IPhone sleeps immediately after unlock button press.

I have an iPhone 4 and iPad 1 that both have this issue. Every once in a while, maybe 1-3 times a week, when I hit the unlock button, it will flash the screen on for a fraction of a second and go back to sleep. I then have to hit the button again before I can slide to unlock and use it. Has anyone else had this issue? Any tips on how I can get it working right again? It is quite rare that it happens to me but still a little annoying that both of my iDevices are doing this. Thanks!

Hey aaaTiger...
Like DaVBMan said... this is by design... If the phone didnt' allow you to answer without unlocking then you would miss the call.. Since the phone didn't technically unlock it goes back to a locked status when completed... As designed by apple...
When you make the phone call you've initiated the phone by saying you want to do the call, and therefore allows you to do whatever else you want while it is unlocked...
The point that you are describing is as designed and documented in the iPhone users manual on the website... To the best of my knowledge you can not change this since the phone is technically still locked... If you want to use it after you need to manually go through the process of unlocking it... Which is again the same process that you would need to do if you manually pressed the black button on the top of the phone which locks the device up...
Hope that helps clarify the situation..

My facebook icon dissapeared from my iphone 4s immediately after I updated my face book app. I have tryed everything to restore it but nothing worked and I couldn't even download it again because in the settings it says thats its installed and when try to open it it doesn't respond. Restart iPhone: Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the home button together until the apple logo appears (ignore the ON/OFF slider) then let both buttons go and wait for phone to restart.

  • Mac Pro switches itself off immediately after power button is pressed on

    Hi there,
I would like to share with you an ongoing problem of my Mac Pro (about on and off 11 month I think). Since its HD changed at the beginning of this year I've been having the problem of "switching itself off immediately after the power button is pressed on." I took it to Milton Keynes Apple Shop and apparently they couldn't replicate the problem I received it after they reset it's PRAM. Meanwhile I read the related posts and discussions about the problem and my assumption was as suggested in the scenarios of similar cause – Power Supply unit. I had a technical chat with ex-Solutions staff from Brighton, he also said it might have been caused by it.
I really don't know what to do because, sometimes attempting 10 or over times of pressing the button I hear the chime and literally 10 or 20 seconds later it switches itself off. And it happened this Sunday morning again, 8 times I've encountered the failure. And the most confusing thing is sometimes I leave it about an hour or two and then it just works and runs fine as it has never have happened.
By the way I left my computer on for a very long time I suspect maybe more than a month it was on sleep most of time when i am not using it. But yesterday I made the mistake of logging off and shutting it down. Now I can't turn my computer on. Highly frustrating and amazingly bizarre technical challenge.
Mind you I am fairly capable of carrying DIY operations on it. Previously I baked my graphics card as suggested in the forum – it works fine at the moment I am waiting until it completely brakes. But this power problem really really puzzles me.
Any opinions, how to solve this cause is highly appreciated.
    Many thanks!
    Specs:
    Mac Pro 8 core
    Xeon 5400 2nd Generation Early 2008
    10 GB RAM
    1 TB HD

The SMC especially on the very first 2-3 months of Early 2008.
Use to suffer from a "restart on wake from sleep" issue.
Some one told me that is not what "inrush current issue" is but that is what I (and couple others) called it.
Best to always have a workstation on 1500VA UPS.
Not share the outlet or cirucit even with anything major.
Yes it could I guess, poor phrase, but put more stress on PSU over time as a result also.
Methods to reset SMC have varied and changed over time. Thanks to web not all the revisions and older versions are kept online though to compare to.
Stories of people going on vacation etc for two weeks to come back to a "dead" Mac Pro started showing up in 2007.
If it had an actual SMC button, use that to reset.
If not, leaving it totally disconnected, and all external cables and such over-night, not for the mere 5-10 minutes.
Unplug but then press and hold power button for 8-10 seconds. And only once. And not to be done repeatedly. That was SMC Reset #3.
I know the 2007 8-core 3GHz had a different PSU than the smaller models.
    2008 high end was 8-core 3.2GHz 5400 (stock was 2.8GHz 4 or 8-core)
FBDIMMs draw between 10W up to 15W each, so possible to have 8 DIMMs drawing 120W when maxed out. And heat. I always recommend Mac Pro use fan control to boost the fans a small 400 rpm to expel heat better and keep FBDIMM temps down. Heat, and temperature fluxuations stress and weaken components.
Other than AHT and the tools that a Apple Certified center should have, not much other than to swap out parts, monitor - iStatPro or Hardware Monitor -
And because of all this, I would setup a test system so you have a freshly formatted and installed OS and take it from there, with a better chance.
    ATI 2600XT still? or upgraded?

  • MacBook Pro doesn't wake if left asleep too long; sleeps immediately after boot; SMC Reset / NV Reset only temporary fix

I've tried hard to find someone else with these symptoms, and nobody seems to have a complete answer.
After upgrading my 2008 MacBook Pro to OSX Lion, these problems began.
Whenever I leave the lid closed for too long - not entirely sure how long, but the longer I leave it the more likely this is to happen - it refuses to wake when I open the lid. The power light will brighten, as if it were about to wake, and sometimes the screen will flash, but then it will all go black, power light and all.
At this point I press the power button, and the power light briefly flashes, and then the macbook seems to 'really' turn itself off.
Then I press the power button again, and it begins to boot. I enter my FileVault 2 password, and the apple logo and spinner appear, but as soon as the graphics driver kicks in (or whatever it is - the point when the shades of grey suddenly change and the brightness automatically adjusts) suddenly the mac goes straight to sleep immediately, and we're back to the same symptom as before.
It will do this repeatedly through a 2nd, 3rd, etc power cycle.
Resetting the SMC doesn't seem to help.
I have managed to get the macbook to boot normally by clearing the NV Ram, and also by booting into single user mode and immediately shutting down and rebooting. But this does not solve the problem, it merely lets me boot one more time.
Any thoughts appreciated, it's driving me mad, not to mention losing me work.

Anyone? Is there really nobody else who's seen similar symptoms?
I'm still experiencing this. I've discovered that booting into Recovery Mode usually works first time, but this doesn't help with my wake-up-from-sleep problem.

  • [SOLVED] System goes to sleep immediately after boot

I just upgraded this afternoon and now my system goes to sleep (suspend-to-RAM) as soon as it has finished booting. When I then press the power button, it wakes up, briefly shows the login screen and then goes back to sleep afterwards. This happens in runlevel 5. When I boot into runlevel 1, the system stays up all the time. I guess it has something to do with systemd and I already tried to find out how to debug this, but was unsuccessful in finding out what goes wrong.
I am using i686 Arch with systemd 210-3 and Kernel 3.13.6-1.

No it's a Noname Netbook. It runs without a graphical user interface (only as a server).
I've downgraded to systemd 208-11 and systemd-sysvcompat 208-11 and the error is gone. So it is definitely a systemd thing.
    EDIT:
I figure it is related to this from http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/s … 17362.html:
    * logind is now a lot more aggressive when suspending the
machine due to a closed laptop lid. Instead of acting only
on the lid close action it will continuously watch the lid
status and act on it. This is useful for laptops where the
power button is on the outside of the chassis so that it can
be reached without opening the lid (such as the Lenovo
Yoga). On those machines logind will now immediately
re-suspend the machine if the power button has been
accidentally pressed while the laptop was suspended and in a
              backpack or similar.
    EDIT2:
Now that I knew what caused this, I googled for "logind suspend lid laptop 210" and found this other thread with the solution.

  • Wifi network not recognized for long duration after WPS button pressed on ap

I have a TP-Link TP-WA901ND (access point) and it has been working flawlessly I pressed the WPS button on the device to get a wireless printer to acknowledge the network.
Now after 10hrs all the devices and computers see the network except for my z10 and BOLD 9300 until I power cycle the device.
    Any ideas?

a "csv"-region and redirct to first page.
After saving the report I see the "root" page again and the button "Export" is disabled.
How can I enable this button?
    Thanks in advance
    Bye Ulrike

    Thanks for the reply,
I actually tried that first. The problem is that I need the procedure to download a custom CSV file. It works with a redirect to a url. I could not make it work from a page process. There are several threads and a how-to about downloading a csv file. Nothing helped me get it to work from a page process.
My whole application revolves around the user selecting some items from a report and clicking a button to get a custom csv built and downloaded. The csv has too many columns to be a report download and the columns may be too wide.
    Thanks again,
    Cy

  • Help with unlocking - I am trying to buy a used SPRINT IPHONE 4S. After unlocking will it work with ATT

I am trying to buy a used SPRINT IPHONE 4S.  Once I buy I plan to UNLOCK it ( Get it unlocked )
Then can I use it with ATT ?
Can someone please tell me whether an unlocked IPHONE can work with any cell company please ?
That will be  a quick answer to my question.

    1. No. iPhones unlocked by Sprint can't be used with a different USA carrier.
    2. Not in this case. Sprint only unlocks iPhones for international use.

  • Macbook Air 2012 goes back to Sleep immediately after waking it up

So I have had this 13inch Macbook Pro for about a month and in that time it has done this about twice already. In order to get it working again I have to wake it up the second time and then it works fine.
I have done the SMC  and PRAM reset but that does not seem to help. This usally happens when the Mac is connected to a power supply and goes to sleep by itself after some inactivity. Would like to know if anyone is having a similar issue, if so did you found any solution? Thanks in advance. Just to clarify I am working on a 13 inch Macbook Air with 256GB SSD and using Mountian Lion 10.8.

Have also had this issue since purchase. Have tried most solutions, including restoring from a time machine backup file, to no avail.
The issue always happens like this:
    1) plug computer in with screen open.
    2) macbook air goes to sleep on its own
    3) come back to use computer later (usually a few hours later) and take computer off power supply.
    4) computer works fine for about 2 minutes
    5) computer screen dims for about 2 seconds and then the computer goes to sleep
    6) have to hit space bar repeatedly to wake computer up
    7) Computer runs normally until plugged in again and then the whole issue starts all over again from step 1.
    Anyone help?
    Am running 10.8.4. 2ghz Intel Core i7, 8gb ram, 256gb SSD, 11.6" Macbook Air (purchased June 2012)

  • Bondi iMac shuts down immediately after startup button light turns green

Is my Bondi blue baby (purchased at the midnight launch of the original iMac) finally dead?
When I push the startup button, it glows amber and the startup chime sounds. A few seconds later, the button glows green for an instant, and the power shuts off. The button then won't do anything unless I unplug the power supply for a few minutes and plug it back in.
I have tried using a paper clip to push the reset button, but to no avail. Also tried zapping the PRAM, as well as starting from a CD, but neither helped.
I know the unit has little value other than the sentimental, but my mother-in-law (who inherited it from me) is used to it and is hoping that I can bring it back to life.
Is there anything else I should try before carting it off to the recycling depot? Thanks!

    Hey H S,
This is from the service manual for the Bondi:
"The battery on the logic board controls the stored system settings,
such as date and time. It is important to note that the battery does
    not affect power at startup."
However this is from page 11 of the s. manual for the 400, SE and DV:
"7 Press the power on button on the front of the computer again.
If the computer won’t start, go to the next step. If the
computer does start, you may have a *bad battery*."
So I always check the battery. Altho' all the won't start cases I've seen where the battery was the cause did not exibit the starts up and shuts down symptom.
    Also from the manual:
"Resetting the logic board can resolve many system problems (see
the Symptom/Cure tables for examples). Whenever you have a
unit that fails to power up, you should follow this procedure
    before replacing any modules.
    1. Unplug the computer.
    2. Disconnect the cable that runs from the power supply to the
power filter board on the bottom side of the logic board/mass
    storage chassis.
    3. Press the Power On button on the front of the unit.
    4. Remove the logic board/mass storage chassis from the unit.
    5. Remove the battery from the logic board.
    6. Wait at least 10 minutes before replacing the battery.
    7. Make sure the battery is installed in the correct +/-
    direction.
    8. Reassemble the computer and test the unit."
There are protection circuits in the iMac and usually a bad PAV ( flyback and HV caps in particular) are the cause of this particular failure symptom.

  • Down State stays after back button pressed on browser

I have built a Navigation Bar in Dreamweaver CS5. I want the nav images to indicate what page you are on by showing the down image state. This is a check box within the Navigation options "Show 'Down Image' initially". This works fine on all pages as long as you use the buttons to navigate, but when you press the back button on the browser (safari & firefox), the page that you have just come from also stays in the down state, affectively showing 2 down states. Has anybody had a similar problem and can help.

    Hi
This is standard behaviour with browser back buttons, if the page is in the browser cache they will display the page in the same state as the cached page.

  • Syncing iPhone aborts immediately after backup

Just started having this problem today. iPhone 3GS, OS 4.0.1, latest iTunes.
I plug in the USB sync cord. Goes through Verifying iPhone. Backs up the iPhone. Says "Syncing iPhone..." and then aborts with no error message, no message at all, with the iPhone device vanished from my left window pane. The iPhone itself still claims "Sync in Progress" but iTunes has nothing else to say.
What's going on here? I tried powering off and on the phone, restarting iTunes, deleting my backups and sync history. Nothing helps. Please, help!
Addendum: I am not syncing calendars or contacts or anything beyond movies, music, and apps.
    Message was edited by: StefanGagne

Figured it out. ComicZeal, the most recent app I put on the thing, apparently was crashing the sync process.
The complete lack of an iPhone error message or anything to indicate what was going wrong was utterly unhelpful, however.

  • Powerbook shuts down immediately after startup

    Hi
Our PowerBook has started to automatically sleep immediately after starting up or being woken from its sleep.
For some reason prior to starting up it has always run through a black screen with code similar to the initial DOS code that you'd see on a Windows PC.
This code stays on screen just long enough to read a message that indicates temperature issues, however the mac is not hot in any way.
We also find that if it is shut down for a long period, it will start and run some time before giving up and going back to sleep.
Our guess is that there is a temperature sensor malfunction of some kind. If this is so, what can we do to resolve this.
    Craig

There have been many discussions about this problem in these forums, but unfortunately the search feature is currently disabled. However, if you feed Google with the appropriate keywords (e.g. PowerBook narcolepsy temperature sensor) you will find lots of material on this topic including potential cures.

  • Removing a confirmation pop-up after a button click

What I am trying to do is the following:
I have a confirmation popup for a table row delete triggering action 'delete_confirm'.
    yes action = 'delete'
    no action = 'none'
If they choose yes (delete) the action handler calls the controller method which will call a back end service which takes care of the delete.
The problem I am encountering is that the dialog box will remain on the screen until the back end method call has finished processing.  I'd like to dismiss the dialog box immediately after th button push and display the standard WD hourglass + processing graphic while the back-end call processes.
I hope this is clear; if not, I will try to elaborate.

Thanks for the response.  You are right, I needed a second round trip to process both independently.  Unfortunately, I was unable to find a graceful solution.  Instead, I used the timer control and manipulated it in such a manner that it fires off an action 1 second after the window closes.  It's fairly transparent to the user and they get to see what they are used to in terms of loading so I'll just have to wait until enhancement pack 1 to do this a different way I think.

My Ipod is frozen. I've tried holding the power and the sleep button for 10 sec until the apple came on the screen. After this i've tried again to turn it off and to slide the unlock button, but it didn't work! Any Ideas????

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
