Iphone sync creates calendar doubles

When my phone syncs it doubles everything in my calendar so I have each appointment listed twice.  Any suggestions on how to fix it?

Could use a little more information, but are you syncing through iTunes and also a service such as Google or MobileMe? If you are using Google or MobileMe, you don't need to sync contacts and calendar through iTunes.

  • IPhone sync with Calendars

When syncing my iPhone 4S with iTunes, I've just recently started getting the following message:
"iTunes could not sync calendars to the iPhone 'XXX' because the iPhone disconnected.
    I've taken the following actions:
    1.     connected the iPhone to alternative USB ports,
    2.     reset the iPhone and restored from backup
    3.      tried to sync different calendars
All of the actions yielded the same result as described above.
Interestingly, my iPad with the same content, syncs perfectly.
Can anyone tell me what's going on, and how to fix this problem - it's really annoying me, and playing havoc with my diary!

Okay so I was having the same exact problem. I was searching everywhere for answers but I finally figured it out.
My problem was that my iPhone is password protected. When I sync my iPhone now I make sure that my phone is unlocked before I try syncing.
Hopefully your phone is password protected otherwise I do not know why it is giving you that message :/

  • Is it possible to sync multiple mobileme accounts onto the iphone, syncing ical calendars for these multiple mobile me accounts ?

I am trying to sync two mobileme accounts into my iphone and each account have different calendars ( all being with ical NOT CALDAV).
Now, my question is can I sync these different calendars, belonging to different mobileme accounts, into the iphone? please assist me on this matter.
Basically i want to have a work calendar  to share with my colleagues and a personal calendar to share just with my friends and family.

You are correct.  This used to work in the past although admittedly I haven't tried it for some time as it was of no direct use for my purposes.
If the goal is to see another MobileMe account's calendar(s) on your iOS device then an alternative would be to share the calendar(s) in question to yourself.
    Example:
Assume you currently have MobileMe user account A on your iPhone.
Login to MM user account B with me.com which has the calendar you wish to have access to on your iPhone
    Click on Calendars
Click on the Share button for the calendar you wish to see added to your iPhone.
Type in the MobileMe email address for MM user account A and set it for read & write access
Login to MM user account A on me.com
Go to calendars and accept the invitation to join the calendar you sent from MM account B
Go your iPhone (you may need to turn it on and off to make the calendars refresh ) and check your calendars, you should now have the other calendars added to your MobileMe account A's calendar
Note: You can repeat step # 3 for each of the calendars you wish to see on your iPhone.

  • Iphone syncs Entourage calendar but not email

I have a mac at home, but use a pc at work that has an Exchanger Server for Outlook.
I set-up my Entourage last week on my mac at home and was able to access and sync properly with the exchange server at work. It's awesome to have my mail and calendar on my mac so I don't have to logout and back in on my windows partition of my MacBook Pro.
HOWEVER, now that I am trying to sync Entourage with my iphone, it only grabs the calendar info but no emails. I have all the boxes checked under sync services.
    Any suggestions? Thanks.

You might be able to isolate this. You say at least 75 out of 100 copy over?
If you could scan your iPhone, Kind of Jot down who got sent over, And who did not. And you might have a possible corrupt contact. If you can narrow that one contact down it possibly will resume to sync the rest.
But a couple other things could be going on. Do you have some of your contacts like in a group? or smart group? Smart groups will not Sync over to the iPhone.
You can also launch address book. Go to File - Export - Address Book Archive and save it to your desktop.
Then double click on the file you saved and say replace all. And Sync again.
Or Delete all the contacts and Groups, Then double click on the archived file you saved, and again choose Replace all. This will write all contacts back into Address Book, And try syncing again.
You can also launch iSync in Applications, Go to iSync Preferences, and Reset Sync History and Sync again and also test Syncing in different USB Ports.
    Hope something here helps out.

  • Iphone sync creates duplicates

AHHH Itunes syncing confuses me. First it created duplicates tracks on my Iphone when I synced it to my itunes library on my mac pro. Then it deleted, somewhat randomly it appears, music I had purchased on my mac form the itunes library there. I'm obviously not managing the settings regarding syncing very well. How do I delete the duplicated tracks on my Iphone?

Um... that does not contain "duplicates".
It's just a view that shows you everything that's in your other albums and events in one place...

  • IPhone Sync with calendar entries in Entourage

After I performed a synch - hardwire - between my new iPhone and my Mac through iTunes, the contacts in Entourage copied fine but none of the Entourage calendar entries. (The mailbox selected in the iPhone is Entourage). Also, my Mac continues to receive email just fine, but I cannot receive email on my iPhone. My carrier is Cox and the settings in the iPhone match those under 'account' in Entourage. Anyone know how to fix this?

    Hey Paul,
What version of Entourage are you using? If you haven't already, install the available updates.
Make sure Synchronize events and tasks with iCal is checked in the Entourage preferences as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1670
If entourage is updated and the correct sync options are checked, try Resetting the Sync History as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TA23030
Then re-enable sync settings in Entourage preferences and try syncing again.

  • 2 IPhones syncing there calendars

My wife and i both have IPhones and would like to sync both our calendars together so if she adds and event i will get the update and so on. I am using a mac (10.5) and she is using a PC (XP). is there a way to link these 2 iphone calendars together??
    Karl

Yep, but you are going to have to get MoblileMe.... basically when you get it sync them both up with the same account. So that way when you put both those phones on that account you can just update them to your hearts content, and it will wirelessly update on both phones as well as on www.me.com...

  • Outlook iPhone sync woes - calendar & Outlook?

Two possibly related issues. Brand new computer (Win 7 "Premium", 6-core AMD), same old problem only worse. Installed latest iTunes (twice - 64-bit version both times), Outlook 2007. Everything syncs fine except:
    1. Calendar does not sync, and now has no entries (except birthdays). Appointments in Outlook do not appear in the iPhone, and vice versa. Contacts & notes (& music) sync OK as near as I can tell. No error messages that I can see - iTunes briefly has a status message that the calendars are syncing, but nothing happens.
    2. Any attempt to sync causes Outlook to become a zombie - system needs a reboot. I've adopted the "work around" of only plugging the iPhone in at the end of the day before I shut the system down for the night.
I've tried to reinstall everything on the iPhone (twice) - once from backup, once "as a new phone". Lost some time, and lost all the passwords and other nice things you acquire using a phone, but no calendar. I removed all the Apple software (from the "Programs and Features" menus) - but not any registry scrubbing or searches for zombie directories, then reinstalled iTunes.
I had similar problems on the old XP machine - calendar entries stopped syncing with the upgrade from iOS 4.0 to 4.0.1, and never recovered. I did use the "Windows Migration Tool" to move settings and data from the old XP machine to Win7, and maybe that left a zombie directory or something - I did go through Apple's instructions for scrubbing the system on the XP machine, and reinstalled iTunes, with no change in the symptoms.
Does anyone know if it would help to upgrade to Outlook 2010? That being a 64-bit application (?), maybe the second issue would be resolved. But it's expensive, and otherwise 2007 works fine.
The upshot is that the iPhone is a nice phone, but is nearly useless for business without a calendar, as weak as the Apple calendar is!
    Many Thanks!
    Stuart

I found a workaround, albeit a clunky one.
Remember that I am using an iPhone 4 with Microsoft Outlook 2007 (not Exchange), and my Contacts and Notes would sync great with iTunes but the Calendar would not sync at all.
While I still demand that Apple fix this issue, the workaround is this:
1: export your Outlook calendar as a CSV file to your desktop or someplace you can easily fine
2: open a Google calendar account and go to "settings" (in the top right corner) and then "calendar settings". Click on the "calendars" tab and go down to "import calendar." Browse to your CSV file and upload it.
3: Go to your iPhone and click on settings>mail, contacts, calendars>add account>other.
4: Scroll down to "calendars" and click on "add CalDAV account." Input www.google.com for the server and your login information, then hit next. This should pull all of the CSV data you just uploaded to Google
5: The only caveat is while it uploads automatically from Google>iPhone, it doesn't do it automatically from Outlook>Google. I've set up a reminder for myself to go export that CSV file twice a week.
It ain't perfect, but it's a band-aid until they get their act together. Good luck, everyone!

  • MacBook iPhone Sync Creates Vertical Stripes on MacBook Screen

I'm at a loss on this one... I have a black MacBook and I sync my iPhone 2G with it normally. Starting yesterday, when I sync my iPhone with it, iTunes starts the sync process normally, but after a few seconds, the screen switches to thin vertical color stripes. The cursor moves, but instead of an arrow, I get a pale 3 inch square that moves with the track pad. I then must do a hard restart. My attempts to fix this include:
    - Repaired disk and permissions in single user mode with fsck and AppleJack
    - Deleted iTunes prefs
    - Restored and totally zapped iPhone to initial status
    - Tested with my wife's iPhone and has same issue
    - Downloaded iTunes and installed it again
Any other suggestions here? Thanks in advance!

    Hi Jason,
The only thing I didn't see as part of your troubleshooting work flow was resetting the SMC.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1411
It's unlikely (although anything is possible) that for video distortion the issue is software related, especially when the iPhone is connected. At first I was going to suggest the remote possibility that the phone was possibly the culprit but the fact that a second iPhone also does the same thing would lead me to believe that's not the case.
After resetting the SMC, if the issue persists, the next step is to arrange a hardware repair on the machine or at least have it further diagnosed. What about an iPod? Do you own one or have a buddy with one that you can verify?
It's possible that there's a power management issue between the USB bus and the Inverter (backlight) or even the LVDS cable (video to the display). Resetting the SMC, is the first step to begin to determine what the problem is and how to properly proceed based on the result would be a hardware diagnosis via a service provider.

  • IPhoto-iPhone sync creates duplicate photos

Every time I sync my iphone with iPhoto, it duplicates photos. It's not photos that were taken with the iphone, but photos that I have imported from other sources, such as wallpaper images. Every week or so I go through and delete hundreds of duplicates. It does this even when specify NOT to import duplicates. Is there any way to stop this behavior?
    Thanks!

Try deleting the iPhoto preference file - quit iPhoto and delete it ("your user name" ==> library ==> preferences ==> com.apple.iPhoto.plist) launch iPhoto and reset any user preferences you have changed and if you have moved the location of the iPhoto library repoint to it

  • What way can I format my emails so iphone can create calendar events automatically with all the information?

I use a website to send emails to myself. It already sorta creates the calendar event but requires a lot of editing. The link-back to the email makes it super easy to just go to the original. But I'm wondering if there's a specific format I can put the emails so that when creating the calendar event, it just has all the information, instead of parts of it?

Please don't respond with useless comments.  I've already addressed the fact that my screen was broken a few months ago.  My phone may or may not be broken beyond repair either way, as I said before I can't afford a new phone.  It's a strange problem because from what I can tell no one else has posted the same problem anywhere I can find.  Don't be a dickhole.

  • Can't sync gmail calendar on iPad

I have been using an iPhone and iPad2 and syncing my google email and calendar without problem. A few days ago, I changed my gmail password. Now, both the iPhone and iPad sync the email, and the iPhone syncs the calendar but the iPad does not sync the calendar. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get the iPad to sync calendars?

I had a similiar problem, with my multiple devices.  I open iTunes and when all devices were connected I went to the info section on each device.  Under info I checked the sync calandars. Under that I click all calanders. I then did the apply in low right. I then did the sync function and it fixed it for me.  You have to do this for each device.
I also checked the device (ipad,Iphone) themselves and change the calander selection to NO Catagory.  Hope this helps.

  • How can I sync "On My Mac" iCal calendars on Snow Leopard with iPhone and Google Calendar?

    Hi,
(I've done a lot of searching for a clear answer but without success.)
Can someone please advise how I can get the "On My Mac" calendars on iCal v4.0.4 (running under Snow Leopard 10.6.8) to sync with an iPhone and Google Calendars,  'over the air' (i.e. not via iTunes) and both ways (two-way syncing).
There was a great bit of software called Spanning Sync which did it all but it's now discontinued. I'm running Snow Leopard and do NOT want to upgrade to OS Lion.
I've tried the iCloud route but it just creates an extra set of "@me.com" calendars under the "On My Mac" calendars - it is not syncing the "On My Mac" calendars themselves (and I want to use the "On My MAc" calendars as the master dataset (the 'Truth database' to use an Apple term!).
... And the same happens when I try to sync my Google Calendars: another set of "@google.com" calendars appear.
Now instead of 2 calendars in iCal I have 6: 2 On My Mac calendars, 2 iCloud ones, and 2 Google ones. (This is not progress Apple!)
    Hope someone can advise.
    Many thanks.

Thanks Winston.  I'm aware that the 'on my mac' calendar doesn't get picked up by iCloud.  I'm wondering whether anyone can help with the best alternative solution for synchronisation of phone and Outlook.
