IPhone says "Unknown error has occurred" when getting an app or update.
What should I do?
I also have this problem. I am thinking i am going to call customer support about this tomorrow. If i get it fixed i will post on here.

Ok I'm getting mad!!! I have spoke to 3 apple techs and they keep telling me it's something on their end... If so wouldn't you think they would fix it so I can buy apps? My itunes works fine and shows my credit.. So Please someone who knows this issue and knows how to fix it... Please help me, or I'm going to get rid this anchor weight..

How long ago did you speak to the techs? Have you given them (meaning Apple) enough time to rectify this issue? If not, chill out. If so, then we can't help you here. We are just users like you....

If that doesn't help, drag the App Store icon straight up off your Dock so it goes, "poof".
Now drag the App Store icon from your Applications folder to the Dock. Try updating your apps. -

Please Help!!I had the exact same problem. Worked fine for a couple days then suddenly getting this error. I fixed it, however.
Do this:
Open the App Store app on your phone.
Go to the "Featured" section.
Scroll to the very bottom of the page and click on your Apple ID.
Screen pops up. Choose "Sign out".
Scroll to the bottom of the "Featured" section again.
Sign back in.
Try your download again.

Well done getting the wireless network secured.
You have to precede the (hex) password with a '$' in Mac OS, to tell the Internet Connect dialog box that you are keying a hex password (rather than ASCII). This is because the Mac has detected that the network is WEP protected, and leaves it to you to decide how you want to key the password.
As an alternative, in Internet Connect (or from the AirPort icon menu), you can elect to join an "Other" network. If you select your network again, it'll come up with "WEP Password" as the option of Wireless Security. You can change this to "WEP 40/128-bit hex" and then not have to precede your password with the '$'.
Alternatively, you could tell us the make and model of your wireless router and we can tell you how to set, and use an ASCII password. From your 10-character hex password, we can see that you're using 40/64-bit WEP. Non-Apple routers can be a bit fussy when using ASCII passwords with 40-bit WEP (don't worry, this is also true for Windows PC's using 40-bit WEP too), but we can talk you through it.
As a final alternative, as you have such a whizzy Mac, as long as your wireless router supports it, you could use WPA security, and never have to worry about ASCII / hex / '$', etc. Older Macs (particularly original AirPort cards - not AirPort Extreme - and OS9) were limited to 40-bit WEP. -
Please help.... cannot get into the ITUNES account. It says unknown error has occured. Is there a problem with ITunes?
Same thing happened with my iPhone 4S - no one is any help. Thanks Apple for such a crappy update! I've called Apple, they say the SIM card needs replacing, I go to my service provider they tell me nothing wrong with the SIM card - provider tells me I now need a new phone. Sheesh! If someone has a solution to this it would be greatly appreciated.

Installing the OS X Lion Update 10.7.3 (Client Combo) reinstalls the App Store for you which may help. Restart your Mac after the combo is installed.
It's ok to do this even though you are already running v10.7.3.
If that doesn't help, if you have anti virus software installed, disable that.
If you have an app called LIttle Snitch installed, that can prevent apps from updating. -

Go to Solution.When the camera is connected to an Apple Macintosh computer, a prompt appears that says an update is available for the PMB Portable software. Selecting to update the software later causes the application to not respond and display the unknown error has occurred message. The PMB Portable update is required to make it work with the computer.
Follow the steps below to resolve this issue.
IMPORTANT:
The computer must be connected to the Internet to complete the steps in this solution.
For the MHS-CM5 and MHS-PM5 bloggie cameras it is necessary to download and install a firmware update before installing the PMB Portable update. The firmware update is only required when installing the PMB Portable update and is available from the same page.
Select the option to Update Nowin the PMB Portable window.
Download and save the PMB Portable update PMBPMAC12_Upgrade1004a.dmgfor Mac.
After completely downloading the update, close the PMB Portable window. Make sure the application is closed by removing or ejecting the UNTITLED or NO NAME icon on the desktop. However, leave the PMBPORTABLE icon.
Close any other unnecessary applications that may be running on the computer.
Open the PMBPORTABLE icon on the desktop.
Drag the PMBP_Win.exefile to the trash.
NOTE: If PMBP_Win.exe file is locked and cannot be moved, unlock it by doing the following:
Select the file.
In the drop-down list, click Get Info.
In the General section, next to Locked, click to remove the check mark.
Empty the Trash to completely remove the PMB_Win.exefile.
Run the PMBPMAC12_Upgrade1004a.dmgto install the latest update.
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation process. -

Every time I try to download iBooks from AppStore it give me a unknown Error when it starts to load. Has any one else ever had this problem and any way to fix this.

Per other suggestions on this forum I tried hooking up to the laptop (already had latest iTunes loaded before my iPad2 came), iTunes started up, went to Apple iStore, login, confirm payment, try to download 'iBooks' it says I already have it. Look at the iPad and it's there.
This fix took all of 3-minutes and all is good. Now to learn to move things around. Newbie here Thanks to the forum for tips on things to try. I need to go back through documentation to see why I had such a problem. Not exactly plug-n-play, but then again, I fighting the urge to 'right-click'. Love the iPad2 so far. My first Apple-anything. -

I have just got an iphone 5c. However i'm having trouble with my itunes on my laptop.
I'm getting 2 error messages:
Error message 1 is ( an unknown error occured 42032 ) this happens every time i open itunes.
Error message 2 is ( itunes cannot connect to this iphone, an unknown error has occured ) this happens every time i try to connect my new phone.
I am running the latest itunes version on windows 7.
So far i've tried uninstalling all components and reinstalling them to no avail.
I've spent 3 hours today on the phone to both Apple and Microsoft with both blaming each other.
Please someone help.

urgh... just noticed my previous post said i have mountain lion... i meant that i have snow leopard. no idea why i messed that up!
anyway, i just tried reinstalling snow leopard from the usb key that came with the computer. Then, I installed software updates until it told me there were no more updates. After that, I tried the app store again, and it still is giving me the unknown error. really irked by that. may have to take it back to the apple store yet again, to see if i can figure out why the app store won't work.
