IPhone syncing, new computer old iphone.... major issues.

I recently bough a new macbook pro, i have an old iphone 2g (dont ask me why i still have this ancient beauty, i just love it). However I havent updated my iphone in over a year and need to update it.
Since this is a new computer and I do not have the other one, which I would usually use to connect to my iPhone, the new computer won't let me sync anything without deleting everything on it.
How do I sync all my stuff (or at least all my contacts to my address book) so that i can restore and update the iphone 2g for to this new computer??? thx for the time.
o and is there any good free 3rd party software that can assist in this if apple can't... and no i do not have a backup on my new mbp, so i can't just restore and use a backup.

I already have some contacts in my address book. So I tried to look for the iPhone under >import however, nothing.... So do i just press sync on my iphone on itunes? Will it give me the option as soon as i press it or just delete everything.... dont want to press something and make a mistake that will cost me all my contacts.

    Sequence of events:
1/ I deleted itunes from old computer and installed on new computer.
2/Downloaded 3rd party software to sync and install library from ipod touch into itunes on new computer.
3/library successfully transferred, but I can't get all of my applications and some bought items to appear on ipod.
I've tried the whole authorise computer thing to no avail.
    Can anyone help?

2/Downloaded 3rd party software to sync and install library from ipod touch into itunes on new computer.
You should have just copied \Music\iTunes\ folder from the old computer to the new computer.
but I can't get all of my applications and some bought items to appear on ipod
Connect thr iPod touch and select it in iTunes.
Click the Applications tab across the top.
Tick the apps you want to install onto the touch.

  • New computer/old ipod - how do I update my libray from my ipod?

new computer/old ipod - how do I update my libray from my ipod? the music wasn't transfered from cd's, shared music files...no purchased from the ipod store.

The ipod is not a storage/backup device. The sync is one way - computer to ipod.  The only exception is itunes purchases:  File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.  Use your backup copy to put everything on your new computer.

  • Trying to reload adobe 10 and 7 on new computer. old one crashed. shows i need a serial number

purchased adobe 10 and 7 -- 2012 and 2013 -- trying to install on new computer. old one crashed. shows i need serial number. where do i get it. only have 6 discs.

Adobe is a company... what does "Adobe 10" and "Adobe 7" mean?
If you bought those on disc I don't think they are part of the Cloud
The serial number is usually on a sticker on the disc holder inside the box
If you lost your serial number check https://www.adobe.com/account.html for your registered products

Need to transfer Acrobat Pro to new computer, old computer crashed so I can't disable/uninstall.  What do I do?

Install it on the new machine, if you have run out of Activations then you will probably need to contact Adobe and explain what happened as far as the old computer crash and burning.

  • I transferred my library to my new computer (old one completely dead!) and the music transferred but not my audio books.  They aren't appearing in my purchased history.  Can anyone help?

I transferred my library to my new computer (old one dead!) and the music transferred to a new library ok, but not my audiobooks.  My purchased history doesn't show any purchasing in this format.  Can anyone help?

Audiobooks are a one-time only download from the store, so you won't be able to redownload them via the Purchased link. Do you have a copy of them on your iPod or on your backup of your downloads/library ? If not, and if they are still in your country's store, then you can try contacting iTunes Support and see if they will grant you a re-download : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

  • Syncing new computer with old music files with Iphone.

Hello all, recently I got a new computer and transfered all my old music files over and updated my itunes on my new pc. I also de-authorized my old pc and authorized my new pc. However, when I plug in my Iphone into my new computer it doesn't seem to be syncing at all. I've also added a new album to my music files on my new pc and since my iphone isn't syncing, the songs haven't shown up on my phone. I was wondering does anyone have a solution to this? or what I need to do to have my new pc syncing with my iphone?
    Thanks.

    Can someone help here?

  • I cant seem to sync my iphone to my new computer, old one died.

I cant sync my phone to itunes on my new computer.  it only recognizes my old computer

What happens when you try? Are you seeing a warning about deleting your iTunes library? Did you copy your iTunes library from the old computer? Did you have a backup of the old computer that contained the iTunes folder/library?

  • Iphone, new computer, old computer crashed

Old computer crashed. Hard drive destroyed and no backup (I know, I know). Question. Is there any way to get data from Iphone (music, contacts, etc.) onto the new computer?
    Thanks.

Contacts will sync to your new PC just make sure you create at least a contact in your new Address Book so that the info can merge between PC and iPhone

  • Got a new computer. old computer fell unable to access any infrmation how do i safely get the music stored on my iphone back on itunes and how can i get my aps back that where erased when trying to syn my iphone to my new computer

This my second computer in the last two years. The first one fell and broke but I had only $20 worth of Itune stuff on the first one so I did not bother however this second computer I have tons of apps and music. I have lost all my apps while I was trying to backup my iphone with my new computer. I am wondering how can i get those apps back. How can I safely syn my iphone to my new computer without losing any more stuff.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.  Certainly after losing everything once, you started doing the basics and have a backup copy.
Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup ( twice), then you can transfer itunes purchases from the iphone:  Without syncing:  File>Transfer Purchases
Make sure that you have your computer authorized to your itunes account.

  • New computer, old iPhone

I need to change which computer (PC) I sync my iPhone on...I don't want to lose all my photos, contacts, etc. to upgrade to 2.0 and the original computer that I used no longer exists.
There has to be a way to tell the phone to consider the new computer as the "default"
    Please help!

Unless you maintained a backup for your original computer that included your iTunes library and photos transferred from the computer to your iPhone, some of this data available on your iPhone may be lost.
The sync process for iTunes content and for photos transferred to your iPhone is a one way transfer process only - from your computer to your iPhone.
Contact info, calendar events, and bookmarks is designed to be synced with the supported application on your computer. With Windows, this can be with Outlook 2003 or 2007 for contact info and calendar events, or with the address book used by Outlook Express with XP or the address book used by Windows Mail with Vista - the name change for OE for contact info.
iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content that was purchased from the iTunes store from an iPod or iPhone, but this is for content that was purchased from the iTunes store only.
First you need to authorize the new or different computer with the same iTunes account with iTunes. With your iPhone connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.
Photos transferred from your computer to your iPhone are optimized for viewing on your iPhone via the iTunes sync process. Since the original resolution of these photos would be lost if it were possible to transfer such photos in the opposite direction, Apple doesn't include a method for doing so. I believe there is a 3rd party utility that provides for this, but the original resolution of these photos will be lost, and such a utility is not supported by Apple if it causes any problems.

  • Syncing to new computer without losing data - Issue.

Hi all. I have previously made a thread on this issue but things have changed since and so has the original problem, so I thought it needed a new discussion.
I'm currently moving my iPhone from my old Vista PC to my newer Macbook Pro (OS X Lion), without losing data.
As advised, I followed this tutorial: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141
However, after the restore had finished, only my apps were syncing with the new computer. If I want to sync my music or tones etc, it still wants me to erase my iPhone.
Is there another way to get around this? I've reached the stage where it's syncing apps, so I'm almost there... I'd just like to sync the rest too.
    All help is appreciated.
    Thanks.

Firstly, my response was directed to the message with the picture. I don't have the same music as I had before, and unlike the OP who resolved it that way, I lost some music because in order to sync to my new computer I needed to erase all my music on my iphone first! I mean how stupid is that. Leave my music alone and put new music on it!
Look I love my iphone and I'm not hear to promote Samsung (fyi, there are other android companies). What I tried to say was that apple should stop being stupid and change itunes so that I can drag and drop, use multiple computers (because some households have that!), and not have a hassle with simple tasks like that! The ultimatium is change itunes or face costumers leaving your product behind! In the end I wish to keep using the iphone but solely because of itunes I can't and won't!
