IPhone syncing with new OS 10.5.5

Hi
I recently updated my Macbook OS to 10.5.5 and when i plugged my iPhone back in it does not recognise it or sync it to my Mac?
Any ideas?
I have tried all the resets the support page recommends and no luck?
Any help appreciated

Try downloading and re-installing the current iTunes version over the existing. No need to erase iTunes first before doing so as is usually or always required with Windows when doing the same.

  • Iphone sync with new library

I orginally synced and starting using my iphone4 with one laptop. Now I want to change and always sync and manage my iphone from a new laptop. Right now I want to update the iOS, but before I can do that, I need to get all my apps from the iphone to my new laptop itunes library. How? When I try to sync with new library which has no apps, I get a message that my iphone apps will be lost.
    How can I move forward??
    thx.

All iTunes content on your iPhone - all music, movies, tv shows, and 3rd party apps should be in your iTunes library on your computer for this and several other reasons. All apps on your iPhone would be in your iTunes library if Sync Apps had been selected under the Apps tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes. With this selected, after downloading an app direct with your iPhone the app will be copied to your iTunes library automatically the first time you sync your iPhone with iTunes after doing so. This also provides for downloading an app with iTunes on your computer and installing the app on your iPhone via the iTunes sync process, and for removing an app from your iPhone without deleting the app by deselecting the app under the Apps tab followed by a sync. To reinstall the app again later, reselect the app under the Apps tab followed by a sync. This also provides for transferring your entire iTunes library from one computer to another per the link provided.
First you need to authorize your new laptop with your iTunes account with iTunes. With your iPhone connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.
After confirming all 3rd party apps on your iPhone were transferred to your iTunes library, select Sync Apps under the Apps tab and make sure all apps below are selected. Select Apply.

  • Let iPhone sync with new laptop instead of old computer

I have a new laptop and copied my entire iTunes from the old computer to my new laptop, so I have exactly the same iTunes on my new laptop. My iPhone syncs with the old computer, but because I have a new laptop I want to sync it with the iTunes in my new laptop. but when I connect my iPhone to the laptop, it just doesn't show my iPhone anywhere or reacts on it at all. It's just like nothing happens when I connect it to the laptop. How can I make it sync with the new laptop?

You can create a fresh backup on your computer: Disable auto-sync when an ipod/iPhone is connected under preferences>devices in iTunes(under the edit menu if using Windows). Connect your phone, right-click the phone in the left device pane and select "Backup". Before doing so, make sure your computer is authorized: Store>Authorize this Computer.

  • IPhone syncing with new located Songs

Well all my songs are in a new location, and the songs on my iphone the songs where synced off the old location so will they be replaced if I sync now?

Let me see if I understand what you are saying. You have moved the location of your iTunes library? Is it on the same computer that you have been syncing with in the past? If so, then it shouldn't be a problem. Even if it was to replace the music, it would replace it with what is currently on there.

  • Change my iphone sync with new macbook pro

My MacpBook pro crashed and while it is being fixed i have bought a new one hoping i woulkd be able to get up and running quickly.  I want to sync my iphone with my new itunes so i can get my itunes media back onto the new machine.  however it tells me it cant sync because it is synced to a different computer (i.e my old one which is in for repair). Any ideas?

Perhaps it would be prudent to Invest in one...
Then after you have Used it to Move your iTunes Library...
You can Use it as your Time Machine Backup Drive with your New Mac...

  • PC Crashed, need to get iPhone synced with new PC without losing data

I have an iPhone 4 which I purchased a few weeks ago. Love the phone. The PC I set it up with has crashed so I need to use another PC to store/transfer data to/from the iPhone. I don't want to lose the data I have already put on the iPhone (about 700 songs, movies, 200 apps, contacts...) so a simple sync will not work. The files on this other PC are almost identical to the files I had on the original PC. Is there any way to change the single PC the phone will connect with, without changing/losing the data already on the iPhone?

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer files/docs/pics/music/etc.
Use your backup copy to put everything on the new computer.
The music sync is one way - computer to iphone. The only exception is itunes purchases. Without syncing: File>Transfer Purchases
If you sync your iphone contacts/calendars to a blank computer, then they will be erased as well. Another reason to use your backup.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup, then you can enter one unique contact and calendar entry on the new computer. When you first sync, then you should get the option to merge.

  • My iBooks just deleted a handful of my pdfs without a sync on my iphone 4s with new OS7.  Any suggestions?  I have not backed up or updated anything since just in case.

My iBooks just deleted a handful of my pdfs upon opening, without a sync, on my iphone 4s with new OS7.  Any suggestions?  I have not backed up or updated anything since just in case.

Happened to me on an iPad after updaing to iOS 7.0. All PDF's synced to iBooks disapperaed. I just connected to iTunes & synced them back...they all then were shown as new. Noticed I had to re-select them all, in iTunes, in order to sync them back.

Does iOS 3.1.3 on my original iPhone sync with the new MobileMe?  I can't get Calendar data, but Contacts and Bookmarks seem to come through OK. What's the official word on this?

There is no new MobileMe...it's been around for about 3 years now.

  • All backup/sync files for Iphone lost on old PC, anyway to sync with new PC without losing music, photos, contacts and texts?

All backup/sync files for Iphone lost on old PC, anyway to sync with new PC without losing music, photos, contacts and texts?

Make sure your new computer is authorized in iTunes. Disable autosync in itunes, connect your iphone, right click on it in the device list and choose backup.
This will save data, pictures and settings to itunes. See what's included in this backup here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
Transfer your purchases the same way to copy all apps and bought media from the Store to your computer.
Set up at least one contact and event on your computer to be able the merge your calendars and contacts after your device got wiped during the first sync.
The rest of the data can be restored from the backup you made.
    Restoring: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.
Apps can be downloaded again for free, in the US music as well. Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0

What exactly happens when you try to sync?
    Does iTunes see the iPod?
Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
If so have you done anything like update iTunes on the computer since it last successfully synced?
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Does any media now sync to the iPod?
Do you have the right boxes checked to sync?

  • Purchased audiobooks disappeared after syncing with new MacBook Pro

I had my iPhone synced with a Windows laptop which got really slow and decided to replace it with a MacBook Pro. In between the last sync with the laptop and the first sync with the MacBook Pro I had bought a couple of audiobooks through the iTunes Store. After syncing the iPhone with the new Macbook everything was fine except the audiobooks which we gone. Originally I thought it would work as with the apps from the AppStore that I could download them again free of charge by just giving my apple ID and password. However this was not the case. Can someone please help me with this as losing these audiobooks would suppose a more considerable loss of money compared to just apps.
    Thank you,
    Arne

You should have transferred the purchases to your computer: File>Devices>transfer Purchases
At this point, all you can do is contact itunes support, explain your situation, and hope they grant a redownload.

  • How to sync with new PST file in outlook 2007?

    Hi,
I synced my new iPhone with everything in my outlook 2007 without a glitch.
Then recently I had an outlook issue and saved the .pst file where Outlook stores all its data to a new name. I also created a new profile name for myself in Outlook so when I launch it, it prompts me to chose my profile.
Since I did this, outlook is not syncing anymore. And my guess is that it is still syncing with my old .pst file (which is corrupted and I dont want to open it anymore).
any ideas as to how I can reset the sync options so iPhone syncs with my current PST?
Thanks very much for any help. much appreciated.
    M

    OKAY!
I picked up on your point about the default PST and went back and, when prompted for the option to choose a profile, I clicked the box that makes that profile the default (previously I didn't pay attention to this because the box is only visible when you click the 'details' option).
    And then the sync worked.
So problem resolved and thanks very much for your help.
Sending good internet Karma to you,
    Maziar

  • How to sync Address book with iphone on 10.5, while iphone synced with iCloud?

My mac runs leopard 10.5.8. Meanwhile iPhone is updated to 5.1. and synced with iCloud. As we know, OS X 10.5 can not be synced with iCloud. How to sync Address book with iphone? My Address Book on my mac has almost all contacts that can be found on my iPhone. Even with pictures from FB and extra info such as twitter accounts, etc.
The question is - how can I manage my contacts? Now I have added several new entries to my iPhone, but they won't appear on mac's address book. In iTunes the contacts sync box is unchecked due to the fact that iPhone syncs with iCloud. But then I'm wondering where did Address Book get all the contact updates that were made on iPhone?
I'd like to control this whole thing. And is there such thing as one data base, that could used by all devices and would change entries on all of them, if I change or add something on my iPhone?
Or I just have to get Lion and let the iCloud do the magic?
    Thanks,
    Lauris

I just synced my new iPhone (iOS 5.0.1) with the Address Book on my Mac which runs 10.5.8 and iTunes 10.5.2. I launched iTunes and then I connected the iPhone to the Mac. It appeared on the DEVICES list in the left column in iTunes. I selected it and then the Summary screen appeared in the right part of the iTunes window.
In the Backup section of the Summary you can choose whether to 'Back up to iCloud' or 'Back up to this computer'. Even if you have 'Back up to iCloud' selected, there is a 'Sync' button in the bottom right hand corner of the iTUnes window where you can manually initiate a sync with the Mac.
    Hope this helps,
    Dave
