IPhone template

This is really, really basic question. I am just getting started but I have looked at different videos. I think that something may be missing in xCode but I am not sure.
When I go to the File menu and open a new project, there just isn't any choice for Cocoa Touch, etc.
Here is an image of the screen to show you that it isn't there for me to choose.

Perhaps I didn't install the SDK correctly? Or, should I try opening up something else? I know this is as basic of a question as you can get. Sorry about that...
Linda

OK. But in 2 different videos, there were icons for these:
Cocoa Touch Application
Cocoa Touch List
Cocoa Touch Toolbar
That is why I thought that something was missing.

  • Missing iPhone Xcode Template

I installed the iPhone SDK, but when I went to Xcode, there was no section entitled iPhone OS or any iPhone templates in any of the categories. I then uninstalled everything and reinstalled the SDK, but still no luck. I don't understand why these templates won't appear. Please help.

  • Asking for permission to use a iPhone prototype in our Prototyping Tool

    Hello,
We are a company in Barcelona called Justinmind (http://www.justinmind.com ). We are developing a software prototyping tool called Visual Prototyper. With this software you can prototype easily and fastly your applications before you start the development process. In our predesigned examples we would like to include an iPhone template, to help to prototype iPhone software.
For this reason we emailed 2 weeks ago to apple asking for permission to use this example in our software. We received an automatic message saying thtat we would be hearing from apple in 3 business days, but we still waiting for an answer.
Anyone know if this is possible or what we have to do to receive an answer?
    thanks very much!
    Sergi

    Hi,
Thanks for the idea! I need to update my .sig profile - I'm currently running 10.6.4, and as far as I know, all my other software and apps (including Firefox) are up to date.

  • Behavior of cross tab in iPhone vs. iPad

Hey all, I was just doing some testing with cross tabs in both iPhone and iPad in both Safari and the BO 5.1 Mobile app.
    What I found is this
    - You cannot scroll in a cross tab on iPhone, iPad works fine
    - You cannot select a row on iPhone, iPad works fine
This seems a little limiting, as the OnSelect action cannot be invoked and its not possible to show more than X number of rows in a cross tab. I am trying to build a sort of lookup application for accessing Master Data, like an item lookup - and you can't really do that on an iPhone if you could have variable number of records/need to scroll.
    Anyone else come across this?
    Regards,
    Justin

    Hi Justin,
Per page 29 of the SAP Help, crosstabs are not supported on iPhone
    See http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/AAD12/en/ds12SP01_user_en.pdf
"When creating mobile analysis applications for an iPhone, note the following SAP recommendations:
    ● Keep the applications simple and do not use too many components.
    ● Only create applications based on the predefined templates for iPhones (do not use the blank template for iPhones). In the New Application dialog box, select iPhone as the target device. In the next step, select a predefined  iPhone template (for example, iPhone Template 1).
    ● Do not use crosstab components for iPhone applications as this is not supported by SAP.
    ● Only design iPhone applications in portrait format. Landscape orientation is not supported when running the application in the SAP BusinessObjects Mobile solution."

The Snow Leopard DVD does not contain the iPhone SDK. You must download the iPhone SDK from Apple's iPhone developer site and install the SDK.
    http://developer.apple.com/devcenter/ios/index.action
You must register as an Apple developer to download the iPhone SDK. There is a registration link at the iPhone developer site.

  • Settings bundle won't build

I was able to actually build and load once, but now I get this error message:
.../Settings.bundle: object file format invalid or unsuitable
All my bundle contains is a plist with two items and and icon (to match my app icon). If I remove the Settings bundle from the build, I load just fine, and the old bunde show up. So...
Did I not delete the test app from the device?
What else could I be doing wrong?
    Thanks,

I had the exact same problem and couldn't find anything posted anywhere. I'm working with another programmer... he's the one who set up settings, so I'm still not sure what he did wrong, but it looks like maybe he created the file as a standard Xcode settings bundle instead of an iphone settings bundle. Anyhow, what I finally did was to delete the settings.bundle and all plist files associated with it (having the plist files separate from the bundle is what clued me in that something had been set up differently than the default iPhone settings bundle). I also deleted it from the "targets" area of the nav window (terminology? I'm pretty new to Xcode). Then I just created a new settings.bundle from the iPhone template and copied the settings over from the old plist file (I saved a copy on my desktop before I deleted it).
I'm not sure why the problem exists, and I'm not sure exactly why what I did fixed it, but it seemed to work for me... good luck!

  • Xcode installation

    Hi,
I've recently purchased a new MacBook and installed Xcode 3.2 from the SL installation disk.
When I open Xcode, and click to create new project, there are no iPhone templates available - only Max OS X templates. Does anybody know if this is a problem or do I need to make an additional installation for the iPhone templates?
    Thanks for any help.

Note that Tools 3.2.1 is available from Apple Developer Connection (http://developer.apple.com/). Requires ADC membership.

  • I can load my Numbers "My Templates" onto my ipad Air running ios 8 using iCloud, but when I try to do the same thing with my iphone 5s also running ios8, I get an error message and they do not load. What to do?

I am referring to the "My Templates" folder where I have designed my own specific templates. It loaded fine for iPad Air but confusingly, once it is on iCloud it does not seem to be accessible by my iPhone. So I tried the same process which entails finding the com.apple.numbers file and emailing the files; selecting them on iPhone then telling them to be opened by Numbers. Numbers will ask if you want them to be added to Templates. I said yes and after a brief attempt it returns the message that it cannot load the templates, an error occurred, but there is no reference as to what that error might be nor how to fix it.

To anyone who has viewed this post and is having similar difficulties, the answer came on a different forum: I dragged & dropped the files from Mail to iCloud Drive. Opened them on my MB Air, they were saved in Templates and are now accessible across all my devices.
Answer came from SGIll: Numbers templateshttps://discussions.apple.com/message/27505880#27505880Numbers templates

    Hi,
If you want to add fields to a list, as you have written your form in JavaScript, you can take consideration of using JavaScript Client Object Model to add/delete fields dynamically.
How to: Create, Update, and Delete Lists Using JavaScript
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/hh185005(v=office.14).aspx
If you want to achieve it with Form7, it is recommended to post the question to its forum to get quick and confirmed answer.
    Thanks

  • [iPhone] Navigation-Based Application template / UITableViewController

I'm new to development for both Mac OS X, the iPhone and Objective-C, but do have decent experience with C/C++. I'm trying to put together a series of simple iPhone applications to help expand my knowledge and wanted to ask whether or not I've got the right idea regarding my next test application.
I've used the Navigation-Based Application template to create an application that loads a Table View and populates it with a few items. I'm considering this Table View as the root menu for my application. Selecting an item from the Root Menu will take the user to a sub-menu (that is specific to the Root Menu selection). Selection of an item from the sub-menu will take the user to a view that'll let them perform a particular action.
I'm wondering the best way to go about structuring this kind of application? Should I create a controller class and accompanying xib for each of my sub-menus? If this is the case, would I have to use the didSelectRowAtIndexPath method to detect which menu item has been selected in order to determine which sub-menu view to push?
I'm happy to get my hands dirty and experiment (which is why I'm taking these baby steps), but I'm hoping someone with a little experience can come along and shed some light on how a relative professional would go about doing something like this?

Sounds like a good approach. You can use initWithNibName to load a view from a nib / xib. You can also re-use the same xib for different instances of the submenu view by parametrizing initWithNibName and do any customization to the controls in viewDidLoad.

  • Iphone TouchOSC template for Logic (includes all necessary files)

    Hi Ya'll,
I had been looking for TouchOSC templates for LogicPro for a while. Since I didn't find any that were useful to me I put one together myself. Now I want to share it with anyone who needs basic track control in Logic.
The zip file contains 3 files necessary to get the template to work:
    1. OSCulator file - necessary for routing and translating messages from TouchOSC to Logic. That file needs to be opened in OSCulatior.
    2. Logic Key Commands file - needs to be imported into Logic. It contains definitions of the functions contained in the TouchOSC template.
    3. TouchOSC template file - this file is the template itself and needs to be loaded into TouchOSC on iphone (i presume this will work on ipod touch as well but don't have one so I couldn't test it).
The zip file is located at:
    http://methodsunltd.com/touchOSC/Logic-BasicTouchControl.zip
Hope this becomes useful to all who wanted to control basic and what I think most useful controls in Logic.
    Cheers,

yeah, I love touchOSC as well, especially it's streamlined aesthetic! But just like you, I wish Apple developed Logic control surface apps for iphone and ipad. The moment they do I'm getting an ipad.

  • IPhone SDK: Objective-C++ Template keyword

I have a problem using templated code with the iPhone SDK. A simple example:
Create a new Cocoa Touch Application.
    Rename AppDelegate.m to AppDelegate.mm
    Paste the following into AppDelegate.mm:
    This produces one compiler error:
    expected unqualified-id before 'template'
The error is on the "template <class T>" line.
    Any ideas?

That example is a little hard to understand when it gets interpreted as a tag....
An answer on another list seems to solve the problem. You have to be careful to keep any template code out of the implementation section (so keep it above the @implementation line). That includes importing any header files, of course.
Let me know if you're still having problems and I'll send you a simple example (formatting it correctly this time).
