IPhone suddenly adds "11" when I message my wife

I've been texting my wife's number from this phone for months. Suddenly today I am getting an error message telling me I need to use a ten digit number. The number the error thinks I'm trying is my wife's number but with "11" added to the beginning.
So far I can still text other people without the error.
A similar error error has been reported before. One of the suggested fixes is deleting and recreating the contact and deleting all the texts, but I'd really like to avoid that if I can. I don't want to lose all of those texts.
I tried removing the "1" from the My Phone Number setting, turning MMS off and on, turning off dial assist, turning the phone on and off, manually deleting just her number and entering manually in a text message, and none of that has worked.

Here is the exact wording of the error just to help search engines in case this ever gets answered:
11########## Error Invalid Number. Please re-send using a valid 10 digit mobile number or valid short code.
The "##########" is the phone number I'm trying to text with "11" added to the front. (Yay, free 1s!)

When I click on "Where did the error occur" -> "Adapter Engine", I do not have a choice of errors from the dropdown. I only see one option "*".

I've also managed to overcome this problem by selecting "Subscription Authorization" in the Alert Category Definition page, and entering SAP_XI_MONITOR as one of the roles.
After that, I am able to see a the alert category defined. By default it's already subscribed, because I'm using the same user - PISUPER.
I saw in another post that the option "Suppress Multiple Alerts of this Rule" should be left unchecked. I tried that, but I still do not see any alerts raised in ALRTDISP.
What did I miss?

1. If you are really on iOS 7.1, you may wish to try upgrading to 8.1.2 which is the latest (basing this on your signature).
2. If updating the phone doesn't help, is this only when you connect to a specific wifi network? Or all wifi networks (including public with no password)? If it is ALL wifi networks, you may have a hardware problem. Genius bar would be the next step.

Is your device jailbroken? If so, it's possible.
If the device is not jailbroken, it is not possible for the device to be hacked.

My iphone 4 using ios 7.0.6 . Everytime i turn on the cellular mode, it suddenly shut down. I turn it on and it will be on for few second then the apple logo appears again and shut down, everytime. The way to keep using it now i change the airplane mode (need to hurry when it on for seconds) and it will run normally. I use wifi only to keep using it. My iphone 4 turn out to be ipod now. I just upgrade the iOS 7.1.1 but nothing works. I havent set to the factory setting yet. So when i turn off the airplane mode, it run normally and when cellular on, it dead and show the red battery icon and lightning even when the battery still 90%.

The phone is 'syncing' to something it woudl seem. I'm losing 1% of my battery every minute, my WiFi is turned off (as is Blutooth), and I have the rotating arrow "sync" symbol going on. I've turned off iTunes on my MacAir, and I've shut down every app on my iPhone (the two tap of the home button, swipe up to quit).

Open the Contacts app on your wife's phone and find your name. Remove you son's info from your contact card and save.

IPhone suddenly turn off by itself,won't come back on

My iPhone suddenly turned off when i wanted to unlock it to check my messages(i'm really sure that it has 80%+ battery during that time),here's what i did to get it turn back on,but it still wont on:
1) I plug it to my pc (but my pc says it's an unknown device and it also says that Windows has stopped the device because it has reported problems)
2)i hold on to the home button and the standby button
3) i charged it

How long has it been off? I have over-heated mine before a few times... (hot car, heating pad...) and it shuts down completely and will NOT come back on until it cools down. I'm not saying this is your problem, but if it did over-heat it will come back on when it cools down.

App crashes when not connected to wifi

Our dps app crashes on iphone and ipad(3) when not connected to wifi. I would expect a "you are not connected to the internet" error to appear, and then any previously downloaded issues to work, except for external links. Is this possible?

There was a hotfix for this put out just after V25.
Unfortunetly you have to rebuild your viewer and submit and update to Apple. From my experience they were very quick about approving the update because of the critical nature of the update even without putting in an expediated review request, but that was over a month ago.

UDPATE:
Spoke with Express lane, and issue was escalated. Kudos to the support guys that handled this one (Brian and Yi). Went through everything in detail and took all the crash dumps off the iphones and ipads to send to engineering.
After backing up the contacts, the recommendation was to delete all contacts in iCloud. Doing that caused my iCloud to crash (in the browser), so more crash dumps were sent to apple.
Eventually got all contacts deleted, then did a resync. Looks like IOS devices are coming back to life and syncing again.
Also, Outlook iCloud connector has just been updated to ver 1.0.1 so i installed that on their recommendation.
BOTTOM LINE workaround:
1. Backup contacts
2. Delete contacts in iCloud
3. Delete accounts on IOS devices
4. Recreate accounts on IOS devices.
Hoping a real root cause can be found and real fix implemented. This has caused me to doubt the stability of iCloud, so i will procees with caution.

Message sent using invalid number of digits please resend using 10 digit number or valid short code Msg:2114. Online I found a discussion that stated i needed to delete contact and re-add. I have done that to no avail. Any ideas?

I had the same issue with the iPhone 6 and tried everything! I now understand that at some point I stored a number for a contact without including the area code and sent a text message. So, to correct the issue, you must literally "erase" all references to the contact, not just the number. Deleting the contact and entering a new one is not enough because the iPhone stores references to that number in multiple places. The steps below worked and are very simple:
1) On the contact screen, delete everything stored for that number. You can't just edit the contact to fix the problem, so write down or record the info somewhere before you complete this step. Choose edit and then select DELETE to eliminate the entire contact which means home, work, cell, email address, etc.
2) Delete the entire string of messages you sent to that number. That's every single message...
3) Now delete the entire string of invalid 2114 messages you received after your text(s) failed.
4) Finaly, remove the contact from FAVORITES if you saved it that way.
5) To validate that all this worked, simply go to the keypad or contact screen and enter the number associated with the contact to verify successful removal. I used the keypad and dialed to confirm. If the contact number still shows up, you need to go back and recheck your steps. Trust me, I had to do this a few times.
Several posts suggested that you should reset and turn off your phone. After following these steps, it was not necessary for me to reset or turn off my device.
is there a much faster way to achieve the same results? Probably, but this was safe for an iPhone novice and may help you avoid inadvertently deleting other contacts or replacing factory settings that you need.

I'd start with the following document, with one modification. At step 12 after typing GEARAspiWDM press the Enter/Return key once prior to clicking OK. (Pressing Return adds a carriage return in the field and is important.)
