Iphone sim card problems

i have an iphone 3g with 3.1.2 os. i had jsut dropped it today and and it will say no service frequently and other times it will have full bars. I have always hard service in the area I have lived in. I had tried restoring the network settings , restarting the ipod, and ejecting the sim card and re inersting it. my only theory is that the sim card tray is loose. *Any suggestions as to what is wrong with it.* I do not have warrinty on this phone any longer.

Sounds like you broke something. You may need to look into a replacement - visit an Apple Store or contact AppleCare.

  • Iphone Sim Card problems and updating and restoring problems

I bought a iphone about 1 year ago and about 2 months ago i was not able to see any wifi connections in the area or connect to any even though i was sure that there was a wifi nearby and my fellow coleauges could connect to it with their iphone. I thought that this might have something to do with the "restrictions" so i went to turn the restrictions off but realised that it had a passcode that i had forgotten. I wasnt able to restore it within the iphone so i restored it from my computer. Once i had finished the iphone had a " connect to itunes " on the screen and it said that there was no sim car installed, even though there was. I tried cleaning the sim card and everything else, i tried connecting it to itunes but it just said no sim card installed. Now i cannot use my iphone or cant even activate it. I have also tried to restore it in recovery mode but ended up with the same problem. Please Help.! Thanks

  • HT4993 i been having sim card problems with my iphone 5. am i the only one?

i been having sim card problems with my iphone 5. am i the only one?

    Hello,
I'm also had problems with Iphone 5 , it read no sim card, i solved problem by removing sim card and cleaning with alcohol and q-tip and installing back.
    Shut down phone.
On the side of phone , you will see a small pin hole, insert paper clip and sim card will come out, be careful to do it over a clean towel as not to let drop on floor, make sure your hands clean while doing this.
Insert sims card back and turn on, it should work again.
    Good Luck.

  • Can I put my iphone sim card into my ipad mini?

Can I put my iphone sim card into my ipad mini?

Depends on the model of iPhone, and the actual cellular plan it has.
If its an iPhone 5 with an unlimited Data Plan you may be able to do it.
Any other model of iPhone or a plan without a data packcage will not work.

  • Can I use my iPhone SIM card in another phone?

While I save up to get my iphone repaired, can I use my iPhone sim card in my Motorolla Rockr (my prior phone) or do I need to buy a new one? ATT said the sim in my Rockr is permanently disabled...
I would just try it but I'm at work and don't have my iphone here. I want to pickup a sim card on my way home if I can't...

You can use the sim card from the iPhone in any AT&T phone.

  • What is stored, in addition to contacts, on the iPhone sim card?

Other than Contacts, what is stored on the iphone sim card?

The iPhone can store contacts to the SIM Card, but this is not supported by Apple, but the iPhone can actually write to the SIM Card. The iPhone can read contacts from the SIM Card, so if any contacts are present, it can read them perfectly.
The SIM Card stores your personal phone number and has the User specific Carrier ICCID number among other possible proprietary information.

  • Can I use my old ATT/iphone sim card in a new iphone?

So, I want to get a new iPhone and put my first AT&T/iPhone sim card, the card that came in my first iPhone into.....will this work? normal activation thru iTunes? and tips, tricks, suggestions, etc.
    thanks in advance,
    Eric

You have to activate the iPhone because you have to active your iPhone account. This isn't just another phone that you can switch SIM cards between and it work.
I don't know what "back door" you're talking about but I hope that you would know by now the iPhone is not another regular cell phone. But it most certainly does work with any AT&T SIM.

  • IPhone 3GS SIM card problems

Hello. I have an iPhone 3GS and I was using iOS 5.0.1 prior the upgrade to 5.1.1. Immediately after upgrading to the latest version my iPhone couldn't find any network and shortly after it displayed "Invalid SIM card". I tried to turn it off and then back on but it didn't help. Then I tried to restore the phone with the help of itunes. After doing so i had to set my phone from the beginning to chose the language to chose the country the wifi conection etc. and at last i hoped it would activate. But it displayed me this:
"Only compatible SIM cards from a supported carrier may be used to activate iPhone. Please insert the SIM card that came with your iPhone or visit a supported carrier's store to recive a replacement SIM card."
And that's it i can't use this phone anymore not even as a music player or for net browsing. I tried again to connect to itunes in hope it had some kind of restore solution but it didn't. It even displayed this:
"The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported.
Only compatible SIM cards from a supported carrier may be used to activate iPhone. Please insert the SIM card that came with your iPhone or visit a supported carrier's store to recive a replacement SIM card."
When i got the iPhone it didn't come with a SIM card. And I used my old SIM card that i was using, and it was working fine until this upgrade.
Is there a way to fix this problem? Can i downgrade it somehow? Will I be able to upgrade it with the next iOS version in hope it will have this bug fix?
    Please help

Your phone was hacked to be used with your carrier.  Upgrading the iOS has rightfully re-locked your phone to the original carrier.  You cannot use your phone for anything until you activate it.  That means having a SIM card in place from the original locked carrier.  No way around this, nor is there any way to downgrade your iOS version.

  • Iphone 3 sim card problem!

I updated the software on it and now it doesn;t want to recognize the sim card, says I need to connect it to iTunes and when I do it just gives me the message that its not recognizing sim card. the iphone is used outside of US and it has a prepaid sim card. It belongs to a friend of mine who asked me to update him my music.. and now it just stopped working, please tell me what can I do

the iphone is used outside of US and it has a prepaid sim card.
If the phone in question came from the US, that means it was originally carrier locked to AT&T. Since AT&T will not unlock an iPhone for anyone for any reason, that would mean the phone was hacked to get it to work outside the US. Updating software or restoring an iPhone will re-lock it to the carrier it was originally locked to, if the phone was hacked to unlock it. Sounds like that's what has happened to you.

  • Itunes doesn't recognize iphone sim card after installing io5

I sent hours trying to upgrade my Iphone 3gs to io5 and now Itunes doesn't recognize the phone sim card, I only have a message saying 'There is no sim card in the Iphone you are trying to activate'.   Iphone is no longer under warranty, so I don't know what to do if doesn't work any more.
Any advice very welcome Thank you!

Same problem with my 3GS :
Impossible to activate IOS 5 because itunes say "sorry there is no sim inside"...
I tried everything and the problem is found on many forum. many people can not activate their iPhone after installing the update.

  • Cannot connect due to sim-card problems, Cannot connect due to sim-card problems

Trying to get started with my iPhone 4, which I recently bought from one of my mother's colleagues.
But when I get to the activation of the iPhone it shows a message on the display that says: "Only compatible SIM cards from a supported phone company may be used to activate iPhone. Insert the SIM card that came with your iPhone or visit a supported telephone company store to get a replacement SIM card ". This suggests that the iPhone is not unlocked for other phone companies, but the other day I was in a store and got the phone unlocked. Therefore I can now not figure out what the problem is. When I connect the iPhone to iTunes quickly a message appears on my Mac, which says: "The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported", and then the same message which is displayed on the iPhone.
Some geniuses who can help me?
    Thanks,
    Johan Helms

With "Carrier" you mean mobile operator right? For should I then ask her, who sold me the iPhone, to get it unlocked or can I do it myself? I have not received any mail from Apple and I can't get into the iPhone itself. I was told that her who sold me the phone had taken care to restore it.
I have tried to update my iTunes, but i already got the latest version. I have also tried to install the new iOS 6 software on the iPhone, but after a few seconds a message is showed, telling that it's not possible to backup the iPhone.
I'm starting to get a bit frustated, given that my own phonecompany told me to contact Apple, Apple told me to contact Telenor and ask them to unlock the iPhone. None of it has worked and now you say that it is not possible for Telenor to unlock the iPhone.

  • Original iPhone SIM card error!

Hello. I got an iPhone 2G, it was unlocked, once I updated it and well it got locked and said "Slide for emergency" I had to get it unlocked from a store. Now I have an AT&T SIM card (Before I did not) and updated it again thinking that there will be no errors this time because of the SIM card. So I updated it, iTunes said, "The SIM card on this iPhone does not appear to be supported." I had iOS 2.2 now kind of have iOS 3.1.3. I have Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit and iTunes 10.5.2.11 (UK version (But I live in America)). My iPhone shows the AT&T sign by the way and shows time when I slide the bar but iTunes still shows the error. Please help!

Thank you for your answer. I did just that after I posted this thread, but AT&T was no help. But I was able to solve the problem thanks to jailbreaking and unlocking. Cheers!

  • Please! Help me with my SIM card problem!

When I first bought the Blackberry Flip 8220, I was constantly having a problem with my SIM card and the signals. My signal would constantly drop down to none and would go into SOS mode. Not only that, but it would also say either "SIM Card Error,""Invalid SIM Card," or "Insert SIM Card." So, the RIM sent me a new replacement for the cellphone. For the first few days, it worked just fine but, as the time passed by, the phone started to have the similar problem. What's worse is that as the time passed, the more problem started to show up! Now, my side buttons aren't functioning and the rate of my phone experiencing the problem with the SIM card and the signals, similar to the ones mentions above, has risen drastically. For now, the side buttons aren't my priority but what I would like to find out is how come my phone is experiencing such problem with the SIM card and how I can fix it. Please, help me! Due to this problem, I can't even receive the international calls.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
I don't believe that RIM issues SIMs...the carriers issue the SIM cards since these activate your phone on their network. RIM doesn't care what network you use...but the carriers do
So, what I'd suggest is that you go see your carrier and find out what's going on with the bad SIM. It is also possible that the device itself has a problem with the SIM card contacts...in which case the advice is the same, your carrier provides your service, so going to see them is the right thing to do.
Good luck and let us know how it goes!
