IPhone stopped showing up in itunes

I recently updated itunes to the newest one and did some software updates on my computer. After doing these my iphone only is showing up as a camera, and does not come up in itunes. I reinstalled itunes but it still does not show up. Does anyone know of anything i can do?

If restarting apple mobile device does not work, you might need to completely remove itunes and reinstall.
Here is an article from the apple support website that might help out.

  • IPhone stopped showing up in iTunes this morning?! Help!!!

I have been trying to sync my iPhone with my computer since 8am this morning. Everyting worked fine until then, the phone has been previously synced and everything worked well. There were no installations on either system prior to this problem manifesting itself.
I have tried restarting both the phone and the computer, unplugging and re-connecting the USB cable, uninstalling reinstalling iTunes, and further re-installing my O.S. from scratch... to no avail. I am no further along than a 8am this morning.
A file named "MerpAD Sync Services" keeps finding its way into my trash bin too. Google searches seem to indicate that this belongs to Microsoft Entourage? Don't know if that matters, but it doesn't go away. I am more concerned with syncing my iPhone.
    Any ideas? Help!

    Ok, so here's an update:
    Upon many incessant hours of screwing around I have discovered that removing the file;
    home/library/preferences/ByHost/com.apple.iTunes.97B645A9-18A5-5293-ACB7-1E87ADE 038A4.plist
restores my ability to sync my iPhone, however, there are a whole slew of other problems that have reered their ugly heads. Desktop icons keep disappearing, iTunes can't seem to find its music folder and tells me to look where it already is, Apple DVD player gives me an "error: -108".
Any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • First my iphone was showing up in itunes. Then it wasn't and I couldn't sync it. Now when I plug it in, it shows up as my ipad. Can someone help me, please?

My iphone showed up just fine on itunes. So did my ipad. Then my iphone stopped being recognized by itunes. Now when I plug it in itunes sees it as my ipad.    Can someone help me to get it back the way it should be?
    Thanks.

    Hi, Shadiamond Murray.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Sometimes a simple power cycle of the router can correct the issue that you are experiencing.  However, the issue could be a little more complex.  Wi-Fi routers need adjustments to settings periodically for optimized performance with the constant progression of wireless device technology.  Below, I have included two articles.  The first article will cover basic Wi-Fi troubleshooting regarding iOS device connection.  The second article cover the recommended settings for current Wi-Fi access points.

Check your System Profiler to see if your computer is recognizing them. You may need to reset the computers SMC.

iphone keeps showing connect to itunes logo

Put the iPhone into DFU mode. Open iTunes on computer you usually sync with and connect the phone. Hold both home and power buttons for exactly 10 seconds, release power button, keep holding home button until iTunes recognizes an iPhone in Recovery Mode. Then just recover from the last backup.

  • Why isnt my iphone icon showing up in itunes

why isnt my iphone icon showing up in itunes when I plug it into my computer

Since you got a new MBP, does it have Lion or Mountain Lion, and what version of iTunes?
If current it should see the iPhone.  If it will not, try attaching in recovery mode, start iTunes, connect the USB end of the cable, then while holding the home button on the iPhone connect the dock connector end of the cable to the iPhone...should put it in recovery mode and iTunes should then see it.
Don't go to restore from backup since you don't have that on this computer.  You can backup and update the iOS.

  • IPhone 4S has stopped showing up in iTunes devices, but does show in iPhoto?

Recently had permission issues with i7 27" Mac running newest mavericks (10.9.5). After fixing permissions my iPhone 4S no longer shows up in iTunes, but I still can see it as a device in my Apple iTunes acct. and it does show (and upload photos) to iPhoto. I'm stumped. Have reset Location and Network settings on phone, computer asks to Trust device and I press Trust, but it still does not show. Tried several USB cords, but they all work with iPhoto, but still no device in iTunes.
A little help would be appreciated!

    Hello there, stanphoto.
The following Knowledge Base article offers some great and practical steps for troubleshooting your iOS device not being recognized in iTunes for OS X:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for OS X
Follow these steps to resolve your issue:
If you haven't connected your iOS device to this computer before, unlock the device and tap Trust. Learn more about the Trust This Computer alert.
    Restart your iOS device.
    Restart your Mac.
Make sure that your Mac meets the minimum system requirements for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
Install software updates on your Mac.
If an iTunes update is available, apply the update.
Check USB connections. iOS devices need USB 2.0 to work properly. If you're not sure your Mac has USB 2.0 ports, check the computer's specifications.
Disconnect other USB devices and connect your device directly to a USB port on your Mac.
    Try another USB cable.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • IPhone not showing up in iTunes or shows up as "imaging device" - Win XP

SOOO glad I waited in line for several hours today!!!
Anyone having issues with getting the iPhone to show up on a Win XP Pro machine??? I have tried to get the iphone working on two separate laptops, one a Dell M70 and the other a Dell M60, both Win XP Pro SP2.
I've gone thru all the self help steps, including re-installing iTunes. I downloaded it today.
On the M70... the device is recognized by Windows, but the computer treats it as an "imaging device" and iTunes does not find it.
On the M60... the device isn't even found. when I plug it in, I get a weird quick double beep sound, as opposed to the normal sound when plugging in a device to the USB port. About 30 seconds later, it makes the disconnect sound. All the while without disconnecting.
I'm thinking this sounds like a lovely trip back to the Apple store tomorrow. Oh joy.
Dell Precision M60 and M70   Windows XP Pro   XP Pro SP2

I saw this too - but closing iTunes and re-plugging the phone seemed to work for me. I seem to have the best luck when I plug in the phone with iTunes not running and allow it to open after the iPhone is connected...
    Good Luck!

  • Iphone not showing up in itunes & not connecting to computer

    Rite...
When i plug my iphone into my computer (WinXP, SP2) via the dock and straight from the USB cable, it does not show up in iTunes, Windows does not recognise it as a USB device and the camera pop doesnt show up. Basically Windows isn't recognising it at all.
    I've tried:
    restarting my computer.
    reinstalling itunes.
creating a new account on my pc, installing itunes and seeing if it connects; it did and worked fine, i logged out and and back onto my own profile, my iphone showed up and synched fine. I then restarted and the same problem occurred.
I've tried it in all my USB ports, and none want to read it. I have also tried other USB devices, which also don't want to be recognised. This wasn't the case a couple of days ago.
Also my iphone docked and synched fine after the upgrade both to itunes and the iphone.
Anyone else having this problem? I think it's a general USB problem with my PC, anyone have any ideas.
    Argh it's annoying!!

    I tried this:
"The problem seems to be that the install process treats everything PC like a Vista machine. If you go to C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRVSTORE you'll find an oddly named directory inside it like usbaapl_A65621D65F5B7507DD7B22331826547BDD2D206B.
    Go into it. You'll find USBAAPL.CAT, usbaapl.inf and usbaapl.sys.
What I did was right click on the .inf file and pick install (don't know for sure if it needed that, but I'm not going to omit any steps just in case).
Open up C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers and copy the usbaapl.sys file there.
Open up C:\WINDOWS\inf and copy usbaapl.inf there.
Again I right clicked on the .inf file copy in the C:\WINDOWS\inf directory and hit install. It then created the corresponding usbaapl.PNF in that directory.
I unplugged the pod from the usb port, rebooted the system, plugged the pod in again and voila, there it was. It found it and installed correctly"
    Which didn't work.
    - My iphone appears in the Services under 'Apple Mobile Device Service'
    - I can't verify the iphones driver because nothing is showing up in device drivers/managment
    -I have USB 2.0

  • How do I get my Iphone to show up in Itunes when I plug it into my computer?

    Hello,
I am having trouble getting my Iphone to connect with my computer.  I just authorized my computer to my account, but my phone won't show up in itunes.  Does anybody know how to get it to connect with itunes?
    Thanks

Version 11.1.5.5 of iTunes was just released today. If you update to that, does that help with the recognition troubles?

  • How do i get my iphone to show up in itunes

I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes and tried everything else, but my iPhone will not show up in iTunes. How do I fix this?

--If your on a desktop then plug it into the back of the computer, otherwise just try other ports
    --Try other cords
--May need to update driver software. You can google that depending on what version of windows you have.
--Otherwise here is an article to go through. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
