IPhone sync restore deleted everything !!

Okay, I need some seriously help. I am not really tech savvy so if anyone can explain how to fix this problem to me in "iphone for dummy" terms please let me know.
So my old laptop with everything on it crashed so I got the harddrive completely replaced and everything has been moved to an external harddrive. So on this "new" computer it has nothing on, and when I go to put all my stuff back onto my iphone is says, "This iphone needs to be restored" or something like that.
So I synced  my iphone to my new computer and it says, "This computer has been previously synced with an iPhone or another iOS device." and it's saying to restore it as if it was a brand new iphone. I didn't choose the option yet, but since it restored it, my phone is basically on factory mode. I have nothing on it. Does that means that all my contacts, notes, pictures, etc is being removed forever?
I mean I don't mind the music or apps because I can always reupload it from the external harddrive, but now I don't have my contacts, notes, voice memos, pictures that I have had on my phone for almost 2 years now! I don't know what to do and I am freaking out to be honest. Is there anyway I can fix this??

If you reloaded everything to your laptop from your back ups, you shouldn't have a problem.

I upgraded itunes since a pop up stated that I would have to upgrade it so it can recognize my iphone5's new software. I upgraded the itunes and now when I plug in the iphone its asking "set up as new iphone" will this delete everything on my phone? Also why is it forcing me to set up as a new iphone, why doesn't it recognize it like it did before I upgraded iTunes. I'm afaid I will lose all my apps, music, pictures etc. please help. thank you.

You are correct. Corrupted files are in the backup. If you've already restored the iPhone it has been erased and starting over is the way to go in order to eliminate the corrupted files.
    Hope that helps

  • How to free up storage on iPhone 5 without deleting everything I have?

How can I free up storage on iPhone 5 without deleting everything I have, which isn't much? And if I delete things off of my phone, am I going to ever get them back?

The easiest way is to connect to iTunes and update from there.  Or, yes, you will have to delete a few of your largest programs, download & update to iOS7 and then re-download those programs you deleted.

  • How do I manually sync without deleting everything on my iphone?

A few weeks ago my computer broke and I lost everything on it, I got a mac book pro and but now when I try to add songs to my iphone from it it wont let me. If I click sync manually it wll erase everything on the iphone. How do I add songs to my iphone without deleting everything on it?

    1) authorize iTunes on the new machine for your iTunes store account(s)
    2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
    3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPhone but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPhone with it.

  • Does itunes restore deletes everything permanently?

I had an iPod Touch 5th generation 16gb for iOS 7.1.2, and sold it off to eBay. I used the iTunes restore option to restore it into a new device by downloading the core software from Apple's servers, and starting fresh. I am just wondering does iTunes restoring to a new device permanently deletes everything on that iPod?I see software that claims to crack the security of iPods and iPhones and retrieve lost or deleted data.

The erase all contents and settings effectively deletes all of your information.  I say effectively because if someone wanted to spend enough money they could retrieve information, but that will cost a very large sum.  Only alternative is to destroy the device or have access to a high security erasing system that will overwrite the storage multiple times.
You can feel comfortable that your information has been erased on the iPod you sold...retrieval would not be worth the effort.

  • IPhone syncing restoring issues between 4S and 5 and iCloud issues between send & receive addresses

First question: I just bought the iPhone 5 and I am trying to sync/restore all of my information (docs, data, photos) from 4S to the 5 via iTunes and iCloud but it will not let me do it. So how can sync all of my contacts, photos and documents (especially important text messages) from the 4S to 5?
Second question: I also want to know how can I stop sending and receiving messages from BOTH phones! I have two different companies and two different phone numbers but both phones share the SAME iCloud account? Should I have created a new one when I first activated the 5?
Please help I've only been an iPhone and iTunes user since November 2012 and I don't know what I am doing!!

Apparently you must be very narrow minded. I don't want to develop an e-mail client from the scratch.
I would implement the sync the following way.
Assuming I use POP3 on both my iPhone and my MacBook. On my iPhone mail client I am downloading e-mails and reading them from time to time and replying. There is an ended set of what you actions you can do with your e-mails. Every e-mail has a unique ID / fingerprint - you can recognize it with 100% accuracy. I'm also downloading e-mails on my MacBook mac mail and performe the same ended set of actions on this e-mails. So the system architecture should be as follows:
    1. MacBook mail client queues all the actions I have performed with my e-mails on my MacBook.
    2. iPhone mail client does the same - creates a queues with actions I have performed on my iPhone.
    3. If I have the syncing turned on on both of my devices and I'm logged in on both of them with the same Apple ID both devices process the queues to my iCloud, compare it and update status of my e-mails according to the actions in each queue.
So I will rather wait until Apple will do this simple solution.

Since iOS7 is not officially out, you would have to be a developer to download the beta version. If you are a developer, go tho the developer forum, this is the only place where you can get help.

  • I06 update keeps prompting me to restore my iPhone and has deleted everything from my phone. Please help

Please help. While trying to upgrade to the i06 it keeps prompting me to restore over and over

  • IPhone sync - restoring missing photos in iPhoto from the phone

I have recently restored from a Time Machine backup, and several recent photo imports are now missing from iPhoto. (Yes, I have tried to rebuild the library, but they are still missing.) The photos still exist on my iPhone, but when I plug it in, it only allows me to import from the 'Camera Roll' album, and not the 'Photo Library' album, where the missing photos still exist. So:
Question #1 - If I allow iTunes to perform a photo sync, will it replace the whole 'Photo Library' album, thereby deleting the photos that only exist on my phone? Or is this a two-way sync, which would happily reinsert my missing photos back into iPhoto? (Wishful thinking I'm guessing).
Question #2 - Is there a way to pull those photos from the iPhone manually, so I can re-import them into iPhoto?

Yes and Yes (using third party software or emailing them, or uploading them) but remember that the ones on the iPhone are compressed optimised versions just for the iPhone display - not the originals.

  • Please help - iphone 5 has deleted everything on update..

Apologies if this has been posted before...i saw a couple of other posts with similar problems but mines slightly different
My girlfriend went to update her iphone 5 as normal. When she did this, it popped up with a screen showing the itunes logo and the charger wire connecting to it, basically asking to be connected to itunes.
So she plugged it into my macbook (she doesn't have her own) and it asked to restore it but then said everything (contacts, texts, pictures) etc would be put back on, so we went ahead with it.
After an hour of this processing and doing something a few times with no options for us to click anything apart from continue, my girlfriends phone is now as if new - no contats, no numbers, no texts, no photo's, no nothing.
She tried to log into her instagram account which one of the very few apps left on there and it said it needed an upgrade. So she tried to upgrade that and it shows my appleid (from my itunes/  macbook etc) so she can't download it.
On itunes the only back ups available are ones from the day when she bought it, so hence why they have been reset to having nothing on her phone.
Apologies for the long winded message, but any help any one can give will be great appreciated.

  • Synced and deleted everything??

I'm sorry. I'm a PC person and I simply don't understand this and I'm about to lose it. I will resist the temptation to make jokes about the UI of itunes. Instead here are my questions...
    - I sync my iPad. I add apps that I wanna send to my iPad. I already have a bunch of things on my iPad. Syncing ends, I get a notice that iPad couldn't sync because there was a disconnection error. There was no disconnection. I disconnect my iPad. ALL my apps are gone. ALL of them. Question is WHY?
    - Backing up my iPad was running for 35 minutes and had gotten about 5% done. Again...why?
    - Finally, what is the concept behind this whole syncing thing? I just don't understand. Ho does this work? Someone please explain the idea of syncing to me, I simply don't understand how this is supposed to be done. To me copying would be logical from A to B. I'm not trying to be facetious or difficult, I simply don't understand. Why would I want my computer to be the same as my iPad?
I'm sorry if these are PC noob questions, but I thought thi was supposed to be so much easier than any other computer. Please help.

Just my opinion but downloading and managing apps is much simpler if iTunes is used, I download the required app's, connect the iPad or iPhone select the apps tab here I can select or deselect the apps I want on the iPad by ticking the box by the app, I can also rearrange where the apps appear on the various pages by dragging them to the required page.
If your apps have gone missing look in iTunes and make sure you have the box ticked and perform a sync.
I find iTunes excellent for managing my apps, some little used apps can be put on when needed and then removed, note not deleted ! until next needed, also you can manage your apps with iPad, iPhone, iPod all from the same program, when you plug in a different device you get the opportunity to manage your apps as described above, iTunes supports quite a few different devices, I manage, my wife's phone, my son's phone, my phone, my iPod and my iPad all from the same program, iTunes is smart enough to recognise each device and allows me to manage each one differently as required.
