IPhone thinks headphones are still in

after the first time i worked out after the update, i unplugged my headphones and the phone wouldn't have sound and i kept messing with it and it thinks my headphones r still in! i toggled some switches, changed some settings back and forth and it worked. then it started doing it again...very annoying and sometimes the text sound won't finish all the way. sometimes it'll stop playing my ipod for no reason?

You need to plug and unplug your headphones about 8 times....to see if that fixes the issue. I have heard of that happening to others....where the iPhone still thinks the headphones are still in and this fixes it for them.

  • HT5858 iPhone thinks headphones are connected

My iphone 4S with iOS 7.0.2 won't put any sound to the speakers because it thinks there are a headphones connected.  I have some bluetooth headphones, but I have bluetooth disabled.  Any ideas?

    Hi jeberhardt,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I recommend trying these steps if the iPhone incorrectly registers that headphones are plugged in:
Ensure that there is nothing plugged in to the headset jack or the dock connector.
Make sure that the speaker and dock port aren't clogged with debris. If necessary, clean it with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush. Carefully and gently brush away any debris.
    Restart the iPhone.
If restarting doesn't fix the issue, ensure that your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS.
If the issue is not resolved after restoring the iPhone software, please contact Apple Support.
These steps come from the related troubleshooting article:

  • Macbook thinks headphones are still in

how do i convince my macbook, that the headphones are not in there. i have tryed shutting down with headphones in/ out restarting removing them slowly fast.  i notice the whole where they plug in is lit up red.  please help.
    thanks

Sounds like your headphone jack is damaged... try plug in/out your earphones a few times.
If this does not fix this slack joint, well... the headphone jack is connected to your macbook's logic-baord, when it's within warrenty you can bring it to an apple service provider, who will probably replace your logic-board :-/

  • I just got my new iPhone4 set up today and it has pulled in every email that is in my desk top as being unread.  Yet I have read all the emails.  Still the iPhone thinks they are unread.  Does anyone know how I can delete all of these at one time?

I just got my new iPhone4 set up today and it has pulled in every email that is in my desk top as being unread.  Yet I have read all the emails.  Still the iPhone thinks they are unread.  Does anyone know how I can delete all of these emails at one time from the phone?

I have taken it back to the Apple store genius bar, but they say they don't see anything wrong. Well unless you use it all day and experience the problems when they happen, you wont see anything wrong. But there are lots wrong with it. But this would be the same store as I purchased the phone. And they backed up my old Iphone 4, but were not able to get anything to load back onto my new phone. So, I lost pretty much everything. But over time, some of my contacts have started showing up, although i am still missing over 800 of them.

  • No audio thinks headphones are plugged in

I have no audio.  WHen I increase the volume I get a display that says headphones.

The iPhone believes the headphones are still plugged in. Check to see if there is any debris in the headphone jack. Don't use air to blow down into the headphone jack, as that can cause dirt and debris to be forced into the phone. Try inserting and removing the headphones a couple of times and see if that helps.

  • After upgrading to 7.0.4 yesterday on my iPhone 4, there are still 7 apps that are waiting to download, including Facebook. Is there anything I can do? These are apps I use frequently. Thanks.

After upgrading to 7.0.4 yesterday on my iPhone 4, there are still 7 apps that are waiting to download, including Facebook. The phone was plugged in for 12 hours and it has had a Wi-Fi connection for most of the 24 hours. Is there anything I can do? These are apps I use frequently. Thanks.

this is not phone or OS problem . its only your router DNS transfer function problem
I have resolved the problem by myself. I just figured out that the problem due to the DNS transfer function in my router. If I set the iPhone 4S to use the DNS server as 192.168.1.1 which is also the ip address of my router it will have the problem until I set the DNS to some common DNS service, such as 8.8.8.8 from Google. I think it is the problem of compatibiliy between the iOS and the router.
GOTO SETTINGS>>WI-FI>>click on informatio button(i) of your network>> change DNS to 8.8.8.8>> return
    all the best........

  • Itouch thinks headphones are connected when they aren't

My itouch (2nd gen)connects well to headphones, but when I remove the headphones it thinks they are still connected. I've tried restarting, resetting, and restoring already. The volume control buttons work, but come up saying there are headphones in when there aren't. The headphone jack is clean too. Anyone have any ideas???

I have the same problem. Have tried inserting removing headphones multiple times, looking for debris, the water damage indicator is still white, reboot, restore, etc. Still the iPod thinks that the headphones are always attached when they are not.
This is very frustrating, as it seems many are having this same issue. My iPod Touch is just a little over a year old, and I have taken care of it. It's disappointing that the answer seems to be bad hardware on Apples part.

  • How to find my iPhone if they are still in offline mode ? My phone has been stollen in my college yesterday.

How to find my iPhone if they are still in offline mode ? My phone has been stollen in my college yesterday.

    You can't.
What To Do If Your iDevice or Computer Is Lost Or Stolen
    iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad
If you activated Find My Phone before it was lost or stolen, you can track it only if Wi-Fi is enabled on the device. What you cannot do is track your device using a serial number or other identifying number. You cannot expect Apple or anyone else to find your device for you. You cannot recover your loss unless you insure your device for such loss. It is not covered by your warranty.
If your iPhone, iPod, iPod Touch, or iPad is lost or stolen what do you do? There are things you should have done in advance - before you lost it or it was stolen - and some things to do after the fact. Here are some suggestions:
This link, Re: Help! I misplaced / lost my iPhone 5 today morning in delta Chelsea hotel downtown an I am not able to track it. Please help!, has some good advice regarding your options when your iDevice is lost or stolen.

  • X201 thinks headphones are plugged in

Hi folks, I have a Thinkpad X201 (3249CTO) running Windows 7. All was well until yesterday when my laptop suddenly shut down. When I turned it back on, the internal speakers no longer work. I only get sound if I plug in my headphones. I updated all the audio drivers, disabled/enabled them in the Device Manager, and when I go into SmartAudio I'm able to get the internal speakers to make noise so I know the speakers haven't gone out. When I look in Sound in the Control Panel, I only see Speakers as my only playback device, but I seem to recall there used to be another option called Headphones or something. Nothing else is listed there even with "Show Disabled Devices" selected.
I'm just super confused as to what's going on and what I should do. I think either the headphone jack has stopped working or the sudden restart has changed some weird setting in my laptop to make it think the headphones are in all the time.
Thanks in advance for any help!

  • ITunes thinks movies are still on iPad

I recently moved from iPad 2 to the new iPad. On my old iPad, I had 2 movies synced to it when I did my final backup. When I restored the new iPad from cloud backup, it restored everything except the 2 movies, but still thinks they are on the iPad. In iTunes, no matter how many times I check and uncheck the two movies, they automatically check and show the space used, but does not copy the moves to the new iPad. I even tried deleting the moves from iTunes and re-downloading them, tried marking them unwatched and syncing unwatched movies, made sure the movies were checked in all lists, etc. Yet no matter what I do, I cannot get the moves to re-copy to the new iPad. I even tried clearing the iTunes Store cache.
Anyone else have this issue? Any other suggestions I could try (short of restoring as a new iPad and putting everything back on)?
    Thanks...RK

See if any of the following fix it :
    - close the iTunes store app via the multitasking bar and see if you can redownload the film when you re-open it : double-click the home button to open the taskbar, and then swipe or drag the iTunes store app's screen from there up and off the top of the screen to close it, and click the home button to close the taskbar.
    - a soft-reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
    - turn Settings > iTunes & App Store > Videos (under 'show all') 'on' and see if the film then shows in the Videos app with the cloud icon for downloading.

  • IPhone assumes headphones are always connected even if they don't

I've got a big problem with my iPhone. It started assuming that the headphones are always connected, which means that if they are not connected I cannot listen to music, or make calls, as the sound would not be played through the normal speakers.
I have looked at the port for headphones- nothing has stuck in there for the phone to assume that those are my headphones.
Any suggestions on how to solve this?
P.S. Speakers work fine as the alarm functions OK. It is just that the iPhone assumes that headphones are connected...

There is a physical switch, and that might be deformed such that it never can tell when the plug is removed from the jack.
But it could just as well be a software setting that this physical switch interacts with.
You could CAREFULLY poke around in there with a plastic toothpic to see if you can trigger that switch to close
or you can take it in to the Apple store.

  • Latest update, 10.5, thinks my iPhone and iPad are still connected and self launches. Help?

Since updating to 10.5, iTunes self launches and shows bothmy iPad and iPhone as connected when they're not. Any help would be appreciated.

I'd like to know also.  The way I understood it would work is that if you enabled the wireless sync on the iPhone or iPad, it would start iTunes and wirelessly sync when you plugged the phone or iPad into a power source.  My iPad is not plugged in and is asleep with the cover on it, and it keeps restarting iTunes a few minutes after I shut it down.
Right now, I'm unchecking the "start iTunes when device connects" box on the iPad and the phone to see if that stops it, but that defeats the purpose.  I DO want it to start iTunes when I initiate it by either plugging the device into the sync cable or into power, but not when it's sitting there asleep on the battery and just happens to be in the vicinity of my home network.
I think both my phone and iPad are doing this.
Obviously, I have Itunes 10.5 and iOS 5 on both my iPad 2 and iPhone 4.  TIA.

  • Iphone 5 headphones are not playing from the left mono side. Is it covered by guarantee ?

I have noticed that the large speakers of the headphone from the left side are not playing but the small speakers on the side still work. Is this problem covered by the first year guarantee of the iphone 5 package.

From the apple's discruption I mean the sound output speakers. The left large sound output is not working but the middle is working. Is this covered by the guarantee?
"The speakers inside Apple EarPods have been engineered to minimize sound loss and maximize sound output. So you get high-quality audio that’s just as impressive as what you’d hear from more expensive headphones."

  • Phone thinks headphones are always in?

I've been having this problem with my iphone where it thinks I have headphones plugged in, but I don't.
I haven't been able to narrow down an exact pattern, but I tend to use my iphone as an ipod frequently.
It's also difficult to get the phone to realize the headphones aren't there. Sometimes I need to put the headphones in, and take them out. Sometimes I need to put them in, play a song and take them out. The rest of the time I'll have to power cycle the phone.
I keep missing calls! Please Help!!!

If it is determined at the Store that your iPhone needs to be exchanged under warranty, and the particular store has a new or refurbished iPhone in stock, it will be exchanged on site. If not and your iPhone must be sent to AppleCare for the exchange, or the store to received more stock to make the exchange, the Store should have an loaner iPhone available for your to use in the interim. You can use a loaner iPhone with your iPhone's SIM card right away, but you must sync this iPhone with iTunes on your computer to transfer your iPhone settings and data to this iPhone.
If you were an at&t subscriber prior to getting an iPhone and you still have your old at&t phone, you can use your iPhone's SIM card with this phone temporarily.
So the the short answer is, you shouldn't be without a phone one way or the other regardless.
