IPhone sync attempt crashes iTunes immediately

I'm running:
iTunes 9.0.3.15
iPhone 3GS 3.1.3
Windows 7, 64-bit
I've got all the most recent Windows updates and even recently upgraded my BIOS to see if that would help.
As soon as I connect my iPhone and iTunes begins communicating with it, iTunes hangs and then eventually crashes. I can't do anything with the iPhone while it's connected because it doesn't even show up in the devices column before iTunes crashes. This only began after the recent iTunes/iPhone update. Any advice would great.

It didn't give anything helpful in the error message, but I dug around and found the crash report:

  • IPhone syncing issues after iTunes upgrade

    Hi
I just upgraded to iTunes 8.1.1 for Mac. During the install I got a kernel panic and had to restart. iTunes seems to be installed fine. When I connect my iPhone I get messages like "some content will not be copied to the iPhone as this computer is not authorized" or such like. So now several apps, videos and music has been wiped from the iPhone.
I tried authorizing the computer but I just get "This computer is already authorized".
there does not seem to be any particular link between the erased content. Some was purchased on the Mac and some on the iPhone, all from the iTunes store. Before I updated iTunes everything synced fine.
I can d/l the apps again direct to the iPhone but I can't find a way to get the missing music and videos back on the iPhone. Very annoying.
    Would re-installing iTunes help?
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Chris

    Hi Chris,
Try highlighting the one of the songs that will not sync in iTunes> cilck File> Get Info, check the account name and verifying you are authorizing the computer with correct account.
If the issue persists, try removing the SC Info folder as shown here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1389
If you still see the issue after removing the SC Info folder, try reinstalling iTunes as shown here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1224

  • IPod Classic won't sync and crashes iTunes. Suggestions?

Hi, hopefully someone can help me!
I have a 80GB iPod classic for 3/4 years, never had any syncing issues until now that weren't fixable by a reset.
However a few days ago I was at my parents' house and charged my iPod using their computer. The first time there was the standard message "This iPod is synced with another library" etc etc but subsequently it crashed iTunes. It was recognised by the computer as a portable media device, all the normal folders were there etc.
Now that I'm with my regular laptop, I'm having the same issues but have realised that the iPod won't sync. It crashes iTunes when it's connected and when I disconnect the iPod, should iTunes works but it displays the message: "The iPod cannot be synced. The required folder could not be found"
Any suggestions on how to fix this? I've tried updated my iTunes software and resetting the iPod (pushing menu and centre), but neither has had an effect.
Edit: I should add that since charging the iPod on the other computer, I have also had issues with the click wheel, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
    Thanks in advance!

  • Sync problem "Iphone synced with other Itunes library"

Hi folks, I’m new to the forum and would appreciate some help.
I recently re-formatted my hard drive on my PC and re-installed Itunes. I have only ever used my iphone on this PC and this Itunes account. Now when I connect my Iphone 4 to my PC it can be seen in the devices section at the left hand side and there I can view all its contents as normal. However if I try to change the settings in the summary section to “manually manage music and videos” and press APPLY it come up saying “the iphone is synced with another itunes library” and says if I continue then my iphone content will be erased. I can’t even drop and drag music into my device as I used to do before formatting.
I really don’t want to delete my phones content as I’ve got it just the way I like it and would be a real hassle to do this. I don’t understand why itunes is saying that my phone is synced with another itunes library.
I also have the most recent update on my phone and was wondering if there's any way to sort this out?
    Thanks in advance
    Craig.

All iTunes content presently on your phone will be erased. If you have the same content in your iTunes library, just sync it back. If you have app data you want to preserve, backup your phone first, then restore from that backup, followed by syncing your content back to your phone. You can manually create a current backup by right-clicking your phone in the left device pane & selecting "Backup". Follow this by right-clicking again & selecting "Restore from Backup". Select the backup you just made. If prompted to create another backup, decline. Disable auto-sync before you do any of the above: iTunes>Preferences>Devices(under the edit menu if using windows). Make sure you have one contact & one calendar entry in whatever supported applications you use on your computer: DO NOT SYNC to empty applications. Doing so will erase data from your phone.

  • HELP Iphone synced with another itunes HELP

I get this message when i try to drag music from my itunes to my iphone. I had to rebuild my computer and so reinstall itunes, im guessing that is why im getting this message.
Is there a way to deautherise my iphone from the old itunes so i can put music on from this new itunes. i dont have the music that is currently on the phone on my pc so am reluctant to wipe it and then re sync.
If you can help it would be much appreciated,
    many thanks,
    sam

iTunes will let you copy your iTunes Store purchases directly from an iPod or iPhone to the computer, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
Purchased applications can be downloaded over again, see this article for details: How to redownload purchased applications from the App Store
For everything else (music from CDs, other downloads and including iTunes purchased songs and in some cases, videos and games) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod Touch or iPhone. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer data (such as playcounts and ratings), movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well.
A selection of iPod/iPhone to iTunes utilities:
Senuti Mac Only (iPod Touch & iPhone compatible)
SharePod Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TuneJack Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPodRip Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
Music Rescue Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

  • IPhone Sync Disabled with iTunes - COMMON PROBLEM

I've read this issue everywhere with iPhone users. When trying to sync with your iTunes, it displays the message "iTunes cannot sync information with the iPhone "-" because syncing has been disabled on this computer. Do you want to enable syncing?"
Obviously, you click yes. Then it displays "Syncing cannot be enabled on this computer", to which you can accept this fact (OK), or (Override). Either option allows the iPhone to do a basic sync (music, apps, photos, videos), but leaves all your contacts, calendar dates, and Mail accounts on your computer.
In conjunction with this, iSync doesn't seem to be working either, so it leads me to believe there is an error in the sync directory, or whatever.
I've already tried completely removing iTunes and reinstalling it, so i know that doesn't work, as well as reinstalling the iPhone OS, and restarting both.
I have a Macbook Pro, running Snow Leopard 10.6.5, running iTunes 10.1.1, with and iPhone 4 running 4.2.1, so everything up to date.
Please can we try and get as many answers as possible on this thread, so people don't have to search around picking ideas form everywhere.
    Please help!!

I've read this issue everywhere with iPhone users.
Not here. The same is not reported here very often.

  • We have 2 iPhones synced to different itunes accounts and computers. Is it possible to merge the 2 calendars so that we both know what is happening on any given day?  Thanks

We have 2 iphones synced to 2 different accounts and 2 different pc's.  as we work together we would like to merge the calendars so that we can each see the others committments, meetings etc for the day.  is there any way we can do this without losing current content and syncing the others contacts?

  • New iphone syncing problems, causing itunes to crash

I just purchased a verizon iphone yesterday and am in the process of setting up the phone to my liking.  Because of the verizon service the phone came with ios 4.2.8 which I have now upgraded to 4.2.10.  The sync process goes fine as long as i am only syncing apps, contacts, updating software, etc... The problem comes when i attempt to sync music, photos, and videos.  The sync will clear the first few steps of the process fine but will then cause itunes to essentially become unresponsive and crash.  At this point I am given a message saying windows is looking for a solution to the problem. no solution is found and the only option i am given is to close the program.  Unfortunately there is no specific error message given.  Everytime i open itunes again after the crash it will begin to sync again, slowly make a little bit more progress then crash again.  I also have an ipad and an ipod that both still sync sucessfully and do not cause itunes to crash, so im assuming the problem might be with the phone.  I have tried a full uninstall and reinstall of itunes, quicktimes, and other associated programs to no avail.  I have booted into recovery mode and completely started over with no luck.  Now im out of ideas on just what to do.  Any Thoughts?  I'm running windows 7 with the newest itunes and a verizon iphone with 4.2.10 fyi.
    Thanks

Ahhh man mine is the only discussion without any replies! Any help or suggestions welcome please!

  • I no longer have a computer and cannot put new songs on my iphone anymore. I would like to sync my phone to a friends computer, but he already has his iphone synced to that itunes. If I sync my iphone to his itunes will it delete any of his content?

I know longer have my computer because im taking time off of school. I have no way of putting fresh music on my phone and its bugging me. is it possible for me to sync my iphone to a friends computer and  his itunes if his iphone is already synced to it, without it deleting any of his memory, data, iphone settings, or songs?

It will not, but syncing it will sync all of your notes, apps, songs, and email onto his computer. I mean that he will not see your email password, but he is logged in, and can back THAT up on his phone and steal it, but no, it will not.

  • Syncing photos crashing iTunes

    Friends,
I tried to load some pictures onto my 3G iPhone (which I named Oliver). Now iTunes says the photos are on the iPhone, but I can't seem to access them from the phone. Also, whenever I try to sync now, iTunes freezes up. Any help? Besides the inevitable "get a Mac"?

    One thing you can try.
On your desktop or wherever that is convenient, create a new folder.
Call it iphone or test or just leave it untitled.
Make sure the iphone is disconnected.
    Open itunes.
Click on edit at the top of itunes and choose preferences.
In the preferences window, click on the syncing tab.
There is a check box in the syncing tab window to disable automatic syncing with all iphones and ipods.
Check the box and click ok.
Now connect the iphone and go to the photos tab when the iphone shows in itunes.
Set the iphone to sync only pictures from that empty new folder you created.
This will take off any pictures that you previously synced to the iphone.
Once the sync is complete, disconnect the iphone and confirm that all pictures (except camera roll) are removed from the iphone.
Now, start copying and pasting a few pictures into that new folder and sync the iphone until you get the same issue.
Once the issue comes up again, then something in the last group of pictures you added to the iphone might be corrupted.
    Hope this helps.
