Iphone Screen Blank

I was using my Iphone and the screen went black. It looks like it died. I have plugged it back into my computer and all of the information is intact but the screen wiil not come back. I have pushed every button on this thing but it will not come back on any suggestions.

Actually, after a bit of searching I found the tip to hold down the screen and home buttons for 8 seconds. It reset fine.
I'd previously only been aware of the soft reset ie holding screen for 4 seconds - which was no use when you can't see the bar to slide. There's an awful lot of little iTips that aren't very well documented.
Anyway, all easily sorted. My love affair with my new iPhone can continue.

Not sure if this helps you, but I had the same issue. I inadvertently must have chosen a filter instead of none. Once I went and fixed this, my pictures were in my roll and I could see them. Hope this helps. I think you should be able to pick a filter and take a picture, but it worked for my phone.

I went to the camera app from the lock screen and the app seemed to freeze, so I pressed the home button. The screen went blank and now won't turn on. Oddly, when I plugged it into iTunes on the computer, I was able to sync, and I can get Siri by holding the home button. Also the phone will ring if called, but I cannot answer it. Please help.

Dropped iphone, screen blank, Applecare question

I recently dropped my iphone (with a pretty thick case) onto the ground. I was very surprised to see that my entire screen besides the very top is completely white with colored vertical stripes going from the top and the bottom. I have dropped the phone before with no problems, and this was like two feet from the ground. Now the phone works completely excepts obviously I can't use ANY of the extra features because of this problem unless I memorize where all the buttons are (I've been getting quite used to it actually). There is no external damage whatsoever...No cracks or bumps anywhere. It all happened from the inside (I assume a chip or something bumped out of place).
Will Applecare cover this? I worry they might not as I've had terrible experience with them in the past over the battery on my laptop.

Hmmm... Since there is no external evidence of me dropping it, do you think Apple might consider that this just somehow mysteriously 'happened'? I mean this was an extremelly small fall that shouldn't have completely messed up the phone.

have you tried charging the device ?
if so and it still does not work you can try a Forced Recovery..
by holding the HOME button down and plugging it into your computer at the same time..

How to set the Home screen blank in Iphone.

I use iTunes to arrange icons in my Iphone Screen, i arranged it with 4 screens , ist blank, 2nd to 4th with some apps icon. When i sync , the blank home screen is occupied by 2nd and 3rd by 4th and 4th is set as 3rd. So how can i set by Home screen blank with only default Iphone apps at bottom.

When I tap on my Safari app. the iphone screen goes to a black blank screen. It has some stuff at the top like verizon 3g the time battery life. Whats wrong with it? Thats the only sceen doing it.

My iPhone screen keeps going blank. If I reset the phone, it comes back on but after a while, it goes blank again. I don't know what to do?

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

Hi! my iphone screen suddenly went blank that i cant see anything. I tried charging the phone and it's not charging at all. I also tried plugging into my PC however the phone became soo hot that I had to unplugged it. Any suggestions?

IPhone Screen Goes Blank

While making a phone call, when I take the phone away from my ear, the screen goes blank and I cannot end call or see call waiting - finally the screen comes back to slide to unlock, and the phone call is ended.
Anyone else having this issue? Any fixes?

WOW! So that's what the issue is!
Petshows, since getting my 3G last Friday I've been plagued by the same problem. It's been so chronic I suspected a fault in the iPhone itself. My first gen unit never exhibited this behavior so I was on my way to the Apple Store tomorrow to report it to the techs at the Genius Bar. But...
...I'm now convinced that Nathan C. has identified the source of the problem. I use a DLO brand "Jam Jacket" I bought for my original iPhone. It has little cut outs at the top for the position of the proximity sensor and the earpiece. I now suspect that either the 3G proximity sensor is less sensitive or its position is slightly different from the first model and it isn't aligning properly any more.
To test out Nathan C.'s hypothesis, I made a call long enough for the 3G screen to go dark. Lifting it away from my ear, I verified that it was not waking up as it should. I then flexed the upper part of the Jam Jacket's case to reposition the proximity sensor cut out and VOILA! the iPhone screen wakes and I can press the Hang Up button as usual. Now my only issue is whether to modify the cut outs and continue using this case or buy one that avoids the source of the problem.

That screen means it has gone into recovery mode. You need to connect to a computer running iTunes by following the instructions in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808 for the procedure of recovery mode connection.

Blank iphone Screen

Tonight the screen on my iphone went blank. I still receive txts or calls, but without the screen, I can't do anything.
I've tried downloading the new update, but it seems to have gotten stuck inthe backup phase.
Im not sure what happened, as I was charging my phone...Everything seemed fine..and when I went to pick it up to use it, the screen was completely black.
I've tried holding down the power button...unplugging and plugging it back into the power source, but nothing.
Any suggestions

okay so crisis averted? the download finally completed and my phone came back to life.

Before you do a factory default reset, try just resetting the phone. Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down until the Apple logo appears on the screen and wait for phone to restart itself.
If this doesn't help, you will need to turn on iTunes on your computer. Connect your phone using the sync cable. Select the phone in iTunes on the left hand navigation panel. On the phone's summary page in iTunes click the Restore button and wait for the phone to restore itself. If iTunes asks if you want to restore from a backup say no. Or you will be right back to where you were.
You will have to re-load all your apps and music. If you have any pictures that you want to save, see if you can connect the phone to your computer without iTunes running. Then in your computer browser (Not sure if you are on Windows or Mac) see if you can find your phone. If so, open it up like a drive, open the folder that contains your pictures and drag them to a folder on your computer.
By not restoring from a backup you lose everything and really do get back to factory settings. Which means starting from scratch.

Imported iphone movies blank

Hello everyone
For the first time I've tried to edit movies created on my iphone in imovie, I have coped to desktop, they open in QT and play with out issues, o I thought why not edit and clean them up in iMovie,
Great they import correctly, now when I play thme in iMovie the appear as a big black screen, blank, the sound is there.
Hmm
So i connected my iphone and used the import facility through imovie and again same issue.
Is it really that hard am i missing something here?

I have exactly the same problem in iMovie 09. I imported about 10 clips and all went well and they all function correctly. I messed up one of them, so deleted it and imported it again, only this time there is only sound and a blank screen. I can't understand why. Anyone know the answer to this problem?
