How do I make sure that if I am at a friend's home, -using his wifi with my iphone , and he opens itunes, will my iphone sync to his itunes?
Keep in mind that your previous instruction only tells me how to make sure that MY iTunes will not automatically sync to my computer, but does not resolve whether his computer sill auto sync.

Hi there.
I recently upgraded to a new Macbook Pro (late 2010, no thunderbolt) and transferred the info from my old MBP to this one using the migration assistant which copied applications and data.
Now the only way I can get my iphone to sync with itunes is to delete itunes and reinstall it and after a day this stops working so I have to repeat the process. Its almost as if the computer is deleting the Applemobiledevice.pkg and reinstalling itunes reinstalls it.
The computer sees the phone when connected to iphoto and it appears in the system profiler.
Any ideas?
I don't know if its relevant but I noticed yesterday that the Canon EOS software doesn't automatically load either when the camer is connected - like it used to.

MichaelYup! I have exactly the same problem but with iPhone 5 + iOS 7.0.4 + iTunes 11.1.4. I used to create a playlist of podcasts to listen to via the Music app in the car along with music playlists. I can still create the podcast playlist in iTunes and listen to them in iTunes but the playlist does not appear in Music in the phone. In Podcasts they are there although I also get the screenshots above but only on a random selection. There is no playlist facility in Podcasts so I have to pull the car over to move onto the next podcast. In other words the most useful facility for me (catching upon podcasts) in the car is no longer available. Congratulations Apple! I've heard there are 3rd party apps available but haven't found one yet.
Another backward step is the cackhanded procedure one now has to go through when syncing the phone with iTunes. Setting up a podcast playlist is dead simple. Now it is anything but simple. I can only presume that the guys who have worked on this change have never seriosly used an iPhone on the move. -

I have two iphones in my house hold one syncs with my MAC Itunes the other doesn't is there a setting that casues the Iphone to stops syncing with Itunes?
You need to start over with Music. On the iPhone Music screen uncheck sync music. Also, on the Summary screen uncheck "Manually manage music and videos", then sync and it should clear off your phone.
Next, choose the music you want to sync. If you want to fit more on check "Convert higher bit rate songs to 128 kbps AAC". This will reduce quality slightly, but it won't be noticable unless you are using $300 headphones. -
Songs purchased on iPhone through iTunes Store will not show up on iPhone after syncing with iTunes
I recently purchased iTunes Match (about a month ago). Since purchasing Match, any songs that I have bought on my iPhone 4S (32GB, Sprint) through the iTunes Store app will not sync back to my iPhone after syncing with iTunes on my computer. I have iOS 7.1.2 and iTunes 11.3.0.54. The only way I can get them to show back up in my iPhone music library so I can play them is by re-downloading the songs through the iTunes Store app. Which is super annoying because now it is about 10 songs that keep doing this, and they are in multiple playlists. Is anyone else having this problem and have you found any fixes? Really regretting purchasing the iTunes Match (which is not enabled on my iPhone, just on my computer).
How to create custom ringtones ...
1. Open iTunes.
2. Find the song that you want to make into a ringtone.
3. Listen to the song and find the part of it you want to use. The chorus may be a good place to start.
4. Write down the start and stop times of the clip.
5. Right-click the song and select "Get Info."
6. Click the "Options" tab.
7. Type in the start time of your ringtone in the text box next to "Start Time" in the minutes:seconds (i.e., 2:01) format.
8. Type in the end time of your ringtone in the text box next to "Stop Time." Make sure the ringtone is no more than 30 seconds long.
9. Click "OK."
10. Right-click your song again and select "Convert Selection to AAC." Wait for iTunes to convert your song. It will create a duplicate version.
11. Right-click the ringtone and select "Delete."
12. Click on the "Keep Files" button.
13. Find the file. It's usually in your User folder under "Music > iTunes > iTunes Music" and under the band's name. It will have an extension of m4a.
14. Replace the m4a extension of your ringtone with m4r. You can either double-click slowly to rename your file, or right-click and select "Get Info" on a Mac or "Rename" on a Windows PC.
15. Click "Use .m4r" or the PC equivalent when the system warns you that the change may affect the use of your file.
16. Double-click the ringtone file. ITunes will automatically add it to your ringtones folder in your iTunes Music Library.
17. Connect your iPhone and sync your ringtones.
Oh, also to change a file extension. (not sure on Mac), but in Windows you need to go to "control panel" select "folder options". You need to uncheck the box "hide file extension for known file types". This will allow you to view and change the files extensions.

I had my iphone 4s synced to itunes on my work laptop. The IT group at work stripped out that installation and will not allow me to reinstall. My iphone insists it has to sync to my work laptop itunes. How do I change iphone settings to look at an itunes installation on my personal laptop?

By Design the iPhone can Only Sync to One iTunes Library at a time. -

Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive. Open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option (alt) key (shift on Windows), then guide it to the new location of the library.

Ipod touch stopped syncing with itunes since ios 5 upgrade
Can someone PLEASE ADVISE ME!
I spent off and on 24 hours finally getting my ios 5 update on my ipod touch 4g. When i first upgraded itunes to 10.5, when I tried to upgrade to ios5 the udgrade kept crashing. Then my ipod stopped syncing with itunes. Im on a PC with windows 7 (64-bit). So I uninstalled and reinstalled itunes. My ipod coninues to not sync. So, I finally reverted my ipod back to factory settings and then it took like 8 hours total for my ipod to revert, update to ios 5, and then resync my apps, music & vids and settings with itunes. I thought YES EVERYTHING IS GREAT. Starting using ios 5 and was loving it. Till, i wanted to resync with itunes to enable wifi syncing.
Now, everytime i plug in my ipod, it says Syncing my ipod (step 2 of 8) and the stripy thing is moving...and below that it ways Backing up
but then it just keeps saying this for hours. never moves beyond "step 2", So i end up having to open task manager and closing out itunes. Then when i reopen itunes it will freeze up. I uninstalled'reinstalled itunes now 4 times and the same thing happens...the sync never gets beyon step 2...backing up.
WHAT CAN I DO? please help! Desperateah now i see your reply in the thread. well, i am sorry yours wont tuen on or even get recognized. *** is going on with this stuff. i really love the ios5 but if i cant sync with itunes im screwed. i dont want to have to pay for more iCloud storage for backing up either!!!
I really hope someone can advise me. Cuz i fear I may have to try and revert back to factory and spend like 6 or 7 hours again trying to resync and re set up my ipod -

I'm having the same problem. Exept, I ended up wiping out my entire iTunes Library trying to fix it. THE WHOLE THING. And, I have no idea where to get it ...to put it back. I have a terrible, terrible feeling that I am S.O.L. and that I've just lost a whole lot of money....and a whole lot of songs, movies and books. Best of luck to you. (and me, too. ugh, i could cry!)

I had my Iphone in sync with iTunes in my desktop PC. I had purchased musics from iTunes Store and musics I did transfer from original CDs (legacy ones). I no longer have my CDs once I did donate it to a public library. How can I recover my whole music assests on Iphone to my iTunes in my notebook PC ? At this time I only know how to transfer Apple Store purchased items.
iTunes will only import music purchased from the iTunes store. If you need to import music to iTunes from your phone that wasn't purchased from iTunes you will need to use 3rd party software to do so, such as Touch Copy.

Connect your device, select it in the left-hand column, then change the settings on the various tabs to sync the media content your library to the device. Anything already on it may be removed. If that would be a problem see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

I can't get my iPhone 4s or my iPad 2 to sync with itunes on my pc. My very ancient ipod nano works fine. I get told that the version of itunes is too old. I have tried on 3 occasions to download the update, and while it doesn't say there has been a problem with the download I continue to get the same message. I do get a warning that itunes is not properly installed and that i won't be able to burn cds. I have tried uninstalling itunes completely and reinstalling but that doesn't work either.
does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?Have you run windows update? That could prevent iTunes from properly installing. Also, try with your antiVirus and firewall disabled. What version of Windows are you running?
