IPhone Syncing Problems and

Everytime I sync now. It takes a longer amount of time to sync. Even if there is nothing there. It takes over 5 minutes versus a minute or less. What happnes if you do a restore to your iPhone? How much stuff do you lose? Do you lose all your contacts if you havent synced them from your Address Book?

There's more to sync, so it will take longer. Even if you haven't changed any contacts or other content it must compare the desktop to the phone to know that.

  • IPhone sync problem with iCal and Address Book

I have a new iPhone 4 that is not syncing contacts or events. It doesn't seem to matter whether the event or contact is created in my iMac or on the iPhone. Either way, the data doesn't move. During the iPhone synch process, where iTunes tells you what is going on, syncing calendars and contacts doesn't even appear. When I had my iPod Touch, all worked well. I saw a post about resetting in iSync, etc., but when I look there, I don't even see my iPhone, and so far I can't add it. My only option there is to add a bluetooth device. So I need some help. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    You're welcome.
You can't hurt anything by resetting the sync history on your Mac, and doing so may resolve the problem.
Syncing contacts direct with a supported Address Book application and syncing calendar events direct with a supported Calendar app on your computer via the iTunes sync process has nothing to do with a MobileMe account - a trial account or otherwise. Completely separate and not related even if you are syncing contacts and calendar events over the air with your MobileMe account on your iPhone. If you are doing so with your iPhone, syncing direct with the Address Book and iCal via the iTunes sync process is not required.

  • IPhone Sync Problems with VISTA After iTunes Upgrade to 7.4

Upon upgrading to iTunes 7.4 I was unable to sync my Outlook calendar or contacts to the iPhone. Called Apple Support that they seemed to know nothing about this problem general problem despite all of the discussions on this and many other tech. boards.
After being told remove and reinstall iTunes and Outlook, set-up a new user account, etc... (none of which worked) I finally concluded that perhaps the .pst file being used by outlook was simply incompatible with iTunes for some reason (e.g. unsupported recurring calendar items).
SOLUTION: Create a new outlook .pst data file. Once created, open up that new file along with the defective .pst file. Then, simply change the view of calendars and contacts in your old calendar such that you can see all of the items in a list. Highlight the items you want to keep and simply click-and-drag them to the nes .pst file. This solves all of the sync. problems I had post-7.4 upgrade. It takes less than 3 minutes to complete this painless fix.
This was so annoying for me that I'd be happy to help someone complete this simple task if they need help. < Edited by Host, for your protection, no personal information please. >

  • New iphone syncing problems, causing itunes to crash

I just purchased a verizon iphone yesterday and am in the process of setting up the phone to my liking.  Because of the verizon service the phone came with ios 4.2.8 which I have now upgraded to 4.2.10.  The sync process goes fine as long as i am only syncing apps, contacts, updating software, etc... The problem comes when i attempt to sync music, photos, and videos.  The sync will clear the first few steps of the process fine but will then cause itunes to essentially become unresponsive and crash.  At this point I am given a message saying windows is looking for a solution to the problem. no solution is found and the only option i am given is to close the program.  Unfortunately there is no specific error message given.  Everytime i open itunes again after the crash it will begin to sync again, slowly make a little bit more progress then crash again.  I also have an ipad and an ipod that both still sync sucessfully and do not cause itunes to crash, so im assuming the problem might be with the phone.  I have tried a full uninstall and reinstall of itunes, quicktimes, and other associated programs to no avail.  I have booted into recovery mode and completely started over with no luck.  Now im out of ideas on just what to do.  Any Thoughts?  I'm running windows 7 with the newest itunes and a verizon iphone with 4.2.10 fyi.
    Thanks

Ahhh man mine is the only discussion without any replies! Any help or suggestions welcome please!

  • IPhone Sync issue (and album art messed up)

Whenever I sync my iPhone with iTunes, instead of just updating the media I have changed, it will randomly add anywhere between 30 to 300 songs that were already on my iPhone. It doesn't cause any problems with using the iPhone other then the fact that it takes a really long time to sync even when I don't change anything or add new media to sync with the iPhone.
    So far I have:
-made sure I have the latest updates of iTunes and all software
    -re-set iSync
    -done an archive and install
-had a genius appointment at the Genius Bar at the Apple Store and
    -they replaced my iPhone
...but my problems still exist. And on top of that, all of the album artwork on the iPhone is jumbled up. It looks fine in cover flow, but when I switch to the normal mode it will be the wrong artwork with the wrong song. My album artwork in itunes is not jumbled up, but all of the artwork for the movies and tv shows I have bought and downloaded from the iTunes Store has disappeared and I can't get it back by searching for album artwork.
So, to recap, my 3 main problems are.
    1) iPhone Sync issue
    2) Album artwork jumbled up on iPhone
    3) TV Show and Movie artwork disappearing on iTunes
If anyone can help your time would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.

  • Sync problem and unusual amount of "Other" in memory usage

I have an iPod touch with 8.1.2 installed.
I will begin by the sync problems I was experiencing two days ago. First, some songs I tried to manually add were greyed out in the list. Then the sync got stuck at "Waiting for chagnes to apply". Then, all the songs in the iPod seemingly got corrupted. After some restores, the memory usage bar showed DOUBLE the amount of memory used, and half of that was "Other". 48 GB of "Other".
After restoring a copy from the day before, and then installing 8.1.2 (I had 8.1.1) the iPod seemed to sync right. Then, I noticed two things. First, many songs and albums didn't had the artwork. Second, many songs were missing. (I should say that I manually manage the music in my iPod). Today, I started manually adding songs and albums. After syncing many album covers were still missing. Then, after adding some abums, almost 10GB of "Other" appeared on the usage bar.
I would like to know how to solve this issue.

Restore the iPod since you have to remove the corruption and also:
stuck on waiting for changes to be applied
Waiting for changes to be applied solution

  • Pearl syncing problems and unspecified errors

    Hello all,
I have had this bbpearl flip for about a month now, and over christmas I added email and total internet to my phone package, so I am in the process of setting up all of that. Ever since I enabled the web and whatnot, I have been having sync problems. I tried to add email addresses to my outlook contacts by importing a .csv file, which gave me a box that said "Unspecified Error occured" during the sync. I have reinstalled the desktop manager software (v4.6) and the device software, and restored my harddrive to an earlier version. Everything seemed fine until I tried to use my bluetooth adapter to sync with my laptop. Turns out that the adapter doesn't work very well with Vista (which is what I have) so I have abandoned that idea for now. This morning when I plugged in my phone to sync, I am getting an Unspecified Error again. The last time I synced this way it worked just fine, and I don't know of anything I have done in the meantime to mess it up. Any ideas?

I have the same problem, i think its record 55. However i am sync'ing from the device to outlook. How do I find record 55 and how do I inspect from device...
    Hello,
I haven't had to do so in quite some time, but I recall that if you do an export from Outlook, the order the data is in will be the same order that the sync process uses...which should enable you to find the record in question. However, that's from Outlook to the device...and you say you are doing the reverse...
Perhaps if you use the Desktop Software to perform an export from the BB, the records may well be in the order needed?
    Good luck!

  • Iphone syncs music and photos, not calendars and contacts

I have had my Iphone since last July, and have had virtually no issues with it. However, since the last security update, I have been unable to successfully sync my iphone to my powerbook. The phone is properly recognized, and I can initiate a sync, but the sync seems to get stuck synchronizing contacts. Nothing freezes - the computer and phone are still operational- it just seems that the sync doesn't ever end. I even let it run overnight, without success. The same thing occurs if avoid syncing contacts, and start with syncing calendars. However, if I don't sync calendars or contacts, music and photos sync properly, and the sync completes itself.
I tried restarting the iphone and re-installing itunes, without success.
Please let me know if anyone out there has any ideas.

In the back of my computer. There isn't one on the side or front. I've checked the USB settings and it says that it's a 2.0

  • IPhone Wifi problems and Warranty Query.

    Hi there,
I've been having serious trouble with my iPhone, the problem is that it won't pick up a wifi signal unless I hold the phone literally a foot away from the router (I've tried this with 3/4 routers I've had access to).
I've tried restoring the iPhone as well as trying all the fixes mentioned in the Apple article regarding the issue such as resetting network settings, etc.
I phoned Apple and they said that seeing my iPhone was purchased in Spain that they can't fix it here in the U.K. I thought this was diabolical considering that the warranty is a worldwide one, or at least I thought that it was.
Could someone clarify this issue as I find it hard to believe that an international company would have such localised policies regarding warranty validity.

While most Apple warranties are world wide, the iPhone warranty can only be used in the country where the iPhone was originally sold:
    http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/service/faq/#repair2
+Can I get my iPhone serviced outside the country of purchase?+
+No, service for eligible repairs is only available in the country where your iPhone was originally purchased.+
If you want it replaced, you will have to deal with Apple's departments in Spain.

  • Ipad and iphone syncing problems results in lost work

    Hello all,
Sorry if this is treated elsewhere but i couldnt quite find it. I got pages for the flexibility of being able to use both the ipad and iphone to work on the same document and it worked fine at first but now the iphone is having trouble syncing automatically. Now it asks me to resolve a conflict and choose between different versions of the document. I chose the one with the latest timestamp but it wasnt actually the latest version of the document from the ipad. When i went back to the ipad it didn't give any option except to click ok to accept the changes and so reverted my document to an earlier state. I lost all the work i did today and the undo button did nothing but go back to the last changes made to that earlier version of the doc.
I realize there is little hope for restoring my work. I use a webdav account to back up to but unfortunately hadnt done an upload today. From now on I'll be doing it every ten minutes but i really shouldn't have to.
Does anyone have any advice for this? Or at least an email to complain to the developers about their syncing procedure?

Looks like I had similar problem today.  I was working on my MacBook on pages and then about an hour later I made some changes on my iPad.  This morning it looks like I have to resolve a conflict of having two documents and I have to choose one.

  • ICal / iPhone sync problems - events don't appear in iCal

I have MobileMe set up on both my MacBook and iPhone. All iCal-created events now appear on my iPhone (although only those after 9th May 2008; none before), but if I create an event on my iPhone then it doesn't show up on iCal. If I check MobileMe on the internet, my web-based version of iCal has all events, including those that I create on the iPhone.
On iCal I have two calendar types: Home (Blue) and Work (Green). On my iPhone there are now four types, for some reason: two Homes (both Blue) and two Works (both Green). I have tried experimenting by creating events in all calendars, but none sync to appear in iCal on my MacBook.
    Help!

After 3.5 hours on the phone with applecare, I believe this problem of not syncing ical from ipod touch to the ical app is resolved. Here are the steps that made it happen for me:
Log out of main account and log into root account. If you haven't set up the root user yet follow the directions in your Mac Help on your computer. Make sure you understand the implications of setting up the root user account. You may want to disable the root user after you are done with this fix.
In Finder, navigate to /Users/(your account)/Library/Application Support and delete every folder in the Application Support directory that has the word 'Sync' in the folder's name.
Log out of the root account and back into your main account. Sync your ipod touch / iphone and see if this worked for you.
    Good Luck!

  • IPhone sync problem Windows 7 64 bit

I have a PC running Windows 7 64 bit. I get error messages nearly every time I try to sync my iPhone 4. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes 64 bit, latest version, but this does not solve the problem. iTunes is timing out my phone and will not sync. Any solutions? Am getting weary of going through an hour of this every day!
When my iPhone appears at all, I get a dialog box saying that another device has been synced to this computer. I am asked to restore from backup or install as a new device. Neither one works.
When/if iTunes does recognize myi iPhone, I get the error message "the iPhone [my phone name] cannot be synced. An error occurred while writing to the device.
My email and apps that come with the phone work OK, but any optional apps I installed will not open on the iPhone.
    Please help.

For the record, I then followed the suggestion of MarcDCMB in https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4291206 of just manually restarting the Apple Mobile Device service in Windows services.msc once each time after starting iTunes and the service no longer hogs CPU after that service restart.  Not too painful as a work-around, and apparently an effective one, but clearly not a solution to the problem.  Again, as above, all the other solutions didn't work for me and I have no conflicting software as far as I can tell. So you'd have to say this Apple's problem.
Also FTR, I am still on the 5.2.0.6 version of the Apple Mobile Device Support MSI and I don't know if that is relevant to this work-around working but my sense is that it is NOT relevant.  I'll report back on this thread if I re-upgrade and the problem returns in spite of the service-restart approach.
