Iphone stuck in infinite setup loop

My iphone is stuck in an infinite setup loop. Have reset phone a lot of times and it lets me set up all info. I get home screen for less than 2 seconds and the set up screen pops back up. Randomly the voice over will come on and the tripple tap to enter from kep pad/board comes on or goes off. HELP!

Hello DebiSuzi,
Not being able to use your device can certainly be frustrating. From what I can gather, it sounds like you're having issues restarting your device. After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help in this situation. You may want to consider restoring your device to factory settings. After this is complete, I would recommend restoring your data from any potential backups you may have:
If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Use recovery mode
You might need to use recovery mode to restore your device in these cases:
iTunes doesn't recognize your device or says it's in recovery mode.
You see the Apple logo onscreen for several minutes with no progress bar.
You see the Connect to iTunes screen.
Learn what to do if you see the progress bar onscreen for several minutes.
To put your device into recovery mode, follow these steps:
Turn off your device and leave it off.
Plug in your device's USB cable to a computer with iTunes.
Hold down the Home button on your device as you connect the USB cable. Keep holding down the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
When you see this screen, release the Home button. If you don't see this screen, try steps 1 through 3 again.
When your device is connected, iTunes will open. You'll see a message saying that iTunes has detected an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch in recovery mode.
Use iTunes to restore your device. Restoring in recovery mode will erase your device. If you previously synced with iTunes or iCloud, you might be able to restore from your backup.

  • PRS-T1 stuck in infinite reboot loop after failed firmware update

    Hi,
I tried to update the firmware, but failed when updating to version 1.0.07.05070. Tried to 2 times. The first time it failed I simply tried again. The second time, it took a lot longer to reach the failed to update message, but it did cause the ereader to reboot.
Now, it's stuck in an infinite reboot loop on the "Opening book" page. The progress bar on that page stays completely empty, lasts for about 30 seconds, and reboots again. This will go one until the battery is dead or indefinitely if plugged in.
I have tried pressing the Home + Menu buttons, but they seem to have no effect.
Please advise if there is anything I can try to revive it?
    Thanks in advanced.
    David
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Kiroken,
Here is what I have observed:
    - After a hard boot (reset + power button during 3+ seconds), if I don't do anything, it will reboot every ~30seconds.
    - If I press and hold the Home and Menu buttons, no effect. The same as if I didn't press anything.
    - If I press the Forward + Back buttons (2 & 4), it does not reboot after 30 seconds. Instead, the orange light on the power button blink every ~2-3 seconds.
    - Any other key combinations that I have tried have no effect.
I have tried with and without several rescue sdcard. No difference. No improvement. In every case, the computer never sees the reader. If plugged into the power outlet, it seems like the battery charges alright. It does not appear to charge if plugged into USB port.
That's all I know. If I can't fix it, I might be forced to turn it into a coaster or maybe a cutting board for the kitchen.

  • Iphone stuck in infinite loop, HELP!

my iphone after resetting all settings through settings>general>reset, is stuck in an infinite loop.
it turns on, shows the apple logo, then about a minute later the loading symbol appears, after 10mins it quickly flashs black and then starts the loop again, i have left it for over 12 hours, to see if it will fix itself, but it wont.
i cant get it into dfu or recovery mode, it wont even turn off until it runs out of battery and then repeats its loop. when i charge it it just starts the loop again!
please i really need help, if i cant resolve this problem, im not going to buy the ipad and the iphone 4g as i planned to do so.
    please could anyone help!

If you can't get your iPhone into DFU or recovery mode, there is a major problem. You can make an appointment at an Apple store if there is one nearby.
This is a user to user help forum only, so doubtful if any fellow users will lose any sleep over your threat not to purchase an iPad or the next generation iPhone when released if this problem cannot be resolved. If not, more than likely there is a hardware problem or failure. If a problem arises with your PC that you cannot resolve, are you not going to purchase another PC either?

  • IPhone 3GS stuck in infinite reboot loop

    Hi
Today my iPhone 3GS ran out of power, and i charged it via the wall plug. After it was turned on, it started reboot every couple of minutes, and has done this for hours now. I tried shutting it down and starting it again but that didn't help. It hasn't been jailbroken or anything like that. It runs iOS 5.0.1.
Any suggestions for what i can do to fix this problem?

  • IOs 5 Update sent iPhone 4 into infinite reboot loop!

I see that many people are having issues with the update not working, but I haven't come across someone with the issue I have.
I tried to update to iOs 5, but it forced my phone into recovery mode. After trying to restore it to factory setting several times, receiving multiple errors, my iPhone 4 is now stuck in an infinite loop of showing the startup screen (apple logo) then the spinning circle. It cannot be reset, and it is not detected by itunes. I tried all of the suggestions on the pages the errors linked me to, but nothing worked.
I have no idea what to do...
    Suggestions?

Well, lots of people are saying that Apple is the new Windows. There are, unfortunately, right.
As Apple keeps growing, the problems on my Mac and iPhone keep growing, too.
My iPhone 4 is in an Infinite Loop, rebooting the whole time.
After 7 hours (!!!!) of attempts, I finally found this solution: keep the power and home button pushed in, then release the power button and only keep the home button pushed in. Then you can update (if Apple lets you, my iPhone is still restoring after more than 1 hour).
This is really a shame and very bad publicity for Apple. Last year Antennagate, now Upgate, what's next?

  • Stuck in infinite Vista loop

I've just gone through bootcamp assistant and formatted 6gb on my Mac (10.5). I went through Windows set-up but it told me I needed 7368MB, So I cancelled installation, it now goes through a loop where it boots straight to the Windows install DVD and I can't get access to my Mac. I've tried holding down the mouse button during restart, and command-option-o-f to try and eject the DVD, it ignores this and still boots straight to Windows install DVD. Any suggestions would be very muich appreciated,
    Thanks

  • Iphone stuck in itunes setup and will not proceed to next step (pic)

I recently connected my new iphone 4 to my computer in an effort to sync it to itunes for the first time.  It went through the setup steps and then got to one step asking if I would like to setup the 'Find my iPhone' service.  The options are Not Now, Learn More, and Set up Find my iPhone.  None of these links work when clicked and the screen will not go past this step.  All i can do is eject the iphone.  I have tried restarting itunes and my computer but everytime it detects my iphone it starts at the same Find my iPhone page and will not proceed.  I have no clue what to do from here a was wondering what I can do?  Thanks.

Update: I found this thread https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2694485?start=0&tstart=0 with alot of helpful tips.  This seems to be an error within itunes that still has gone unfixed.  What has worked for me is to close itunes and unplug iphone from computer.  Then turn off the internet connection to the computer and restart itunes and plug in iphone.  itunes will then detect the iphone and allow you to continue setuping up the new device without going to the 'find my iphone' page.  Good luck.

  • Windows Vista Stuck in Infinite Reboot Loop

After going on some websites which I've used and know are reputable, my computer completely froze, so I manually powered it down using the power button. After starting it up again and signing in, the computer randomly restarted with no BSOD or and prior
warning. It gives the default, "Shutting Down" sign, and starts back up. Trying to disable the function of automatically restarting when a fatal error occurs by the advanced settings from the HDD, and also the use of the f8 for advanced boot options,
the computer still restarts without giving the BSOD or any sort of information why.
I've tried running safe mode, but the computer will still restart and not boot in safe mode. Even when the computer is left idle on the user selection screen, it will restart.
I'm looking for the cause of the problem and a fix to it would also be very helpful and appreciated.
    Thanks,

If you created a Windows 7 repair disc you can try to use it, set the bios to boot from CD/DVD first to see it will boot from the drive.

  • (6G Nano) Stuck in infinite restore loop, not recognized by computer, music stuck at 0:00, and headphones not recognized.... Help?

All of this randomly started happening.  I've remapped the drive, reinstalled iTunes, formatted the iPod, and countless restores.
I've started it in diagnostic mode and everything checks.  The headphones work in my laptop as well as sounded the tones for the headphones check in diagnostic mode.
I've spent about 3-4 hours total trying to do various things and I'm stumped.  Please help.  I cannot go to an Apple store because I am currently deployed.  I've had this iPod for less than 2 months and it would be great to get things working agian.
    Thank you.

Nothing huh? No one's had this problem or this isn't fixable... oh well... if anybody comes up with anything I'll check in occasionally...

  • IPhone stuck in reboot loop - too many apps installed?

    Hi guys!
Starting some months ago, I've had nothing but problems with my iPhone. However, I've been dealing with most of these or even solved them.
But now I'm stuck on a reboot loop for a few days and don't know what to do.
When did it start? I think it was in May when I first got panic.plist, ResetCounter and SpringBoard-CrashLogs under "Diagnostics and Usage". Following this, everytime I rebooted my phone or the battery was empty, it could take some more minutes than normal for my iPhone to boot. This loading time increased and increased, in October it once took more than two days for my iPhone to reboot. I now have really thousands of those ErrorLogs. The Apple support on the phone couldn't help me either. Additionally, the phone performed some cruel changes I can't explain: Once the language was changed, once the photo gallery had to be restored (the iPhone did that on its own).
However, sometime in November the iPhone crashed, and I was already thinking that it would now last a few days until I could use it again. But somehow it was done within 15 minutes. Without any error or reboot loop. The last two months I haven't had any problems with this until the battery was empty three days ago.
Since then, I have had the iPhone plugged in so the battery doesn't get empty and it's stuck on the bright Apple logo. After about 210 seconds the logo gets dark, then the screen is completely black and it's starting the same procedure again. Sometimes I get the vibration, sometimes the loading circle (white wheel of death!), but everytime it just starts over again.
I am pretty sure this problem appears because I have more than 1300 apps installed (yes, this is a very huge number, but I remember Steve Jobs saying that, with the folders in iOS 4, it would be possible to have a few thousand apps installed), 4000+ photos, and so on. I am pretty sure it's not a hardware, but a software problem. In detail, it's about the SpringBoard. The iPhone 4S only has 512MB RAM, so it's hard for it to load 1300+ app icons into its memory (which it has to because the SpringBoard has to run without any lags). Only in some cases it's able to boot that up, but I have absolutely no idea which cases these are and why it has run well for the last two months, but beginning with the new year stopped to work.
Furthermore, the panic.plist entries all say that the problem is a watchdog timeout. Apple's iOS seems to allow the devices only to take up to two minutes (always around 120 seconds in the CrashLogs) to boot up, then probably another 120 seconds to launch the SpringBoard process (which explains the watchdog timeouts in the SpringBoard-CrashLogs).
I will not restore the iPhone because I unfortunately haven't backed up for a long time and there have been many data changes since the last backup.
So altogether, I tried to collect all the information I know here, but that's really not enough. Apple unlikely wants to help me, the phone support was really nice, but even asked his superior, who couldn't help either.
My questions to you folks now are: Do you have any more information regarding panic.plist's, watchdog timeouts or reboot loops?
What would your advice be? Any chance to get onto my data and back it up? Or is waiting the best solution?
Would it be better to try several hard resets, or let the battery run empty and start the whole process again, or just let the phone plugged in so it tries to reboot on and on until it's hopefully successful sometime?
And: Would it maybe increase the loading time if I would take the SIM card out of the iPhone, so the chance to have an successful try would be higher?
Note: I am still using iOS 5.1.1 because I am completely sure that I'd have to buy an iPhone 5 to run 1300+ apps on iOS 6.

Okay, some more information about this.
Apparently there is a 'watchdog' that listens whether the iPhone's software responds or not. If it doesn't, it forces a restart, and also creates a panic.plist entry (under Diagnostics). Unfortunately the responding time is only 120 seconds. The problem I have now is the so called 'Application Map'. To ensure a smooth browsing through the different screen filled with apps, this map is regenerated everytime the user installs a new app or deletes one. Because I have more than 1300 apps installed, generating this Application Map usually takes more than two minutes. I can only hope that sometime in the next days my iPhone will be able to do this in less than 120 seconds (like it has done that several times before).
I still can't explain why everything had been working great during the last two months. I have probably installed some new apps, but also deleted other ones, so the number of total apps didn't really increase heavily.
However, I've read about some possible solutions to this problem (without restoring - which would solve the problem only temporarily anyway):
Hard-resetting the iPhone until the screen is completely black, then wait a few minutes, then turn the device on. It's possible that this has to be repeated several times, but for the user who posted this it resolved the issue.
For all the (in this case lucky) guys with a jailbreak: SSH into the iPhone, then temporarily move the watchdog located under /System/Library/SystemConfiguration/mobilewatchdog.bundle to a different folder, the iPhone will boot up after a few minutes. Then just move the watchdog back. It's a shame that apparently jailbreak users can resolve this issue, while normal users can't.
I also want to note that this problem has been appearing since iOS 2, which came out more than four years ago. It would be really no big deal for Apple developers to change the 120 seconds to e.g. 300 or even more. I've found hundreds of threads, not only here, where users complain about exactly the same issue. I don't have any hope that an Apple employee will ever read this, but if so, please keep that in mind. I don't understand why Apple has done nothing to solve this issue.
However, if you have any more ideas, please reply here. If there's anyone around here who has managed to successfully install more than 1300 apps on his iPhone (or iPod touch), please post that.
