I have the same problem: no notifications from whatsapp. This morning I did a hard reset. It didn't work. I've restored my iphone (4) and I have restored only the contacts and calendar data (I cant lost it). Then I have reinstalled the app. It still doesn't work.
It only works if I have the screen active. Passing two minutes from the phone blocking, the connection in whatsapp get lost and I can't get any notification. When I unblock my phone and open the application once again, it gets connected and then all the messages are retrieved.

Troubleshooting steps are:
TROUBLESHOOTING
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears then let go.
Backup, reset, restore on icloud or iTunes or restore as new.
Place the phone into recovery mode by doing this
If this fails to fix the problem make an appointment and visit and Apple store or an authorised service provider

IPhone screen freezing

Can anybody help me out??!! 3 times today my iPhone screen has frozen. I cannot push any button the the screen, nor can I shut my phone off. The whole thing freezes until it suddenly comes back to life. It was frozen at one point for almost an hour. The clock and everything stops on it. Any suggestions or is this a problem that I need to bring in for repair?

Mine was doing the same thing. Here's the story. I bought an iphone day they released. 4 days ago I jumped in my pool and guess what! My iphone was in my pocket. Dead as a doornail. So I buy a new one. I bring it home and activate it and within an hour the thing starts freezing up on me. Same deal. I just have to let it sit there sometimes until it comes back up. Sometimes I could get it to reboot, but sometimes not. So, this morning I go to the AT&T store where I bought it. I want an exchange and they tell me "No, you have to send it to Apple." Anyhow, after cursing AT&T I called Apple. I was told to do a software restore in ITunes. Since doing that around 9am this morning I've not had a freeze all day. Hope that works, and hope it works for you too!

IPhone Screen Freezes

Just the other day my iPhone(original) screen freezes. Nothing will happen when I try the slider. I can't even shut it down. I have tried plugging it in to charge hoping that will unfreeze it but it doesn't. The only thing that seems to work it by banging the back of it in my palm anywhere from 1 to numerous times until it finally unfreezes.

Multi-Gesture Screen Freezes with IOS 8.1

Random screen freezes and crashes are still occurring on my iPad Air when using the Multi-Gestures feature, after installing IOS 8.1. This problem started with IOS 8.0, continued with IOS 8.02, and is still present in IOS 8.1. Apple, please fix this! Having to reboot multiple times a day is very annoying. Turning the Multi-Gesture feature off obviously stops the problem but is not a real solution. If a feature is present, it needs to work right.

HHe's. A simple visit to Settings, disabling and then immediately re-enabling the feature fixes the issue. But just for a while.
APPLE: Do you hear us? This should be a VERY easy issue to resolve. It's pervasive, well documented, and utterly annoying and frustrating. Please issue a fix ASAP.

Lagging and Screen Freezing After iOS 4 Update

Hey all. I have the iPhone 3GS and ever since I updated the software to iOS 4, my iPhone has been lagging and freezing. The lag is significant. For example, I'll start typing something using the keyboard and the letters won't show up for another 5 seconds after I have tapped them (sometimes even longer, like 15 seconds because the screen temporarily freezes). My phone has also frozen before. Today, it froze for the third time in about a month. Last night, while charging and while I was watching videos on YouTube, the screen froze completely and I was unable to lock the screen, go Home, or turn off the phone to restart it. I had to unplug it from its charger and let the battery burn out. Has anyone else had the same problem? How do I fix it? Should I take it to an AT&T store or Apple Store? I would really appreciate your help. Thank you.

I also have the iPhone 3G and since I updated the software to IS0 4, my iPhone has also been lagging but not freezing as in your case. I agree that the lag is significant as it wasn't before the update. When I press the home to slide to open the phone and enter my pin number it takes about an extra 5 to 15 secs for the 4 satrs to show up and then another 10 sec for it to go to the home screen. When sending SMS it takes about the same time as you are experiencing with the 5 seconds gap between typing and seeing it on the screen and the send bar only appears as it gets to end of sending the message so never too sure if it is being sent or not until the bar appears at the last 5 secs at end of sending. It also lags when you open a SMS takes about another 10 - 15 secs before it opens nd the list just goes on. Not sure if other users are having the same problems or if APPLE are aware since the iOS 4 update of these issues. If anyone knows how to get in touch with APPLE to make them aware of these problems and that a fix is needed can you let us know? Thank you!!!

try a reset you won't lose any data. hold down the home/power button together until you see the apple logo and then release. wait for the phone to boot back up - see if that helps.

OK--it sounds like your real priority is to make a good backup. You can get a firewire external hard drive and create an exact clone of your internal hard drive using a utility like Super Duper. You want to do this as soon as possible, just so you do have a backup if the freezing problem suddenly gets worse and your computer becomes unusable.
Something else you can do. Go to Disk Utility and click on your hard drive by brand name and go to the First Aid tab. Verify both permissions and the disk, and repair if necessary. If the disk needs repair, then you will need to boot from your install disc and navigate to the Disk Utility on it to repair the disk. Also check to see that the S.M.A.R.T status is verified.
This is just a general maintenance thing to do. I don't know if it will help, but it could, and it certainly won't hurt anything. Sometimes things don't work properly if permissions need to be repaired.

A safe boot will disable some functions. If the freezing problem is not there with a safe boot, then the cause of the freezing could be in one of the functions that was disabled.
