IPhone Shopping List App

I'm looking for a good reliable shopping list app for the iPhone. I've tried all the free apps and they are terrible, buggy little programs that are poorly designed and not very user friendly. It seems that most of the shopping lists I've found are only rated at 3 stars and have very few reviews associated with them. And of those reviews it seems a chunk of them have not even used the app. Any recommendations are welcome.
Also a recommendation to Apple if you are reading, don't allow people to review an app if they have not actually downloaded it, this would eliminate a lot of the biased phony reviews.

Hi Brian,
Found you
I looked into three: Shopping List; SplashShopper; and Shopper. I've provided the links because there seems to be two apps called Shopping List (one without the middle space) in the Apps Store.
I wanted something that was flexible, easy to use, would grow with me, had support for the data on my Mac, and was reasonably priced.
Initially SplashShopper seemed to fit the bill on all counts, but it's not cheap: $10 for the iPhone app plus $20 for the Mac client. It sounded like it would grow with me and be flexible. I downloaded the Mac client and I'm afraid was not impressed. It seemed slightly awkward to use and tried to do too many things (for what I wanted). The iPhone app seemed to be totally lacking in documentation (if anyone has a link for it I'd appreciate a copy) and thus couldn't tell what it was really like on the iPhone - videos of its operation (like the other two apps) would be useful. On top of that, $10 for the iPhone app is reasonable if it's the right one but $30 total to have a Mac client too was just too steep and thus, together with the other reasons, it got rejected.
Shopping List and Shopper are $3.99 and $4.99 respectively. Their web sites give you a terrific idea of what the app will and will not do. I really liked the item photos in Shopper. But I also liked the talk of a web interface to your data on Shopping List (it's not there yet but we're told it's coming). Also, Shopping List comes with no preconceived ideas of what items you want to track, and Shopper comes with a list built-in, both apps can have their lists modified.
I liked the idea in Shopping List that it can tell me the last time I bought something and the badge displays the number of items needing to be bought. Neither app seems to handle quantities very well, something that SplashShopper does, as well as shop aisle numbers.
Therefore it came down to gut feeling about the two apps, and I chose Shopping List. I'm currently trying it out, I've entered nearly 70 items found in 4 shops. If it doesn't work out then I'll try Shopper - at their prices you can easily afford to take them for a ride.
One last point (that I made in the other thread): I feel slightly uneasy about waving my iPhone around in a store when buying stuff, it would be nice to have a case with an attached wrist strap!
I hope this helps but as always YMMV.

  • TS1702 Shopping List app by Hensel crashes everytime I try to use it, since ios 6 upgrade on my iPod 4 Touch.  Help

I purchased the iPod 4 Touch app "Shopping List" by Hensel.  I used the app daily, and found that it was very stable.  I upgraded my iPod with the ios 6 upgrade.  Now my Shopping List app crashes each time I try to use it.  It opens, but I cannot add an item to the list, create a list, or use the app at all.
    I have tried the following:
    1.  I tried to find an update for the app.  -  No luck.
    2.  I removed the app from my device, restarted the device with a hard shutdown.
    3.  Reinstalled the app.
    4.  I tried to use the app, and no dice.  It still does not work.
    5.  I looked all over the web for the developer's site.  I have not found it.  When I think that I am getting close, I get rerouted to the iTunes site.
    Please help.

I have had the same problem.  I can't find the app on the store anymore but I'm not sure what that means.  They may have just pulled it while they upgrade for iOS6 compatibility.
Since I still need to shop while they fix it, I downloaded GroceryIQ.  It has been great!  I really like the the "speak to enter" feature as well as the bar code scanner.
As much as I liked ShoppingList, I'm not going back.

Help, since downloading i06, the Shopping List app immediately quits when attempting to start a list.  There's no update for the app.  What do I do next? (I've already removed and downloaded it again.) Any solution?

  • Shopping List App with auto sync

    Hello
I am looking for an App that keeps shopping lists, very similar to many of the list apps available. However, I am looking for something that will easily keep lists on 2 separate peoples ipod touches up to date via the internet.
I want to be able to make a list and for other family member to see the updated list, and for me to see the updates they make to the list as well.
Is there anything like this available or any reasonably easy solution?
    Thanks
    Jamie

Remember The Milk is a very powerful list application/web service. It allows multiple lists; locations, email/text reminders. At work I enter items onto lists by sending them via a special email address or using Internet Explorer (groan). On my +iPod touch+ I use their excellent application which works 100% offline and then syncs when it get a connection. The web-based version is free, so if you routinely have WiFi around where you are using the iPods you can use that. To get the full offline facilities you need the RTM Pro version which has an annual charge.http://www.rememberthemilk.com/

  • I downloaded the new 6.0 and now my shopping list app closes when i try to add an item to the list

I downloaded the new update 6.0 to my Iphone4 and one of my favorite apps the ShoppingList wont let me add an item to the list. It closes completely when I select to add button. I have tried turning phone off and on and this hasn't helped any. Got any suggestions?

Purchases are tied to the Apple ID they were purchased with. If you use a new ID, you have to buy again.

  • Shopping List app

My suspicion is it's right under my nose, but I'm trying to figure out how I can create and edit a simple text file on my Mini and sync it with my iPodT and iPad.

Something like Evernote would do the job fine. You have to register for a free account at http://www.evernote.com/ , download the applications for your computer, iPad & iPod, and then add each device to your account. You will then have access to all the notes wherever you go.

  • How can I get my wireless keyboard and my new magic mouse to enter info into a Christmas list app on iphone 3GS? Do I have to move to another room? I have bluetooth on in my iPhone.

I have wireless keyboard and a new magic mouse. I want to enter data into a Christmas list app on my 3GS iPhone. Too time consuming to just type on iPhone keyboard. How can I get keyboard and mouse to be 'connected' or recognized by my iPhone? I have Bluetooth "on" in my iPhone.

You cannot connect the mouse.  This is not a feature of iphone
You can learn about connecting a keyboard in the manual:

APPLE says:If the previous owner is not present
Make sure the device is powered on and connected to a Wi-Fi or cellular network. Then contact the previous owner and ask them to follow these steps:
Sign in to their iCloud account at www.icloud.com/find.
Select the device from their Find My iPhone device list by clicking All Devices at the top of the screen.
Erase the device by clicking the Erase button. This will erase all content and settings from the device. When prompted, do not enter a phone number or message. Click Next until the device is erased.
When the erase is complete, click "Remove from Account" to remove the device from the account.
After the device has been erased and removed from the account, you can proceed with the device setup process.
i forgot to erase the phone.i just removed it without erasing.

  • TS1702 Recently I updated the shopping list/grocery list app that I purchased awhile back. When I try to add an item it kicks me back to the desktop.I have rebooted & reinstalled several times. No success.

Recently I installed the update for the Shopping List/Grocery List app that I purchased awhile back.  When I try to add an item to the list it throws me out of the app to the desk top on my ipod touch.  I have tried rebooting the device and reinstalling the app several times, Does anyone have any ideas how to get it to work or to go back to the old app before they updated it?

Have you contacted the developer/went to their support site? Maybe it just is not compatible with iOS 6.
You can try what yo have not already tried of the following:
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.

  • Iphone,ipod,imac Shopping list

I was wondering is there and application that I can use on my imac as a shopping list that I can then sync to my ipod touch or iphone without wifi or phone service to get the list

No idea... you should probably ask in one of the iPod touch or iPhone forums, as iSync has nothing to do with what you're asking about.

  • Does anyone know of a simple to do list app that syncs between an iPhone and a Mac?

Does anyone know of a simple to do list app that syncs between an iPhone and a Mac?

Not sure exactly what you are going for...
You're aware you need to use iTunes to sync apps between your iPhone and Mac unless you are running V10.7.2 and have iCloud setup.
BTW...  apps that are optimized for an iPhone will not run on the Mac OS X and vice versai, two different operating systems.
It really helps to tell us which Mac OS X you have installed when you post for help. Thanks!

  • JSF Shopping List

Hi all....my development team has been working in a web framework for the past 8+ months and we have hit a few serious roadblocks. I'm considering spearheading a switch to JSF, but I need to know if it will meet our requirements. After a perusal of O'Reilly's JSF book, by Hans Bergen, I have a general feel, but I'm interested in your opinions & experiences--e.g., the framework we're using claims to have certain functionality, but it's clearly broken.
Some of the items on this list have obvious answers & some are answerred in the O'Reilly book, but I'm interested in confirmation from you, the folks in the trenches.
Thanks in advance for your help,
    - Mike
    Shopping List:
    General Items:
    - what are JSFs biggest drawbacks if I were to use it as an enterprise technology for the next 5 years?
    - what are the biggest problems with Facelets?
    - if I use Facelets, do I still have to be a JSP guru?
    - what are the best books on JSF?
    - which is better, MyFaces or RI?
    Specific Items:
    - does JSF have the ability to create a library of reusable components?
    - backwards compatibility of components as new versions are released?
    - server-side and client-side validation?
    - can I easily create custom validation components?
    - does JSF have any glaring concurrency issues?
    - can I programmatically add components to a page at run time?
    - does JSF require me to use JDK1.5, or can I use 1.4?
    - does JSF support a single application properties file for i18n?
    - does JSF support per-page properties file for i18n (that override what is in the application file)?
    - can I easily display a single page in a different language?
    - does JSF allow for page inheritence? (can I create custom sub-pages from a generic parent "SearchPage"?)

I'll answer the things that I can. You cover quite a range with your questions though...
    - what are JSFs biggest drawbacks if I were to use
e it as an enterprise technology for the next 5
years?- JSF is still a young technology and will likely undergo a number of changes that will break backwards compatibility.
    - Performance could become an issue on very large applications.
    - what are the biggest problems with Facelets?- There are a number of little "got'cha's" once you start getting into it. Expect to be writing a number of custom validators and components.
    - There is a lack of control over the faces lifecycle, which can frustrate attempts to skip phases.
    - if I use Facelets, do I still have to be a JSP
P guru? Not at all. Faces actually takes over for JSP quite nicely, especially once you realize it's full capability. However, it doesn't hurt to have minimal knowledge of JSP. Nothing more than a developer worth his salary couldn't learn in a day or two.
    - what are the best books on JSF?I like Core JavaServer Faces by David Geary and Cay Horstmann. Partial book is online:
    http://www.horstmann.com/corejsf/
    - which is better, MyFaces or RI?Hah! This could start a few wars. Honestly, haven't looked much at MyFaces but I know that it just extends the RI with some extra components. Most people who use MyFaces swear by it. However, I wrote an entire enterprise application with just the RI and my own customs. Works great!
    - does JSF have the ability to create a library of
f reusable components?Yes, absolutely. I did this with my app and the new library will be very helpful to future projects.
    - backwards compatibility of components as new
w versions are released?Ok... Here you might have a few problems. I've already heard rumours of JSF 1.2 breaking a lot of 1.1. I know that there were major changes between 1.0 and 1.1 too. The JSF developers do not seem to be terribly concerned with backwards compatibility.
    - server-side and client-side validation?Server-side only. You'll need to use a client-side technology (such as JavaScript) for client-side validation. However, JSF components offer JavaScript hooks, so you can easily execute functions onchange, onclick, onblur, etc...
    - can I easily create custom validation components?Easy is a relative term. =) Not always. Writing customs will require a high learning curve. How easy it is depends on what you're doing and how closely you're tying it into other pre-existing components/validators/converters. After each custom you write, it starts getting a little easier.
    - does JSF support a single application properties
s file for i18n?I'll hazard a guess on this one, don't quote me on it. A separate message properties file is required for each locale. The message bundle will choose the appropriate one for each locale.
    - does JSF support per-page properties file for i18n
n (that override what is in the application file)?I think not. Again, just guessing here.
    - can I easily display a single page in a different
t language?Yes, actually this is quite easy. Assuming you set up the locale properly, you just need to use the h:outputText component with f:loadBundle to retrieve the messages.
    Hope this helps,

Am trying to download a ringtone to my iphone 5, but app button on itunes won't open when phone synced to PC. Anyone have ideas about this? Jimbo

Did you try reinstalling the app and contacting the developer (there should be a contact link on the app's description page in the store) ? If you don't get a reply from the developer then you could try
'report a problem' link from the purchase history on your computer's iTunes instead of on your iPad : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that song and use the 'Report a Problem' link (iTunes support should reply within, I think, 24 to 48 hours).
Some people have had a problem with the 'report a problem' link (it's been taking people to this site on a browser instead of showing a form in iTunes) - if it does that to you then try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page.
