running iPhone [email protected]
Sometime when you enter the phone application, one can occasionally scroll the call list but then all freezes. No buttons at the bottom seem to work at all.
A reset/new setup of the phone as suggested by Ingo2711 seems ridicules. Any other solution from Apple Support?

IPhone remote app no longer working after iPhone update to version 4.2.1

I have 4 apple TV generation 3 devices. I have had these (and some older Apple TV 2 devices) for a number of years.
I have home sharing enabled on all the TV devices and use the iPhone remote app or the iPad remote app to control them.
After the update to version 4.2.1 my iPhone (and my wifes) can no longer see any of the apple TV devices and I get the message
"Turn on Home Sharing in iTunes on your computer or on Apple TV using the account $my account"
Home sharing is turned on on the iPhone devices (I have disabled it and re-enabled it and re-signed in to prove this as well as re-downloading the remote app direct from the app store)
Home sharing is enabled on all the Apple TV devices
I know this is working as the iPads can still see the Apple TV devices, but the iPhone 5s's both myself and my wife have cannot see them.
This has worked fine for years but after the 4.2.1 update the iPhone is unable to interact at all as if home sharing is not enabled.
I've one through the trouble shooting guides on the support pages but they don't do anything, and I didn't expect them to as I know home sharing is setup just fine as a.) it was working b.) the iPads are still working with the apple TV's
Suggestions ?

Issue is still occuring, after resetting wireless router.
Router: Netgear WNDR3400, SSID's turned off, WMM is enabled.

How can I set the Remote app to work if I have lost my apple remote?

I lost my remote to my Apple TV and I can't go into town to get another at the moment because there was a lot of snow and ice here. So, I'm wondering how I can set my iPhone 5 up as a remote using the remote app without the normal remote. I know the remote app used to auto-connect to the Apple TV, but since recent updates, you have to set it up as a remote on the actual Apple TV itself. Is there a way to get around this? Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the Apple Community Dylan.
There is no way to set up home sharing on the Apple TV without the original remote from Apple, you will need to purchase a new remote from the Apple Store.
If you already have homesharing set up on the Apple TV, you merely need to set it up in the remote app settings.

I tried to update my iphone apps. IT said my password was wrong (it wasnt). I reset my password, but it still didn't recognise this. So i cant update my apps now as my password isnt recognised.

I tried to update my iphone 4 apps, but it said the password i was entering was wrong - it wasn't. I reset my password anyway on my computer and then tried again. It still said my password was wrong and said I could update my apps on the apple store (I haven't had any luck doing this). I just want my phone to recognise my password and not keep telling me that it is wrong when it isn't!

Apps bought using one AppleID cannot be changed. They are forever tied to that AppleID. You can change the email associated with the AppleID but not the AppleID itsellf.

I just did the Apple TV update and now the Remote App can't find my Apple TV. There are no lights on the Apple Tv and beyond unplugging it and replugging it in I have no clue how to fix this... help?!

Itunes store cant verify my password

im having an issue with my iphone not being able to verify my password. when ever i try to download an app, or song, i have to enter my password but i always get a message "your itunes store password was incorrect, please try again"
i always think that its me or my password, so ill double check everything on my account in itunes, sync my phone, disconnect it after the sync, have the phone prompt me for my password, ill enter it and things will work fine. only to try moments later, and the phone wont recognize my password at all.
what gives??!

so here is how i fixed it:
1 : logged into iTunes on my computer
2 : synched my phone to itunes still signed in to the iTunes store
3 : opened my itunes account on my iphone
4 : signed in using my AOL username password
5 : it then worked when i went to download apps/songs from itunes
this fixed my problem. although several weeks later apple did thier own fix and got rid of the AOL login's and forced people to re-register. thanks apple for taking care of this. now all is fine and back to normal.

ITunes 11.0.2 no longer connecting to Remote app on iPhone; claims password is incorrect or takes forever verifying.

iTunes on my mid 2011 iMac is not connecting to my iPhone 5 nor my iPad 1st gen "Remote" app. Homesharing is enabled on all devices, yet my library cannot be found. I made sure all of the devices had homesharing turned on. I tried manually adding the library, and when I entered the code displayed on my iPhone into iTunes, it either said it was incorrect or timed out in the verification process. This is really frustrating as it has worked before, and suddenly doesn't work. By the way, I have made no changes in my WiFi network or routers. Please help, thanks!

Intego's VirusBarrier X6 was blocking my iPhone's connection.
I saw that the program was blocking attempts to connect and took the address off the Blocked list. I instantly connected through everything again. It turned out to be a major oversight and easy fix!
If anyone else is having similar issues, check your AntiVandal software and make sure your devices are not being blocked.

I have been trying to get the FiOS Remote app to work, but it keeps giving me problems with the sign on. I don't think my sign on is the issue.
My signon works for ...
1. My FiOS app - in which I can pull my account information
2. the Verizon mobile website - in which I can login and see all my information
Within the My FiOS app when I try to manage my DVR, it launches the FiOS remote app. This app won't let me sign in. I constantly get the "Sign In Error" User ID or Password is invalid. Please try again."
I know this error is erroneous because of my ability to login everywhere else.
Please advise on what I can do next.

Hi, I know that app requires that you are connected to the wifi in your home and not on the iphone's 3g. If you have verified that you are on the Actiontec WiFI (not a second router's wifi) and that your login is correct at all those sites, then you might need to email the dev from the apple store. It gives you a link to email them there.

IPhone "FIOS remote" app update caused 'Invalid User Credential'

I recently updated my "FIOS remote" app on my iPhone and started getting 'Invalid User Credential' when checking my DVR in the app or the TV listings, also wasnt able to submit feedback.
TheAbout screen says I'm using "Verizon FIOS mobile remote version 3.1.56 build number 16"
I called Verizon support who helped me.
The fix: Open a browser and go to www.verizon.com/fiostv/web and logon.
Feedback in the app still doesn't work so I thought I'd post this here for others. By the way, I think a 100 character limit is too small for feedback.

IPhone won't connect to iTunes with Remote app

When I attempt to connect to my iTunes library using the Remote app on my iPhone 4 (iOS 4.2), it tells me the password is incorrect even though I'm 100% positive it is (it's only four digits, not too hard to get right). I was able to connect my iPhone to iTunes up until I installed iOS 4.2 - I think.
Anyone else having this problem?

Follow theses steps and see if it helps.
* Open Finder and look for the iTunes in Applications folder
* Move the folder and the iTunes icon to the Trash
* Open Go and type Go to Folder.
* Type /System/Library/Extensions and hit return.
* Find AppleMobileDevice.kext and move it to the Trash.
* Similarly move AppleMobileDeviceSupport.pkg file to the trash
* Restart the computer
* Reinstall iTunes and see if the iPhone is detected.

Can't use the remote app to enter itunes password on apple TV

the remote app on my iphone and ipad work really well as a remote control for my apple tv, however if I use the app to enter my Itunes password (typing it on the keyboard)it won't recognise it and I have to use the apple tv remote instead, any ideas?

Don't have an answer, but this guy http://tidbits.com/article/12126 says you can do it, but doesn't explain how. I would love to know - using YouTube on Apple TV is a complete pain cos you have to enter your search terms using the Apple Remote and it takes forever.
