IPhone speaker crackles when music played at top volume

After about 90 minutes straight of playing spoken-word podcasts and music from my internal iPhone 4S speakers at top volume, the music now crackles when played at top volume. This change happened mid-song, when the unit was just sitting untouched on a counter. At first top volume was not as loud as it was previously, but the unit seems to have regained the functionality. I've reset the unit twice.
Any idea what happened and—more importantly—how I can fix it? Thanks!

Zach
I have the same problem, actually its only one month since i used my new iphone 4s.
I did not played it for hours...actually i just had a conversation on skype using the original headset up to 2 hours.. Then i used the phone on a portable speaker for music. Suddenly, when i removed the jack and played a game i noticed the cracking sound on the speaker on full volume...
Zach, any recommendation on how i can fix this things... Its really annoying...
Apple please help us on this matter...

If you are referring to the speaker(s) along the bottom edge, there is one speaker, one microphone.

    Hi NWL1,
Thanks for the question. If I understand correctly, the iPhone won't update and is stuck. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you resolve or isolate the issue.

  • My new iPad speaker crackles when listening to some music or games. Is my speaker dying out on me? Can this be fixed?

When I listen to loud or deep bass music, my new iPad speaker crackles. Is this a common problem with iPads? Can this be fixed? How much is it? My warranty is expired.

    LambChops1,
I’m using Mavericks, and it’s still possible to select text to drag and for cutting and pasting. Left-clicking and right-clicking is still possible, too.
Try opening the Trackpad pane of System Preferences, and select the Point & Click tab. To right-click, ensure that your “Secondary click” checkbox has been checked; the small print under “Secondary click” is a dropdown menu which allows you to select the form of right-clicking that you prefer. (For instance, mine is set to “Click in bottom right corner”.) For left-clicking, is your “Tap to click” checkbox checked, or unchecked? (Mine is unchecked, since I prefer pushing for left-clicking over tapping to do so.)

  • Crackling when I play my video on the iPod

Does anyone know why there is crackling on the iPod when I play my video (from iTunes) on my iPod. I was having problems with my ipod before it starting doing this, it was shutting off on its own and I reset it and that seemed to work but after I reset it it started to make crakling noise on the video. Has this happened to anyone else and is there a fix for it?

How is it annoying? If you watching a video with audio, and you have it turned up you shouldnt be able to hear the crackling at all. the only way i can really hear it is putting my ear on the back of it while its playing. it also does it when its loading a video once you click on it but its hard to hear it becauase its so quite so for me its not a problem at all cause i cant hear it.

  • How do i fix the sound on an iPhone 4S? When i play music the sound bar at the bottom disappeared and when i try to adjust sound with the buttons on the side, nothing happens. Also the sound in my apps is not working.

The sound isn't working. And it also does not appear, when i try to adjuct it with the buttons the sound bar doesn't appear and when i try playing music at the bottom the sound bar disappeared. How do I fix this?

Basic troubleshooting steps clearly outlined in the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new device.  Have you gone through ALL of these troubleshooting steps?
If you have gone through all the troubleshooting steps and you're still having problems, you'll need to bring your phone into Apple for evaluation.

  • IPhone 4 crackling when using iPod

Any idea how to fix the random crackling in the background when playing the iPod on my iPhone 4. I dont remember hearing this before the latest update or on my iPhone 3G3.

    Jamesey U,
Try resetting your iPhone. To reset the iPhone, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time until you see the Apple logo.
If that doesn't work, then try to reset all settings. To reset settings, Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. Note: This will reset all settings. No data or media will be deleted.
If that still doesn't work, you can try restoring the iPhone using iTunes. To restore, connect the iPhone to your computer. When it appears in the Source list, click on Restore in the Summary tab. Note: This will delete all media and data. All settings will be reset as well. If possible, sync iPhone with iTunes before restoring to back up your most recent settings.
    Hope this helps,
    Jennifer B.

  • Nano 7 screen goes off when music plays

I purchased the Nano 7 to days ago and trying to get it set up.
I can't get the screen to stay on so I can see names of artists/songs.  Once music starts, screen goes dark.  Can anyone tell me how to fix it?  Thanks

To save on battery power the Nano will dim automatically after 20 seconds of inactivity, and then the the backlight will turn off.  To light up the screen again press the Sleep/Wake button quickly, which is the On/Off button.  I've noticed on my Nano 7th gen, I can awaken the screen by pressing the Home button as well.
Also, I've noticed on my Nano that if I want to know the names of the songs/artists while the screen is dark, I can press and hold the play button on the side, and the Nano will speak the names of the song and artist to me.

    Hi zayedkhan2003,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
To troubleshoot this issue where you're experiencing erratic touchscreen behavior, please follow the troubleshooting below.
    Restart your device
Hold the On/Off button until "slide to power off" appears. Slide to power off your device. When it is off, press the On/Off button to turn it back on.
If you can't restart your device, reset it by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for a least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
Clean the screen with a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth.
Avoid using the device while wearing gloves, with wet hands, or immediately after applying hand lotion.
If you have a protective case, or if you are using a plastic sheet or film on the display, try removing them and testing the device without it.
If the steps above don't resolve your issue, please schedule a service appointment with an Apple Retail Store for evaluation. If an Apple Retail store is not an option, contact Apple to find out your best service option or see the Service FAQ for your product.

  • Speakable items unusable when music playing

    Hi,
I would love to get speakable items working with itunes. I've found a couple of scripts that work with itunes (play music and next track...incidentally why did Apple not include speakable item scripts for the ilife suite?? )
However, if music is playing, the microphone becomes unusable because it is picking up the music in a feedback loop i guess. Couldn't it be possible for the computer to realise that it is playing music, generate the anti-form of the soundwave and add that to the mic input to effectively cancel out the music, then the voice of the user should be able to be recognised.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?
    Ben

try using an external microphone that has a "background noise cancelling" capability... this "should" solve your problem....
From an earlier post I made:
Does the microphone have built in noise cancellation? Noise cancelling requires power to function. Without enough power, the microphone won't be as sensitive as it's supposed to be and won't work properly.
An "analogue" microphone, with noise cancelling, is often powered by an onboard battery (either in the microphone or in an on/off switch on the audio cable). Replacing the battery (small cheap hearing aid or watch type) restores the microphones sensitivity. Be sure you turn the microphone off when your not using it or you will drain your battery and have the same problem again.
A "Digital" microphone usually draws its power from the device it is plugged into. There shouldn't be any batteries to mess with (but take a look anyway just to be sure). If the problem microphone doesn't work in other devices, the problems probably with the mic. If you have problems with other USB devices you plug into your Mac, the problem is more than likely not your mic.

  • My ipad mini speakes crackile when they play sounds

I just got on my ipad and played some music. The voices in the song are clear but they music in the background is horrible. Whats wrong?

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased.
To solve some sound problems, just follow these simple steps
    1. Go to Settings
    2. Tap on General
    3. Tap on Reset
    4. Tap on Reset All Settings
If the above doesn't work,Take it to an Apple Store for evaluation.

  • Why does apple tv drop out when music playing but movies ok ?

wifi signal is 3 from 5 so seems ok
    movies play back ok
music replay will drop out/stop occasionally
playing from my macbook pro and itunes

The Apple TV is connected to my network on ethernet. After the Apple TV has restarted it will work for a while until it is either unselected from AirPlay or until after the movie is finished and I have disconnected it from home sharing.  It's just inconvenient to have to restart it every time you want to use it.

  • Crackling when playing

hey i get crackling when i play audio cds and sounds like the vocals are really low can anyone tell me how to fix it's maybe a reverb prob or something?

what kind of soundcard do you have? try going to system sounds and set 'cd line in' to mute. im pretty sure it doesn't control the sound from any cd you put in your dri've. but it certainly helps to nullify scratchiness

IPhone 4S cannot hear music playing cannot turn down volume or in control center... PLEASE HELP!!

I asked that question in regards to your comment about a red zone in volume. I do not have that on my phone.
You state that you have already done a restore, so the only other step in troubleshooting is to make an appointment at the Genius Bar to have the device checked by Apple.
