IPhone speakerphone

I connected my iPhone to a cassette adapter in my vehicle to play my iTunes. It worked fine, only after unplugging it, my iPhone still recognizes the adapter as if there are headphones plugged in. I can only use my phone on speakerphone. Does anyone now how to communicate to the iPhone that there are no headphones plugged in and enable the regular use of the phone, rather than only being able to use speakerphone?
Thanks for any help!

Plug and unplug your headphones 7 or 8 times. The iPhone thinks headphones are still plugged in.

  • IPhone Speakerphone Issue...

Been searching the internet and just can't seem to find a fix so I thought I would ask it here.  People have reported to not hearing me whenever I am using the speakerphone option in a call on my iPhone 4.  I did not think anything of it until I started watching some videos I took last night and realized all of them have voice, but it is so faint that my phone requires me to turn the volume all the way up to hear noise.  Anyone know any fixes to this? If not is there anyway I could maybe "downgrade" my phone to get these things working again until they have a st

  • Iphone speakerphone too low

    Greetings,
Is there a way to make the iphone louder when talking to someone on speakerphone? I noticed when I listen to music, it's quite loud, but not on speakerphone. Thanks.
    Ibook 1.2GHZ 12   Mac OS X (10.4.4)   Also own a PC

Music plays out your iPhone plenty loud, correct? For some mysterious reason the speakerphone doesn't go as loud.
Let me clear this up once and for all. The proximity of the speaker and mic produce an echo, even at very low speakerphone volume levels. If the speakerphone were to go any louder, as the phone is right now - the echo would be just insane. Perhaps they can code some sort of noise cancellation or something to help mitigate this, I don't know. For the time being, I suspect the speakerphone will remain quieter than it could/should be.

  • IPhone speakerphone problem

When i make/recieve a call, iPhone works properly, but when i press speakerphone button, i can hear the other side, but they can't hear me.When i turn speakerphone off again, the phone works properly. What's happened?

i have the same exact, problem.. everything works fine on my phone except when i hit speakerphone, the call cuts off and the phone loses service for anywhere from 10 seconds to several minutes. About half the time the speaker screeches a very loud annoying noise until the call disconnects a few laggy seconds later....i have tried restore but no avail...my phone was jailbroken before tho, and one day just stopped having service 98% of the time, and the speakerphone stopped working then too. so after a week of getting 50 text messages all at once every half hour i did a restore which erased the jailbreak, fixed the bad service problem, but speakerphone still triggers this reaction...anybody know why or how to fix it?

  • IPhone speakerphone not working

My iPhone 4 is having this obnoious issue:
When I turn on the speakerphone, the other party doesn't hear me unless I yell into the phone, and even then they only sometimes hear me. When speakerphone is off, they hear me perfectly fine. I took a video, and the sound is also slim to none. Very very low volume.
    Anything I can do?

What iOS version are you on? If you can update to a newer version I would reccomend trying that. You can also try hard booting your phone. (Holding Home and Power until the Apple Logo appears) I had the same problem a year ago. I brought it to Apple and they did a few tests and found out it was a hardware issue. They replaced it for free. Before they did that though, they told me to restore and update, which I did, but it didn't make a difference. Which is why they replaced it.

  • My review of the difference between the original and 3G iphones

I stood on line to get the 1st iPhone last year, and did it again this year.
Heres a list of my comparisons for those of you interested!
First of all, Apple and AT&T really screwed selling this one up and updating, but Im not going to beat a dead horse. Lets just say even the most novice tech at any company could have told you this was going to happen. What ID10T decided to put out iTunes 7.7, the 2.0 Update, MobileMe, and sell the iPhone which will need to be activated over their servers all AT THE SAME TIME, well its beyond me. Saw this one coming 40 miles away.
3G allows you to talk on the phone and browse the internet at the same time. This is a great thing, if you are talking to someone on the phone and need to look up a number or location for the discussion, you couldnt. now you can. Excellent!
Sound quality is much better on 3G. Very clear.
Speakerphone is actually usable on this phone! Not sure if thats the 2.0 software or the new phone, or a combination, but I held my first good conversation on an iPhone speakerphone in over a year. Woot!
Assisted GPS is awesome! It pinpointed my location in an apartment building, and followed me around a large pool as I walked around it. Overlaying the satelite image over the map is very cool too, you can exactly where you are! Driving with it, it was spot on. THe map showed me passing roads just as I was physically passing them. Once Tom Tom or someone comes out with navi software for the iPhone, this will be truly even MORE useful, but its great right now.
3G compared to Edge signal. Well, 3G where I live is ok, but if you go in an area where the 3G signal drops a bit, but the phone doesnt yet switch to Edge, you WILL miss calls. I tested it. Went into a building in an area where 3G signal was low, and once I went in the phone didnt quite know to switch to edge, and a friend outside the store called me and my phone didnt ring. Got out of the store and got the voicemail. Switched to Edge, went into the store, and got the call no problem.
I dont like that you cant use the dock from the old phone, especially since I have the Apple headset combination dock, and now thats useless. I have to have 2 things plugged in now for the headset and phone.
The apps rock. The games are great. Spent already about $35 and Im not done, Im choosing things carefully so that if I pay for something I dont get bored of it easily. Love the Yellow Pages app, box office app, those are hugely useful. 300 Bowl I downloaded, dont think thats a keep though. Kinda only if you are really bored.
Not sure about battery life yet. Ill tell you tho, last night before it got a real full overnight charge, I played a few games, talked on it a bit, tested the internet, and boy did that battery bar sink.
The last 2 things I would personally want on this to make it complete in my mind as everything I could absolutely want would be MMS (still cant believe its not on here!) and a REAL version of Yahoo messenger. One that stays connected once I launch it.
I sold my other iPhone while I was waiting in line for the new one, so basically paid $50 fo the upgrade to the 3G so the hit to my pocket wasnt too bad, but not super happy with the extra $10 a month, but eh.
All in all, much improved. There will always be things you want and things to complain about, but with the exception of the two above mentioned items, this phone, er computer, er PDA, er navigator, er web browser, is everything I want.
MobileMe by the way works flawlessly. I do wish there was a way to have it work with another email address other then the .me address, but it still maintains calendar and contacts. Kinda fun putting in a new contact and watching it populate on my outlook on my calendar a short time later. The email app on the iPhone still works the same as it did and that was fine for me. I have no intention of switching to the me.com address, Im too deeply rooted in my gmail account. I know you can forward and stuff, but not the same.
Anyway, if you have questions or want me to check something out, let me know! Hope this helps deciding if you want the new one or not if you are an owner of the original!

for the old dock, is the phone to big or to small to be stable?
i was thinking about just putting a little tape or something in the back of the dock if it was to thin or getting a universal dock adapter and trimming it to make the old dock have the contour

  • I feel silly: Music plays only thru iPhone, not Bose speaker, when docked

Hi--I've read the threads on the Bose Sound Dock and they seem to conclude that yes, the iPhone is compatible with the Sound Dock as long as you put it in Airplane Mode. No problem with that--but when I dock it, the sound is still coming only from the iPhone speakerphone and not the Bose.
    What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks.
    8gb   Windows XP

My iPhone works fine with the Bose speakers. When the Iphone prompts you on whether or not you want to go into airport mode, say NO.
Also, the iPhone works in my 5th gen IPod cradle that I have hooked up in the car via RCA jacks into the AUX portion of the radio. No problems what-so-ever!
Both of these charge the iPhone.

  • Identified a design flaw in the iPhone

i was on the iPhone speakerphone with my parents and suddenly this mentally troubled girl i know sends me a message consisting of a single 3 letter expletive. i get the popup saying reply/cancel i press cancel.
she sends it again - i cancel it again. and again and again on like 4th time i accidentally end the call with my parents.
so i am trying to call them back but at this point she starts repeating the word every second or so so i am constantly getting the popup reply/cancel so i keep pressing cancel but before the screen cancels the new popup is there and the transparent glass popup takes the entire screen so i can't access the phone buttons to call my parents back.
now my parents are calling me and i am trying to pick up the phone but the crazy girl is still firing away at about 40 messages per minute.
long story short i was unable to either pick up on my parents or call them back until she stopped about 2 minutes later.
    it was VERY frustrating ! ! !
this is unacceptable. i cannot lose control of my cell phone the second somebody starts texting me !
the interface must be redesigned such that the reply/cancel popup doesn't block the rest of the screen. instead it should appear as a bar on top or bottom of the screen and the rest of the screen should compress a bit so u can still go about your business while the crazy people are having a breakdown.
what if i was in a car using iphone as a GPS ? i might have gotten killed.
    serious serious flaw !

Read between the lines, people. You're missing the point: the Text Message Popup Window interferes with normal operation of an application that is in use. IE: GPS mapping software....which is probably most useful while driving, no? The OP's point was that if he was trying to use some kind of GPS MAPPING while driving, the text message popups will get in the way of that use. The app still works, yes, but it's more, unnecessary buttons to push...
I agree that at times the Text Popup can be problematic and a less intrusive alert window should be considered. I wouldn't call it a serious design flaw, though. It's just Apple not fully considering usability under certain conditions.

  • Volume Drop Problem (changes depending on how held)

The speaker volume on my iPhone changes depending on how it's being held. I surely hope this isn't considered a "feature". Held at a diagonal angle tilted backward, the volume drops considerably. It seems to play normal only when fully flat, or vertical.
Anyone else have this problem also? I'm considering exchanging it for another.

Don't you think it might just be a little useful to know what normally happens? I mean, you do realize that some phones sound silent when you tilt them a mm, while other phones sound almost the same no matter where you hold them. You do get that the difference in volume for the iPhone speakerphone when placed on a solid surface is much more dramatic than the changes in volume most other phones have due to placement, thus it's not something everybody thinks of right away.
Nobody tried to tell you that the sound waves were effected by gravity and the phone would be louder if you held it over your head right?
Read the first post again and think about it; 'speaker' refers to any sound emitting device like the 'headset', 'earpiece', or 'speakerphone speaker'...which you might even call the 'speaker speaker' or just 'speaker', regardless of how you define the parts; other people toss around the terms as if they are interchangeable. The post just says speaker.
If you are so bright then why are you asking a question at all? You know that if you move your body and the phone at the same time the volume shouldn't change. I mean..sure gravity does make the soundwaves drop quicker and all that so when you walk up an angled driveway the phone needs to adjust the volume, but that's only a little bit...not 'considerably' right?
Let's think for a second (or less for some of us). First, 'I was concerned some engineer mightve mistakenly thought of this as some cockamami "feature"'. Know what? It's a good idea. I wouldn't half mind a phone that could adjust the volume when I moved it to or from my ear or body. Seamlessly changing from the EARPIECE to the SPEAKER would be a great thing too. Things like switching from the bluetooth HEADSET to the SPEAKER are nice touches. I think you have an advanced model or a special feature.
It's also a little difficult for people to know how much your phone changes in volume when they can't hear it. It's not like there's a recording or some empirical data like 'hey, when I tilt my phone at a 45 degree angle it drops 20 decibels'.
As to 'reflected acoustics?!?!', I think the post starts with "speaker volume" and continues to 'when fully flat, or vertical'. Fully flat sounds like your phone is sitting on a table, shelf, or the floor and since I don't put my phone on a block then lay down on the floor with my ear above it to make a call I think the description sounds more like the speakerphone portion than the ear 'speaker'. Stating what the SPEAKER should do when normally performing in answer to a question should be considered informative and useful because : If you knew what the speaker was supposed to do you would not have asked.
Yeah, you never know who is using an iPhone or posting in the forums, but it doesn't take very long to read through the posts and find the information you want when you post a clear question in the first place.
I don't consider my phone a derogatory TLA, but if that's what you think of the product then I hope you enjoy your old phone.
Don't let the bass fall on your foot on the way out.

  • When I downloaded iOS 6 or whatever to my iPhone 4S, it took away my sounds like texting, ringtones, iTunes, and speakerphone. What do I do

When I downloaded iOS 6 or whatever to my iPhone 4S, it took away my sounds like texting, ringtones, iTunes, and speakerphone. What do I do?

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Has any of this been tried?

  • Why is the speakerphone so low in iPhone 3GS?

Why is the speakerphone so low in iPhone 3GS? I have a maximum volume still it is not clear, Is there a way to increase it by any other method?

I have the same issue. Low volume while using speakerphone function. At 1' (30cm) it measures at almost half the dB of a blackberry pearl speakerphone. Basically renders the speakerphone function unusable in anything but the quietest environments, and even then its questionable. There are several people in the office I work at that have a 3G and 3GS phones. 3G phones tend to be a bit better but still quiet compared to Motorola, Nokia, and Blackberries. The other 3GS phones were just as bad as mine. This is definitely not a user error.

  • HT204368 is the MOTOROLA Roadster 2 Universal Bluetooth In-Car Speakerphone compatible with the Iphone?

Is the MOTOROLA® Roadster 2 Universal Bluetooth In-Car Speakerphone compatible with the Iphone?

Roadster 2 does NOT work well with the iPhone 5  s, has to be unlocked for Seri to work. An older Motorola blue tooth device the T 325 does work fine, speaker is not as great as the Roadster. It is cheaper and simpler. Verizon, who sold me the iPhone and Roadster does not seem to know this, I'll be returning the Roadster ASAP. This was the second unit Verizon sold me, the first only announced the number calling and could not access my contacts.

  • Hi, Why my iPhone 4s answer in speakerphone

    Hi
I just activated my iPhone 4s and when I call or receive a call the phone activates the speakerphone automatically even if I have a headset connected.
When I click on speaker phone button it doesn't connect either to headset or normal speaker.
I appreciate if someone can help or if you are facing the same issue

From what a read it's a hardware issue and maybe you are unlucky to get two faulty phones in a row. I think they should replace it for you again.
I have done all the trickes in the book but with no luck.
I took back and got a new one and running smoothly with the wired headset and my car bluetooth.
Hope I don't get another surprise.
    All the best

  • What peripherals do you need to turn your iPhone into a conference room speakerphone?

What peripherals do you need to turn your iPhone into a conference room speakerphone system?
If you buy a separate conference mic and a speaker, can they somehow work together off the iPhone headphone jack like a huge set of group earphones?  What if you want to connect 2 mics and a speaker?
Do you have to be very careful that they can all be attached somehow at the same time?
Are there reasonably priced conference room speakerphone peripherals the work well together that you would recommend?
    Steve

Why don't you contact Apple and find out?  Certainly if you can find your way around the internet to have been able to find this forum, you can certainly find the number for AppleCare.
