IPhone sync on office and home PC

I have what should be a simple and common problem:
Home PC with music, apps, books, photos and videos.
Office PC with contacts, calendar, notes.
Notebook which I use when traveling.
How can I connect my devices (iPhone 4 - iPad) to all computers and just have them synced ?
I can forget about the Notebook, which can stay unsynced, but I need to be able to connect my phone to my home and office PCs and still have my data synced.
With the old iTunes I just selected once on each computer what I wanted to get synced and the job was done.
Now with iTunes 10, whenever I connect my phone or iPad to a PC I get all data erased and written again with only the data I have on that particular PC.

While it has been possible, in the past, to sync contacts & calendars on more than one computer, Apple has never officially supported such and in fact has warned against doing so. Although I have not tested this with iTunes 10.0, from what you're saying, it would appear that Apple has now formally removed the ability the sync contacts & calendars on more than one computer.

I am disappointed I cannot sync my office and home computers music using my 64gig ipad 3.
Any suggestions?  I have seen some 3rd party apps $$.
I have an office mac and a home PC. I continue to be disappointed by what my ipad cannot do, as intuitive to use as apple products are supposed to be.
Now that I have shoved all my CDs into Itunes at work, you think I would not have to do it again at home when I have the library on my ipad.

iDevices are now and always have been uni-directional for syncing. You sync from the computer to the iDevice. You cannot sync from the iDevice to the computer except if you have downloaded something directly from Apple to your iDevice. Then iTunes will allow you to sync these new acquisitions because they are not in your iTunes Library.
To do any differently requires a third-party utility such as Phone to Mac - Pod to Mac.

  • My HTC no longer syncs with my calendar on my office and home computers.

The message that came up on both my office and home computer monitors stated that the sync with google calendar could not initialize and "click here" for an explanation. I clicked here, and that linked me to support.google.com. And that said Google was no longer going to support the Google Sync. There was a lot of other gobbledy gook which, to me, said that Google would still let you sync, but you had to sign up for the Google Apps for Business, Education, and Government. And, this means they are going to charge you for the ability to sync. Does anyone have a solution for this? The title to the Google link was "Google Sync End of Life."

It's strictly a google issue - not a Verizon issue. Technically, your HTC actually IS SYNCING FINE but there is nothing to sync because GoogleSync is not doing its job and it is by google's decision.
If you want google calendar sync functionality off web on a desktop (meaning not in a browser), you will need to pay. You can pay google or get an account with an MSExchange host (under $10/month) and get your calendars to sync. However, if you are paying anyway, I would use google.

  • Wann sync iPhone with work PC and home PC

    Hi,
please help!!! Wanna sync my iPhone with work PC and home PC without deleting always the whole content on it.
    thanks

The iphone will sync itunes content and pics with one and only one computer at a time. If you sync itunes content and/or pics to another computer, then the itunes content and pics ( photo album) will first be erased from the iphone, then replace with content from the new computer.
What is it that you are trying to sync?

    Sync iPod/iPad/iPhone with two computers
Although it isn't possible to sync an Apple device with two different libraries it is possible to sync with the same logical library from multiple computers. Each library has an internal ID and when iTunes connects to your iPod/iPad/iPhone it compares the local ID with the one the device normally syncs with. If they are the same you can go ahead and sync...
I have my library cloned to a small 1Tb USB drive which I can take between home & work. At either location I use SyncToy 2.1 to update the local copy with the external drive. Mac users should be able to find similar tools. I can open either of the local libraries or the one on the external drive and update the media content of my iPhone. The slight exception is Photos which normally connects to a specific folder on a specific machine, although that can easily be remapped to the current library if you create a "Photos" folder inside the iTunes Media folder so that syncing the iTunes folders keeps this up to date as well. I periodically sweep my library for new files & orphans withiTunes Folder Watch just in case I make changes at one location but then overwrite the library with a newer copy from the other. Again Mac users should be able to find similar tools.
As long as your media is organised within an iTunes Music or Tunes Media folder, in turn held inside the main iTunes folder that has your library files (whether or not you let iTunes keep the media folder organised) each library can access items at the same relative path from the library folder so the library can be at different drives/paths on different machines. This solution ensures I always have adequate backups of my library and I can update my devices whenever I can connect to the same build of iTunes.
When working with an iPhone earlier builds of iTunes would remove any file not physically present in the local library, even if there was an entry for it, making manual management practically redundant on the iPhone. This behaviour has been changed but it will still only permit manual management with a library that has the correct internal ID. If you don't want to sync your library between machines on a regular basis just copy the iTunes Library.itl file from the current "home" machine to any other you want to use, then clean out the library entires and import the local content you have on that box.

  • Novice trying to connect between office and home MACs

    Advice for system novice
trying to connect between office and home MACs
Office MAC OSX 10.2.8 (also runs classic mode)
G4 Computer in the office (only mac in office all others are PC)
I need to connect home computer
IMAC OSX 10.4 Tiger. Connecting via cable modem and have router
I do not have good networking skills, i this something that is doable myself or should I call in a pro?

    It's doable.
But at home you need to find the "outside" IP that the Internet sees, not the one you see on that machine.
    what's my ip...
    http://www.whatsmyip.org/
Then you'll need to "Forward Ports" on the home router so incoming stuff knows where to go.
Then you'll need to enable the Services you wish to use on both machines.

which type of microsoft office and home can i buy for my imac os x g4 v10.4.11 also what type of antivirus do i buy.

That's a valid question as your OS is somewhat vulnerable, although most modern malware will only execute on an Intel Mac, there has been at least one that is PPC savy.  Your best defense against that would be to keep Java turned off in all browsers.
The problem you will find is that most A-V software these days is also Intel only or requires Leopard.
ClamXav requires OS X 10.5 or above, but you can still find a Tiger version here.
Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac Home Edition looks like it will still work.

  • HT201401 my iphone's sleep wake and home buttons are not woking

my iphone's sleep wake and home buttons are not working

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    -  Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Can iphone sync with Mac and PC itunes for different data ?

I have a Mac at home where I keep my music and personal email and then a PC at work where I keep my 1000+ contacts and calendar in Outlook. Will I be able to set my MBP Itunes to sync .mac email and music/tv/podcasts/etc. only while at the same time set the itunes at work to sync Outlook contacts and calendar? This would give me the perfect information that I need on my iphone.
    any help is appreciated, thanks

I have a similar problem in that I'm using a MacPro to sync iTunes with my iPod yet I have a MacBook Pro that I run Parallels/WinXP Pro to run Outlook and my CRM of choice, ACT.
CompanionLink (www.companionlink.com) has just announced an update that will allow PC users to sync ACT, Goldmine with the iPod through Outlook on the same PC. The synching works in both directions so that contact or calendar changes you make on the iPod will be updated on your PC CRM program.
I've been using Companionlink for years on PCs to sync to various Palm devices including my current phone, the Treo 700P (Palm). It works well and tech support is friendly and effective.
Since switching to Macs in January and run all of my PC apps on Parallels/WinXP, the CompanionLink software has worked very well in this environment.
As soon as iPhones are in stock near me, I plan on switching from Verizon to ATT just so that I can have an iPhone. I hate the Treo so bad that I'm willing to pay the $175 Verizon service termination fee to get the iPhone.
One thing that I will miss, although I don't use it much, is the ability to use my Treo via Bluetooth connection to my MacBook as a modem for broadband access while on the road. I've been told that you cannot do this with the iPhone.
    Cheers.

  • Ipod & iphone with office and home pc??

    HELP!!
I have a iPod & iPhone. The ipod is synced to my office computerand the iphone is synced to my home computer. I want to put some of the music from my ipod onto the iphone. I am getting a messege that says I can only be synced to one library.
HOW do i get my ipod music onto my iphone?

Since you can only sync to one library, you'll need to transfer some of your songs on your work iTunes library to your home computer. You can use a CD/DVD/thumb drive, etc.

  • Sync with Work and Home Computer?

I'm moving from a Blackberry where I'm always in sync. How am I going to be able to sync up at the office (with my work computer) and then come home and sync again at home? I don't need to sync any media at work, just calendar. Any ideas on what can be done? Is this possible?

How am I going to be able to sync up at the
office (with my work computer) and then come home and
sync again at home? I don't need to sync any media
at work, just calendar. Any ideas on what can be
    done? Is this possible?
I was able to do this successfully. I have a Mac at home and Windows at work. I upgraded iTunes on both to v7.3 so it would recognize the iPhone as being connected. Under iTunes>Edit>Preferences iPhone tab, you can tell it if you want you want to "disable automatic syncing for all iPhones".
With the phone connected, it shows up under Devices and you have a tab to represent the different types of data/content you want to sync. On the PC I only do my Outlook calendar, so I just check "Sync calendars from: Outlook" for iTunes on the PC, and uncheck all the others (e.g. Music, Photos, Video). On the Mac, I do the reverse. So far it is working as expected.
Note that it does pop a dialog saying that the information on this iPhone "is synced with another user account", and asks if you want to Merge or Replace info. I find this a little confusing, as I use the same phone and account on both PCs. I merged, and it has been ok.

  • Can I set-up exact same firefox in looks and function on both office and home pc's?

I would like to "clone" my office firefox on my home pc so that I would be looking at the same view and capabilities in both pc's. This is possible with my Yahoo and Yahoo Mail login sites.

You can do this with the [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2109/ FEBE] add-on. It can be used to synchronize the entire user profile if you want, or just the items that you select.
If you want to keep bookmarks, history, tabs and password in sync, you can use the [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/10868/ Firefox Sync] add-on.

  • Music syncing with work and home computers

Can you sync your iphone so it syncs music from more than one computer? I would like my music on both my home computer and work computer, and want to have the iphone (if I get one) to sync with both

    You're welcome.
You can sync or transfer iTunes content only with a compatible Mac or Windows PC and sync other data with a Mac or Windows PC. You can disable automatic syncing and make various selections for syncing content with whichever computer the iPhone is connected to.
A number of folks sync their contact information and calendar events only with Outlook on a Windows PC and all other content with a Mac.
