IPhone right speaker doesn't work.

on my iPhone the right speaker at the bottom of the phone doesn't work. Is this normal or do I have a faulty phone?

Its normal. The right "speaker" isn't a speaker at all. Its a microphone.
The iPhone only has one speaker.

  • IPhone 4s - speaker doesn't work!

I have a iPhone 4s and my speaker doesn't work! someone can help to fix it?

With thousands of inquiries with similar experience reviewed on discussion boards, and after trying most of the 'fixes', I was prepared for my encounter with the nearest genius bar, 210 miles from my home. No acknowledgement of a problem with the OS, but the genius zeroed in on data corruption after performing a diagnostic exam of my iPhone 4S, finding corrupted data and a few error messages.  He was able to discuss probable causes with me that made sense and replace my iPhone with a remanufactured one which we were able to activate while in the store, restoring from iCloud.  No charge (out of warranty - no extra AppleCare). This has resulted in full return to function which has lasted 48 hours to date.  I had been on a trip to Alaska (in March) where I had plugged in headphones, repeatedly switched iPhone on and off, used Airplane mode repeatedly and updated to 6.1.2.  The iPhone was not dropped or plunged in water or snow - just subjected to normal use with some 10 degree F weather exposure episodes.  In retrospect, I would have liked a printout of the error messages the genius found while performing the diagnostic tests.  Apple still rocks for me.

my right speaker in my hp laptob doesn't work

What laptop is this? Try connecting a set of headphones into the computer to see if the issue occurs there as well.

  • Iphone external speaker doesn't work

My Iphone 3GS external speaker will not work. I have tried cleaning the headjack port many times and did not help. I have even went as far as replacing the speaker assembly itself and it still is inoperative. When I unplug the headphones, the volume goes down on the screen as if it recognizes the release of the headphones, but the speaker will not work on the phone or as an ipod. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is more specific and perhaps smaller issue than those centered on the headphone jack (probably not involved in this case). Rather than having only external audio problems, the base port/connector part of handset is central in this issue - giving the nearly constant "not made to work with iPhone" airplane mode dialog box. (Always on power up, and frequently at all times unless in the charger stand specifically.)
Although one user has claimed in several forums that he resolved it by blowing out/cleaning the charger plug, the Genius who exchanged mine indicated he thought these two problems together indicated something more than that. I was able to get another new phone within the 14 day return policy.
Don't mess around with the audio jack if you are having the airplane message AND loss of external speaker exactly as originally described here Your phone is only as good as the jacks in terms of longevity, don't wiggle and stress the connectors - take it to Apple directly for repair of this hardware problem.

I had this exact problem - but the headphone plugin/remove thing just wasn't working at all for me! So i looked into other issues that would cause it and why the headphone thing is working for some people.
The problem is hardware, inside the headphone jack there is a short that is sometimes caused by the headphones going in at funny angles. I fixed this (and I'm not suggesting you do this) was get one of my girlfriends bobby pins and push the sides of the headphone jack back from the inside (i.e. inserting the bobby pin and moving it around a bit). This has permenantly fixed the issue. So it seems that the issue is hardware and I have a perfectly working iphone again
Once again, this is not a "pretty solution" but it does work!

  • Right speaker doesn't work at all

When i get a call, type a text/email, or listen to music only my left speaker has any output.
i know this because when i cover my left speaker the sound gets low and when i cover my right speaker nothing happens. i also tried covering just the left and then the right to se if there was any noise difference but there was not. so that means there is NO sound coming out of the right speaker.

    Ansuz82,
I didn't because I was trained on the iPhone before I ever held one.
However, my son made the same mistake.

  • My speaker doesn't work. I record a video and play it back, but there is no sound. Help??

My iphone 5 speaker doesn't work. I go to record a video but there is no playback sound.

Do you have the mute switch on? Next to volume buttons - shows orange when mute is on. Other than that just making sure the volume is turned up. It should work.

  • Rear left speaker doesn't work on X-FI XtremeMu

So I bought this X-Fi xtrememusic..No doubt it works fantastically in gaming and pinpoints the source of sound really well..Well what's my problem? this POS X-Fi doesn't emit any sound from rear left speaker..my speaker isn't the issue here because I tried it with my $0 sound card and rear left speaker works FINE..how the hell $30 worth sound card can't do/perform something that even $0 sound card can do...give me a break Creative...this **bleep** is going back to the store if there is no solution to this.. I've already wasted 2 hrs of my life just trying to reinstall/uninstall newer/older version of their bloated drivers..no avail..What should I do? I'd like to keep this card as it is the best gaming sound card out there right now....
    Any one?

This is getting me pissed now. I have the Fitalty version and everything working fine at first, except for the stuttering in HF2, but now in Game mode only my Front right speaker doesn't work. I do have all the latest drivers on my system and Creative. I only lose my right front speaker in game mode, I swap to entertainment and everything works fine.
I agree with the above poster that its a driver issue, I do know creative has always lacked in that dept (decent drivers) so I have no reason to believe otherwise now.
I've tried alot of various things and sorry for not listing them all, nothing has worked yet.

  • IPhone 5 ear speaker doesn't work, so now I have to do calls on Speakerphone

I have an iPhone 5 that encountered the on/off switch problem which Apple repaired for free and also upgraded to ios 8.0.2 without asking my permission.  Yes they fixed it but returned it to someone in Penn., I live in Georgia.  Got that straightened out overnight.  Now I discover that the ear speaker doesn't work (much internet chatter about that also being a defective part) so now I have to do calls on Speakerphone.  Now I also was recently upgraded to iTunes 12 and had to take an hour out of my time to figure out how to use it again as the sidebar disappeared and NO DROP-DOWN offered a way to restore the sidebar and the iTunes website didn't seem to list any information.  I had to resort to Google to locate an answer.   I am very confused?

  • My iPhone speaker doesn't work when I play music but when I hold the button for Siri,I can hear the noise it makes. What do I do to fix this problem?

My speaker doesn't work anymore. I've putten it in rice and it worked for a day the next dayitstoped working. What can I do to fix this problem?

Contacts and Calendar entries should be synced to a supported application on the computer or a cloud service if using the device as designed.
Pictures/Videos taken with the device should be copied to the computer regularly, if using the device as designed.
All media should exist in iTunes on the computer.
All apps should exist in iTunes on the computer.
There may be some lost data from apps such as game status, but would you prefer to maintain that data or have a functional device?
If the issue turns out to be hardware, it is possible to later restore from backup to get put the device back to the same functional state once the hardware is replaced.

  • Updated to iOS 7.0.4, Now speaker doesn't work on iPhone 5s

Just updated to 7.0.4, now my speaker doesn't work. So I can't hear notifications at all, no music, nothing. Tried factory reset - nope. Good thing I just got this last week, because I'm taking it back to Verizon for a new phone, or go back to a Samsung Galaxy S4 which I had before this phone.

Did you check the position of the MUTE switch on the left side of the phone near the top? Have you checked the volume settings?

  • Right speaker is not working in my g6 1201tx.

I have a Pavillion g6 1201tx model and my right speaker is not working at all. When I switch the all balance to the right speaker, no sound comes from the laptop and shifting it to the left one or to the centre starts giving sound again. I have tried reinstalling the drivers but to no avail.I also tried removing the batteries and putting it back and running again; its not helping.
The driver installed version is: 6.10.6341.0

Not unless your Dad has a knock-off or a fake 3GS it doesn't. The first generation iPhone, the 3G, and the 3GS include a single speaker. The opposite grill that appears the same is the iPhone's microphone. If your Dad's iPhone has two speakers, where is the microphone located on his iPhone?

  • Left. Speaker doesn't work after 8.1 update

  • Right headset doesn't work after upgrading iOS

I use iPhone 4 32GB. I upgrade the iOS from 5.1.1 to 6.1.3. On the previous iOS, i don't have any problem. But after i upgrade my phone, my right headset doesn't work. I've clean the jack, plug, etc; I've tried to change the sound settings, music setting, etc, but it doesn't change anything. My headset still mute, exactly the right side. The left one is still okay. I've tried to plug another jack and nothing change. Anybody help :'(

If you've made sure it's clear of any debris/dust, tried using a different pair of headphones and it still didn't work, I would contact Apple with the hardware issue and find out what your replacement options are.  It might be conincidental, but a software update shouldn't change the jack on the phone because that is hardware.
