IPhone switching to a different wifi network on its own.
I have a 4S running 5.0 and live in an apartment complex with free wifi, however I use my own private network with an Airport Extreme. Life is good! But occasionally (perhaps every other day and without leaving the apartment) I’ll notice my iPhone’s wifi signal is less than the usual full strength. When I check its wifi settings I see it’s switched over to the apartment network on its own. Any idea why? And what can I do to keep it locked on to my own network? Thanks in advance.
You can go to settings, WFi and search or all networks, it should still come up in the search. To be really covered, write down the name of he network, then you can always use Other...which lets you enter the name of a network to join.
If you are on earned about it, just keep operating normally and if you end up on he network, Forget it then.

Sorry, but the 169.x.x.x IP address is internally generated by the iPod (and iPhone) and indicates that a network has been detected but no IP address has been issued. Your friends iPhone was not connected to your ad hoc network either - it connected to the internet through the 3G network.
You should read through the Vista help screens on ad hoc networking for some insight how this works. You should be able to get some ideas there.
In the mean time, $40 or less will buy you a very capable wireless router with four Ethernet ports and will simplify your network tremendously. Having used Windows ICS for a long time, the addition of a router and a real network simplified things so much. -

Connect your iPhone to Computer. On iTunes left Pane, under "Devices" right mouse click iPhone and select "Restore from Backup..." then select one of the three backup (Date and Time)

No such option on an iPhone. Just go to Settings>wifi, tap the name (SSID) of your your home network from the list, then when prompted, enter the password.

WiFi connections are unstable on multiple different WiFi networks
Has there been any updates on the unstable WiFi connection issues with the Note 3? I have this issue with multiple different WiFi networks even though signal strength is not an issue when it happens. I picked up my Note 3 in August/Sept 2013.
1. Work WiFi
2. Home 2.4G channel and 5G channel
From what I have searched so far, I am by far not the only person with this issue, but I have yet to see a fix or any kind of legitimate input from Verizon on this issue.
The issue even happens in SafeMode so I know its not an app that I downloaded that is causing this issue.
ThanksSamsung is aware of the issue. The fix is supposedly with Kit Kat.
They may suggest you going to a Best Buy mobile and have the software removed and put back on. Been there done that, didn't work.
Sending a replacement out isn't going to help. It is a known software issue, and it will continue until there is a build that fixes the issue. IE: Kit Kat.
You should have the MJE build. This software is the problem. MJ5 was no problem. If you get a replacement MJE should be on it, if not as soon as you put the SIM card in it will start to download it. -

Go to Settings > iTunes and App Stores and set to "use cellular data" to ON. Be aware this will use your mobile data allotment when streaming music.

I had the same problem. I reset my network settings as iOS 8 on my iPad 3 seemed a bit slow. When I tried to reconnect to the wifi the correct password was not accepted immediately.
after retrying several times it did manage to join the network. The only observation I had was that I had a weak signal and an iPhone next to me at the time.
make sure you are close to the wifi signal away from any other wifi devices. -
I have an iPad mini, but it will not let me update. It is saying that I do not have an internet connection, but I am connected to the wifi. I have tried on 2 different wifi networks and I do not have internet service-it's wifi only. How do I update?

I, too, fear it might be a hardware problem . I removed all security from my router but still no networks appear in the list nor can I connect directly by typing in the SSID. Tried two routers: Apple Airport Extreme and a Linksys something-er-other provided by Bell.
I will give HP a call tomorrow and see if they can sort this out.

Edit: almost certain it's a hardware problem: I clicked on the Help button while on that "Scanning for networks" dialog during initial setup and as one of the "helpful" suggestions, it said my Mac address was 00:00:00:etc. -
I have recently rented a film from itunes for the first time and stopped the download. Every time I now "search for available downloads" - using different wifi networks - I get a message from itunes to say that the network connection was lost. I have tried from home and work and am at a loss as to what to do. Any suggestions please?

I tried to solve the problem in several ways.
1. reset neteaork definitions. -> did not solve the problem
2. reset location and privecy -> did not solve the problem.
3. reset all definitions -> did not solve the problem.
Doses any one has any idea that can help?

MotiThe only other option I can think of is to try a Reset All Settings reset. You won't lose anything, but your phone's settings will ALL be set back to factory default.
If this doesn't work you could try to do a restore through iTunes and set your phone up as new. If that doesn't work, you may have a hardware problem and will need to take the phone in to an Apple store to have it checked out. -

What user troubleshooting have you tried? The user troubleshooting steps are restart, reset, restore from backup and restore as new. Usually a reset will fix most of the unusual actions by the device.
