IPhone saves a landscape movie rotated?

I shot a movie on my iPhone 5 (IOS 8.3) in normal landscape fashion, but it insists on showing it in portrait mode; when I look at it on my Mac it's also rotated 90 degrees. I have to hold my iPhone (and my head!) sideways to see it full-screen.
I've not had this happen before. Is there any way I can force it to be in the correct orientation on the phone? Prevent it from happening again?

Hi Lawrence,
Restarting the phone does temporarily resolve the issue... so I believe that this is a software issue, rather than a physical issue.
Kind regards,
Craig

  • IPhone 6 plus won't rotate to landscape - small lock with circle around it

    I have an iPhone 6 plus - and I have an small icon that is a padlock with a circle around it - how do I unlock the screen orientation lock?

    Can I assume that when the iPhone Screen is rotated to Landscape, and the display adjusts appropriately, users are then Swiping Up from the Bottom [now Long edge], then hitting the Lock-Unlock Icon, and the iPhone is Locked into Landscape?
    If I do, as described, the Swiped Up Control Centre covers the entire screen.
    When I hit the Lock-Unlock Icon a blurred image of the Display can be seen Rotating back to Portrait View.
    I am being very careful to ensure that the iPhone remains horizontal during the above action.
    To Close the Control Centre I have to Swipe it Downward form the Top [now Long Edge].
    Now being forced to revert to using Portrait View I Swipe Up for the Bottom [now Short Edge].
    When the Lock-Unlock Icon is hit a Message pops up saying the Portrait View has been Unlocked.
    Clearly these actions are not producing the results expected in my case.
    I would appreciate being able to use the iPhone Locked in Landscape View because of the need to view Bus Timetables very frequently.
    Any suggestions as to what I may be doing wrong, or actions toward resolution will be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers,
    FG

  • IPhone 4g doesn't go to landscape when rotated. There is lock indicator on home screen when swiped to the left.

    iPhone doesn't switch to landscape when rotated. There is no lock indicator on home screen when swiped to the left.

    It was locked. I unlocked it.

  • My iPhone 6 will not auto rotate after installation of version 8.0.2. The auto rotate lock is off in settings and in the Kindle app, but nothing will go to landscape.

    Since the installation of 8.0.2 my iPhone 6 will not auto rotate in any app. I have locked/unlocked the feature in settings several times using the command bar but to no avail. I read using the Kindle app and it also is locked in portrait whether the lock is on or off.

    Actually, the OP tried that (six months ago) and it didn't work. They resolved the issue (six months ago) by updating their system software (six months ago).

  • How do I save a home movie to MacBook Air

    How do I save a home movie from DVD to my MacBook Air. I have just downloaded the latest IOS 8.1 but have not installed ant apps for movies. I do have a couple of videos already saved.

    Hi ..
    iOS 8.1 is the operating system for iPhones and iPads, not OS X for your Mac. Apps that run on iOS devices cannot run on our Mac and vice versa.
    Since the MB Air does not have a DVD drive, in order to import the movie from the disc, you will need an external drive.

  • IPhone 4s pictures won't rotate after being transferred to the computer?

    The majority of pictures I take right-side-up still transfer to my computer in landscape mode. Sure this was annoying, but in the past I could easily fix it by simply selecting them all and telling the computer to rotate them clockwise. However, now I am unable to rotate any picture I transfer from my device to my computer harddrive. Upon copying and pasting them to my computer, it still brings them in, in landscape mode (rotated 90 degrees to the left to be precise). However, when I try to rotate them I get the error message "you cannot rotate this image. The file might be in use or open in another program, or the file or folder might be read-only." I have double checked for a fact that none of these images are read-only, and I have even tried restarting my computer then rotating the images with no other application open....
    Also, when I try opening up Windows photo viewer and doing them one by one...upon pushing the rotate button it appears to work. The picture rotates. But if I click next or try to close the window and have it save I get the message, "Windows Photo Viewer cannot save the changes to this picture because there's a problem with the picture's file properties."
    Any idea what might be going on or how I can fix this? Thank you in advance for anyone who can offer me any assistance in this matter. Your time is greatly appreciated.

    Camera orientation information is contained in EXIF metadata which some software still ignores.
    You have an EXIF problem, as well as a file and folder permissions problem, which is a separate issue.
    Apple and Adobe, along with many others, are following the EXIF metadata policy of all the major camera manufacturers.

  • Landscape lock rotation

    How do I enable "Lancscape View" as my default please?
    I want my iphone 4s to show Landscape view virtually all the time. How can I do this?
    I have trawled the web to find the answers.. seems like the iPhone is set to default to portrait mode which is not what I want.
    I need to hold my iPhone 4s and use both my thumbs and view in landscape nearly all the time almost like a gameboy works (I have a case designed so I can hold it this way). Of course some applications auto rotate, like Safari, however, apps and the phone will not rotate to landscape.
    The only solution I can see on the web looks like it is not kosher?? (Landscape Lock Rotation by Cydia)... this app looks like the ideal solution for me, however I do NOT want to jailbreak my phone or have to do anything complex or dodgy... there are no "legal" apps in the app store that offer this. So the only thing I have found is this Cydia app as above.
    Any suggestions or help would be really appreciated, as it is mega important that I can open my iPhone showing all the display nearly all the time in LANDSCAPE view as I need to hold it sideways virtually all the time.

    So if you have iOS 7, flick up from the bottom of any home screen or App.  You should see a summary of the settings area, the Control Center.  The top right button should be the Potrait lock icon.  If it is white, you are locked in portrait mode and can tap it again to exit the Portrait lock.  If it's black/grayed out, then I'm probably kind of full of it

  • IPhone keyboard in Landscape Mode

    Hey,
    Is any one else having the same issue ? Any solution is appreciated. When I use my iPhone keyboard in landscape mode (application - gmail) some of the letters in the keyboard don't pop-up. The keyboard inputs the letters in the mail however the on-screen prompt for a key being pressed (letters jumping up) does not happen. It happens for different letters each time. I have seen 'q' key do that .... r some times etc. It is not just the first row of letters too. I have seen other letters.
    I reset the phone, restored it and even got a warranty exchange. I still have this issue. Any ideas ?

  • Can one DISBALE "Save as Source/Movie" for a Quicktime file on the Web ?

    I recently learned how to assign quicktime files to links on the web.
    When you select a link, a new window opens up and the sound file begins to play automatically.
    I noticed that the listener can save this file to their desktop.
    IS IT POSSIBLE TO PROTECT SOUND FILE SO THEY CAN NOT BE SAVED TO A DESKTOP ?
    In other words, can one have a quicktime file without the "Save as Source" or "Save as Quicktime Movie" active, but greyed out instead ?
    Thank You,

    The html tag to do this is:
    object tag
    param name="kisokmode" value ="true"
    The embed tag
    kisokmode="true"
    This will remove the disclosure triangle (lower
    right) to save and also prevent Control-click
    (right-click on a PC).
    A better way is to use existing AppleScripts to make
    a copy of your file "Un-Editable" (the name of the
    AppleScript Droplet).
    To "test" the exploit try and save or edit one of my
    files:
    http://homepage.mac.com/kkirkster/64
    The page should load with a "poster.mov" file and the
    link to the href file isn't invoked until the viewer
    "clicks" on the poster movie.
    Once the href linked file opens even owners of QT Pro
    are prevented from "saving" the file.
    You'll need to save your .mp3 files inside a .mov
    "wrapper". They will still work as intended inside
    your html code with the .mov file extension.

    w do I save a web movie onto my hard drive with qt pro

    Let the file completely download.
    Depending on the play controller you'll either see a downward pointing arrow at the right end (click it to save a copy) or no downward pointing arrow (in which case you right click on the player window).

  • How can I get my iPhone out of landscape mode and back to portrait?

    How can I get my iPhone out of landscape mode and back to portrait? Tilting the phone doesn't work.

    Try following - 1 by 1:-
    * make sure portrait lock is not on & try turning on/off several times
    * turn off mobile and turned it back on
    * hard reset by pressing lock and home at same time
    If problem persist, you need to try following but be careful since the following impact your iphone.
    * resetting all setting: this will reset all settings of your iphone back to factory setting
    * resetting all setting by erasing all data: this will reset all setting and erase all data so do back-up and proper syncing and read relevant details
    * restoring from itunes: this will also erase all data and take mobile back to day 1
    last 3 options are last resort and only be done if you are sure you can restore your data.
    Please don't hold me responsible for any data loss while doing last 3 options

  • The iPhone 5 in landscape mode is a tablet for the Fluid Grid layout

    Hi all,
    I created a "fluid" layout for a site and realized that the iPhone 5, in landscape mode, is > 480 pixels, so the "tablet" layout is applied.
    Have you encountered this issue as well? How to solve it? I thought I might modify the CSS media query and define the tablet as > 536 but maybe some-one has a more elegant solution?
    And, in general, when is a phone really a tablet?
    Bootstrap from Twitter suggests four types of widths.
    /* Large desktop */
    @media (min-width: 1200px) { ... }
    /* Portrait tablet to landscape and desktop */
    @media (min-width: 768px) and (max-width: 979px) { ... }
    /* Landscape phone to portrait tablet */
    @media (max-width: 767px) { ... }
    /* Landscape phones and down */
    @media (max-width: 480px) { ... }
    In this framework (which is very similar to DW's fluid grid: it has a class called "clearfix" which suggests me something), under 768 it's still a phone... Is IT? What do you think?

    Smartphones are getting bigger.  Tablets are getting smaller.  So there's bound to be some overlap between devices.  I just don't see this as a problem.   Nor should you.
