IPhone replacement/upgrade? Help?

Hello, I'm not going to try to articulate this with excessive grace, as I've spent a LOT of time with customer service. Like a lot.
Ok so basically I got my iPhone 4s in November of 2012. I got my iPhone replaced in September of 2013 for speaker problems, but I have had no troubles since; until as of late. With my first paycheck (April first) , I immediately went out an bought the new  Apple Headphones. Long story short,turned out my headphone jack was broken. There is absolutely no sound, though the headphones are detected. I headed to the apple store on Sunday the 6th, where, honestly,  I expected to have my iPhone replaced. I assumed, since the phone was just about six months old, it would be under warranty. The first man I spoke to, after hearing about my issue and reviewing my case, immediately said that apple was at fault for this issue, and that they would replace my phone for me. The real genius didn't agree. After testing my phone, restoring and restarting it, he concluded that it was "very odd".  He then assessed that my phone had absolutely no damage whatsoever, so he didn't know how the jack would have broken (a flaw in the product itself). He then brought to my attention that after replacing your phone, you have only ninety days warranty. Which, awesome. Well, we shortly discussed my options; paying $199 for a replacement iPhone 4s or putting the full value of my 4s ($199) towards a 5s. I quickly decided that there was no way that I would be paying for another 4s after my repeated speaker issues. So I still have my old phone for now. Then today, my iPhone started going REALLY wacky. Whenever I play music, it plays a different song than it says it playing, when I skip a few songs flash on the screen, same with when I go back. I can't really describe the exact actions cos it's so glitchy. But basically I finally got a hold of the customer service phone line and they said they they couldn't override the Genius' diagnostic of expired warranty, but do you think there is any way I can get an upgrade/replacement for cheaper? My phone's pretty new,and I treat it so well, I don't know why this happened, and I feel it's really unfair that I should have to pay full price to replace a flawed product. 

Question:  Did you purchase AppleCare with your phone?  If so, your phone should be covered until November 2014 (based on info you provided).
If you didn't, the Limited warranty on your phone ended after 1 year.  November 2013 (based on the info you provided).
I'm not sure I understand the problem?  If you have exceeded the warranty, there is the Out of warranty replacement option.  Or, you could use an upgrade with your carrier if you are eligible.

    Audiobooks are currently a one-time only download from the store. If you don't have it on your computer (audiobooks go into the Books part of your iTunes library) nor on a backup, then if it's still in the store you can try contacting iTunes support and see if they will grant you a re-download : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page

    Your warranty is only good in the US where you bought the phone. You will need to contact Apple Support in the US to arrange to return your phone to the US for repair. You should also inquire as to whether they will be able to return the phone to you in India.

  • HELP! ...I went to the apple store to get my iPhone replaced. When I left, happy & all, I realized I did not erase the data off of the iPhone I got replaced!! Does the apple store reset those iPhones so that information isn't stolen or tampered with?

    I didn't know you were supposed to delete your information when you might get your iPhone replaced...

    First, please understand we are not Apple employees on this forum, and we are not authorized to speak for Apple.
    Having said that, here are two thoughts:
    1.  Did you sign a form when you left your old iPhone with Apple?  You might consider reading that form.  It may help.
    2.  You might consider telephoning the Apple Store and ask them about resetting your old iPhone.

    If you are trying to restore to an iCloud backup, this has to be done during the initial setup process.  If your phone is already set up, you will have to go back to Settings>General>Reset and tap Erase All Content & Settings, then go back through the setup screens again and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup (see image below).  Be sure your phone is connected to wifi and your charger as this will take some time to complete.
    Also, your replacement phone must be running the same iOS version or higher to restore to your backup.  If you are running an older version of iOS than the device that was backed up, your backup will not be visible when you choose to restore to your iCloud backup.  If this is the case, you'll have to update your replacement phone first.

    Sorry, there's no way around Activation Lock. So, give the phone back to your "friend", as you will never be able to use it.
    Apple can't/won't help you.

  • IPhone and Windows 7 Upgrade Help

    Hello im a PC user, currently have 2 computers running windows vista, and have two iphones linked to them, 1 iphone 3g and 1 iphone 3gs. The problem i have is i want to update them to windows 7, but if i do that, then it will clear my handset, as i can i only register one iphone to one pc. im not bothered about the music/videos/photos, im worried about my apps and contacts etc. Is there not like a cheeky way of copying files from the c:/ and placing them back on the c:/ when windows 7 is installed, to say trick it into thinking its still linked etc or is it likely i will have to face totally wiping my iphones. Any help would be great!

    You can actually pop an iPhone to as many computers as you want. It's all in how you do it...
    The main thing you need to keep is the iTunes library file, which is an *.itl file. Mine is stored on an external hard disc drive, and has been for quite some time, but if I remember correctly, it should be in "+C:/Documents and Settings/YOUR USERNAME/Music/iTunes+".
    If you back this file up, and all other files with the correct file structure, then when you install Windows 7, put them all back exactly where and how you found them (in other words, the same folder structure, with the same names, etc.), your phone won't realize anything happened.
    I actually have all my iPhone media stored on my external hard disc drive and jump seamlessly between my laptop (XP), my work computer (Vista Pro) and my girlfriend's computer (Vista Home Premium). My phone never seems to realize anything. I can update everything on one computer, and the changes and effects show up on the others as well. *The important file to keep is your iTunes library file.* This is what iTunes will be looking for, and what will associate your phone with your iTunes.
    Also, make sure that you deauthorize the computer, install Windows 7, then reauthorize your computer again. Not necessary, but a little easier in the long run.

    Did you already try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again?

    We took my daughters broken iphone 4 into an apple store and was told that the damage was not covered under warrany but for only £120 we could get a replacement iphone 4
    the problem being when they helped her set  up the replacement Iphone 4 they installed os7 as the opperating system rendering the phone useless as it now runs slow, freezes & cannot use messaging at all etc
    we went back to the store hoping they could HELP  &  were told that the iphone should not have these problems & to do a full restore; as it turns out the processing chip cant handle os7 which becomes Very apparent & now the store staff are suggesting that they will upgrade the phone to something newer & give us a £60 discout towards a new phone for something we paid them £120 48hr earlier.
    Its not the Apple experience we have all come to love can anyone suggest how we might restore the phone to an earlier opperating system

    Iphone 4 upgrade 5.0.1 now no internet over 3g. Wow this is soooo frustrated... died during backup with first install so downloaded update then when I installed had to restore to complete. now no internet over 3g. works fine on wi fi but app store, maps, safari text message nothing works

    I had the same problem with my iPhone 4, except mine did the exact opposite. I had to turn off wifi completely and stay on the 3g network. Luckily Verizon has unlimited data usage so it kinda solved that problem. The app store only works half the time and you can get on the internet, but you cant browse anything. The search engine works, but you cant open any pages. I dont know who your carrier is, but Verizon replaced mine under warranty with an iPhone that is still on the previous operating system. I spoke with Apple and Verizon about all the problems, and after numerous updates and restores and changing just about every setting in the phone nothing helped. The internet problem is just an awesome feature of the new iOS5!

  • IPhone 4 upgrade and restore

    I tried to do the iphone 4 upgrade on July 20, 2011 and it stuck and put my iPhone 4 in recovery mode. It says I need to restore, but when I try and restore it gets stuck during firmware part of restore and won't continue any further because of Error #9. I have tried all USB connections and tried different USB cables. I don't think anything is wrong with any of them. Help?!?!

    Well, I went to the Apple Store, and after replicating the problem, they offered me a replacement on the spot.  Great service on their part was enough to offset the hassle of going there in the first place.  Everything works well now and upon arriving home I was able to update the firmware and sync from my backup without further issue.  Hope everything goes as smoothly for you guys.  Gl

    Same here.... No fix. Replacing is the option apparently and if you're out of warranty, you're SOL. That was as per the "Genius" at Apple.
