IPhone screen frozen blank

My iPhone froze and I can't see anything. Not even the apple logo. It's just blank!
Pl help!

Whats wall charger? the 1 that plugs in the socket?
The phone is blank... but the screen is still on. Like On, not showing anything, frozen but the display is working. Take it in a dark room and u could see the display is on. I tried but it didnt work. The sleep/ and home button tech did not work. And when i connect with my computer, it doesnt recogonise the devise! Help!

Before you do a factory default reset, try just resetting the phone. Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down until the Apple logo appears on the screen and wait for phone to restart itself.
If this doesn't help, you will need to turn on iTunes on your computer. Connect your phone using the sync cable. Select the phone in iTunes on the left hand navigation panel. On the phone's summary page in iTunes click the Restore button and wait for the phone to restore itself. If iTunes asks if you want to restore from a backup say no. Or you will be right back to where you were.
You will have to re-load all your apps and music. If you have any pictures that you want to save, see if you can connect the phone to your computer without iTunes running. Then in your computer browser (Not sure if you are on Windows or Mac) see if you can find your phone. If so, open it up like a drive, open the folder that contains your pictures and drag them to a folder on your computer.
By not restoring from a backup you lose everything and really do get back to factory settings. Which means starting from scratch.

my iphone is technically on yet the screen is blank, I cannot get it to turn on even using the switch at the top. I cannot answer any calls and when the screen does magically turn on it is stuck and nothing I do is working to unlock the screen or do a manual shut down. Can anyone help me. oh and yes the phone is almost fully charged

I recommend a backup, and then do a restore. ( all with iTunes). The iTunes detects the iPhone?

While making a phone call, when I take the phone away from my ear, the screen goes blank and I cannot end call or see call waiting - finally the screen comes back to slide to unlock, and the phone call is ended.

WOW! So that's what the issue is!
Petshows, since getting my 3G last Friday I've been plagued by the same problem. It's been so chronic I suspected a fault in the iPhone itself. My first gen unit never exhibited this behavior so I was on my way to the Apple Store tomorrow to report it to the techs at the Genius Bar. But...
...I'm now convinced that Nathan C. has identified the source of the problem. I use a DLO brand "Jam Jacket" I bought for my original iPhone. It has little cut outs at the top for the position of the proximity sensor and the earpiece. I now suspect that either the 3G proximity sensor is less sensitive or its position is slightly different from the first model and it isn't aligning properly any more.
To test out Nathan C.'s hypothesis, I made a call long enough for the 3G screen to go dark. Lifting it away from my ear, I verified that it was not waking up as it should. I then flexed the upper part of the Jam Jacket's case to reposition the proximity sensor cut out and VOILA! the iPhone screen wakes and I can press the Hang Up button as usual. Now my only issue is whether to modify the cut outs and continue using this case or buy one that avoids the source of the problem.

the easiest thing i know is to restore it in itunes and if that doesnt work ask someone at the apple store to see if they can fix it

Sorry to hear that. There have been various reports of this on this forum over the past few weeks. Unfortunately, there's nothing to be done about it except return under the warranty for a replacement.

Iphone screen went blank. not responding to shutting down.

When I try to phone off screen goes blank. then when I hit the on botton it comes back as a white screen.

Try a reset, which is done by pressing and holding the home button and the sleep/wake or on/off button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo and then release - ignoring the slide to turn off prompt when doing so.

HT1430 iphone screen goes blank

Has anyone run into the issue where they phone is working one minute and then the screen goes blank for hours. I try resetting and even restoring via iTunes. Oddly enough it has come back on twice but again then has the same issue.
There doesnt to be many other options out there at this point and open to all suggestion, thanks!

IPhone screen frozen with the "restore" logo on it

I can not get my computer to reconize the iPhone anymore.
My phone is stuck on the "restore" screen and iTunes won't reconize it. I've tried reinstalling iTunes, rebooting the computer, holding down the power and home keys for 10 seconds .. nothing.
Is there any way to "cancel" a restore on the iphone?

Hello, Mayhem300. I am sorry to see the inconvenience you are experiencing today.
What image are you seeing exactly?
An Apple Logo?
A USB cord with an iTunes Logo?
A connect to iTunes message?
If iTunes is not seeing your iPhone to complete the restore try a couple of the steps below. Sadly there is no way to stop the restore process as it seems like it already initiated and needs to finish.
1. While iPhone is connected to the PC/Mac.... Hold down the Home Button, and Sleep/Wake Button.
Do not let go to you either see a Yellow Yield Sign, or a USB Icon saying connect to iTunes. After this iTunes should see it. And inform you it detected an iPhone needing a restore.
Proceed with this. At this time all Data on iPhone will be lost. If your restoring on the original PC/Mac you will have an option to restore from backup file. and or Re-sync your content from your PC/Mac back to the iPhone.
If this fails. Repeat the steps with a different USB Port, or a New user, or even another PC/Mac

Try resetting your iPhone by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.

Screen remains blank after call/voicemail

Like it should, my iPhone screen goes blank when I am speaking on the phone and when I am listening to a voicemail. However, about 75% of the time, my screen does not reappear after the phone call has been completed or after listening to a voicemail. Multiple taps on the screen nor pressing the "home" button return the screen. Instead, I have to push the button on top of the iPhone multiple times to return to the screen. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
