Iphone stuck in headphone mode- speaker not working

They keep saying not many people are reporting this, so I thought I'd throw my two cents in:
I'm on the phone- suddenly silence, but the call continues. If I hit speakerphone, that works and they're still there. I turn off speaker phone, they're gone. BUT if I turn the volume up, it says "headphones" AHH it thinks there are headphones plugged in.
On the newer macs, there's a switch that can tell if a jack is plugged in and it can stick- you can have to insert a jack pointing down to hit that switch (to make the laser stop coming out of the jack)
On the phone, they tell you to jam a phone jack in and out several times before giving up and resetting the phone. I get that to work sometimes, but it shouldn't happen...

Okay, I had a similar issue with my phone about a month and a half ago. If you're like me and explore every aspect of the iPhone, then you're taking the headphones out and putting them back in a lot. I found that my higher brain can still in fact control the iPhone, although incredibly sophisticated. If you take your headphones or any other TTY jack and put it in and out of the iPhone jack rapidly over and over again it should solve the issue. I had only to put it in and out about 6-10 times, but I'm sure I overkilled it =)...I have never had the same problem with my phone...That should work, but if not then it might be a more serious issue.

  • IPhone stuck in "headphones" mode....

My iPhone appears to be stuck in "headphones" mode. Sound works fine through headphones when they're plugged in, but when headphones aren't plugged in, I get no sound at all from the phone. When I adjust the volume with the buttons on the side, the display says "Ringer (headphones)." Help!

I had exactly the same experience as Spartan95. My iPhone got stuck in headphones mode just before a business trip, and stayed that way for 2 weeks before I could get to the Genius Bar. I tried resetting, compressed air, restoring... and nothing worked. The Genius attempted a restore in the store, and when that didn't solve the issue, handed me a new phone. Too bad there isn't a manual software "switch" available in the phone's options panel. Oh, well....

  • Iphone stuck in headphone mode - swapped cables, still the same problem!

The silent switch on my iPhone had stopped working so I bought a new housing from ebay and decided to swap the back around at the same time.
I noticed the little switch on the silent button had broken on the old one, so bought a new jack cable.
Put it all back together and the silent switch and everything is working fine apart from the phone thinking it's in headphone mode when it isn't
I've tried all of the fixes and nothing works. I was hoping it was a faulty cable, so asked the guy to send a new one. That arrives this morning and it is exactly the same 'Headphone Mode'
I've just plugged the old cable in and it's saying the same thing, even though it didn't before.
Does anyone have ANY idea what else I could try? It doesn't seem like it's a problem with the actual cable so I'm hoping it's nothing too drastic.
    Please help!
    Cheers

Does anyone have any other ideas? I've just installed 3.1 on the phone and no difference. Really don't know what else to try.
Somebody else mentioned the two different types of jack cable for the 2g iPhone one that was the reverse, but why would my original cable still think the headphones are in when they're not
Any help would be much appreciated!

  • Ringer still works on the headphone mode but not working at normal or music mode

When I turned on music apps to play music, on the screen of MUSIC does not have the "sound bar" to setting the volume however when I use the RECORDING I can hear the record in the SPEAKER mode and when I back to home screen, the bromlem happened again... When I use the headphone, it works, and the level bar is there. I'm really upset about this. Who has same problem with me? I never change anything about the sound. My iphone is 4s version and use the newest update, 6.0.1

    Hi,
you should consider three  things if your java instance is on network.
    1. SLD ( check if java instance is listed on SLD and test the connection from portal to SLD.
    2. You need an entry in the services files of both the Java and ABAP servers as such:
    sapms<SID>  3600/tcp
Remember to always have a blank line at the bottom of the services file!
    3. try to add the certificate in portal.
if you can provide with the exact error message it would be easy to help.
    Kind regards,
    vamsi.

  • Iphone stuck in headphone mode

    Hi,
I have seen that I'am not the only one with this issue.
I'am quite sure that this is not a hardware issue on my iphone 5, because my workaround is to turn the phone off/on. Then it works fine until I connect headphone again. Quite annoying..
This seems to have happened after a update

    1)  Try This...
Close All Open Apps... Sign Out of your Account... Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...
    2)  If the issue persists...
Connect to iTunes on the computer you usually Sync with and Restore

Make sure you have the Latest Version of iTunes (v11) Installed on your computer

I figurered out the easiest way to fix this annoying problem...
    1. Go to SETTINGS
    2. SOUNDS
    3. Turn ringer all the way down
    4. Turn ringer back to desired setting
Should go back to audible ring.

    Try This...
Close All Open Apps...  Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

  • My iPhone seems to be stuck in headphone mode.  I tried plugging in and unplugging the earbuds several times, but it still does not work.  Any other suggestsions?

My iPhone seems to be stuck in headphone mode.  I already tried plugging and unplugging my headphones, but it still is stuck in headphone mode.  What can I try next?

I've read other methods but they didn't work for me.
You can try cleaning the jack with a q tip, blowing into the jack and then pulling in and out the headphones (thi worked for my friend).
The toothpick trick which i got from this link here : http://science.opposingviews.com/turn-headphone-mode-off-iphones-15782.html
Ive also heard although it isn't the best, using an air compressor to clean out any gunk in the jack that can help aswell.
I'm utterly frusturated at this point. I'm just going to go to the Apple Store and see what they have to say. If of these at home remedies don't work i suggest you do to and brace yourself for repair costs.
    Best of luck

  • Speaker problem "stuck" to headphone-mode ?

Got some problems with the speaker right now.. I can't hear the person calling me.. But if I use headphones it will work.. It's like the phone is stuck to headphone-mode, or what to say, Can't hear music from spotify/youtube from the speaker, I can listen to the ringtones in the settings, But i can't listen to music / hear people calling me..
I have restarted the phone like 5 times and nothing happens,. I also tried to reset the phone..
Anyone got the same problem ?.

Check the headphone jack for debris one more time. The symptoms certainly suggest that debris is the cause. Shine a light down in there.(Be Careful)
Restore "As a New Device". The backup can put a glitch back on the phone. If that does not work, use your warranty. If you are out of warranty, restore again and unplug to test before choosing from backup or as new(sometimes corrupted data on the iphone can cause strnage behavior).
If all else fails check on price of out of warranty repair.

  • My phone is stuck in headphone mode and nothing is working!  Help!

My IPhone 4S is stuck in headphone mode.  I have tried everything from putting my phone in rice overnight, blowing and sucking air in the headphone jack, and hard resetting it but nothing is working!  Please help!!

    Hello manhay,
The following article provides some additional troubleshooting that can help restore audio to your iPhone's speaker.
Verify that the volume is set to a level you would normally be able to hear.
Ensure that there is nothing plugged in to the headset jack or the dock connector.
If the iPhone is in a protective case, make sure that the speaker port isn't blocked by the case.
Make sure that the speaker and dock port aren't clogged with debris. If necessary, clean it with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush. Carefully and gently brush away any debris.
If an audio issue occurs when using a specific application, try testing other applications to see if the issue persists.
If the iPhone is paired with a Bluetooth headset or car kit:
    Try turning off Bluetooth.
If you experience difficulties with the Bluetooth feature, follow these troubleshooting steps.
    Restart the iPhone.
If restarting doesn't fix the issue, ensure that your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS.
If the issue is not resolved after restoring the iPhone software, please contact Apple Support.

  • IPhone 5s stuck in headphone mode

So when I tried to listen to some music at lunch today there and wasn't any sound coming from the speakers. I found out the phone was stuck in headphone mode. I've tried everything; from Q tips to blowing air into the audio jack but nothing seems to work. When listening to music the sound is much louder in my right ear than the left and I can hear crackling and barely noticeable static (tested with two pairs of headphones). What should I do, should I take it to a Genius Stand and pay a ridiculous amount to get it fixed or wait it out and hope it fixes itself.

    Hello Toronto 61,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
There are still some troubleshooting steps to go through before it's isolated to being a hardware issue.  The troubleshooting steps can be found in the following article:

  • Getting stuck in Headphone mode not necessarily a hardware issue, is it?

I've read on the net that cleaning the headphone jack can correct this issue. I've also read that inserting the headphones and removing them many times (I think I've seen 7 or 8 times) can also correct the issue. None of these issues worked for me.
What I did notice is that the presence of my headphones was indeed being detected. With the headphones plugged-in, I set the volume to a low volume, for example. With the headphones removed, I set the volume near maximum. Mind you, the phone is in Headphone mode, and won't normally play out of the speaker. But when you insert the headphones, in this example, the volume jumps to the low setting, and when the headphones are removed, the volume jumps to the near maximum setting.
So insertion and removal of the headphones is indeed detected. So this isn't a hardware issue, then, is it? There's got to be something else going on.

Well, I backed up, erased, and restored to get proper functionality. No longer stuck in headphone mode. I tried compressed air, and cleaning the jack. Those attempts didn't fix me. I believe it's just a bug that will eventually get fixed, or a setting that will reset the logic associated with the headphone.

  • HOW TO GET MY IPHONE 4S OUT OF BEING STUCK IN HEADPHONES MODE? I TRIED BLOWING IT, I TRIED SUCKING IT AND I TRIED THE QU TIP, ALSO FREEZING AND PLUGGING AND UNPLUGGING THE HEADPHONES. I ALSO RESTORED IT AND PUT IT IN DFU MODE AND STILL NOTHING.

How do i get my iphone 4s out of being stuck in headphones mode. When i dont even have headphones plugged in, it says headphones ringer. I've tried blowing and sucking in the jack, didnt work. I tried using a blowdrier in the jack, didn't work. I also tried putting it in the freezer while in a plastic bag, trying to clean it with a qu tip, and plugging and unplugging the headphones more than 100 times, still nothing and i also restored, reset, and put my iphone in DFU mode, and still nothing seems to work. DOES ANYONE KNOW ANY OTHER WAY I NEED HELP PLEASEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!! ANYONE ANY OTHER WAYS TO FIX IT?!?!??!? That would be very helpful

I had the same problem.  I squirted a drop of WD40 in the headphone hole and then used a plastic dental toothpick and twisted it around in the hole.  It amazingly worked.
    Good luck

  • Ringer stuck in headphon mode. How can I get ringer working?

My ringer is stuck on headphone mode and I cannot hear when it rings. My headphones are not connected and I cannot get phone to return to normal ringer. What setting do I change to fix?

try toggling the headphone jack into your phone a couple of times and then use the side volume control and see if the ringer works.
