IPhone thinks that it is connected to an accessory

My iPhone currently will not charge as it believes its connected to an accessory, but isn't. I cannot plug it into my Bose soundock or the original charger to charge the battery. Anyone have information on how to correct this problem? Thanks for your time.

It seems that the pins may be bent. I can sometimes get a charge started if I adjust the phone just so when its connected. Is there a cheap/easy way to fix/replace the 28pin connector?

Restore the phone using iTunes. First time restore your backup. If the problem is not fixed restore again, and this time set up as New.

If the screen is completely shattered why bother to try and restore the phone?

Sounds like your iPhone was hacked to unlock and now updating locks back to the original carrier.
Where did you get the iPhone?

  • My iphone 4S is not able to connect to my home wifi network although it easily connects to others. Infact, i have tried connecting another iphone with my home network without any difficulty. So its just my new iphone 4S that is not connecting.

My iphone 4S is not able to connect to my home wifi network (BSNL). It does detect it and even tries to connect to it but in vain. However, it connects to all other available networks easily. Another interesting thing is that all other devices including an iphone 4 easily connects to this home network. So what is the problem with iphone 4S???

There are two ends to a wireless network. Try rebooting your router. Just pull the power for a few seconds and replug. No settings are lost.
(The fact that all your other devices connect to the internet is irrelevant)

  • HT4528 i upgraded from an iphone to a Samsung galaxy and now i am unable to receive text messages now from iphone users.the iphones think that my number is still another iphone and always sends a message as imessage.

Upgraded from iphone to a Samsung and now i am unable to receive text messages from other iphone users unless they disable imessage .
Being my original number was on an iphone is why this is happening .
Please help. Almost everyone has an iphone

You should have turned iMessage off before disabling the phone. Do you still have the phone so you can turn iMessage off? If not, you will need to go to Apple support on their website and delete the product from your profile.

  • HT4759 i lost my ipod in public and i don't think that it's connected to wi_fi so what should i do ??

    help me plz

In order to locate a lost iPod Touch:
You have to have an iCloud account
You have to have set up 'Find My iPod' on it before losing it
It has to be on, not wiped, and able to connect to a network.
If any of these conditions is not met then it is not possible to locate it.

  • IPhone thinks thought headphones were connected - now dead!

Two days ago my iPhone 4S would not work without headphones - when the headphones weren't plugged in it was like it thought they were (when I adjusted the volume it said "headphones") - I plugged the headphones in & out several times & it seemed to resolve the problem.
The phone has worked fine ever since, but I just picked it up now to use it & the screen was black like it was turned off, even though it was recently fully charged. It won't turn up & nothing is happening when I plug it in! Help!

try dowing a hard reset. holding down the home button and the power button at the same time.

  • HT1212 help to restore iphone 4 thats not been connect to this computer

i need help unlocking my iphone 4 verizon its disabled

Put the phone in rescue mode and have itunes restore it. This is how. Turn the device off holding down the sleep/wake button until you get slide to turn off. Turn off device. With the device off. Hold down the home button and keep holding down the home button while plugging in the iphone to your computer. Iphone will get an itunes logo and cable image on the screen release the home button. Itunes will see a device in recovery mode press ok in the message and hit restore.

  • IPhone thinks accessory is attached

My iPhone thinks that an accessory is attached. I have reset the phone and have cleaned the dock connector with a dry paintbrush. Please help.

I am having the same problem. The stupid thing turns itself on every ten minutes to tell me that the accessory is not supported when nothing is even plugged in!! This wastes a lot of battery time so I want to figure this out. I have replaced the screen twice and I have checked the contact point where the plug for the dock connector plugs into the main circuit board. It always seemed connected well. The problem has been happening since then though. I feel that if the connector had come loose then it would simply think nothing was plugged in. The iPhone, however, works flawlessly when accessories are plugged in, and it always syncs just fine. Current diagnosis is that my iPhone has a brain tumor.

  • IPhone assumes headphones are always connected even if they don't

I've got a big problem with my iPhone. It started assuming that the headphones are always connected, which means that if they are not connected I cannot listen to music, or make calls, as the sound would not be played through the normal speakers.
I have looked at the port for headphones- nothing has stuck in there for the phone to assume that those are my headphones.
Any suggestions on how to solve this?
P.S. Speakers work fine as the alarm functions OK. It is just that the iPhone assumes that headphones are connected...

There is a physical switch, and that might be deformed such that it never can tell when the plug is removed from the jack.
But it could just as well be a software setting that this physical switch interacts with.
You could CAREFULLY poke around in there with a plastic toothpic to see if you can trigger that switch to close
or you can take it in to the Apple store.

  • My iPhone seemes to think that the headphones are connected egen they are not. So to talk to someone I have to put it On speaker or put in some headphones. I can't hear music and there is no sound egen i Get an sms or og I try to change the sound for sms!

Why does it Think so and is there something I can do to fix it or do I have to send it in for fixing.?? tried to reset it..

The same thing happened to me on my old iPhone 3G. My guess was that water entered the headphone jack, and somehow made some short inside it making the iPhone believe that the headphone was plugged in. Pluggin and unpluggin the headset many times proved that sometimes it worked ok for a while, so what I did to solve the problem was spraying some good quality contact cleaner inside the jack, and voilá,  still works fine after one year of the problem. Make sure you use a good quality contact cleaner WITHOUT LUBE, ( WD40 IS NOT GOOD FOR THIS PURPOSE) otherwise the lube will remain in the inside of your screen without a chance of cleaning it unless you dissasemble the iphone. A good quality contact cleanner should displace water and grease, and leave no residue after it evaporates ( IPA Iso Prophyl Alcohol, Hexane, or Heptane based products are ok)
The other possibility is taking it to the repair shop, and have it looked by an expert. Good luck!

  • Iphone turns on only when connected to a wall charger and shows that the batterry is 100% charged

My iphone 4 is not turning on using the power button, when i press it nothing happens but when i connect my iphone to a wall charger the apple logo appears and after some time it says "connect to itunes" and "slide to unlock bar" appears at the bottom for emmergency calls and if i unplug the charger the screen goes black. When i connect iphone to my computer the iphone logo comes in and stays there for about 10 seconds and then the screen goes all black and this thing repeats as long as my iphone is connected to the computer. I have tried the hard reset (pressing home button and power button simultaniously) but its useless in this case
I think this is because my battery is totally dead and  need to relace it but if anyone of you knows and think that theres some other problem then please let me know
when it is connected to a wall charger it says that the iphone is 100% charged but i cannot use the iphone as the itunes logo and emergency slide to unlock bar appears on the lockscreen also no service with no wifi nothing its stuck there i can only turn off my iphone using the top sleep button
    iPhone 4

So the iPod only powers on when connected to an external power source such as a USB port on your PC or Mac or when connected to a wall charger?  If so, that is a very good indication that your iPod's battery is shot and in need of replacement.
Apple can swap it out for a flat fee or you can send it to a third party repair service for a bit less.
