iphone says messages is taking up 6GB of storage, even after I deleted all my messages. What is wrong? This is preventing me from downloading the most recent iOS, not to mention numerous other things. Thanks for any help! I am at a loss of what to do.
For that much storage being taken up the only thing that can be done as of now is back the device up in iTunes and restore the iphone. The restore will also update the phone.

You have been using an iPhone since 2011 with an iCloud ID that is not yours, how do you explain that?
I saw a message that said your phone was lost and erased, and I was asked to activate my iPhone with my Apple ID.
Since you know it was lost but not by you, you have an iPhone that is not legitimate. Your receipt may get you out of trouble with the police but that doesn't make the iPhone yours.
Activation Lock cannot be bypassed and if the your story is true then you should sort it out with Best.

ICloud email says 4.3Gb used even after i deleted all my emails
I´ve been using iCloud email for some time so i managed to use 4.3gb of storage. I have deleted all my emails, emptied the trash, checked all the folders, spam, sent, inbox, folders, etc. There are 0 emails in my icloud email account. But i still get 4.3Gb used in my iPhone and iPad. It has been at least a month since i deleted all my emails and i still get 4.3Gb used in mail.
I´ve also uploaded a Gmail backup into my iCloud account to make sure i use more than 4.3Gb of space to see if it changed. Im now using 6.8Gb in my iCloud email but still get the 4.3Gb used.
Any thoughts?If you deleted them they would have been moved to the trash, which by default is not deleted for 30 days. If you want to delete the emails from the trash right away, go to icloud.com on your computer, log into your iCloud account, click on Mail, click on the Actios (gear shaped) icon on the upper right, then select Empty Trash.

My iphone 4 has no data storage. I have deleted all apps, music and texts and it still says I only have 1.9 GB available. There is nothing in my storage.
The problem could be that you don't have enough storage on the device itself, not on iCloud. Go to Settings>General>Usage to see how much "Storage" you have available on the device. Farther down the list is the available storage on iCloud.
Also check:
Go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backups>Manage Storage; there, tap the device you need info on and the resulting screen lists Backup Options with which apps store data on iCloud as well. Tap Show All Apps to get the complete list of apps and MB used for backup storage.
A device needs many MB of storage in order to perform a backup to iCloud.

I have my Dad's apple ID etc, but he has an iphone and i have an Ipod Touch then on IMessage i can read all the messages he recieves and sends and he can read all the messages i send and recieve how do i stop this? But i still want to send messages to him.
Thank You. You do not need a seperate Apple ID. One one device you just need to go to Settings>Messages and add another/different Messaging email address and delete the common Apple ID address. Also see:

Not supported for good reasons.
If the account is an IMAP account, delete the messages from the account's Inbox mailbox with the email client used on your computer for accessing the account, or transfer the messages from the account's Inbox to a user created mailbox stored locally on your computer's hard drive which will remove the messages from the server. All server stored mailboxes with an IMAP account are kept synchronized with the server with each email client used to access the account.
If the account is a POP account, delete the messages from the server with the email client used on your computer for accessing the account, or via webmail access for the account. Follow this by deleting and recreating the account on your iPhone. -
ever since iOS 7 was installed on my phone it keeps fetching all and any e-mail from my server and it is taking up tp as much as 2.5 GB even after I delete the messages! Now after a complete wipe and restore it is happening all over again why can't the techs at apple fix this defective program??????????????

I deleted all my messages, yet in my usage it still says saved messages? How do I permanently delete them to free up space? Thanks!
If you've already deleted your messages and it's saying this, that means you have corrupted data.
Sync your contacts & calendars to iCloud, copy your photos to your computer, and then restore the phone & set it up as new (don't restore your backup). Thats' teh only way to get rid of this. -
I upgraded my iphone to 5.0.1 and ever since, it has decided to delete old text messages. Only with one contact though, not everybody. So for every new text message I send this person, an old one gets removed. Why? I don't want this to happen.
Connect the phone directly to the computer, not a hub.
Disconnect all other USB devices except keyboard and mouse.
Disable your firewall
Disable your antivirus
In iTunes if it recognizes the phone click "Restore"
If it doesn't recognize the phone:
Disconnect the phone from the phone end, leave the USB cable plugged into the computer
Hold the HOME and SLEEP buttons until the screen turns black, excactly 10 seconds, then release the SLEEP but continue holding the HOME (If an Apple logo appears you have held SLEEP too long; do it over)
While holding HOME connect the cable to the phone
As soon as iTunes recognizes the phone release the HOME button and it should restore.
If neither procedure works note the exact error message and post it. -

There is no way possible for your iphone to delete message by itself.
If your having issue with text - contact your cell phone provider as texting is a carrier feature.

I would guess it is that you do not have enough space. For what, I have no idea, as you have done little to explain your issue.

My iPhone says that I don't have enough storage to update one of my apps so I went to delete stuff that I didn't need but every time I select what I want to delete my phone freezes, goes back to the home screen and doesn't delete anything.
First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

What size ??GB is the download file? How much free storage space do you have?
The ??GB is the download file compressed size (like .zip or .dmg). When the file is installed/uncompressed it can be 2-3 times larger.
How much space is your Other using? You may be able to reduce.

Hi, I want to animate the opening of my Dialogs by a dotted line starting from one edge of the main frame and finally leading to the dialog. I've put the code into the setVisible method of the Dialog. It adds small canvases to the main frame's panel,
