[iPhone] Switch from navigationView to tabView?

Hello,
I built my app from the "navigation-based" template, which works fine for the main screen, but I would like to be able to switch to using a tabBar.
How do I go from the navigationView to the tabView?

Alright, why is no-one answering?
Is there at least some sample code that does this, or could someone give me the slightest guidance on where to find more info on this?
I can't seem to push the tabview controller onto the screen, because it is already nav-based...

IPhone switches from play to pause randomly

When playing music on the iPhone it will randomly switch from play to pause then back to play again on its own. It behaves like this randomly and the time before it switches back to play is equally random from 2 sec to 15 sec. This is annoying. Anyone else experience this or have any idea as to the cause? I have version 2.0.1. TIA

One thing that might help out.
When you notice the iphone going from play to pause, is it when you are using the earbuds that came with the iphone or are you using a different pair.
The reason for this questions is if the earbuds become disconnected from the iphone it is supposed to pause. Or, is you squeeze the mic part way down the earbud cable it is supposed to pause.
Try wiggling the headphone jack in the iphone to see if you can produce this issue.
Also, try wiggling the cable around the mic on the cable to see if you can produce this issue.

Questions re: iPhone switch from PC to Mac

Hi everyone -
I finally made the switch from PC... I bought a shiny new iMac over the weekend, and so far, I love it!
Anyway, here's the situation: my iPhone 3G was previously synced with iTunes on my PC. I now am "phasing out" my PC in favor of the iMac. Once I get all of my stuff migrated to the iMac (like all my music), I want to start using the iMac exclusively to sync with the iPhone.
Here are my questions:
1) Is there anything special I need to do before I just go plugging in the iPhone into the iMac? and
2) I presume that once I do plug it into the iMac for sync, the iPhone will reformat itself for use with the Mac. Am I looking at potential total destruction of my Apps? My contacts, calendar etc. are already on MobileMe - so they're safe... but how do I save my lovely Apps collection?

You should get everything working on the Mac first.
eg: Export your contacts from your old computer (to some .CSV file) and import into Mac's address book.
Make sure all music, videos, etc are on your Mac (or available via some drive it will have access to).
Your apps are on your computer so back them up too. Go to your apps, right click any one and say Show in Windows Explorer and it will go to where it stores the files for apps, so back them up over to your Mac too.
In iTunes on your Mac, make sure you are logged into the iTunes store before importing anything into it and that computer is authorized on your account.
In the end, you should have your library all setup on the Mac seeing all the files you had before.
You should export any contacts and import them into your Mac.
Once your mac is all setup, then you can sync and yes it will wipe your phone (not everything and it is not considered a reformat, it will just delete your music, videos, etc). But you can resync all that back since the new Mac can see those files now.
MobileMe is done via settings on the iPhone so you should be fine with that.
Others here may point you to a FAQ on this as I know there is one and they lay it out step by step about migrating from Windows to a Mac (for iTunes as iTunes may have some tools to help).

My iphone switches from the carrier network to no service. What can I do?

I have a brand new unlocked Iphone 4s. I took it to my carrier, T Mobile, to activate the sim card. The phone now will fluctuate between T Mobile and No Service. I have read that something may be wrong with the antenna. Any suggestions? If the phone does not improve by Mon. (3 days from now), I am taking it to a repair shop.

Iphone Switch From Windows to Mac questions

I have the iphone 3g; and I (in haste) synced it for the first time with my PC at the office rather than my mac...I know I need to re-format for changing to be able to sync with my mac....
what will I lose?
I have not loaded any music/media on to the phone...just applications. Will I lose my apps? Will I lose my contacts?
Also, my email is set up to retrieve my work email which is an exchange account; any issues there?
I am hoping that the answer is that when I set up for the mac I will keep my contacts, apps, and email settings...
Please if anyone knows the answer; HELP!
Also, how do I re-format to go to my Mac?

No need to reformat anything, just connect to your Mac to sync.
The iPhone is designed to sync iTunes-managed media content with one and only one computer. iTunes media content includes music, videos, ringtones, photos, _and apps_. So, the apps you've loaded will be deleted. You may be able to cancel the sync and use iTunes > File menu > Transfer purchases from to move the apps into iTunes. Alternatively, as long as you're logged into the same iTunes account on the Mac, you can redownload the apps in iTunes (even paid apps can be redownloaded for free, as discussed in this linked kbase article.
Contacts will sync in both directions when managed via iTunes; if you already have contacts in Address Book, you'll be prompted to merge the contacts. You mentioned you have an Exchange account set up - if that's the case, you're actually syncing email/contacts/calendar 'over the air' and not via iTunes; thus, your contacts/email/calendar will not be affected by syncing to your Mac.

Can iPhone switch from Mac to PC?

I set up my iphone at my work which has windows. But at my home I have a Mac. So each time i plug my iPhone into my Mac nothing happens. Is there something I can do to change this???

Blake, you can use both a MAC and a PC with the same iPhone. Many posts have been made on this topic (search "sync multiple computers"). Lots of people (inculding myself) use a PC at work to sync Outlook calendar & contacts, use a MAC at home for tunes & video.

I switched from my iPhone 4s to a Droid and I do not have that phone anymore. I can not recieve texts from anyone with an iPhone and can not get in contact with my girlfriend or siblings now. I think their phones are trying to send their texts as iMessages to my phone that does not recieve iMessages. How can I just delete my Apple account and recieve texts again?

Sounds like you didn't turn of iMessage on your iPhone before making the switch. If you registered your iPhone with Apple using a support profile, try going to https://supportprofile.apple.com/MySupportProfile.do and unregistering it. Also, try changing the password associated with the Apple ID that you were using for iMessage.

Congratulations on your new phone kathdogg! Now let's get your messaging working correctly. If you still have your old device, turn it on, go to settings, and turn off iMessaging.

Iphone will sync with one computer at a time.
When you sync to another it will delete the current content.
Make sure you have copied everything from your old computer to your new one first.

I know have a mobile me account and so my apple id is switched from my email address. i am trying to update my apps but it won't let me as it won't recognize my new 'ID'. how can i fix this on my iphone?

Where are you trying to log in? You should be able to change your ID at http://appleid.apple.com - can you log in there?
Before you change your ID you should log out of the iTunes Store and on any devices which are logged into iCloud. Then once you've changed it you can log back in with the new ID. (Your iCloud synced data will disappear from the device when you do this but will reappear when you sign back in - give it time).
If you are unable to sign into http://appleid.apple.com you will need to contact Support. Go to http://iforgot.apple.com and sign in with your iCloud login. A new password will be sent to your associated email address. If this doesn't work you will have to contact Support. Go to https://getsupport.apple.com . I recently switched from the iPhone 4 to the Samsung Galaxsy S4 and am no longer able to receive text messages from other iPhone users. I have combed the forums looking for a solution and so far have come up empty handed. What seems to be working for others is not working for me. Here is what I've tried so far:
Turned on my old iPhone and iPad, went into settings and turned off iMessage, removed iCloud, disabled FaceTime, and disabled my AppleID in the iTunes & App Store settings. I do not own any other devices that could be using my Apple ID.
I logged into Apple's Apple ID software and unregistered both devices from my Apple ID account.
I logged into iTunes and changed my Apple ID, address, removed credit card info, and deactivated all accounts attached. I even deleted any backups that were stored. It's basically a generic account now with no information relevant to my old account.
I went to the Apple Store and they suggested this was a problem with AT&T...
I spent hours on the phone with AT&T... they directed me to Apple, do you feel my pain?
I'm losing my mind here, I'm on call 24/7 for my job and rely on emergency call out text messages for critical incident situations. I am not getting those messages because they are being sent from an iPhone based system. If anyone has any additional information on this I'd really appreciate it, I can't afford to wait 45 days for Apple to recognize I am no longer using the Apple ID associated.

Thanks for the response. I contacted Apple at the link you listed and spoke with a representative. We walked through the steps I took in my first post above to ensure I had done them correctly. He didn't offer any new suggestions other than making sure my contacts turn on their MMS before texting me.
Unfortunately that is not working either. I tested this with several friends and I am still not receiving their messages. They get a response immediately upon texting me that says the message was undeliverable. They are able to receive my messages, I just don't get theirs.
Any other ideas?
It's mind boggling that Apple has made this such a difficult transition. There should not be repurcussions for choosing to discontinue the use of their product. The only other thing I can think to do is have my service provider change my phone number... what a nightmare.
