  • I was given a brand new iPhone yesterday and it wont play music, text tones or slide and keypad tones when it is on charge?

My iPhone was brand new yesterday. I took it home and put it on charge and when I went to play music it wouldnt play the sound even thought the song was playing. It also wouldnt let me listen to any tones when I went to change my text tone but if the phone rings then the ringtone will play. This is really frustrating, I had to get a brand new one as the one that I was given the day before had previously been blacklisted for some unknown reason. PLEASE HELP!!

Are you using the UsB/Charging lead that came with the iPhone
I have this issue when charging my phone in the car when using the lead supplied with the Head Unit.
This is due to the USB lead having the Audio connections present (for playing through the stereo)
The downside to this being that the phone will not play any sounds out of the built in speakers as all audio is routed through the stereo

  • My ipod touch 4th generation wont play music

My ipod touch 4th generation wont play music. I hit the play button and it turns into a pause button but the music does not play and the song length thing stays at 0:00. It is brand new and has not been damaged. No songs are greyed out. Certain songs play but most dont. Please help.

I have same issue with iPad3.  all songs play great, both songs I have downloaded and ones on iPad, except 2 albums by same artist that I bought from iTunes.  maybe more, but I have not found any others that seemingly hang exactly as you describe at 0.00 seconds and with pause button displayed.
mindful meditation in everyday life and mindful meditation workshop....Jon-kabat zinn.  I can play these on my iPhone which is on same account without issue.
I also checked console and don't see any relevant messages.
    I have restarted.
I have not restored from backup, but I did do a complete restore a few days ago....I had lost my ipad(left in cart at Walmart), so sent remote wipe command....but got it back!  iCloud restore was perfect.  I takes a while, so hoping to avoid another restore and would rather find the issue.
    please advise.
    thanks,
    phil

  • IPod Touch wont play music or connet to iTunes!

My ipod touch wont play music through the headphones or docking station, it only plays music through the actual iPod and it isnt found when i connect to itunes, help!

    - Try here for getting iTunes to see the iPOd:
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    - Try resetting for the other problem:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - The try restoring, first from backup and if problem persists, restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

  • AE wont play music... Airtunes

Hello forum!!! my setup a 2TB Time Capsule and 2 Airport Express that are extending my network via wifi. my problem is that both AE wont play music.. i have to restart both AE or just unplug them to work. In itunes i do select the speaker and it says it working but no audio output and also it give me an error which i could not find here -16005.
any help would be much appreciated
    Thanks

    Hi.
There have been a number of threads on the topic of iTunes [you don't mention iTunes, but I assume that is what you are using...] no longer being able to connect or play reliably to speakers through AirPort Expresses using AirTunes. This was happening to me as well. [I have no Time Capsule experience so I can't comment on that or possible interactions...]
But re connecting and playing music, I found this thread this morning:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2184595
and this solved it for me immediately.
The solution described turns off IPv6 { in System Preferences > Network [Ethernet] (Adavanced) > [TCP/IP] Configure IPv6 -Off- }, so I don't know if this work around will result in difficulties in a few years time when IPv6 may become unavoidable. [see article: http://www.ipv6actnow.org/info/what-is-ipv6/.
The problem with not being able to connect with iTunes was all the more frustrating because I had no problem connecting to any of my AXes using Rogue Amoeba's Airfoil [http://www.rogueamoeba.com/airfoil>, and still can having turned off IPv6.
*// Airfoil allows you to stream ANY sound source from you Mac to any of your AXes, and also any networked Mac or PC (after installing a free client on those machines...) [I have no affiliation with Rogie Amoeba!] //*
This "IPv6 Off" fix also allows Remote on the iPhone to work properly again.
    Hope this helps.

  • My i phone wont play music

My Iphone wont play music and only vibrates for text and email alerts, but strangely enough it still rings! Is this fixable at all?

Ok i think i have found out how to do it. Unplug your i phone, go to settings and then reset then reset all data and settings. This will warn you that it is going to erase eveything on your phone.
DO NOT BACK UP BEFORE HAND
then restart your phone and restore back up from when you donwloaded the new IOS5. This should sort out your problem :-)

  • The sound on my iPhone 4S cuts out when playing music/podcasts.

The sound on my iPhone 4S cuts out when playing music/podcasts.  If I unplug and replug in the headphones, the sound comes back on, but often for only 20 seconds or so before cutting out again.  Sometimes it will play for 15-20minutes before cutting out.  The track is not "paused", and appears to continue, just no sound.  I tried cleaning the headphone jack with compressed air to no avail.  I also noticed the the same phenomenon occurs when I sync my bluetooth to my car audio.  That is, it will play for a while, then the sound will cut out, even though the track is still shown to be playing.  If I reset the bluetooth, the sound comes back on.
This started happening about a week ago, but no "event" that I can think of caused it.  I didnt' get the phone wet, forcefully drop it, or leave it in extreme heat.  I've tried doing a reset of the phone.  I also was running iOS5 when I first noticed this, and since upgraded to iOS6.  The problem appeared with both.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Steve

One thing that helped was getting a toothbrush and scrubbing the dock connector on the phone.  I scrubbed the connector and used compressed air for about 1/2 hour till the connector looked much cleaner.  An Apple employee told me that the pins on the phone had a little corrosion and sand.  The problem hasn't gone away completely, but has been significantly reduced.  I'm going to hold out until my contract expires after which time I'll switch to an iPhone5 (or newer) or Android phone.

    Hello Wade,
This is typically indicative of an issue with the installation of QuickTime on your computer. The following article provides steps for reinstalling QuickTime to resolve the issue.
"iTunes cannot run because it has detected a problem with your audio configuration"
    Resolution
QuickTime may need to be reinstalled. Follow the steps below to uninstall QuickTime and then download and install QuickTime using the QuickTime standalone Installer.
On the Start menu, click Control Panel.
Follow the steps appropriate for your Windows operating system below.
Windows XP and Windows 2000: Open the Add or Remove Programs control panel and selectQuickTime in the list of currently installed programs.
Windows Vista and Windows 7: Click Uninstall a program (or if using Windows Vista's Classic View of the Control Panel, click Programs and Features) and select QuickTime in the list of currently installed programs.
Click the Remove button (or Uninstall for Windows Vista and Windows 7) and follow the prompts to remove QuickTime from your computer.
Download QuickTime. Note: There are two options for downloading QuickTime, be sure to select the option that does not include iTunes.
    During the download:
If you choose to run the installer, proceed to the next step.
If you choose to save the download, double click the QuickTimeInstaller file, then proceed to next step.
Follow the on-screen instructions to install QuickTime.
    Reopen iTunes.

My ipod wont play music solely through ear phones it will only play through the main speaker and the earphones together. Is this able to be fixed??

I am also experiencing some problems with the new software version, I bought the Belkin TuneBase for my car 25 days ago it had been working fine since I upgraded my Ipod 2 days ago, you know that sometimes if you don't get good reception you can change to a diferent preseted station on this Belkin Transmitter but since this Ipod upgrade I can't change to a diferent station and also i can't disconect it like before because before it said you were ok to disconect and I'm afraid to return because perhaps afterall is a software problem.
