Iphone, switch off international roaming?

hi guys, how do I turn off international roaming on my iphone (i think it is a 4g). I want to use the phone on a friend's wi-fy only and stop the international data costs. I've just burnt 20 MB without knowing it. Bummer.

I have seen the advice to go to settings>general>network and turn data roaming off but there is on "network" option in the "general" menu on my iphone.  I have had Settings>general>cellular>Cellular data switched off the whole time but I sill got the 20MB data txt?
What have I missed??

That is referred to recovery mode. At this point your only option is to restore to factory & then from a backup if you have one

  • Activating Japan Sim Free Iphone While on International Roaming

I am based from the Philippines and bought my sim-free iPhone6 Plus via online Apple Store and had it shipped to a Japan address. I will be going to Japan next month to spend my vacation and will get my iPhone as well. I understand that a sim free iPhone will be locked to the first sim that you will insert into it. I would like to ask for answers on the ff:
1.If I use my local sim (PI based) and activate my iPhone while on international roaming, will that lock my phone to my local sim and use it like a normal phone when I get back home?
    2. Is phone activation while on international roaming recommended or will I need to wait until I get back home so I use the local signal?
    Thanks!

I am in the same situation so i asked a friend from japan (also Filipino) and she said that only the Apple store online sells SIM free/openline iPhones. Apple store only provide Japan locked iPhones (daw)

  • My iphone switches off and reboots every 30 seconds

My iPhone switches off and reboots every 30 seconds, has antone experienced this problem? It happened a couple of weeks ago and I took the sim card out , cleaned it and put it back. This solved the problem for about 2 weeks, but it doesnt help now

Well Solution 1 : Reset your modem and Restore your Iphone 4 as a new iphone and try and it still keeps you off
try with another modem and it still keeps you off then your wireless adaptor might crash and you need to go to apple store

  • How to find my iPhone switched off

Pls show me the way to find my iPhone switched off.

If you mean the Phone itself has been turn off, ther eis no way to do that other than simply looking for it. If it is off, it cannot connect to the network.

Have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds, after which the Apple logo will hopefully appear.

  • HT1386 My iPhone switched off and cannot switch it on

I just update the OS and my iPhone switched off and cannot switch it on

Hold the sleep/wake and home button together until you see the Apple logo and then release. The phone should reboot. This can take up to 30 seconds worth of holding.

  • Password protect the iPhone switching off button, please!

This would make it easier to track the phone in case stolen, And also have the time to remotely remove data in time, before it goes out of reach who knows where and what purpose?
I understand the phone would eventually switch off when no juice on battery, but I hope Apple engineers would code this feature as it would make it harder time for criminals.
My friends phone was stolen yesterday, and It was protected by a four digit code, and a bundle 24- months plan phone. So no one should be able to use it as a phone, or can this be overrided? Anyway, I wish Apple would make even more systems that would make it harder time for the criminals.

Unless the four digit code is successfully guessed-at, the phone should be protected. Your friend should notify the carrier of the loss and hopefully get the plan transferred to a new iPhone.

  • Macbook Air 13" - How to switch off internal monitor?

While working with an external monitor (e.g. TV), I would like to switch off the internal monitor. Is there any function which helps me?

this thread talks about running several monitors as advertised by apple and running demanding task on them.
with the lid open, the keyboard offers a very efficiant heat escape vector, which is blocked when the lid is closed - this is a basic and commonsense insulation effect.  this thread also mentions the use of temperature monitoring software and thus a repeatable test setup. the temps recorded were also mentioned. they rose when the lid was closed, the running task remaining unchanged. as far as i could track down the cpus in discussion will shut down around the 105 degree celsius range. i observed system shut downs when the system approached 103° celsius.  not to mention that the fans will run loud well before that.
again this is on hardware checked and ok-ed by apple service.
the question still welcoming an expert answer: is there any way to switch off the built-in macbook monitor while the lid is open ?

  • How to switch off internal macbook screen when using external monitor(s)

as far as i observed, adding external displays ( running different screens on them, not mirroring)  to a macbook pro  increases the gpu workload and with that comes temperature rise in the laptop and increase in ventilator noise - and probably increased hardware aging and risk of component faillure due to high temperature inside the laptop.
simply try connecting two external 27" screens and open some flash video on both of them. then run a temperature monitoring software and watch temps rise, compared to running same flash videos / demanding tasks only on one connected external screen or only on the laptop screen with no external monitor connected.
especially in mavericks, due to its increased background routines, such a set-up appears ever the more taxing, then again who does not love apple`s nice adds showing laptops with two 27” screens connected to it and the workspace vision they invoke....
i have seen temps around 100° to 102° celsius on a 13" macbook pro 2012 edition, which i would expect is territory where the cpu / gpu temp safety switches will trigger system shutdown any time soon ( hardware status before verified as fully in order by apple service and default osx installation)
imagine your anti-virus software starting some realtime content screening while runnign some demanding tasks already and the system shuts down easily (all such situation observed in reality)
(would be interesting to see how a retina display macbook fares with 2 external monitors running demanding tasks, considering the retina display already increased taxing for the gpu - any experience from users of such a setup would be very much appreciated as it will provide critical purchase decision intelligence for all of us envisioning a retina-book and two big screens adoring our desks...)
turning down the macbook`s built-in screen`s backlight may reduce power consumption but i have not seen any evidence that it switches off the gpu-to-screen feed and respective gpu load - it certainly did not prevent gpu, cpu, board, etc temps to rise to borderline levels.
so the key question here is, how to switch off the macbook pro`s built-in screen in order to avoid gpu cycles being wasted on that screen ( and the resulting heat developments)  when working with big external screen(s)  connected to the laptop ?

  • Iphone switches off when I'm restoring it!

I've got a 3GS 16g and when down loading a new app the other day (after only getting it for Christmas) it crashed and then went into recovery mode. I've hooked it up to my computer and when i try to restore it, the phone seams to reboot or switch off mid sinc. At the end of the download my computer says that it lost network connection and to try the download again after having checked all my settings. I've done this about 20 times now and it still doesn't work. Does anyone have any ideas please? I'm trying to aviod taking it back to the shop as they'll send it off!

    You're welcome.
Are you saying your OS detail provided is accurate? You have a PC running Windows 2000?
If so, Windows 2000 is not supported. You need Windows XP or Vista with a PC, which is included on the retail sales box.
