IPhone smtp settings

I'm having problems with my smtp settings on my iPhone 3gs running ios4. Since upgrading it wont send emails, I keep getting a message telling me that one of the recipients is incorrect, even when doing a straight reply. All was working fine before upgrade.
The other problem is that when it does send a email, it sends it using a googlemail account I have even when I'm trying to send from my default pop account!
Any suggestions, I'm with Orange, the phone is officially unlocked from O2.

I'm having the exact same issue. My outgoing SMTP is my work server, which worked fine and then suddenly stopped about a week ago. My sysadmin said that it appeared the iPhone wasn't sending the password correctly. I tried it with and without SSL, but no go. I was afraid to delete the outgoing as I didn't know if it would affect my messages, but I guess I'll try that. Geez, there's only like 4 settings; I don't get how it can be an issue. Any other thoughts?
The other issue is that I'm trying to add a me.com account as SMTP. I used my proper name, password, etc., it said it validated fine, then it doesn't appear on the SMTP server list. Ideas?

After successfully configuring email, POP and SMTP server info becomes unavalible.
How can we setup the same email POP and SMTP on a new phone.
I'm trying to setup @LIVE.COM via yahoo. I was successful on a previous phone:
    pop.mail.yahoo.com
    smtp.mail.yahoo.com
    NO GO....................!
Sadly when I setup email via @LIVE.COM, MS did not provide POP nor SMTP and I was directed to use someone besides MS (Microsoft)

    Hey rommy88,
Thanks for the question. You are correct, the option to disable Voice Dial is located in Settings > Passcode (before iOS 7.1, it was located in Settings > General > Passcode). You can also choose to disable Siri access from the lock screen:
    Siri settings - iPhone
    http://help.apple.com/iphone/7/#/iph634dd0e14
Prevent access to Siri when iPhone is locked. Go to Settings > Touch ID & Passcode (iPhone 5s) or Settings > Passcode (other models). You can also disable Siri by turning on restrictions. See Restrictions.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • Multiple email accounts auto sync no smtp settings transferred

I have about 7 email accounts set up in Mac Mail. When I sync these to my iphone the outgoing server (smtp) settings don't transfer and I need to type in each one for each separate account. Really quite a pain.
Anyone know how to make the outgoing server info sync over automatically so that it's the same as what I set up on the computer?
    Thanks

Hi, thanks.  They're not. One is a hotmail account and one a BTconnect. I can see what you're saying... the outgoing primary mail server in settings is set differently for each account.
The outgoing server for hotmail is set at smtp.live.com and the BTconnect is smtp.btconnect.com.
If I go into outgoing servers on the hotmail account it allows me to turn off all other servers listed, including the BTconnect one.  BUT when I go into the BTconnect one to turn off the hotmail one, it's greyed out and won't let me... very confusing/frustrating!

  • Email SMTP settings

What are the exact SMTP settings on the iPhone 3G (French - SFR) for outgoing email when using MobileMe in full sync ?
    Additional info:
    1) All incoming email, from multiple POP accounts, works.
    2) Mac outgoing email works.
    3) When using the Mac SMTP settings on a POP account - email is not sent.
    Thanks for your help

You can't use the MobileMe SMTP server to send messages with another email account.
You can use the MobileMe SMTP server to send messages with a MobileMe account only.

  • SMTP settings don't change

    Hi community.
I have a problem after changing my mail account and mail server settings because I moved my email addresses to another server. (The old server collected all my emails from various servers and kept them. Now I reverted that step to get rid of this particular server.)
After moving all emails from one to another mail server, which worked without problems, I switch it off. Then I changed the email settings on Mac, iPhone and iPad. Connecting to the new IMAP server and receiving emails works fine. While sending emails on Mac and iPad also works properly, I cannot send emails on my iPhone. The error message says:
    >> Cannot Send Mail: The user name or password for "SMTP:[email protected]" is incorrect. <<
I can understand that these information are incorrect now. What I cannot understand is why the iPhone not just tries to take the new information I entered.
What I've done on my iPhone so far:
    - Changed credentials and server for IMAP and SMTP.
    - Deleted the accounts from the iPhone and created new ones.
    - Reset my iPhone completely and restored it from iCloud backup.
No luck with any of these approaches.
Unfortunately the iPhone didn't bother keeping some of my apps and app settings after restoring, but it still sticks to the old account information regarding SMTP.
Is there a way to wipe the SMTP settings (or maybe even all email related settings) without having to start without backup and install and customise everything from the scratch?
    My devices here:
    - MacBook Pro with Mavericks
    - iPad 4 16GB with iOS 8.1 (12B410)
    - iPhone 5 16GB with iOS 8.1 (12B411)
    Thanks in advance,
    Rob

As for the suggestion that I contact tech support, I tried that.  I was simply unable to convince any of the several Verizon representatives that this was a throughput issue.  This "Rick" I spoke to was very, very adamant that Verizon's only obligation was to provide email access from the Verizon website, and that if I could see the website Verizon had done everything it was supposed to do.  And he was the supposedly high-level tech guy who seemed to know as much about the internet as my 10 year old.  I gather his specialty was in helping people who didn't know how to set up POP clients, which wasn't and isn't my problem.
The service went out entirely after the most recent storm (this is on Madison Ave in Manhattan -- we don't have any lines above ground, and not too many trees outside of Central Park), but when it came back up the email seemed to work OK and the websites seemed to load better, though we now seem to be right back where we were.
There's definitely some kind of pause (latency-seeming) before emails go out that is not present when we access the internet via any other provider.  The pause is similar to the site-loading delay.
I'm SURE it's my POP3 settings, Rick from tech support.
Call back and don't mention email at all. Show them the speed test results you are getting and some of the sites that aren't loading. Saying "email" sometimes puts tech in email troubleshooting mode, and it can be difficult to get them off of that track. You shouldn't have to be sneaky to get support, but sometimes you just have to.

  • Can't reset SMTP settings on account preferences - inactive/gray

    I hope you can help.
It looks like Mail was updated (great in theory, bad in practice), and now I can't send from Mail. I get the error message : "SMTP settings are not sete, please use Accounts Preferences panle to set SMTP options.
So, I dig out my incoming server, pop.mail.yahoo.com and my ourtiong mail SMTP server info: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
But when I go to Preferences/Accounts, it won't let me make any changes. All the fields are gray and inactive, except for "E-mail aliases" which I tried and nothing happened.
Help! All advice is greatly appreciated!
    Amy

    Amy,
First of all, I don't know what you mean by "Mail has updated"-- please explain? if you mean Mail has suddenly opened as though new, then you may have an issue with available free space on your hard drive, or if partitioned, on the boot partition. Check free space if this is what happened.
As for the grayed out entry info, it appears you proceeded into setting up the account in the Preferences with the Account Type set to .mac, which of course, is not what you would use for a Yahoo account.
    More info, please.

  • SMTP Settings in production environment

    Hi,
This is my first project in BPM. I want to know the way how - SMTP settings are managed in Production environment. My concern is if I want to deploy my proces on to some other engine, is there any way so that I do not need to manually set the SMTP settings for new engine.
    Thanks & Regarsd,
    Sujata

I created external resource for SMTP server, which gets deployed with process & can be changed from Enterprise. I used this external resource while sending an email from my process.

  • ISP vs. Webmail SMTP settings on email setup

    Afternoon,
For no discernable rhyme or reason, when eFusion based email addresses (connected to a newly built website post-launch) are being setup on clients computers/various devices, the outgoing mail server setting has to be set as their ISP's mail server and not the suggested (as per the setup guide @ http://kb.worldsecuresystems.com/kb/email-configuration-guide6.html) mail.clientsdomainurl.com in order to work.
There doesn't seem to be a pattern of whether the mail services are actually run through adobe, or if its another 3rd party or exhange server in-house.
What are you experiences or advice in how to determine if the ISP smtp will be required, or even why it would be required for email hosted by BC to work?
    Thank you

Some ISP's will not allow the relay of outgoing email to another SMTP address (perhaps to stop spammers sending remotely through their servers). The use of the SMTP address provided by your ISP is usually fine as there's no operational relationship with your incoming mail server. It's more a pain when you are on mobile, moving between ISPs in different regions, and having to update your SMTP settings on the go.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

  • SMTP settings - Mail Accounts

    Hi,
I'm re-installing Leopard on my MacBook Pro from zero.
Got a backup on an external HD.
    Need to know where the:
    - info regarding smtp servers is stored - had 22 different smtp settings for several locations (filename/extension)
    - info regarding Mail Accounts
    Thx,
    Cheers,
    Snake

    Hi,
I know that the SMTP server settings are correct as they work correctly for the work email account. The home account (that is not working) uses these same settings.
In the iPad OS when you go into the Mail settings and click through to the menus to get to the SMTP servers there is a primary smtp server specified this is globally used across all the mail accounts. As I say I know that my settings for this are correct as it works for the work account.
I have however taken your advice and confirmed with my service provider and re-entered all the smtp settings to this primary server and the iPad confirms that all the details are verified, however I still get the same problem with the work emails sending correctly and the home ones stuck in the outbox. To me it appears that the problem is not with logging onto the smtp server the problem is with the iPad actually sending the message to server.
    Any other suggestions?
